As everyone groaned and took their places on the floor, some leaves blew through the gap in the half opened door.
Mrs. Archer, the teacher who was assigned to this trip sighed and pulled out a cell, starting to call all the parents.

The guide shuffled around, looking at everyone with a cold stare, as if he was searching for something to blame on them. Then he spotted the two best friends, Rita and Connor.
He looked down his nose at them and scoffed, thinking nothing of the feeling he got from them.

'I must remember to contact that McGrath....' he though, taking a mental note.
'It's best not to take any chances these days...'

So the afternoon wore on as spare sheets and mattresses were taken and laid out for the students to rest if they wanted to. If anything, the storm was getting worse and it looked as if it would snow.

Connor sighed and shook his head looking out of the window, he would be doing some exploring no matter what and he just hoped there were others like him out there.

Carter had her hoodie?s hood pulled tightly around her head, and helped one of the grownups bring the last mattress inside. They had a little trouble getting it in the door. Once the door was closed, Carter leaned against the wall to breath, taking off her hoodie.

Her dark grey eyes (witch eyes, she remembered her classmates taunting) watched the students; she was drawn to the boy by the window. Conner, she remembered being told. He had the same blue edge as her. She didn?t know how she saw this, and why no one else did.

Witch.

That was what they had called her. Carter had scoffed at the idea; witches were just an idea the church used to scare little children into going to Mass on Sunday nights. But know the raven-haired teen wasn?t so sure. She could see different lights around each person, and some people had blue, like her.

Witch.

The world ran through her head again and again, until she realized she was staring into the eyes of the boy by the window. She dropped her eyes, flushing with embarrassment. When Carter looked back up, he was still watching her with a thoughtful gaze. Her natural thought was, Is my hair messed up? She glanced unobtrusively at her flare-legged black jeans, boots, and black tank top.

Rain pounded on a gray windbreaker jacket, spattering and sliding to the ground. Adrian clutched his camera inside the soft black interior of the jacket, praying none of the rain got to it. He arrived at his destination and stopped by the door, sheltered from the rain. He leaned a moment on the wall, catching his breath.

The story was, some school class had gotten caught in the storm and were stuck here. Even if it wasn't a major event, finding a good story was hard these days. Adrian ducked inside and looked around at the mess of students. His camera was now out in front of him, waiting for him to decide what would make a good picture.

Greg wasn't here yet. It didn't matter. He could still take pictures, even if the novice journalist hadn't arrived. That was the way of things. Greg wrote the story, Adrian took the pics.

He walked around a bit, glad to be in the warm air. These students were an odd bunch. Maybe it was just because they were from out of town, he thought. He noticed someone famliar next to a wall.

"Carter." He said with a not entirely friendly voice. He knew the rumors. She was one to watch. She only nodded back, clearly seeing his dislike of her and her type. Meanwhile Adrian turned to the bunch of students splayed across the floor, tilting his head once in a while to find a good photo.

Little he knew that small tugging in the back of his mind was the call of one witch to another. And that in Carter's sight, his aura shone clear blue.

Daniel stormed through the mansion to his study. The idea that he had failed again in his quest to bring back the old methods surged through his head. How was he supposed to hide his past if not with the death of others.

It had been the one of his family for centuries. They hid their true identity through the sacrifice of others. But the family had been looking for a way to cast off that which they were ashamed of.

He felt a shiver down his spine. Now that hadn't happened in a long time. He cast it off believeing it to be the cold rather than a witch in the region. The witches of the region had died off long ago anyway. He was the only one left in Salem and no one was going to find out that secret.

He decided to take a walk even if it was raining outside. It might help to calm him down. It usually did. He grabbed his large trenchcoat off the chair and headed outside.

Rita sat against the wall with a blanket about her shoulders. She gave a small sigh from shear bordem. In her hand she hed a mug of hot cocoa that soemone had given her. Sipping at it, she looked around at her fellow stundents and the other people that had come in out of the storm. Blah, I despise the rain.

Rita watched the photograpeher as he took picture of her other classmates. Her attation was drawn to a girl in a hoodie. She was staring at Connor and rita could sense something different about her. She though she heard the photographer call her Carter. She shrugged her shoulders and looked back into her mug.

So bored. Wish there was something else to do than just sit here. Rita got up and pulled the blankets off her should. Taking a second she folded the blanket and set it neatly down. She walked over to the window which Connor had turned back, too.

"Anything intresting out there?" Rita asked coming up behind Connor. She looked out at the rain coming down on the streets. "there doesn't look to be. Unless of course you like watching the rain." Rita grinned up at Connor.

Allen shivered slightly and spared a moments thought on his pack. It was waterproof, but how much more of this could it stand? He shook the water from his eyelashes and looked forward. Salem was just coming into view. The Church wanted him to make a pass through the town every once in a while just to make sure there was no more activity. He'd never had any run-ins before, but that doesn't mean that there won't be any.

He'd just come from Lowell. He'd been on assignment to track down a runaway, but he'd blown the rest of his cash on a quick planetrip from the western seaboard. The target had been delt with. He'd called The Vatican and they said that there'd be a package at the Salem postoffice with more money in it for him. He stopped and clenched his fists. He'd forgotten about the damn debit card again...

Allen- "Damn technology..." He glanced up again. Salem loomed on the horizon. He'd be there in an hour or so. He blinked and smiled looking back down to the asphault road and his worn boots. He'd have to have them re-soled before long. He's been doing a lot of walking lately, enjoying a lot of the places he's been going to. It didn't really mtter that he was one of the Churches dirty little secrets. The money was good. The travel opportunities were great. And he was the best at what he did. His hand went absentmindedly to his belt and touched the long knife that was held there. He smiled and slippd his hand back into the pocket of his trenchcoat.

His backpack vibrated slightly. Corey stopped, eyes wide. No... It couldn't be. It was just routine. He walked over to a tree on the side of the road and opened his backpack. He quickly sorted through the massive amounts of 'stuff', and took out a small glass globe with a crucifix in the center. He watched it for several seconds before putitng it back in the pack. He tied it closed, sealing the rain from the inside, and stood back up.

A false alarm. A plane probably flew overhead with a Witch or Warlock on board. The object was an ancient object. It had been made somewhere near 400AD by a Catholic priest and has the power to detect practicers of the Craft. It only vibrates when magic is being used. Most people don't even know they're using magic when it happens. They can't fall asleep so they inadvertantly cast a spell. They're nervous on a plane so the calm their nerves with magic. These kind of people are classed as low risk by the Church. They don't know they're Witches or Warlocks. It's the people that do that they're worried about. Allen shook his head and started walking again. He'd be there soon enough.

OOC I know it's pretty early, but I'm brining in some gory stuff, all will be revealed soon.

Connor pushed his glasses back up his nose and checked his hair in the reflection, having long hair was a hassle, but getting it cut would seem like such a waste.
"Connor, you're so vain!" Rita laughed, shoving her friend lightly; chuckling as he did an over dramatic fall to lighten the mood. A few people turned and laughed as the boy pulled himself up, adjusting his shirt and hair once again. Then he felt it, like a sudden shock inside him. He looked around the hall and noticed a couple of the new arrivals shudder as well.

He looked to Rita and she returned his worried gaze, clutching at her chest as her heart pounded in her throat. Connor gasped and leant against the wall, a drip of sweat ran down his face before he saw it. A black shadow, the form of a dog, seemed to drift straight through the wall opposite. His eyes went wide and Rita screamed, gaining looks from the others around. Those two, Carter and Adrian had obviously seen it too and were backing away, towards Connor and Rita.

"Why aren't you moving!" Rita yelled as another shadow drifted though the wall. The first 'dog' was getting closer to one of the girls, who was happily gossiping with a friend.
"They can?t see them...." Connor said, his voice void of all emotion, taken by the fear of what he was seeing. But what came next stuck in his mind; the 'dog' reached a blond girl and opened its jaws to reveal two rows of razor sharp teeth. With a howl it pounced and bit into the girl's neck. She screamed and fell as a chunk of meat fell from the 'dogs' mouth, her blood pouring out in torrents. It was within that one moment that the whole place descended to anarchy.

A whole pack of the shadows had formed and were attacking students and it seemed that the only ones who could see them were Connor, Rita, Adrian and Carter, all of which were standing at the back of the hall, staring in absolute terror.
They watched, as friends were ripped apart and blood slowly stained the floorboards of the ancient hall, Connor could only imagine what it must have looked like to the...normal ones, as he often referred to them as. After 10 minutes the shadows had managed to kill all who had not escaped. They crowded around the four teens at the back of the room and bowed their heads before leaving and melting into the shadows.

Rita slid down the wall and sobbed, looking out at the gory scene before her. Teenagers, most of which were friends, lay dead, their blood still pouring from violent wounds. Stomachs ripped open, the contents spilling to the floor, all had claw marks and bite marks along their bodies, chunks of flesh taken out to feed those monsters.
Connor couldn?t...didn?t want to understand. Why where they the only ones who could see those creatures? Why did they seem to bow before leaving? Was it because he was a Warlock? He just couldn't understand any of this but found he couldn't cry, not matter how hard he wanted to.

After a few minutes everything seemed to be a blur as Connor slid down next to his best friend, looking up to the girl who stood next to him. She was crying, her tears flowing but no sounds coming form her, she was probably just as shocked as he was.
"Hell Hounds..." Connor looked up to see the guide standing in front of the four teenagers, the bottom of his pants stained with blood. His expression was one of shock and anger as he stared at the children, pure hatred reflected in his dark eyes.

"Leave now, those of Magick, you are not welcomed here...and we will kill you."

OOC Ah, haven't written a gory scene in ages, so sue me -.-;

Adrian just stared, mouth agape. His camera lay forgotten on the floor beside him, the hand that had held it twitching nervously. "W... What..." His eyes were wide in terror, his complexion turning paler. "Wi.... witch... craft."

He was shaking, his eyes suddenly darting all around the room. The guide in front of him repeated his statement with a more commanding voice. Adrian came back to reality and his attention turned to the man. "Wh-what?"

"You heard me witch. Leave now!" The guide stepped closer, and all four of the teens backed against the wall even harder. Adrian's mouth twitched.

"But... I... I'm not a witch, er, w-warlock. I... I can't be." He whirled around at the other three. "No... it's you... g-get away from me!" He started to back up, only to be pushed back towards them by the older man. "No!" Adrian cried out, "I'm not one of them! They... I hate them! You can't..."

"Enough!" Their guide took another step towards them, looming over the teenagers. Adrian jumped as a hand touched his shoulder. It was Carter's.

"You have to accept it now." She stared at him gravely. Adrian shook his head, not able to believe it. He stuttered several seconds before swiping her hand away. "Stay away from me!"

Carter?s grey eyes were full of pity. ?I?m sorry Adrian.? Her tone was bitter. ?I know you would prefer to go on living, hating me. But you can?t.? She turned to look at the guide. His aura pulsed a strong gold. She finally turned back to Connor, Rita, and Adrian.

?Guys, I think each of us has something special we can do as well as the basics. I can see auras.? Adrian?s eyes were wide with fright. Carter said, ?Adrian, me and you, and Connor and Rita, our aura?s are blue.? She turned to look at the guide, who was glaring, and seemed about to yell again. ?His is gold.? She closed her eyes against a flood of tears.

?Lets go.? She pulled her hoodie back over her head, and rushed out of the house, not pulling her hood up or waiting for the others. Oh, Jesus, no? As she ran down the street, ebony hair soaked, she didn?t know she was being watched. A cat, made of shadows, darted along side her, made of her projected emotions.

OOC: >> Well? that was interesting. ^_^

Daniel moved slowly down the path. His head suddenly began to throb. He knew that feeling. There were Hell Hounds in the village. Now why was that?

Hell Hounds hadn't been seen in Salem in over 1000 years. It must not have been a strange feeling that he had felt before, but the presence of other witches. Now things were beginning to get strange.

Perhaps the sudden occurance of this strange event would move the people towards his resolution. Daniel ran in the direction the feeling had come from. The Town Hall loomed ahead.

A priest of some sort seemed to by coming from the opposite direction. This could be a problem. He would have to remove this problem and Then deal with the other after. The witches could wait. It wasn't like they would be going anywhere after a run in with Hell Hounds.

He headed towards the Priest. "Ah, Good day," he yelled out. "Welcome to Salem my good sir."

Adrian just stood in disbelief. This went against everything he had been raised to believe. His mouth opened as if to say something, but he just stared. His eyes went from Connor and Rita to the man threatening them with death. After what seemed like forever, he took a step back and ran.

His camera lay like a momentum on the blood stained floor.

Rain hit his head and dripped down across his oddly red eyes. Though he never thought about it, they had always been an obvious mark of his peculiar heritage. The falling water seemed to entranz him a moment, and Adrian simply stared at the ground.

Shaking free of the feeling of being lost in oblivion, he looked up, about to run. Two men stood near the door and he froze. He watched them a moment and they stared right back, caught by surprise. Adrian's heart beat hard, though he didn't know why.

At last he ran again, heading subconsciously for a small park near his apartment. The grass squished beneath his feet, mud bubbling up from the soaked earth. He huddled near a tree and sat down. His legs were splayed out in frotn of him, his back against the tree and his head down. His eyes gazed unblinkingly at his hand in front of him.

The rain fell like a condemning sentence.

"Ah, Good day," he yelled out. "Welcome to Salem my good sir."

Waving as the man came over, he greeted him politely. The man nodded his head in reply simple for courtesy of acknowledgement

"Goody day, Priest." the man smiled wirily.
However, the Priest smiled in good just. "How are you...Hm, I've never seem to
have gotten your name,"

The man laughed lowly, "I am well, and my name is Daniel Pearson."

"That is good to hear my friend, I am Priest Terry M. Smith. A great joy to meet you." his eyes darted to the street then back, "I hope you've been enjoying your time here?"

He found the Priest irritating. "Actually I ---"

Suddenly, the man was cut off. A shift of black flew by. Then, along side it, a girl came running bye. Bumping into the man making him shake slightly. He quickly regained his ground. The Priest laughed lightly and the man grunted. Mumbling words underneath his breath. However, unsure if the Priest had heard him...Daniel went silent, noticing the girl had stopped the cat at her feet. The Priest and girl yelled something back and forth. Seemingly, Daniel listen to only certain portions of the conversation.

The Priest turned back to him. Slightly happier then before he apologized for the girl. Adding in a small joke. Not funny by the least bit, but the Priest meant not to be by the sound of his voice.

"What was it that you were going to say?"

"What was it that you were going to say," Terry asked.

"Ahh, only that you shouldn't be out on the road on a day like today," Daniel replied tentatively, though also irritated. "You've lived in Salem for a long time and you know how dangerous these storms can get."

He made to lead the priest to a some shelter, but it appeared the man wasn't going to move. Daniel started to get frustrated but controlled his face enough that he wasn't going to let it show.

"How about we get you under cover so that you don't get a cold," he asked.

"I'm sorry but I have to look after the girl," Terry replied.

"Who is she?"

Rita had stopped crying and looked around the room. Her eyes were red and her face somewhat puffy. Glancing around the room she felt on the edgeof tears once gain. Deverting her line of sight, she came to look at the guide. The Guide looked at her and it made Rita's skin want to crawl. A hand came to rest on her shoulder and Rita jumped.

"Come on we should go." Conner whispered in her ear. Rita got to her feet and nodded to Connor. They headed towards the door, Rita felt the glare of the Guide follow them the way. A chill was sent through her spine.

Taking one last look at the scene she felt the tears start to well up in her. She ofught them off. How could this have happened? I called to them, but they didn't listen. She began to wonder baout those strange dogs, why had they bowed to them. It was the wierdest thing she heard of. A drop of rain hit the top of Rita's head pulling her out of her thoughts. The rain didn't help the way she was feeling either.

"You know with all this rain it going to mes sup my hair." She could tell Connor was trying to cheer. She gave a half hearted laugh to her friend. Two people were standing outside talking and she could see Carter off in the distance. There was something at Carter's feet but she couldn't make it from the rain.

Allen wiped the rain from his eyes as he stepped into the hotel office. the light was bright and the temperature warm.

Matthew- "Allen McGrath. What brings you back this way so soon? Thought you'd been here not more than a year ago." He shook the hotel managers hand and smiled as he took his dripping coat. "I'll get this cleaned and dried, along with anything else you want."

Allen- "Thanks Matt. I know it's a little early for me coming around again, but I was in the area. Might as well, right?" Their eyes met. Allen knew the man didn't approve of what he did, and being one of the handful that did didn't help either. Still, he came every few years, pair well, tipped great, and never damaged anything other than the occasional dirt stain. The mood lifted and Matt smiled at him.

Matt- "What room do you want Allen? We're completely vacant. It's not exactly prime tourist season." Allen shrugged.

Allen- "How about 43?" Fourth floor, third room. Matt smiled and handed him a card key. Allen smiled back and handed Matt the debit card he fished out of his pocket.

Matt- "Hey, spiffy. Nice to see I'm not the only oldie that's moved on to the technological age." He swiped the card and rang it up. "How long are you going to be staying?"

Allen- "How long is the storm supposed to last?" Matt shrugged. "Just give me two days and you can charge more if I stay longer. Give everyone on your staff a hundred bucks too, you guys are the only people that remember me constantly." He smiled when he thought of the people over in the Vatican frowning when they saw seven or eighthundred bucks as tip in Salem. "Keep me posted if anything funky happens, ok?"

Matt- "Well there's a bunch of tourist kids trapped somwehere east of here in a building, we're going to go over there and give em a hand in moving into this hotel later. You wanna help?" Allen nodded, kids deserved more than a wood floor to sleep on.

Allen- "Yeah, for sure. Just give me a ring. when you're ready to go."

Adrian sat for what seemed like forever, the rain still pouring steadily on to the tree, and dripping down onto his head. Still, he only stared at his hand. What could he do? There were two sides to that question. The first was this; what could he do now that he had become what he had been taught to hate? How could he deal with himself?

The second was simple; what could he do now that he was a witch? A worlock, he corrected himself. Did he have some kind of mythical power? What were the extents of this new quality?

Hard footsteps, softened by the rain spattered ground, caught his ear. He looked up for the first time and saw Carter, still running. He had used a shorter, familiar path to get here, which is how she was behind him. He watched her a moment in slight shock.

Then, unsteadily, he stood and called after her. "Carter! Carter, wait!" He stumbled in the grass and was on his knees. "Carter! Please! Please wait..." His voice grew softer until it was pitifully quiet. "Please... help me..."

Before Terry had a chance to answer Daniel turned to see two kids starring down the road. The door to the building was open and another kid was running down the track.

"Shit," He swore under his breath. "Terry I want you to take care of these two kids here. Make sure they don't leave as I want to question them about a recent strange occurance."

Without getting a response he started to run after the other kid. Things were not looking good. All he had wanted was to take a walk, a bit stange because of the rain, but no, Hell Hounds had to attack a bunch of school kids and now one of the witnesses was running away. Could things get any worse.

Somewhere in the village was a new witch and their powers had awoken. It was the only reason that Hell Hounds would appear. he would have to find this witch and dispose of them.
