Have any of you all had braces and did it bother you as much as it did me? I hated mine. Like I couldnt stand them. At my new dentist down in Georgia they noted I had a small overbite and were like I should get braces again to straighten that out. I was like, you know what? How about no. The dentists back in Wisconsin didn't see it bad enough for me to get braces enough, I am taking their word over yours. I walked out after that, lol. But ya, I HATED braces. My teeth have always been relatively straight, some have said perfect, so I'm pretty lucky about that, though I don't have a smile to go with them, lol. Lately, though, the dentist has been mentioning a slight overbite of my top row over my bottom that I've always thought was pretty normal, and I'm thinking that it might be because I sometimes grind my teeth a bit, bleh. In any case, I also wanted to mention that I find braces on girls to be pretty sexy, though I've found that I am the minority of that opinion. I have two missing that are supposed to come in next to the two front teeth but just never did. I'm not saying that there are massive gaps where they should be, there's just more of a gap than normal lol. Also I have two larger teeth that are still milk teeth because my adult teeth weren't underneith them to replace them. Please bare in mind that I am now 18 almost 19 and these two teeth are now mostly filling. My sister only has three adult teeth, the rest are all milk teeth. Eventually she is going to get them all replaced with synthetic teeth at about £1000 a tooth I think it was. People who have worn braces always seem to notice that my teeth are very nice. I've never worn braces though, this smile is natural ^_~ I once knew this boy who would ask me every week what color he should change the little rubber thingies on the braces to, and I'd tell him some random color and he'd come back the next week with the color I recommended. I brush them about seven times a day, so I don't know what I was worried about (aside from enamel erosion, I guess...=_="), but I was still relieved. I got my braces off just as they were starting to be considered sexy. What a rotten bit of luck. A retainer's just not the same, I guess--especially when it's broken in several places. I barely ever got cuts and even when I bite my cheeks and lips it doesn't really leave a mark. I got them off two years ago. And my teeth are great. However, I have a floating tooth. If I leave my retainer off over the day, it moves. It's not really a big thing considering how horrible my mouth was before, but it's still annoying. I've had my first retainer for the entire two years. It's in rough shape, but it still works. And I'm definitly not going to pay for another one. You do look great, and I am jealous too! #2. I've had braces on for almost 38 months and I'm still waiting for 2 molars to come in. Yes, braces bother me. They are the biggest pain in my life at the moment. I have springs and contraptions in my mouth (only on the bottom now) and they make me kind of mumble when I talk because they really cut up the insides of my mouth, lips and tongue. I hate pain and could never get used to them. I just realized something, I'm still wearing my retainer from when I got my braces off four years ago. So Im thinking about doing that because I will be able to talk regularly(sp?) all the time, and plus I wont have to worry about losing it or breaking it, etc. But for now, I have to wear this thing called a Pre-Finisher. Its basically a Mouth Guard that makes sure my teeth dont shift from now until I get my actual retainer. Its really annoying because you cant talk at all with it in your mouth, so. Now I dont show a whole lot of my bottom teeth but when I got my braces on, man all my teeth would show. But I like it better now anyways. Shugo54 Posted October 31, 2004 Share Posted October 31, 2004 I hate my braces. i have had them for almost 3 years from 2nd semester 6th grade and now i'm entering my 2nd semester of 9th grade. at first i had a big upper overbite then the dentist did an error and now my bottom row of teeth have a slight over bite. he is making me wear some rubber bands bah. i dont wear them (only sometimes...if i remember ><). hopefully by the end of the year i would have gotten rid of these things.
