For me, it's a tie between Kenshin and Getbackers. Both of those series have entertaining casts, quality action, and fitting humor (although I might have to give Getbackers the edge because it's humor tends to be funnier than Kenshin's). Naruto comes very close, but I prefer the slightly more complex plots of Kenshin and Getbackers. Yuyu Hakusho is fun action show, and the manga and possibly the Japanese version of the anime (haven't seen it; didn't really like the dub) of One Piece is enjoyable. Most of the other stuff I don't really care about.

*bursts into tears* You forgot Hunter x Hunter!

If we're talking about manga (which I assume we're not, but whatever), Death Note definitely takes the cake. As for anime, however, I like Hunter x Hunter even more than the first two seasons of Kenshin and my beloved Yu Yu Hakusho.

But before I preach about my adoration for HxH, I have to mention that I don't really think Get Backers, Bleach or Beet fit in with the remainder of the series on your list. Bleach and Beet both debuted on TV this season, and not very many episodes of either have been released; Get Backers is only fifty-two episodes long, which makes it significantly shorter than the rest of the titles included in the poll. If I recall correctly, most of the other shows either kept going until they were cancelled, or are still currently running in Japan; Get Backers was originally scheduled to be only two seasons long. It's not an earth-shattering difference by any means, but it's probably the main reason Get Backers boasts such consistent artwork and slick-looking action. So I'd personally knock those three anime off the list.

Anyway. Hunter x Hunter is from the same manga-ka as Yu Yu Hakusho. The main difference between them is scale--Hunter x Hunter has nothing to do with saving the world. It's more like a coming-of-age story, and it's simply the most charming and exciting shounen action anime I've ever seen. Togashi skillfully weaves together an enormous and diverse cast filled with all sorts of quirky, loveable and love-to-hate-able characters. The animation is stunning, at least for a long series that first began airing in 1999. Better yet, the anime contains absolutely no filler and follows the manga's storyline to a T.

While the plot is excellent and it contains some of the most memorable fight scenes I've ever watched, the characters are what really make this show. As I marathoned my way through Hunter x Hunter, I found myself screaming in frustration, flinging things at the screen, crying from relief and generally feeling very strongly for the four leads. Just seeing
Kurapica and Leorio's
two-second cameos at the end of the G.I. Final OVA evoked a huge flood of emotion in me. I haven't gotten that involved in many anime--it reminded me of how I had felt when watching Nadia and Revolutionary Girl Utena, two of my all-time favorite series.

But the main reason to see Hunter x Hunter is obviously Hisoka. ^_~

Naruto takes the gold because of its sheer brilliance and the fact that they're freaking NINJAS.

The plot twists and details that Kishimotto-sensei works so perfectly to create scenarios that you kick yourself for not being able to see coming (the development and key events are so subtle, it's almost creepy), along with the character designs, are simply stunning.
The whole manga has this hard-to-place mood, which is amplified by the clothing and architecture.

I love the way everything is so layered when you see shots of Konoha, especially.

Everything just sort of...works.

Okay, for me it has to be Dragonball/Z, hands down. This is the only one of my favorite series that ties with Sailor Moon, my fav. Yeah, I know, Sailor Moon and Dragonball, but those are my two favorite series. Anyways, I've just always been a major fan of high action anime.

I also like Yu-Gi-Oh!, the original version, not the editted dub. The series is really good, and the same goes for Shaman King. I guess because both of these series have a lot to do with spirits and magic all mixed in with a lot of fighting. Oh, yeah, and I can't forget about GetBackers. That series is just really cool; a good mix of action and comedy.

Okay, so I listed more than one. When it comes to my favorite anything involving anime, the top ones are usually really close. But as I stated earlier, Dragonball is my favorite. :D

It's a tie between Naruto, DBZ, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Naruto and DBZ are excelent fighting series like any other. But what makes them great is how down to earth they are. People die. Main characters die. Lost to never return. The main characters don't always make it through a conflict like magic. Near the end of DBZ, Only 4 of the 150 odd characters are alive, only one earthling, a dog and 2 warriors. Earth has been destroyed, and everyone died. As for Yu-Gi-Oh, the anime was totally butchered by censors but the manga kept the original feel of the characters and life or death situations.

One Piece is my favourite, simply because love the sheer simplicity, and I'm amused by the toally wacky enamies/allies etc. I was extremly disappointed by the dub, especiall the guy who plays Luffy. It's the same dude who does Chris on Sonic X, and he sounds like a chick... and not the good kind. Plus they changed Zoro to Zolo, wtf?

A close second is Naruto. I love the fact that is is simple in it's complexity, has great fight/romance scenese, and it's about NINJAS! What anime about NINJAS can't be awsome? (That's retorichal)

Well, just so you know, it's Beet the Vandel BUSTER, not blaster. And, secondly, you frogot Sand Land, but I cant blame you. Sand Land was... very very strange.

Also, I liked Yu-Gi-Oh!, Manga version. THe TV version... frankly. sucked royaly. But the Manga had all the sidestories, such as Monster World, which are vital to making the series interesting. Since I didn't like the Anime atall, I'm going to say it's numero 3!

The rest aren't bad, the only one I dislike is DBZ, since, well, it's soooo repetitive.

Another thing that should be brought to attention are the AD's! Comon, for AD's they really are interesting. Because it's japenese it gives you the low-down on all the new video games about to hit the shelves, accurate manga dates, and other good stuff.

And, in closeing, I would like to say, Morpheaus, wtf are you talking about? In DBZ, it's true main charecters die alot, but the never STAY dead! the DBs always whish them back to life, and we start all over again. As for the ending, a hell of alot more then 4 people and a dog were left alive. Goku got all the enery to destroy Buu FROM the people of Earth, the entire world was still there. Besides, they just wished those that had died back to life, using the DBs. That's why I dont like DBZ, atall.
