Ouiji board anyone?

Hi, i know its a little after all the spirits and stuff of halloween, but i was wondering what people had to say about Ouija boards. I was messing around with mine today with my sister and some other people, and it started to do something, but we had to end it quickly because people had to go home.

How exactly do you use a Ouija board correctly so it works?

Does anyone have any creepy or spooky Ouija board stories?

I'm really in the Ouija board mood right now, so post your hearts out!

Thanks to my walking in during my younger sister's educational YTV Halloween specials, I have learned much in the way of ouija boards, namely that they're a load of bull.

But I already knew that, and I'm sure you do, too.

In order to "use" a ouija board, you would hold a spade- or triangle-shaped cut-out with a hole in it over the center of the board, with your eyes closed, not moving, for a few minutes, and, eventually, the piece will "guide" your hand to the correct letters, numbers, or "yes" or "no". This is supposed to be some kind of message from the other side, but, really, it's quite simple.

If you don't move your body for a while--five minutes, say--you start to twitch. Since your hands would be twitching, they'd move to display various things within the little hole cut in the spade- or triangle-shaped cut-out. Since this is an involuntary action, people are liable to interpret it in strange, obscure ways.

So, no, there was never a dude named K3PFQYESNO, who was murdered by his wife, FYSDJKGH5JKD, in the KDHG8DGH0 room with the HGGEGC3DG.

I have no idea who came up with the silly idea, or why, of course, but that's how it works.

Interesting, most interesting.

Well I'm with Godel on this one, yes I've heard a few stories from people in regard to the "powers" of the Ouiji Board but mainly it sounds like a load of shite. Actually I'd like to thank Godel for providing scientific evidence of how the Ouiji Board works, who's name I have been spelling wrong for years. I remember a story one of the girls told inside about how a Ouiji Board foretold a fellows death by a car, he never used a car after that and one day years later as he came down the stairs he tripped on a dinky car and broke his neck. I have no faith in the "super-natural" and the occult, and as such I would regard that "story" with great cynicism.

I must say I've never heard of it being done with a card, but I have heard that when groups of people do it together, they normally use a glass and everyone puts a finger on it. Evemntually [if the spirits are listening :p] it moves.

I'd regard a lot of cases with cynicism, but I do think there is more than we're aware of 'out there'.

I mean I know ouiji boards can't be true, I've seen documentaries on tv and all of that. But sometimes it just seems so cool if it really would happen. So (if that stuff is real) this is what I heard: The ouiji board usually attracts bad spirits. So they say you should say a prayer (preferably from the bible). I've never tried the board because I heard the same thing you guys said (about the natural tendency to move yourself) but still, I still find my self curious.
I'd like to think the spirits of the dead or higher powers have something better to do than entertain a group of 13 year old girls at their slumber party. But maybe I'm just an idealist.
If you're one Manic then I expect we all are, though there will be those who would expect that the souls of the dearly departed get some kind of a kick out of continuing the interest in such super-natural silliness.

I haven't touched an Ouiji board since I was eleven years old. Back then I beleived in it, probably because I wanted to. I suppose it kept things interesting, plus I would always screw with my friends, making it move to spell their names and such...

I imagine there are other ways to communicate with the dead, such as seances(?) and what have you...and I do beleive that the Ouiji board was a credible way to channel the dead, but not since parker brothers got a hand in it.

Ah, yes, the Ouija Board.... I used to believe in those when I was what... eight? Yeah, that's about right. When I was younger, my siblings and I would always use that in various rooms. I would always think it was so cool when the "ghosts" would talk to us.
A few months later, I found out my sister was purposly moving it.

me and my friend were using it. every time we use it we get the same guy. hes my stalker -_-. we even talked to my grandpa. my mom knows i use it, she just wont let me use it in our house. Because my dad is philipino, and philipinos are supersticious(sp?) So, i have used it before but they can be scary at time. like this one guy we were talking to said he was goin to come kill us. we had candles and the light was turned out and it was storing and it was frekin scary. but i dont really mind useing it. i just take it really seriously. because you dont want to goof off with it. cause you dont know what will hapen :nono: and dont you just hate it when people say they dont move it and then you find out they really were?

I've never used a(n) Ouija board before, and I've seen one what, twice in my life?

I've always wanted to see one in action, and maybe try it myself. I just want to see if I could try to be completely still, and keep the cursor thing from moving at all. Oh well. They are a load of crap. Maybe tarot cards are a different case?

Ouija boards are both scary and hilarious. I agree with Angelus Necare - I'm sure a long time ago, Ouija boards were a good way to channel the dead, like a seance, but anybody who's using a parker brother's board (Come one, the logo is right on the box) needs a reality check.

My cousin told me she and her friends were going to hold a seance using a ouija board in a suspected haunted house, one summer evening. I can't remember if they went or if her friends chickened out, but purposely looking for trouble with spirits (which I do believe in, thank you very much) by holding a frickin' seance, you must be really dumb.

That's just as bad as the time my other cousin (her brother) made me walk through a cemetary at night to get to a playground so we could play a version of manhunt. -_-; On the way back, he also ran though the cemetary, and eventually stopped when I started crying because I didn't know the way back. X_X;

Eh, but I guess that's a little off-topic. When I was little, like in elementary school, I used to play with a Ouija board (I think we threw ours away - OMG the "Ouija spirits" are coming to get meee! lol). None of my friends could ever sit still long enough to even get our hands to tremble. Besides, we always thought we were supposed to close our eyes - so no one could ever really see whatever it might have spelled. Whenever it did spell something, you could tell it was someone purposely pushing the little mover around.

Ouiji boards are such utter tripe. Why just the other day I consulted one and asked it when I was going to die. I closed my eyes and allowed the supernatural powers to guide my hands around the board.

You know what date it landed on? December 7, 2004! Hah! It is nearly eight pm and I still haven?t died y?..

i have always wanted to play the game to see what it is like, however ive never had the chance. My older cousins once told me a story about it though, they said that they played it and wierd things started happening, so they got rid of the game. They said they threw the game into a lake and when they came back to the car, it was in the backseat. They probably told me this story to scare me, which they did because i was only 7. I personally dont believe the board to be evil or possessed by spirits, but just a fun way to make people scared.

I used to play with Ouji boards a lot..the mass produced Parker Brother's kind. I played it with a friend I had down the street who would try to contact my great-pa and spell his name wrong so I knew she was jokiing.
However, I wasn't allowed to use it at my house too often because it freaked out my mom. That was back when I was between 7 and 10.

I'm taking a class in Wicca 1 right now and last week we were talking about different
ways to do divination such as runes, tarot and spirit boards. We got on the topic of Ouji boards...and now I know I'll probably get laughed at a bit for this, but my teacher said that they were usually controlled by low level spirits like say Hitler and maybe Stalin. So yeah you could mes with them, but remember that they're visting your world they're dead and it's not their world anymore. So if you do use one be careful.

I don't believe in the Ouiji board. I do believe in the supernatural and whatnot. Pretty much all the Ouiji board does is a person subconsciesouly has an answer to the question that is asked and the move it in that direction. It barely takes any force at all.

Anyways, if your friend believes in it, you can mess with them, it's very funny. I've done it before.

Friend: I'm gonna try and get touch with my dead uncle.
Me: you gotta ask a question first...
F: Okay...Uncle Fred...are you out there??
*we do the Ouiji thing, i move the thing towards "yes", he starts freaking out*

It's sooooo funny! You guys should try it. Oh, and sorry if you believe in it....i might be wrong, you can believe what you want.

Later.
