Funky Shan-Gri-La

It's been a while since I tried doing Abstract Expressionism in Photoshop, but I'm trying my hand at it once more. I created an image using the color orange, a pretty neutral color, giving off a weird, yet comfortable feeling. In this image I used many abstract designs but with small use of the smudge tool, made them kind of edgy, but in a smooth way. I was trying to put the viewer in a psychadelic mood, and hopefully I've completed my task in a successful way. I got a few comments, mostly stating that I needed a focal point, and I was weary of submitting the image in the first place because of the same reason. But with some tweaking and adding a little more contrast, I think I've created much more movement and rhythm in the image. Please share your thoughts.

Heh...thought I might start it out the same way as on your deviant comment. ^__~

If I read correctly, you changed this a bit. I like it now. When I look at it, the very first thing I see is those foggy lines of yellow. Gorgeous yellow, by the way. But those lines just beg your eyes to follow them, and by the end of the first line, you notice this shocking contrast to everything else in the center. The darker orange portion would have to be my favorite. The colors are wonderful on the eyes, and just shout out at you how neat they are. The actual design that the darker colors make is slightly tech-ey, but perplexing as to what they are as well. I think the text is where the whole "funky" part comes in. It is just so out there, but at the same time so fitting.

I feel the need to reiterate my love of the colors. You have made this girl very happy by using oranges. Orange is generally this vivid, eye catching color that a lot of people tend not to use. But you have toned the orange down, but in places you have still incorporated that vivid, lovely orange that I love.

Really the only thing I don't like is the shape towards the very bottom of the piece, that flower looking thing. With its circley nature it seems out of place in this piece of lines and free form. Maybe it is just me. *shrugs*

Once again, I love it so! ^__^

Kinetic is back o_O

Hurray :p

Anyway, this piece is nice, and the colour scheme idyllic. However, I wish you'd continued the techy theme prevalent in the centre, throughout the whole piece. The centre is a rush of fire, it is stimulating and exciting. But, the rest of it feels vague and un-oriented. It doesn't mesh well. The centre brings warmth and vibrancy to the piece, but the rest of it just meanders off...you really needed to keep up the pace in this piece- spread it throughout the whole image, not just one point.

As for the font....well, zip it and attatch it for me, please. It's legendary.

The power of the Kinetic lives!

I was listening to music on the old WMP last night and saw the most awesome pattern of yellow/orange. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to capture it and didn't get a second chance.
What you've created is what I'd considered an awesome imitation of that (unbeknonwnst to you) and so it makes me even happier to look at ^_^

The colors are gorgeous and somehow I get the image of gods battling it out against each other *tilts head* Not in a violent or playful way, but more as a pose-ish kind of way. As if they knew an artist was lurking in the shadows, capturing their movements, and decided to flex a little extra. lol

And the font.... hehe. A little bit of Asia and a little bit of Stargate. To my eyes anyway >> Cool stuff.
