DW, you created this thread after my introduction thread in the Newbie Lounge was closed for being off topic. You'd think they'd let us go off topic in a forum where posts didn't count...

Your thread was then merged with mine, which added the poll. Most interesting of all, I have over three hundred posts on this thread. So don't you ever delete it...

Episode III Movie Poster? Since when? Why wasn't I informed?

Really, I haven't even gotten a confirmation of the movie's title, let alone a poster.

I just checked StarWars.com and The Force.net, neither had a movie title or poster for Episode III. Then again, both sites aren't that easy to navigate, so I may have missed it.

I'm too cheap to get a Hyperspace Pass for Episode III, which means I unfortunately miss out of a lot of cutting edge Star Wars knowledge. I would buy it, but it really will serve no purpose after Episode II is released.

Anyway, I'd really like to see your poster since I haven't seen it yet. The only one I've got is a fan made one I used for a RPG way back when.

Heh. No worries. If I deleted this, I'd harm myself because this is the frickin' biggest thread I've ever had.

As for a movie poster, I don't have one yet neither, but I already called dibs on the one at my local video store :) They're gonna give it to me when they're done. It'll be a long while since I have to wait for it to come out on video/DvD and then become old =/

And Boba, add me to your Star Wars fan club in your sig. >:o

*Breaks into the local Blockbuster and steals posters*

I haven't seen any posters yet, and it's very interesting that a movie rental place would get them before me...

I'll stop by Blockbuster and take a look around; perhaps they'll have one that they won?t miss.

So, out of curiosity, what's on the new poster? What pictures? Are there ARC troopers? Is the new movie title on there, if so what is it? Is there a release date?

Heh. Well, the thing about my local video store is it's junky. It's called Video Express and not a big name-brand company. It's nothing like blockbuster. But they just know they'll get the StarWars 3 poster so I told them to save it for me when they get it. Therefore, they haven't yet. I have no clue what it's gonna be like :<

My guess is it'll have Boba Fett, Luke, and Leia on it. And naturally, Anakin and his new wife ;)

Indeed.

There are a lot of really creative and interesting fan produced Episode III posters on The Force.net, some of which I have used for RPGs.

I'd been hoping to get some interesting Star Wars posters fro my room, but I haven't been able to locate any worthy ones yet.

So far I only have four small posters, two of the Yavin system and two others of obscure systems. I also have two rather large posters from Star Wars Gamer, one of which shows the galaxy. The other shows an obscure city on a rarely mentioned planet.

I really didn't like the Episode I or II posters, and really would like to find a "Revenge of the Jedi" poster, or an original Star Wars: A New Hope poster.

I heard about that?

I also checked it out this morning, just to make sure it was the site I remembered.

Yeah, that funky fat kid showing off his lightsaber prowess. First of all, he has the style completely wrong. Although there is no official Star Wars name for the style used with a double bladed lightsaber, it would probably be a cross between the saber style of fencing and polearm combat. The kid in the videos clearly has a fluid form and moves fairly smoothly; but doesn?t have any discernable blocks or attack follow through techniques. Much less disarming or incapacitating moves. Or at least that he?s displayed on tape?

In any case, I?ll stick with my fixed up broom handle. My friends at my old school and I used to duel with painted and slightly carved broom handles. We used the limited forms shown and described in my Episode I Visual Dictionary to attempt to re-create lightsaber combat. It took a long time for us to get close to decent, but it was fun. I?m a much better fencer than I am lightsaber duelist?

In any case I think that those Star Wars Kid videos, while mildly entertaining, are not true to the canon of Star Wars. Anything outside the canon, I simply can?t accept.

As for the fiasco that the site experienced, apparently someone put up some rather unflattering video footage of that kid. Yet another risk of putting yourself out there online. Not good, in any case?

Well, if you know the whole story to it, he never did put himself out onto the web. Though, it's partially his fault all along. Ya see, he borrowed a school camera and while STILL in school, video taped his little light saber show using a golfball retriever. He then left the tape in the camera by accident and gave it back.

Some friends of his found the tape and put it on Kazaa. Then some guys downloaded it and decided to make it look Star Wars authentic by making his golfball retriever a lightsaber and put in sounds and such (the original Star Wars Kid). Soon, it became a big deal and within a week of it, over 70 replicas of the Stars Wars Kid was made from a Braveheart version to the Terminator. Crazy, wot wot!

The weird thing about it is the kid in the video (a 16-year old Canadian boy) was very mad about this and sued the SCHOOL and won! The school didn't do a damn thing and he sued them. He was the one who left the tape in the camera and it was his friends who put it on the web. The school just supplied the camera. How he won and got money, I don't know.

He's still pissed and complaining about it even if the people all over the web were trying to get him a part in the upcoming movie and have been getting him loads of Star Wars gifts. I'd dance in my popularity if I was him. A chance to be famous is too good to pass up (especially since I want to be an actor).

Moral of this story: Don?t leave video of yourself pretending to be a Jedi lying around?

Ok, I figured it was about time for this:

Episode III Update

-Filming of Episode III has ended

-The actor?s are still filming the ?behind the scenes? and documentary footage for the DVD.

-Work on the computer animation and CGI for the film is now underway at Skywalker Ranch

-Almost all of the verifiable information pertaining to Episode III is in the Hyperspace section of www.starwars.com, much to my annoyance. George Lucas really needs to stop abusing us loyal fans like this. He already has enough money?

-Rumors about Episode III are all over the place. Everything from Anakin bringing someone back to life to Han or Lando making an appearance. There are major problems there, as the timeline is rather skewed. The books in the Expanded Universe have Han being born in the era of the Empire, which means that Luke and Leia would have to be born after the demise of the Old Republic. Unless the prequels simply skip to the early Empire, there is no way any of the original trilogy humans could make an appearance.

I?ll leave you with this picture and quote from the www.starwars.com caption contest.

I certainly hope that he doesn't bring anybody back to life. As no other Jedi since has been able to do that, it'd break with previously established precedent.

Then again, George Lucas has taken a rather annoyingly bossy attitude towards the prequels. It seems he doesn?t care what book deals he signed off on; he wants to do these movies his way. He seems to care less about the Expanded Universe, even though it's earned him far more than his movies have. The Death Star in Episode II was evidence of that, and I hope that he'll stick closer to the canon this time around.

We'll see.

In any case, this movie needs to be brilliant. It'll be the movie that the average person remembers Star Wars by, and that impression should be one of awe. After all the more people interested in Star Wars, the better it'll become.

Well, naturally, since it's the newest one, it may also grab a new audience of people (mostly younger) who weren't aware of Star Wars until a new movie was released to show them the Star Wars Universe.

And hopefully they do bring out episodes 7-9 because I was crushed to finally have LOTR end. I'm still aching because I loved it so much that I just wished it'd go on forever and keep feeding me it's fantastic tales. I want George Lucas to feed the Star Wars hunger of all us fans :)

Although George Lucas and LucasFilm in general have repeatedly refuted any idea of films set after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, there's a great demand for them to be filmed after the prequels wind down.

However, as I've previously discussed with both BabyGirl and Sara, I'd love to see those movies. Since the immediate timeline is rather booked, they'd either have to move on about five years from ROTJ, or use an existing storyline.

I've advocated making the Thrawn trilogy into Episodes 7-9, as they contain all the classic elements of the prequels and the origional trilogy.

I'd really love to see mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher back together making Star Wars movies...

Unfortunately, Ford's price will have gone way up. Then again, he owes George Lucas his career. Without his roles as Han Solo and Indiana Jones, he'd never have achieved stardom.

However, in the end I think it's wishful thinking...

Anyway i think that if they have movies7-9 mara WILL be included. She is instrumental in the demise of thrawn and is now married to luke(21 years after return of the jedi)
although she does seem like a loser to me.........
Ah. He named his son after good ole Obi Wan, eh? Mer :)

Oh, and I found this dude saying stuff about Star Wars and how it's a bad influence on kids. Something about how the good guy (Anakin, I suppose) becomes evil and it's teaching children that good can become criminals. Just some dude who's goofy. Also, I took the liberty and made this thread a special banner. Like? :)

That's a very interesting web site. It appears that no matter what people write these days, there's always going to be someone who claims it's terrible.

After what happened with the ultra Christian right wing and their rabid hatred of Harry Potter, it was only a matter of time until someone decided that Star Wars was something to be hidden from children.

I really don't care for the Rebellion that much, and would much rather serve the Empire. The Empire, although it discriminates against women and non-humans, is a force of order and law within the galaxy. If you want the full pro-Imperial story, check out that essay I posted a while back. In any case, this is essentially is a battle of Good vs. Evil. Doesn't really matter who you identify evil with; it's still the same basic idea as Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.

I just don't see how a story that emphasizes the triumph of Good over Evil can be seen as a bad thing by anyone, regardless of their religious views.

I like that banner Dragon Warrior, although it'd be nice if the bottom line of text were uniform in size. Also, it's a bit visually overwhelming. You might want to experiment with having "Star Wars" written in solid yellow. Just a thought...

Meh. Whichever... all I know is it took a damn long time and if my computer crashed before I saved it, I'd die XD

As for these maniacs who believe it's all pure evil, I still think they're silly. It's a simple storyline. Sure, children could take it seriously, but most of the smaller ones wouldn't understand the wild concepts and politics involved within Star Wars. I know I didn't when I was a wee one.

As such, if it effects anyone, it effects older teens like you and I, as well as adults. Adults may not take it as seriously, but they understand it more and for some reason, some adults take it too seriously and believe it rots the minds of their kids and turns then to the dark side, so to speak.

Yup, Star Wars is terrible for young minds. I mean, do you want your child to grow up and become evil? Star Wars is a sure way to get your child to become the next Hitler. I mean, look at the example it sets. It's racist, and there aren't enough black people in the movie. That whole good versus evil thing is terrible for children.

If you continue with that line of thought, isn't the bible bad for your children? I mean, look at Revelations. It's full of terrible events and catastrophic disasters. The whole bible is about good and evil. Just like Star Wars...

There really isn't a good case for the damnation of Star Wars. It's simply not a bad thing, no matter what people have to say.

In any case, that's enough of that.

Besides, I like the Dark Side. Join us!

Bet that made those parents feel better...

By the way, who here has watched the Star Wars Fan Film Awards on www.atomfilms.com?

I've seen a few of those flicks. One of my favorites was "Clerks" where the two stormtroopers worked in that DeathStop shop in one of the DeathStars and one of them got fired or something. It was hilarious, but it needed a sequel because it ended with a "To be Continued" :<

I also liked the Star Wars Gangsta Rap which can be found at Shockwave.com. I know all the words to it and it is great XD Best dang things I've seen in ages. I've probably watched others, but it's been a while so I can't recall.

EDIT: I just watched that Dark Side Switch Campaign. Freakin' funny XD "I had to get my arm cut off, which sucked!" Good stuff :)

Random Topic: The EH

The Emperor?s Hammer Fan Club is the largest Star Wars fan club currently in existence. It?s made up of fans that like the Empire, and divided into many sub-sections.

I?m a member of the Bounty Hunters Guild, the largest sub-section of the EH. The BHG is further divided into sub-sections, called Kabals and Cadres.

It?s not very labor intensive, all I do is check in once or twice a week and participate in Star Wars trivia events. I?ll occasionally attend an IRC meeting, which is always held between 0900 and 1200 hours on Saturday. We don?t really talk Star Wars that much, just random things that come to mind. It?s a lot of fun, and you meet people who share similar interests.

Anyway, here are a few useful links if you?re interested.
