Wow. It's been several months since I posted on this board. Time to get the dust out of my ears and such. *squeek squeek* Constructive criticsm would be great.

I apologize in advance.

I find all three banners to be, quite honestly, painful on the eyes. The first one has the contrast up way too high or something, and as a result it looks like there is an explosion on the right. It is very much the opposite of the word "Fade."

The second banner makes a mistake coloring "blood" exactly the same way as the rest of the background. As a result all you see is "linez" and you actually have to stop and squint at the image to read "blood" in there. Is that what you were going for? I recommend making "blood" at least a tad lighter, or a brighter red like the bands in the middle of the banner.

The third banner is very affected by personal taste, more so than the others I think. I find it very erratic and yet bland at the same time... perhaps it is because I sense no *purpose* or end goal to it. What was your intent with the design? All I can tell from it is that you were in the mood for pink. Perhaps it is a simple as that indeed, but then if I'm not in the mood, I won't like it. I'm probably just not in the mood, heh. If it was a pastel green perhaps, haha.

Sorry. I do have peculiar tastes.

Quite alright. I don't hold it against you that you don't like my art. Tis your opinion. I amended the "Fade" to "Nova." Maybe that suits it better.

Anyway, I guess I'm back for more punishment here, with a new banner. How do you like it?

The change from Fade to Nova was a very good one. Now it's a sweet banner. Yeah, really it was the Fade that screwed it up, heh.

The new Sunburst banner is good, except for the font. I'm not sure an "archaic" looking newspaper heading font is the best thing there. I'd go with something a bit more edgy, a bit more hi-tech perhaps. It's a futuristic theme, after all...

I dunno. If you could recommend some fonts for me to use, I would gladly edit it, but the fact of the matter is, I'm a photoshop newb, therefore all my font choices are by mistake.

Any names of GOOD looking futuristic, techno font things would be great. Other than that, I'm sailing blind.

And I also think the Nova banner is better.

Strangely enough, "Nova" reminds me of Final Fantasy X. Perhaps because it's reminiscent of Tidus' sword. Love the colors, love the concept and I even love the border! One thing though: maybe you could sharpen the word "Nova"?

For "bloodlinez", I agree with Sciros: the red parts are too dark. I had to up my monitor's Brightness just to take a look at the said banner. Again, it's lovely stuff.

Invest on pixel fonts.

Thank you Freud! I really am a photoshop noob. I started using it about three weeks ago, so I'm still in the uber-n00ber classification. I read tutorials, get an understanding of how things were made, and combine the concepts along the way.

And I will try to sharpen the text on the word Nova. I was only going for a glowly feel though, so it might not look right. Any particular pixel fonts?

I can't think of any really killer ones off the top of my head, but you can always check out Deviant Art for fonts. That's where I got a number of my favorites. They have everything, from sci-fi show fonts to really neat originals. I strongly recommend a look, assuming Deviant Art still has a font gallery (I haven't checked for a year or more).
