homeskillet
dbz is hands down the best cartoon ever made. Akira Toriyama is the man. BTW, yall know where he came up with the name kamehameha? It was an actual king named king kamehameha that I believe was the king of what is known now as Hawaii.

[/B][/QUOTE] Actually, yes there was a king of Hawaii names that but thats not where he got the name from.... He actually asked his wife what a name of the attack should be.... she thought up Kame-hame-ha off the top of her head... she might have gotten it from that king, however I doubt it. homeskillet
I have read alot of info on akira and almost everything I read said that is where he got it from. Not sure if she was thinking about the name of that king when she thought it up or it may be just purely coincidence.

Guest steve
 i myself have been watching for a little towards 11 years now and dragonballz/gt is pretty much the greatest cartoon concept ever and it`s a shame that they don`t keep it going but the hollywood movie will have to do for now..
coolkam007
i love it ^_^ heh.. anyways i've been watching for about.. a year.. maybe a bit longer.. blea.. i'm not good with remembering that kind of stuff.. anyways .. its probably one of the better *cough hack* animes ever made.. perhaps not THE BEST but its up there ;) i was kinda bored so i did a little reasearch.. dbz isn't really a 'cartoon', i took the time to look that misused word up.. car·toon (kär-tn) n. 1. a) A drawing depicting a humorous situation, often accompanied by a caption. b) A drawing representing current public figures or issues symbolically and often satirically: a political cartoon. 2. A preliminary sketch similar in size to the work, such as a fresco, that is to be copied from it. 3. An animated cartoon. 4. A comic strip. 5. A ridiculously oversimplified or stereotypical representation: criticized the actor's portrayal of Jefferson as a historically inaccurate cartoon. v. car·tooned, car·toon·ing, car·toons v. tr. To draw a humorous or satirical representation of; caricature. v. intr. To make humorous or satirical drawings. while dbz has SOME humorus parts, it isn't really humor based. i also looked up animation because i was curious.. and i found that dbz wasn't even an animation..if we where to say dbz was an animation, it would have to be a animated 'cartoon'.. which its not.. so i guess.. we can just say that its Anime or if you prefer 'Animated series' :)
Sephiroth
not once did I ever think that the db series was a cartoon, its anime, as I always have said, but some people here call it cartoon, morons....

amibasuki
I started watching it last April or May, back when I was an anime-hater (my younger sis had rented a really stupid anime video before that I forget the name of, and I thought all anime was like that). one of my guy buds was talkin' about DBZ and I was all 'NO! not you too!'. he told me to come here for some pics, so I came and looked. I started drawing some of the pics, but I still wouldn't watch it. then he finally convinced me to, and I got hooked. of course, I had to listen to 'I told you so!' for the next month or so, but it was worth it:D

Guest steve
:D you know i didn`t think people around here have to be so spacific in how they talk...for one cartoon animi , stick figures or whatever you wish to call it.... is only a label to stereotype...for one, dbz`s way of animation is e-z as hel..if u notice for most scene`s in dbz u would only have to draw one or two out lines of the charactor and run a loop of the image ,hence the way smoke or dust is done in the show...but i have never watched dragonball to begin with for their amasing inovation in art or animation..but only for the style , concept, story and the overall presintation of dragonball in it`s self...i love dragonball for everything that it is and that it isn`t...so for anyone to say something like " i hate when people do this or do that or say that and say this and act like that...to me that seems like there is no open mindedness left in people any more...i mean people should imbrace new idealizum and creative thought and not down thoughs that do. but that still remains my wish... i mean i said something good about dbz and this is what happens...i wonder if i said something bad about it what would happen???? anyways much love to the fans of the dragonball saga and much love to the new one`s that learn about dragonball every day.., take it ez everybody...

(unless somthing special happens to it.. like it swirls around and people apear in it.. ) but i can understand why they would use those tricks.. i mean.. would you honestly want to draw each frame? also take into consideration that they where trying to make money.. time is money and by using these time saver tricks they can save/make some money. if you ever watch the way the faces are drawn sometimes it looks way wrong.. ^^;; ohwell.. they dont have time to be redoing it over and over until it looks right.. :p but the still images they made look great if you ask me :) and steave.. ITS ANIME.. not a cartoon.. call it an anime or animated series.. btw the word anime is shorter and easier to type then cartoon.. so theres no need to whine ^_^
Guest steve
 whine? i guess you didn`t get what i said fully...that is uncalled for to say i`m whining....that would suggest that i`m a child that`s not getting ice cream before dinner or things are not going the way i want them to or when i want them to...i am not a child so don`t make me out to be one please...also i know the way they do dragonball in certain areas is done to spend less and make more that is clear as a spring day...if you have ever seen akira ,ninja scroll or vampire hunter D those are the classic`s that have the hard and detailed art in them but not everything is going to be the greatest...and the dargonball tv show doesn`t look as great as the movies are because that`s what the movies are made for to look better than the tv ones...anyways i`m just a fan of art it self...i mean i`m an artist myself,i`m going to the art institute of dallas right now to major in graphic design and also computer animation...so lets keep the :blackeye: and the gloves above the belt please...thanks ..and everyone take it ez...
coolkam007
oh my i think i had worded that wrong.. i was just implying that there shouldn't be a reason for you or anyone to complain or object to calling it anime instead of cartoon because it is shorter, easier to type, and its correct. :) btw i'm looking into going to the art instatute in Portland, Or. :) taking as many graphic designing classes as i can
