Ah, you see with the PC version you can actually move the camera much closer to the character, to the point literally of being able to go into first person perspective by scrolling the mouse wheel. For archery of course, FPP is the obvious choice, although I have been known to stick with third person in the event of being surprised by an unexpected enemy. Usually I have the camera pulled out just a fraction out, maybe two or so feet, as it gives the third person fighting advantages without sacrificing too much of the first person clarity, in fact it's often superior.
I'll have to give this a try. I'm on the Xbox 360 version so I don't know if it's possible, but it could be one of those things that have been there all along that I've simply been missing it. If it's there on mine I'll try it and post an update. Thanks for the tip.

Just a quick question.

What are your system specs Gavin? Do you play it with settings all on high? I've got an ATI Radeon X600 256 MB (Decent card) and even with medium settings the frame rate drops like a brick with Gravity X10.

Well I bought my current Dell XPS about eighteen months ago, so I'm lucky enough to be able to run most of the settings at High, actually except for a few graphics settings which I have no idea of the meaning, they're all set on high. The graphics card is a GeForce 6800 256 MB, I'm not sure what the ATI equivalent would be, although I've noticed since downloading a new driver set from NVidia it's been running a bit faster. The machine itself is P4 3.4 GB processor with 1G of RAM, those three combined mean that most games run quite stable on the High settings, however I have begun to notice in some areas some drop in frame rate and am considering upgrading to a GeForce 7600 before it becomes a problems.

Z you seem in the know on the whole Graphics cards thing, is ?287/$359 good value for an overclocked GeForce 7600 GT 256MB ?

Hmm, I think that's going to be the average price you're going to find on the internet.

I'd recommend seeing if you have any friends that work in computer shops or have friends who know people. That way you could probably get a significant discount.

The 7600 GT I hear is pretty fine, but overclocking it obviously means it'll be pushed to the extreme. Just look into if it's reknown for overheating because obviously that'll compromise performance.

It's very rare for me to find a game that can give me what I always long for in a game: a new experience everytime I play. No, I don't mean starting a new file or using cheats to "enhance" gameplay. I mean being able, with one file, to see something random happen nearly everytime I play. The game Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion does just that.

It not only has a very deep storyline that doesn't bore you or confuse you, but the options for your character are amazing. From designing your character just the way you'd like him/her to look or choosing a class, the game practically gives you unlimited options. The best feature to me is that your not forced down any certian path. You decide what your character does, when he does it, how he does it. Oblivion offers you to do whatever you want, be that a courageous Knight, a second-story burgler, a powerful and wise Mage, or a cunning and deadly murderer. I even just recently discovered that you can pick things up and throw them using the R button. A truly interactive environment which adds to the gameplay nicely.

I am the Guildmaster of every guild in the game, over halfway done with the main story, and done probably 20 side-quests and still haven't even done half the stuff(or found it for that matter) in the game. I was even surprised to read some the books in the game to find some good stories, and there are over 100 books in the game! Seeing how the computer reacts to certian things, like a dead body, were a surprise to me. With the number of options and hilarious weapons in the game, including graphics and gameplay(which also rock), I have to say The Edler Scrolls IV:Oblivion is probably the best RPG out right now.

Apparently conquering the 360 and the PC just wasn't enough. Oblivion is now going to Debut with the Playstation 3.

Exciting yes?

It should be, because not only is it going for the PS3, its getting an expansion.

The PS3 version will have a whole new guild to dominate; The Knights of the Nine.
The polar opposite of The Dark Brotherhood. Your job as a Knight is to uphold and protect the strict laws of the Nine Godly Entities that govern the religion of Tamriel. (Basically to be a goody two-shoes.) The initiation quest takes you to the nune shrines (not located on the map by the way) to collect Holy pieces of a suit of armor, which are suppose to be chalk full of magical bonuses for you to wield. But in order to keep these Divine devices, your Infamy level MUST be 0. Otherwise you have to get it back to 0 and then do the quest all over again.

Another advancement is the quality of the graphics. Although almost perfect to begin with, Bethesda thought that the clearity between distant and near landscapes was a little sketchy. So, using their extra development, they went in and made it a little more seamless. Small change, but definitely noticable.

I'll try to find screenshots and update this thread as soon as possible.

But tell me, what do you think about PS3 having an Expanded version of Oblivion and 360 not? I think its a jip for 360 owners and i hope they come out with and expanded version for all consoles.

Well, seeing as how the majority of people Microsoft fans or otherwise have already played Oblivion to death, I don't think another Guild is going to recruit more people to the $600 system. Besides, thats nothing Bethesda can't throw on the Marketplace for all us 360 owners.

I'm not worried that everyone will exclaim; 'The PS3 version is best!' because incrementally better graphics can't justify replaying the game because, like I said, EVERYONE has played Oblivion already.

Considering the PS3 is getting the game almost a year later, I have to hope it would look better and have some added aspects. I own the 360 one and personally it doesn't bother me at all lol.

You also have to remember that Bethesda sells content for both the 360 and PC versions of the title. It wouldn't take them much time to put up a download for that new faction.

Personally I think it's great, simply because this means I'll get to play it now. It dosn't matter to me which version is the best, for me it comes down to which version I am simply able to play. I don't own a 360 and probably never will, and my PC isn't updated enough to be compatible with it...I already have a method of getting a PS3 which won't drain my pockets too much and I have been dying to play this game since i first read about it's release. I've played ES3, but not fully through.

Personally though, i'd rather play it for PC. I'd just be used to it as a former MMORPG player and since a lot of the systems in my place are shared between me and some friends (the PS2 and n64 are the only ones that are fully mine) it would be courteous to them if i wanted to play oblivious on the PC and they could play something else on the consoles. Though it has nothing to do with whether or not the PC version is the best. In fact from what i hear out of the two, the 360 version is actually better.

Yeah, it's definitely cool that it'll reach more people.

I've kind of wished I could get the PC version, myself. The fact that it's the only one that can utilize user made mods is a semi-big deal for me... but my video card could never ever handle it. Compromises, I guess.
They're releasing a PSP version as well, if anyone was interested.

Keep in mind though that the PSP version is essentially just a dungeon crawler, which can be good or bad depending on your preferences. I think it looks pretty impressive though and should suit the handheld format nicely. After all, it would be weird exploring a sprawling world map on the go. Especially with the PSP's loading.

'Disc Access' walk a few steps 'Disc Access' walk a few more steps 'Disc Access'

Yeah, it wouldn't be very pretty but yeah I did look into the PSP Oblivion and it's shaping up to be a pretty solid dungeon hack and slash adventure. Resources even said that all of your armor and gear with be aesthetically shown, so at least that part of Oblivion stays. Though, Charlie, I'm not sure you're going to like the control scheme. A carbon copy of Metroid Prime.

You have a rather valid point, but there still are those few people that for some reason have a vendetta against other consoles. Dont ask why, i think its kinda dumb. And then there are people like me who have been saving up for a PS3 as opposed to a 360 (which will be next on my agenda). PS3's version may not have the best edge over the 360's, but people looking forward to the PS3 and that dont have Oblivion yet may be inclined to wait, either until the PS3 comes out, or until 360 gets an expanded version of its own.

Personally, id rather the 360 version, something about 360 controllers is very comfortable.

Also, a downsize to the PS3 version (if you can call it that) is that they dont have confirmation on downloadable content yet. So it just might have to live without it.

I'd imagine so, only because of controls, its easier for a mass majority to learn how to use a controller rather than commands on a PC. And....Did you call it Oblivious? haha....any ways, as for ES3, Morrowind was a good game, absolutely nothing wrong with it, aside from various glitches. But I'd say that Oblivion is just an enhanced version of morrowind. Same basic principle, same basic gameplay without counting the new battle techniques. And the incredible graphics.

Infinite possibilities.
