I know that they are old games But I like them. I never saw a thread on them bofore so I started one. The first one, the Silver star was way good it was kindof hard just because it had sega Genesis graphics, but the characters and story line were definately unforgetable. then came Eternal blue which happens like a thousnd years after the first this one was ok but not as good as the original. When sony came out with th PlayStation thay had remakes of both made and although thy fallowd the same plot and had the same characters thy were realy different from the original 2.
Whats your fav does any one know what i'm talking about?

The Lunar series is one of my favorites.

Personally, I thought Eternal Blue was better than Silver Star. The characters were more interesting, especially Jean (my favorite character in EB). And Ruby was certainly a lot more funny than Nall. Lemina was certainly a character that you kinda don't see very often, which is a girl that can't help but think of money more than half of the time and tends to add some type of prefix like "mega" to a word. All in all the characters were what kept me attached to the game.

I can't really say much about the story considering how I played the sequel before I played the first one. So I can't really totally compare the two, since when I played the first one, I pretty much already knew what was going to happen. But in my opinion, I thought the love story was better in EB. SS's love story was heartwarming, but EB's was a good one with
Hiro leaving his home world just to be Lucia and help her restore Blue Star (that was the name, right? Sorry it's been a while).
The gameplay was fun. It made you had to strategize really well in order to pull off in battles. And some boss battles were cool. I dunno if it was just me, but I thought battles in Silver Star were harder.

I wonder if Lunar 3 is still being made. I heard some info on it a long time ago and haven't heard anything since.

I only played and own the second one Eternal Blue and it was really hard. Once I got into the castle (you know where he sees the light) and got to the top floor I quit lol its actually a really hard game for being so old. You noticed as games get older they get easier? Games back in the day were so hard, its good for me that there easy cause i suck, but geesh it was hard for me. I read up on the story since I couldnt really finish it. I liked Hiro and the guy with the horn in his head. Thought he was cool, reminds me of Kimahri except without speaking in third person (Kimahri loves Yuna. Kimahri love Sushi) Lucia is also especially pretty. I wish I could talk more about the story, but i dont know much about it :( if someone could fill me in more that would be great. I've always wanted to know what happens ^^

Lunar games are only difficult if you don't spend enough time leveling up, really. In Eternal Blue, the opening castle can be a complete and total ***** if you just run through it. RPGs back then relied on that stuff a lot more.

I really enjoy the games, although I recently sold them. I had both of the Playstation collector's editions that Working Designs localized. Certainly took them long enough and I'm not fond of their voice overs or some of the changes, but I'm glad it came out at all.

I agree with the general idea that Eternal Blue is better. It's just more interesting, well-paced and better developed in really every aspect. I enjoyed it far more than the original (which I feel has a really slow opening), but both games really are excellent.

Makes me want to get that dumbed down GBA port lol.

While the original poster of this thread may not be around I know that the rest of you are. And on some level I want to kick myself for never commenting on this game. I have both games, though the second disk to my Silver Star copy was stolen so I?ve never gotten to finish it. But Lunar 2 Eternal Blue is one of my absolute favorite games of all times, well other than Zelda that is. ^_^

I love the characters and even though it?s done in an older style I love the game play as well. It does require taking the time to level up but it?s well worth it to make the story progress. It?s great how there is well over an hour?s worth of anime cut scenes woven into the story as it keeps it from being a never ending run of battles.

It?s also fun to run around in each and every town taking to the NPC characters as you?ll run into all sorts of funny stuff. The same goes for trying to read books on the shelves. I love how they took the time to make exploring the town and talking to people a fun part of the game.
I only played and own the second one Eternal Blue and it was really hard. Using your techniques or spells is a must, otherwise you just get clobbered on a regular basis.

Ah yes, the guy with the horn, Leo. He?s such a fun character though like you said he doesn?t speak in the third person mode. It?s a spoiler but later on in the game Leo
ends up in your party when you go after the main boss of the game.
As for a brief description of the story, well basically an ancient evil
Zophar
has been
awakened
and Lucia has come to
meet with the goddess Althena to stop him.
But before she can do that
Zophar attacks her and strips her of her power and curses her.
So you spend the whole game helping
Lucia on her quest to meet with Althena in order to destroy Zophar.
Another fun aspect of the game is that once you?ve beaten it, there is another storyline to complete so you get to start playing it again from the prospective of after things have been settled so to speak. It's worth finishing this quest just to unlock more of the anime cut scenes. ^_^

Well I?ve been playing Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and it?s amazing how an older game is turning out to be one of my favorites out of everything I?ve played. It?s a relatively straightforward or rather simple story of an idealistic youth named Alex who?s sole dream is to one day become the next Dragonmaster who is the guardian of the Goddess Althena. Without giving away too much the basic story revolves around Alex being required to work to become the next Dragonmaster in order to stop the evil that is threatening their world and his foster sister Luna.

Now what makes this game fun is the characters and all the fun interactions between them. Alex, the main character if the game is the honest, straightforward typical hero. He?s accompanied by Nall who looks like a white cat with wings and Nall is certainly one of my favorites out of the entire game with his snarky attitude. There are more of course, but those two are my favorites in the game.

Overall it has well-developed characters, a solid storyline, excellent anime cut scenes along with good dialogue and voice acting, even for the NPC?s. It has an older 2D style of graphics of course but it just doesn?t seem to matter since the rest of it is so well put together. As soon as I finish this I?ll be playing the sequel Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete.
