Anchorman & Afternoon Delight

Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy is getting released in late December--the 28th, I believe, which makes no sense considering if they released it a week earlier, it'd be in time for Christmas, and you know that movie would seriously fly off the shelves, but that's irrelevant--and I'm wondering what people thought of it.

I find that it's one of those movies you can't help but enjoy in some way or another. Whether it's the performances (Helloooo Brick!), random cameos (Tim Robbins...wtf?), the suits (yay!), or...the music. It was side-splittingly hilarious enough when they sang it in the movie, but apparently, they also filmed a 4-minute music video for it. For those of you who haven't had "the pleasure," I've included the link. Hopefully it'll work; I have occasional trouble linking to Search pages.

I think Anchorman is a movie that shows how wonderful method acting can be. If you look at the film, and look at the extra material released later, these actors are incredibly "into" their characters. From music videos, to rumored being able to improvise an entire second film ("Wake Up, Ron Burgundy"), Anchorman becomes a very excellent example of what total character immersion can do.

But what does everyone else think about Anchorman? Afternoon Delight? The character immersion?

My little sister and I went to see this movie about a week after it came out in theaters. We went in, mildly ammuzed with what we thought it was going to be about... and when we left, even though we weren't right about somethings, we couldn't help but laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

I personally feel that Will Ferral is a great actor, and an even greater comic. Even though many people thought the movie was just so........silly, it is just the stupid humor that gets us. The whole newscastors gang war, the irrelovent musical moments, the slapstick lines... the were all hillarious *sp*. It is.. nearly one of my favorite movies of the year.

PS. Weirdly enough, I saw the video for Afternoon Delight before I saw the movie. I still remember part of it.... Oh great, now its stuck in my head.

PPS. Thanks for the link, it is a good refresher on the tune.

I thought Anchorman was going to be a pretty awful movie, untli I saw it.

It was, easily, one of the best movies I've seen, certainly the best Will Ferrel one (I've only seen Elf, though :p )

There was a certain randomness to key areas of the film, like the
fight scene between the rival anchors, for one, turning into the all-out brawl as it were. Made for great comedy, and a great "wtf? moment" at that.
I'm all for the character immersion too, it helps the characters become more beliveable, And I thought, as The movie started, that it was going to be a real true story, lol.
