Well, as many of you know, I am only 15 and I have been looking for a job for quite some time. And today, God blessed me.

After school today, me and my brother were walking to his car to drive home, then underneath the windshield wiper, I found a ad saying that a job was opened for students at a store of some sort. But the huge thing that struck me, was I was going to be making $300 a week, if I got the job.

I called the place, they told me they wanted to come in to the store so they could show me what I would be doing, and if I really wanted the job. I have yet to go in but I am looking very forward to it.

But do any of you all have jobs, meaning the younger OBers, like around my age? And if so, do you like the job?

$300 a week? *Mind blows up*

Geez, what do they want you to do, scrub the floor with your tongue? Those are excellent wages...just keep in mind that it could be a full-time position ~_^

But still. Congratulations. I'm 15 too, and I really should get a job. I've thought that for quite a while now. Anyway, I am thinking more and more about who to ask for a job. I really need some cash.

Once again, congratulations and good luck.
WTF. What are they having you doing? That's insane. Even if I work 40 hours a week at my job I don't make that kind of pay.
I said the same thing. At first I thought it was some joke by some kid trying to be funny, but I called the place and its true. Heres the flyer that was passed out...
God has blessed you indeed. Would you mind killing me as a sacrafice to Him, by the way?
Not at all, just call that place, and meet me at my new job site... ^_~.

And God will eventually bless all of you... He just decided I should be first... lol.

But back to the topic, this really seems like a great oppurtunity for me. My mom is always telling me how I should get off the computer and read a book or do something... So at least Ill be doing something that will make me money.

I'm just taking a wild guess, but here's what I think they'd have you do for $300/week, "setting your own schedule"...

They're gonna want you to sign up about a handful of people for accounts or plans at this energy company. These people you signed up-- you're going to earn a small fraction of money everytime they pay their energy bills.

Then you'll need to recruit about 5 or 6 of your best friends, and get them to do your exact same job. They'll sign up a handful of people for energy plans, earn money each time those clients pay their bills, and you'll earn money everytime your friends (who will be working under you) earn money.

All together, this will equal roughly $300/week. In addition to that, you'll have to do some minor filing work at the energy company's office, which will only take you about 1 or 2 hours a week.

I got approached by one of these people once, not knowing what it was. I scheduled an interview with him, only to find out he wanted me to do the exact same things I mentioned above. Only difference was I was approached by a phone company. This whole thing is full of dead-ends. I guarantee you, if you call that number, you'll schedule a meeting with some guy in his mid 20s who will flash you with something expensive like keys to a new Lexus or his laptop computer.

My friend had this exact same job, only he worked for a knife company. My brother did it too, only he was selling newspapers. It sounds good in writing, and you'll probably get a nice and shiny presentation all about it, but this whole deal isn't for you if you don't think you can coerce perfect strangers into signing an energy plan from a 15 year old kid.

Yea.. you're probably right but at 15 there isn't really any job anyone would be willing to give you that would go somewhere. So at least it'd be counted as work experience for future opportunities. Unless you work in MacDonalds XD you can look forward to being manager after several 'loyal' years.

Honestly, it's really difficult to find a job to enjoy. At least a starting job, even so you may like some parts of it or just hate it in general but stick to it for the sake of the money.. oh well.. still, money is money.

I don't have a job and I recently turned 17, however I've been hoping to polish up my CV and my bilingual skills for a shot at working in a medical clinic as a late night or weekend receptionist over the holiday. ^_^ and maybe my mum or her friends could put in a good word for me, I know it'll be good money.. at least NZ$13 per hour which I'm guessing is at least $20 in American currency.

I have a job at Hungry Jack's. Yep. Nah, it's a pretty good job for a fast-food shop, put it that way.

I've made $342 at the most, but I worked a sixty hour week that week on an hourly wage of $5.48 or somethin'. With school. And I never want to do that again. I was stressed to the max, smoking over my limits, going off at everyone when they did nothin' wrong. That's wat no sleep does to you. Ha. :drunk:

O.k. don't diss McyD's cause I'm getting a job there soon. In about a week. McyD's may be gross but you can get a pretty good paycheck and a lot of hours. I'll be working my top 20 *can only work 20 hours a week except on holidays mind you* anyways that job is BS, its obvious. If you got the system rolling theyd boot you out and just keep the money most likely.

I took a job last year around Christmas because I'd just left school after my injury and needed something to do to get me out of the house. I applied into Dunne Stores (think of it as an Irish equivalent of Walmart) and got a job there for the Christmas holidays. Since it was only work for about 5 weeks I wasn't put into the tax bracket so I was making somewhere along the lines of ?200 a week, not great but I could have done a lot worse. I actually have a job interview lined up for Monday, a 9/5 which should start refilling my very empty pocket lately.

Well, I'm the youngest person on my staff; I work at Barnes & Nobles' booksellers.

It's a totally sweet gig. I'm making $6.75 an hour, get 50% off of cafe food, and 30% off of books.

Right now I'm stuck in the cafe, but recent developements mean I might finally get moved to the book floor, which is where I really wanted to work from the beginning.

I'd kill to work at Barnes and Noble, 30% off books just seems like the sweetest deal on earth. I might be getting a job at Best Buy though and a discount at that store wouldn't be too bad either.

Anyway, a couple of months ago I worked at Cold Stone Creamery. I quit within two weeks because the manager couldn't get my name right and singing for people just isn't my deal. It feels like a totally degrading job to me just because you CONSTANTLY have to kiss people's ***. I just couldn't take it.

I made $8,000 in four months working part time one summer selling those knives (Cutco), heh. I would have kept on doing it too except when I went off to college I lost my lead base. Once you don't have anyone who will buy knives it is hard to sell them.

On a side note, I have more professional grade cutlery than I will ever know what to do with.

It's been hard for me to find a job because of the age 16 barrier. I had a job at a car wash over te summer and made about $150 a week working 6 hours a day 4 days a week. But I had to quit becase it is now getting cold and I don't want to work at a car wash no more. Way too much work. I just filled out a application at Subway today and i hope they get in touch with me.
