Anyway, you probably got the trojan form an email, since attatchments aren't utilised in PM's, there'd be no place for a user to attach a virus to the message.

[size=1]OB has no ads, and no linkage to offsite pages in source. Also, HTML and other code is disabled in signatures. I'd say you've been remotely hacked, or were doing something else at the time. Alternately, your scanner might have been scanning your computer and picked it up at the time.[/size]

It is possible that you got one from a drive by DL. Trojans and other malware can cmoe in and be excuted via active X controls. Hqppened to me last wek, took a week to get rid of it.

do you have the name? maybe I can help.[/quote]

There has to be text or the board will not take a quote.

[color=#707875]I don't think that you got the virus from OB, that is very unlikely. lol

I can only recommend that you remove the virus and increase the security settings on your computer. You may also want to be careful as to what other sites you visit; it's possible that you were running something else at the same time which caused a problem, as has been suggested.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]It would be impossible for someone to give you a virus through a PM on OtakuBoards. Attachments and HTML are disabled, and though IMG tags are allowed, viruses can't be embedded in image files. So unless someone sent you a PM with a link (which you would've had to have clicked yourself) to a site that gave you a virus, it wouldn't be related to OB.[/color]

Hey thanks for all that. I did get it sorted and cleaned my computer....where they came from I really don't have a clue??????????????????....It was only OB I logged into....but oh well...although it is pretty funny..LOL, I'm still stumped on where it came from though...it proberly was my email..but I hadn't gone into it. I used AVG virus detector to get rid of it...very glad about that..although it took me most of the night...lol Oh well thanks for the replies and help!..please excuse the way I posted this thread...didn't mean for it to come out like that and sound confusing or what ever.

[SIZE=1]Interesting, most interesting.

Solo is indeed correct, a Trojan which finds it's way onto your computer may not activate instantly, instead it may lay dormant for a while before being activated by a specific command, thus as Solo pointed out comes the Trojan part. It was actually a Trojan activated by Window Media Player which brought down my PC a couple of month back, which has made me extra vigilant about knowing what programs are running. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=-3]Well, I had a MAJOR problem with Data Miners. Not so much Trojans, but it depends on where you have been. Anyways, I once had at least 25 different Data Miners on my PC. That, was where I drew the line. I have used Ad-aware to constantly scan my PC and rid it of any "Unauthorized" programs I had received. It does it's job well, catching alot of them. But it gets tiring running the thing on a weekly basis...[/SIZE]

[font=Comic Sans MS][size=2][color=gray]I recommend running Spybot Search and Destroy, it will rid your system of the majority of things your ad program will, but it also should immunizes the system of those Data-miners. I run this program about once a month, and rarely anything is found. If you are interested do a google search for Spybot.[/color][/size][/font]
