Night sat idly in his chair. His hand scratched Shirow's head slowly. He was staring at the fireplace, watching the flames and obviously lost in thought. A knocking stirred him. His retainer, Selino, walked in. Though relatively old, Selino had served Night unconditionally. In his younger years, he had actually accompanied Night on several hunts, but now he stayed at Sierra Manor, taking care of the old mansion. Night nodded to him and got up. He walked over to the closet. Selino pulled out a sword from its rack. Laying it on the bed, he glanced at Night. The hunter placed his red hat on his head. His trenchcoat (also red) swept the floor as he turned. He buckled on the blade, then went out onto the balcony. Breathing in, he saw the faint glows of portals and demons entering the world. He turned to Selino.
"Alert the Hunters Selino. Its time to hunt."
Selino bowed and went off. Night sat down at his desk and waited for the hunters to come to recieve their missions.
----------------
The acolytes wandered the streets. Here and there, corpses of sacrifices littered the alleys. Here and there, demons fed upon the living. There were also a few who were...better then the others. This particular branch of the acolytes was charged with guarding the others from the Hunters. It had been a constant war between the two factions for countless years. Recently, each side has been getting more and more savage. Its reached the boiling point, but the fires continue to grow.
----------------
((Right...Hunters, report to Night to get your various missions. Acolytes/demons, your busy killing, marauding, looting, whatever the hell you want. Go to it.))

In the depths of the night a sickening sound of metal running through flesh echoes in the small alley. Rebecca pulls back her sweet katana, Razara from the body that was before her. It fell lifelessy to the cobled ground as blood poured from its wound. Rebecca reached down and pulled on its coat, sliding Razara between the folded fabric to clear it of the fresh blood. She stood suddenly with the fresh sent and sound of something quickly approaching her. She swirled around in her tall boats and loose fitting slacks.

"What have you for me, Alender?" her voice was seculant with rough edges.

(Night calls for us.) The massive white tiger stated through his thoughts.

"I shall meet you there." She replied quickly as she jumped to the roof tops, sheathing her sword. Her wings expanded, stretching themselves before she took to flight. The clouds above were dazziling even in the night. With no effort, Rebecca shot to the sky, her wings sending her through the air with a grace only a creature living for decades could pull off.

Below she could feel every muscle in Alender's body mover and ripple as he raced across the city below her. Soon Night's balcony came into view. Alender found a place to rest amonst the shrubs below the balcony as Rebecca landed gently on the railing.

"You called for us, Sir Night," Rebecca called into the night with her sweet, rough voice.

Zet had her head under the bed when Selino knocked on the door. Ranpu quickly ran to the door and opened it as Zet was completly oblvious too any sounds at the moment.
" Miss Zetsumei, Master Night would like to... what are you doing with your head stuck under the bed?" Selino asked puzzled. Zet shot her head up quickly without removing it from under the bed and slammed her head under the bed. As she pulled her throbing head out from under the bed she grasped it to ease the pain.
" Damn it, Selino don't you knock?" Zet complained as Ranpu walked over and licked Zet's head. When Ranpu licked her head a icy chill spread over Zet's head numbing the pain. He did knock but, you were to busy trying to find that book you borrowed from Night. Ranpu said telopathily as she curled up by Zet. Oh.
" You have a foul mouth Miss Zetsumei ", Selino started to say but was cut off by Zet.
" I told you that my name is Zet not, that dumb name you've been calling me by. It's a demon's name that means death at least Zet isn't so bad." Zet snapped angerly but, quickly cooled down as she said the last part that was ment for her.
Sighing Selino countioned," Miss Zet I have other Hunters to talk too, so I you need to report to Master Night's room."
Zet raised her hand and saluted to Selino army stlye and repiled," Yes Mr. Selino, sir! I will complte the task you set for me with flying colors."
Selino nodded and left the room and as he sut the door he chuclked to himself as he walked down the hallway to inform the other Hunters. Back in Zet's room she toke another glance under the bed and frowned.
" Where did I put that Rune Book? Crap Night is going to kill me if I don't find it." Zet rambled to herself as she paced the floor. Suddently she tripped and fell onto the floor and scrapped her elbow.
" Ow! What tripped me?", Zets face widened," Yes, the book! I found the god-**** book so lets go Ranpu!" Zet grabbed the book and ran out of the room almost running into the wall across the hall. Ranpu followed her down the hall to the heavy oak doors that lead to Night's room. Slidding to a stop Zet lightly hit the doors base with her foot and fell down but, jumped back up quickly. Zet dusted herself off and knocked on the door with Ranpu next to her. Zet waited with the anicent Rune Book in her hands as she sat on the floor with her back to the wall beside the doors. Ranpu curled up again and waited with Zet for their turn to hear their assinment.

Selino opened Ziarre's door quietly, careful not to wake the pyrokintetic girl. Rath's golden eyes opened to see the old servant walking over to Ziarre's bed. The big cat growled warningly.
" Don't worry Rath, I'm just here to wake her up," Selino whispered to the silvery-tan coated cougar. Selino gently shook Ziarre awake.
" Dear Mistress Ziarre. You must awake. Master calls for you."

Ziarre opened her brilliant green eyes as she sat up.
" Selino? Night calls for the Hunters?" she asked, brushing her purple hair out of her face. The old servant nodded.
" Get ready Mistress. The Hunt is about to begin soon." The old servant exited her room. Rath gracefully stood up and stretched his back.
" Night calls for us Rath, the Acolytes must be active again," Ziarre whispered as she slid out of her bed. Changing into her hunting clothes (body length black leather trenchcoat, short black plaid skirt, criss-cross white shirt and black leather feminine boots), Ziarre walked out of her room with her hands in her pockets, with Rath behind her. They walked to Night's room. Ziarre knocked on the door.

" Come in," Night's voice echoed from the balcony.
Ziarre entered tentatively. To be honest, she was a little scared of Night but she never would admit it.
" You called for me Night?" Ziarre enquired, Rath at her side.

The lady in red walked hand in hand with the gentleman in black. Indeed, no fairer couple had walked the streets for ages now and this pair seemed to be in total bliss. Off they went to Stonebridge that connects the dim slums with the dazzling red-light district, and probably the only tributary of hope left for those who live on the other side. No one was in sight, none prowled in the shadows save for a solitary stray cat. Assured of their isolation the lady leaned against a lamppost and the gentleman?s hand wandered to his companion?s throat. She lightly swatted the hand away whilst her other hand covered a giggled that escaped her lips.

?Come now, miss. Don?t play games with me.?
?Oh, but sir, being a woman??
?You know it won?t work, Lisette. What do you say we ditch the party, take a ride in my carriage and perhaps do something naughty afterwards??
?I really am needed back in the Krankenhaus??
?Nonsense. Perhaps this incentive is? adequate??

A wad of bills he brought out from his coat and pressed to her chest. To that he added a silver band studded with numerous diamonds which he slipped on her right ring finger. With a kiss in the hand he pulled her closer and she replied with a breath of warm air about his ears.

?Lord Rotterdale, have you read ?Alice?s Adventures in Wonderland???
?Yes of course. Why do you ask??
?Tell me? Which character am I like the most??
?Hmm, let?s see??
His mind ran through the book as he sized up the woman before him. Surely, he wouldn?t think of her as the Gryphon or the Mock Turtle; not Alice even nor the Duchess. None of them had her cherry-red lips. Her smile? The Cheshire Cat maybe? Then it struck him.

?The Queen of Hearts.?

Hours before dawn, police were wakened with a homicide report. Rats have already started to gnaw at the corpse by the time they finally reached Stonebridge. It was decapitated with a clean hack and bloody paper bills stuck out from its hollowed-out chest. The heart has been gored out and marinated in the dark red liquid that had now filled the cavity was a playing card, the Six of Hearts.

Gilford Rotterdale, twenty-five years of age and heir to the Baron of Wortwick, was dead. The Queen of Hearts had claimed her sixth victim.

OOC: Sorry it took me a while too post, but I will get to it now.

Cold, legs crossed, sat gloomily on a small wooden chair. His eyes closed, as he sipped impatiently at a glass of wine. Red. Strong. His eyes closed, and he leaned back in his chair.
"Master..." The weak, attractive voice floated into Cold's ear.
"Silra. You are late." Cold replied without stirring.
"I apologize, my Master. I assure you, it was well worth the wait." Silra, bowing her head and sounding apologetically, stated blankly.
"What news have you brought for me?" Cold, still without stirring, stated blankly.
"I intercepted a psychic message from the one called Night. Leader of the Hunters, perhaps. Regardless, the impudent Hunters have once again gathered. Gathered for the purpose of striking down those below you, My Master." Silra, stilled bowing, said.
"What business of mine is this?" Cold said, rather coldly and without a hint of caring.
"Well, My Master, do you not whish to strike down the foes of your masters? This is your chance, My Master; this is the chance you have awaited! Take up arms against them, and strike them down." Silra has compassion in her voice and fire in her eyes as she said this.
"Compelling argument. Take me to them. Tonight, we will be the hunters."

Night was reading a small black book as the Hunters filtered into his office. He coughed when a particularly large tome landed with a thud on his desk. He glanced at Zet.
"Find out what you needed Zet?"
She nodded. He smiled and closed his own book.
"My library is always open to you, as you know. Now then, about the assignments. I wish I could wait for the others, but we are running out of time. The others will have to get their assignments when they finally get up. Rebecca, please come in. Its difficult to talk to someone on a balcony."
He picked up a folder. Plain, red, like so many other things he owned. He opened it.
"The acolytes have struck in several different places. We have a homocide, Gilford Rotterdale was found decapitated and with his heart torn out. Apparently, someone left a card in the chest, a six of hearts to be precise. This is the third one so far. There are also reports of several murders near the water tower area, and a large gathering of well known acolytes in the tech industry district, no doubt a summoning. In a related case, a child has gone missing, one we've been watching for several months now. Ziarre, your one of my more experienced Hunters, you'll handle the water tower. Judging by the corpses, youve got a rather large, if stupid, demon awaiting you there. Rebecca, take care of this Card Murderer if you would. Something doesnt smell right about it. Zet, although I hesitate to send you to a tech lab, what with all the fragile equipment...you will take care of this gathering. Do try to keep collateral damage to a minimum. Oh, and see if you can get any of them to reveal info on our missing child."
He paused as he flipped open another report. He was silent for a moment, then looked up at the others.
"Be careful. Word travels fast in this city, and I dont want any unneccesary publicity. Do try to...keep it clean."
The last statement was directed to Rebecca. The Hunters filtered out to their tasks and Night stared down at the reports, waiting for other Hunters to report.

Ziarre nodded, accepting her mission. She and Rath walked out of Night's room. It was a relief to not be under the stare of a man she thought was too powerful to be one of the Hunters. Her body shook. Rath snuggled against her. She slid her hand down the big cat's back, calming herself.
" I'm afraid of him. And I don't know why...." Ziarre said to herself as she and her companion walked down the hallway, towards the doors of the grand manor she resided in.
______________________________________

An hour later, Ziarre and Rath were inspecting the area around the water tower. The police did a good job of cleaning it up, but, like always, they always left bits of evidence behind. Rath sniffed around, trying to catch the scent of the demon. Ziarre bent down to check a blood splatter on the ground. She tested its freshness by tasting some of the blood.
" Hmm....probably 5 to 6 hours old perhaps. Geez, did the mop-up take that long?"
You know how the police are in this city...always floundering around like children... Rath replied telepathically.
" With the amount of murders lately, I think they just want to get the corpses out of the way of normal people... in other words they've become slack," Ziarre replied, now sniffing a different blood splatter. It had a definite pungent smell to it.
" Well it seems one of the victims hurt the demon before it killed them. This blood splatter definitely smells like demon. Disgusting!"
Remember you're half demon... Rath replied.
" Don't remind me. It's not like it was exactly my choice!" Ziarre snarled back. Rath laughed.
Don't worry Ziarre. I don't take it personally.
" You'd better not."

Ziarre stood up and stretched her back. The light, fire-proof trenchcoat seemed to become heavier as the night progressed on. She yawned.
" Well the demon isn't going to come to us, is it?" Ziarre asked Rath. No answer. Ziarre spun around to look for her wildcat. He'd disappeared.

Rath's screaming roar echoed through the neighbourhood. Ziarre spun around to the direction it came from. Her eyes narrowed. A great beast trudged out of the nearby brush. Ziarre could see a wound in its thick, bulky arm.
" So you're the one who killed all those humans?" she addressed the demon with a fiery tone. Rath brushed up against her leg, signalling his return.
The demon smiled, well, what you would call a demon smile. Its hide was smoky grey and it had a head of an ogre with ram's horns on either side of it. A thin opening in it head was what you would call a mouth. In Ziarre's brilliant green eyes, a small fire had started.

The demon laughed.
" I am the one who disposed of those filthy humans," a growling voice eminated from the hole in its head. Rath stood poised to attack.
" You know what I am..." Ziarre hissed.
" A Hunter. But you can't destroy me. You are too small and weak. I am too powerful for you. The only Hunters I'm worried about is Night and the pyrokinetic," it gloated.
Ziarre smiled. " We'll see about that."

A small fire sprung up around the demon. His expression turned into one of horror. Ziarre felt the fire inside herself pass through her and set ablaze the grass at the demon's feat. It danced around, looking like a complete fool, trying to extinguish the flames.
" Fool..." Ziarre said coldly, becoming the ruthless Hunter she had proven to be. The fire grew more intense. The heat radiating from it set alight the dry grass around her and Rath. The cougar was not fazed by the fire, as since he had grown up with Ziarre, his coat had become fire-proof.
" Die you bastard!"

The fire suddenly became a tornado and incinerated the demon in an instant. Ziarre dropped to her knees. All the fires dissapated. Rath strolled over to her.
Are you all right Ziarre?
" Yeah. It gets harder everytime. Am I weak Rath?" Ziarre admitted.
You're not Ziarre. But something is definitely wrong. Perhaps we'll go back to the manor so you can rest.
" No. I don't want to see the other Hunters, especially Night, to see how weak I've become..."
You're not weak Ziarre...
" Then why is this happening?"
I ...I don't know.
" Lets just go away from here and let me rest. That's all I ask."
All right.

Rath supported Ziarre as she stood up. She, with the help of Rath, limped away from the scene.

OOC: Sorry went a bit overboard with it. Sorry.

Rebecca calmly walked out of the double doors onto the balcony and stared across the night sky. There was a light hint of red on the horizon, usually from the lights of the city. There was a strange feel to the air.

Rebecca brought her eyes to the small clearing below the balcony and saw her massive white tiger companion. His head was tilted upwards, pearing back at her with his large blue eyes. He was such a gorgeous animal and he reminded her that she wasn't completely alone in the world.

Rebecca unwrapped her wings from around her neck and stretched them behind her. Jumping to the railing, Rebecca balanced herself with her massive black wings before swooping down beside her friend. Alender rubbed his head against her stomach as she stroked his head in return.

(What is are mission tonight?) Alender's sweet physic voice entered her thoughts.

"We are to look for someone that kills by the name of "Queen of Hearts". They like to decapitate thier victims and then taking their hearts from their chest." Rebecca whispered to her friend as she shifted her wings uncomfortably. "Her last kill was made in the city, and the humans have already envolved themselves. But I'm sure that you and I will have no troubles finding this killer." Rebecca smiled wickedly as she made her way to her feet.

(Of course.) Alender spun around and darted into the trees. Rebecca watched him for a moment before taking to the sky. Rebecca kept her senses open to Alender signals as they raced closer and closer to the city. As Alender searched the city below for the last place the Queen of Hearts had attacked, Rebecca circled above pearing down into the city in hope to catch a glimse of something.

(I have found the site.) Alender's voice rang clear in Rebecca's mind as his sight was transfered to her. She swooped down into the city and found her companion in a back alley. Fresh blood still stained the walls and ground. The human clean up crew had done a horrible job this time.

"Can you find the killer's scent, my Alender?" Rebecca looked about the alley, not finding any real signs for her to pick up.

(She has fleed to the south.)

"Follow her," Rebecca damned.

Alender was off, Rebecca not far from him.

Sorry its taken so long for me to post, I've been away in Wales.

Phoenix crouched on the corner of the roof, crossbow in hand and sword on back. He was waiting for his enemy. Suddenly, a shadowy movement. He raised the crossbow and fired, throwing out five bolts in rapid succession, striking his target in the head, neck and shoulder. It went down, screeching and burning into a pile of charred flesh, owing to the bleesed crossbow bolts Phoenix's crossbow was loaded with.
He then decided that maybe he had better report to Night for his mission. He was late as it was. He leapt down from the roof, and hit the wet ground, throwing up splashes. His wolf, Kathra, emerged from a shadowy alley to join him. He stroked her to show his appreciation and ran in the direction of Night's office. Night was going to kill him...

Zet grinned when she heard her mission even though Night did insult her but, it didn't really matter to her. That was just his opinion not hers even though that she knew she was a bit of a clutz. Zet walked to the barn and pull out her motorcyle, reveeded it up and climbed on it. Ranpu jumped in the side seat and Zet speed off towards the tech industry district. After a few minutes zet had reached the outsirts of the district. She parked her bike in an ally and walked slowly down the emtpy streets. What do you want me to do? When Zet heard Ranpu's voice she jumped from the sudden sound in the queitness. Ummm? Why don't you do a search? I'm gonna go to that building. Zet said and pointed as Ranpu and Zet seperated. Zet soon came across a abadoned builing with the revolting smell of demons lingering in the air. Activating her Shadow Rune, Zet faded with the shadows and creap towards the enterence. Once in she saw what Night had predicted, a summoning. As Zet stepped closer she saw something on tied to a pole, A child! Zet moved towards the child but something grabbed her turning around quickly Zet saw the face of the demon.
" Hey fella's this girls got demon blood. But what's this there's a bit of human blood in her! Lets see if you can get ride of it!" When the demon said the last sentence he pulled out a long sharp dagger covered in blood stains. Zet guessed this demon was the one who was summoning because of his skill to detect her demon blood. As the dagger neared her skin Zet leaned down and knocked his legs out from under his body. The dagger slipped and scratched Zet's skin. A gasp of pain escaped as Zet threw a seires of neddles at the demons that were now surrounding her. The demons dropped dead but more came out of the portal. I need to close that portal! Ranpu I need you! In a flash the snow leoperd appeared and cast a spell to dispact the demons. What do you need me for? I need you to close that portal with the strongest ice cap you can make. But demons use fire magic and that would...
" Just do it!" Zet shouted and Ranpu nodded and rushed off to go to work. Zet keep the demons at bay by slashing at them with her cyber spear and throwing random neddles. Zet hoped over to the ice cap thatr Ranpu had created and using a neddle she craved a rune into the ice. The area grew silent and the demons dissappeared. The one that had cut her ran up and grapped the child and ran out of the building. When Zet tried to run after him she noticed that she couldn't move. That dagger must of have paralizing posion.
" Let's stay hear for a bit intill this crap wears off Ranou." Zet said sadly. Ranpu nodded and licked the wound.

Cold grinned placidly as he watched the bewithced one dispatching his lackies. He drank experimentaly from his his wine glace. (He always has one on hand, when traveling he simply freezes it!)
"Master. This summoing is importent, is it not?" Silra whispered into Cold's ear.
"Heheh, yes dear. Yes it is, quite importent really. Just having a little sport. Besides, she was injured, if it wasn't for her demonic blood she would already be dead."
"But, Master, Lord Yggdrasill will be angered if his emmasary cannot enter. Should be not strike now?" Silra replied, bowing.
"As usual, your argument is compelling. I will deal with her, you unseal the portal. I do not belive I wil have trouble with her companion, and in her present state she is useless." Cold stated, laughing to himself, drawing his rapier from its sheeth silently.
"Of course, my Master." Silra bowed, and disapeared in a puff of smoke.

Phoenix stood quietly outside Night's office. He knew he was in for it. He heard muffled voices throught the door, and then footsteps moving towards the door. He moved quickly away from the door and pretended to be examining some archaic artifact on a shelf. The door of Night's office creaked slowly open and Selino walked throught the open doorway, closing the door behind him. Phoenix turned nonchalantly and said:
"Oh hi, Selino, how's it going?"
"Night is not happy with you, Phoenix, but he has decided to let you off this time due to the fact that you are late because you were hunting."
"Thanks a bunch, Selino."
"It is not me you should be thanking, Phoenix, it is Master Night."
"Sure thing, Selino."
"Now report in for your mission. I need to take your weapons from you. You know Night's rules."
"Ok, here you go." Phoenix handed the elderly retainer his sword and crossbow, took a deep breath and entered Night's office...

The effigies looked upon the solitary maiden with kindly expressions mocked by the cold stone from whence they were carved. On the altar was a heart encrusted with dry blood to which she whispered a prayer that echoed through the abandoned church.

?You have sinned but did not repent
Thus I have granted you ease and eternal silence
May you find mercy for your wretched soul.?

?Are you alright, Mistress??
The woman was startled at the high pitched warble that broke her thoughts. A cardinal was perched atop the Virgin Mary and looked at her with the same thoughtful expression the Virgin had. ?Oh, yes,? Lisette replied. With her bare hands she picked the heart up and gently placed it inside a gilded box. ?I?m fine. Now, what news of the summoning??

?You must hurry, lady. You know how tetchy the Krankenhaus demons are.?
?And??
?Master Night sends word: The Hunters are afield. One I passed on my way here.?
?Very well??

Lightning flashed as the church doors suddenly flew open. In the entrance stood two figures: an ashen tiger and its lady keeper. Brilliant blue shone through the darkness that overshadowed her guests; surely the taller one was a Hunter. The Hunter stepped into the dim light and looked intently at Lisette.

?Well met, half-demon. What affairs have you with me??
?My affairs concern the Queen of Hearts alone. Make known yourself.?
?Tell me, lady Hunter, will knowing my name aid you in your search??
?ARE you the Queen of Hearts??

Lisette gave out a theatrical sigh of defeat. She scooped the heart out of the box and held it out for her guests to see. Her lips arched into a smile.

?I?m a very busy woman, lady Hunter. The circumstances allow me to give you no more than two courses of action: Have at me another day or I shall be forced dispose of you now? quickly.?

Rebecca looked at the woman from her postion, the warm glow of candles bouncing off her face. She was a beautiful create, that she was. Rebecca felt her tiger tense beside her. He drew back his lips and snarled a most wickedly.

Rebecca smiled at her beast's reaction to the sealed heart, he could smell its flesh rotting away inside the box and could smile its blood still lingering on the woman's flesh. She laid a gentle hand onto her companions head and he flinched invalintary.

"I may let you go to fight with you another day, but only after you tell of your intentions for the organ." Rebecca's words seemed to seep from under her lips in a very gentle, yet threatening way.

Rebecca slid her hand onto the hilt of Razara, but made no move to pull it from her side. Rebecca may have hated demons and anything of the like, but she wasn't foolish. She could tell that this woman was very powerful in her own rights and acting too aggressively could cause problems, especially inside a church.

Rebecca remained in her perfect little stance as she waited for the woman to reply.

((Action needs to be kicked up? Alright then...))
------------------
"Your late Phoenix..."
Night was staring out a window, the reports dangling limply from his hand. Shirow was sitting near the fireplace, watching carefully.
"But, considering the circumstances, we can let it go this once. Now, we have a problem. On one of their raids, the police stumbled on a small gathering of acolytes. This alone doesnt present a problem, but there was also a rather powerful demon. They havent killed all of the police, there's still two officers left. Kill the demon and the acolytes, try to save the police if it doesnt put you in danger, otherwise let them die. Then meet up with Zet in the tech industry. Its not that I doubt her skills, I doubt her ability to refrain from collateral damage."
Night handed him a paper with the coordinates. Phoenix bowed and left. Shirow looked at Night.
Whats wrong master?
"Hmm...I dont know. I cant shake the feeling that I will regret sending Zet to deal with that meeting alone..."
She's very powerful master. You shouldnt worry.
"Perhaps not...Shirow...do me a favor...I want you to prowl the city. Be my eyes, so to speak. Im tired of sitting on the sidelines. Lets find-"
A rather large explosion rocked the mansion. Night hit the ground and rolled to avoid one of the suits of armor he kept in his room. Getting back up, he ran to the balcony. He could still see the explosion dissipating in the slums.
"Well...least we dont have to sit idly by...the slums...well, police wont bother with this one..."
Leaping off the balcony, he nearly landed on Phoenix.
"Follow me! Now!"
Night flipped open a cell phone and began to dial the other Hunters.
"We have a situation in the slums. Im on my way with Phoenix, meet me at Raglad."
Raglad was one of the many abandoned houses in the slums, but it was one of the few that the Hunters could always retreat to in times of emergency. Night sprinted to the slums, Shirow close behind

Zet moved her hand and watched it shake, Ranpu had healed her wound and was able to draw out most of the posion. In the slince Zet heard a pop and a sword being pulled out of a sheeth. Keeping her cool Zet began to draw another rune, when her phone vibrated. She let it ring and when she finshed her drawing in the ice the phone stopped. Zet had learned the hard way to turn her phone on silent when she was on a inforomation gatering mission.Zet then grapped the phone and listened to Night's voice. Sighing Zet turned to Ranpu and stared at her with sad eyes.

I need you to go to Raglad.
That place in the slums? Why?
Yes and becaues I can't leave here. There's still one of them left.
Okay, do you want me to send help?
NO! I can do this on my own.
Okay but, call me if you get in trouble. And I won't let them know anything that happened here. You can tell Night about the child.
After Ranpu said that she raced out of the building and towards the slums with a note from Zet in her mouth that said, Night sorry. I can't make it to the slums and please don't send anybody else here. And don't worry the summoning was just a couple of demons having fun. Oh ya and I haven't damaged anything yet. I'll be back before the sun comes up. And don't send Ranpu back. Try to take care of her till I get back, I don't want her to get hurt. Zet stood up and braced herself for an attack.
" Whoever's there come out! And don't underestmate me! I'm a whole lot strong than I look!" Zet shouted as she loosened a few neddles.

Cold laughed his small, piercing laugh, as he stepped from the shadows.

"Very good, Demoness. Very good. I must applaud your determination." Cold said, not even a hint of carring in his voice.

"H-How dare you..." The girl, her teeth gritting, replied, "I am not a demon!"

"Touchy. Yes, as I would expect from sombody with the blood of Master Yimir. Raped your mother, kidnapped you, taught you. Master Yimir was quite the fool. In fact I am glad that you killed my former Master." Cold said, laughing.

"I defeated the basterd, what more is there? You will follow step, and perish as did the countless of your kind!" The girl yelled back, five needles leeping from her hand.

"Pitiful." Cold laughed, as the needles thudded into a wall of ice. Cold went alert as the ice wall melted away. The girl was gone. Intently, Cold scanned the surrounding building for her, hoping to catch sight of the demoness. The attack came from where he never expected. In front. Invisable, a clawed hand struck out at Cold, only to meet yet another wall of ice.

"Die!" Her venomess voice rang out, as her other hand dodged nimbly around the ice wall.

"Master!" Silra screamed, meteriallizing in her polar bear form. Claw met claw, as Silra's powerful arms thrust the girl backwards.

"Good timing, Silra." Cold chuckled under his breath. Suddenly, a large cracking sound filled the room, follwed by a massive crash and a wooshing sound. "Well, Demoness, it appears my Masters will be along shortly. I have a mind to finish this on my own, so prepare to fight me. En garde."

OOC: Master Yimir is supposed to be the demon who raped Zet's parents, the reason I picked that name is the Ice Giant Yimir from Norse mythology, which is kool..
Anyway, let's get this fight started!

Phoenix ran to the slums, trying to keep up with Night. Goddamn it he was fast. Phoenix decidd to cheat. He drew up the runes in his mind, and activated the Typhoon Rune. He ran at unbelievable speeds towards the slums, his trenchcoat flapping furiously behind him. He called upon the deactivation runes, seeing that he was nearly at the slums. It took him the rest of the distance to stop. He saw the location of the explosion. It had wrecked a small building, leaving nothing but smoking wreckage and ruin. He turned to see Night arrive in the slums.
"I never want to see you misuse your rune like that again, Hunter," he said fiercely.
"No sir," Phoenix said obligingly.
"H...h...help m-m-me!" Phoenix heard a weak voice from the shadows. He ran to find who was calling. He followed the voice, and it led him deep into the shadows.
There was now no voice, and it had been replaced by a deep hissing.
"You'll never stop me, Hunter!" said a voice. A female demon jumped at him from the shadows, and he rolled with the impact. He ended up lying on the floor with this female demon on top of him, reaching for his throat.
"You'll make ever such a tasty dinner, Hunter," she said coldly. Suddenly, there was a slicing sound, and blood poured out of the demon's mouth and onto Phoenix's face. It looked like Night had stabbed the creature. Damn that guy was good.
"Thank you sir," Phoenix said humbly.
"Don't worry about it, Hunter, just doing what you should have done. Now don't listen to any more faceless voices. We need to find out what went on here, and wait for the other Hunters."
"Yes sir."

Rebecca growled as she felt the phone in her vest pocket vibrate. She looked at the woman and down at Alender. There was nothing she could do.

"We shall meet again, Queen of Hearts." Rebecca smiled at the woman and priest as she vanished back out the doors she came through.

"What?" she growled into the phone.

"Meet at Raglad." she heard Night's voice then a click as he hung up.

(What is it?) Alender sat patiently at Rebecca's side.

"We meet in the slums." She looked down at the white tiger, irratation running across her face.

(What for?)

"I don't know." She said bitterly.

Rebecca threw her wings opened and turned her attention to the other side of town. She hated the slums. She had spent a great deal of her life there, running and fighting not only the creatures of the night, but of the light as well. Why did they have to have a place to run to there?

(Will you be alright?)

"Fine, my dear Alender." she caressed her sweet companions head for a moment before lifting herself off the ground.

(Shall I meet you there?)

"Since I do not trust this city, yes. I would like that of you." She spoke softly, still just above Alender's head.

He nodded slightly and leaped to his feet, dashing in the direction of the slums. Rebecca watched him for a moment then turned her attention to the church. "We shall meet again, Queen of Hearts." Rebecca whispered before she rose gloriously to above the buildings and soured towards the slums.

We shall meet again, Queen of Hearts
?In due time, lady Hunter?? Lisette said to herself as the shadow of the half-demon streaked across the rose windows.

?Miss Lisette??
?Hmm? You sensed it too. Just now? Irrepressible bloodlust.?
?You don?t mean??
?Yes. I believe we?ve found her. Where were they headed??
?But, Miss, the demons might??
?Oh they won?t mind. Come, Poppy.?

She returned the heart to its container and beckoned the cardinal to follow her. Candle flames licked the noiseless air as the pair passed the dimly-lit aisle. High up the wall at the end of the passageway was a wooden shelf that housed five boxes similar to the one Lisette now held.

?I?ve found the seventh heart, my loves. Soon you will be complete. Just wait.?
Once the sixth box was in place, the shadows rose and covered the pair in a cloak impenetrable to light. When at last the candle flames stilled, they were gone.

OOC: Hope you don't mind my character hunting yours, demonchild. Tell me if I misread her bio. XD

Night stared at the ruined warehouse from his perch on Raglad's roof. He glanced down as Ranpu made his way into the building. Glancing back, he saw dark figures flit in and out of the fires.
"Acolytes...and demons..."
He backflipped onto the ground, leaving cracks on the floor. Rising, he took the note from Ranpu.
"...crap...Phoenix. Zet wont be coming....I just hopse Rebecca and Ziarre arent detained elsewhere as well. Judging by the number of acolytes here, they did a very big summoning."
Night stopped when his cell phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Tell me Hunter...have you ever seen the world through a veil of flames?"
The hunter immediately threw himself backwards, grabbing Phoenix and Ranpu and hurling them out a window as Raglad became a firestorm. He yelled as the flames burned through his cloak before finally leaping out a window. He landed heavily near Phoenix.
"Argh! Damnit! Phoenix! Are you-"
He was cut off when a hell hound smashed into his side. Before Phoenix could help, another smashed into him.
"Its a trap! Fight!"

Rebecca swooped low into the depths of the slums, the ranke smell filled her nostrils as she took in the sight of flames.

"Alender!" she bellowed, knowing that her companion would hear her.

(It is Raglad that has now caught in flames. There are Acolytes and demons running wild here. I fear that our companions are in danger.) As the last word entered Rebecca's mind, she was sent Alender's vision. He was fast approaching the burning building once known as Raglad. But that wasn't the sight that sent her heart racing, it was Night being attacked by two hell hounds. Rebecca didn't say a word to her companion he knew already that he must free Night of them. He flew into the air like a white blur and tackled one of the savagest beasts. A fierce roar and a sharp shriek rang out before the hell hound lay dead.

Rebecca was soon at the scene to free Night of the other hell hound with Razara. She landed with a slight noise as she approached Night and helped him to his feet noticing that there were more than just the five of them there.

"What's going on?" Rebecca's emotionless voice rang above the noise of the fire.

OOC: Sorry i haven't replied lately. school is really getting my time.

Ziarre and Rath sat down inside the main park of the city, the night breeze cooling Ziarre's fiery soul. They had rested for a few hours. Ziarre had regained her strength and was ready to return when a huge smoke stack rose into the sky. Rath smeeled the smoke. The scent of demon wavered on it.
Ziarre...fire...smoke....demons...
" I know. I can feel the fire," Ziarre replied, feeling the burning sensation inside her heart.

In a few minutes, Ziarre and Rath looked around the warehouse. Rath could hear hell hounds circle them. Small fires burned slowly outside. Ziarre felt their hot power run through her, it was a feeling she loved.
Hell Hounds .... Rath said.
" Let them come," Ziarre said with raw power echoing through her voice.

One hound launched itself at Ziarre. She dodged it. Fire spewed forth from Ziarre's green eyes and incinerated the hound. Rath circled around Ziarre, protecting her as she looked around for others that dared attack her.

Suddenly, Ziarre sensed the other Hunters.
" NIGHT! PHOENIX! WHERE ARE YOU! IT'S ZIARRE!"
