DBZgirl88
Simple question here: What are your hobbies and interests, and what is it about your hobbies that appeals the most to you? As for me, one of my favorite hobbies is origami. I think it's a very beautiful and creative art. I'm also a sciencey (is that even a word?) kind of person, so any origami that takes on complex geometric shapes really appeals to me. I especially like folding hyperbolic parabolas. Isn't it cool? I also used to love putting 5 of these together and it makes a really neat 3D star. I've also gotten into other types of modular origami, where you put many smaller units together to make a really cool geometric shape. I love it! But I don't just love origami, I love all kinds of paper crafts, especially the kind that gives you demension and texture. Popups are always fun. :) Another one of my hobbies playing the violin. I love classical musical. Well, actually Baroque to be more precise. For example: http://a.1asphost.com/lauriermusic/music/VivaldiDoubleCelloConcertoinGminorAllegro.wma Now that's cool. :)
Queen Asuka
I feel like I just don't have time for my old hobbies anymore. Now that I work all the time and am a full-time college student, I realize that I don't have time for anything anymore (except wasting time, lol, if that's a hobby). I used to be on the dance team when I was in high school. It was something that I loved so very much. It took up all my time, but it was so worth it. Not only did I learn a lot about teamwork and sisterhood, but I also became a wonderful and beautiful dancer. I know that the dancer spirit is still in me and that I'm going to recapture it one day, but right now it's being repressed. Bleh. I also used to spend a lot of time drawing. Sure, I do alot of stupid sketches and stuff now, but I used to be SERIOUS about drawing. Just like I used to be serious about anime. I used to spend every penny I had on anime and would watch it constantly. Now, I can't even remember the last time that I bought something anime related...that doesn't mean I don't love anime anymore, I just can't afford it/don't have time for it. I HAVE been playing Ragnarok Online like there's no tomorrow. Videogames used to be a hobby of mine, as well. I have my XBox and I have Knights of the Old Republic, but I haven't even played it yet. That's part of my Christmas Break quest...to play some damn videogames. ^_^; Yeah, I HAD hobbies. I miss them.. ;_; I have been reading a lot lately, which is another thing I enjoy a lot. ^_^
Shwa
I guess I've had a lot of hobbie when I was young, but looking back at them I can't believe i did it, lol. When Pokemon came out I was on a mission to collect every single card I could find, I was really interested in the shinny colors and the different backrounds for the monters. But that hobby didn't last long since they raised a lot of prices for the box sets and stuff (My parents weren't going to pay for something I would throw away later...and they were right about that). Another hobby of mine was roller blading, not only was it a faster way of getting me to important places but also it was fun to do small jumps off ramps and stuff. I was channel surfing one day and saw one of those extreme games with bikes and skate boards, but I really loved the roller blade exibitions. All those people doing backflips and spins was amazing. I kind of lost interested in that hobby because my roller blades got broken, now that I have a job i keep telling myself to get a new pair but I always forget. Now.... I'm really stuck into Dance Dance Revolution, that game rocks. I just love being able to learn different ways to dance on the dance pad and the different song varieties are to die for. I dont think I'll ever get rid of this hoby, my friends are into it as well and since I work in an arcade that has a DDR machine i can socialize witht eh other DDR players and get pointers on how to play better each day. James
I suppose that you are looking at one of my hobbies right now. OtakuBoards is really a hobby of sorts, I guess. Working on new updates and things like that is always pretty rewarding. I suppose that my biggest hobby would be graphic design, at least, digital graphic design. I really enjoy it and I really enjoy being able to just make anything - to just be creative and not worry about restrictions. But at the same time, I also enjoy designing things for a purpose. Making web designs is a lot of fun, particularly when I see them being put into practice. Writing (in terms of journalism) is also a hobby of sorts, and luckily it's also a paying hobby. If you can turn your hobby into a job, then that's always a very rewarding experience.
sinna
I don't do many things. (compared to other people I know). My hobbies include playing Magic: The Gathering. I've always been fanatical about cards. Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, regular playing cards. The only cards I don't like are sports cards (I see no point in them). I also play Dungeons and Dragons. It's just a good way to vent anger, agression, and the like. Or at least thats what some people think. I also read a lot. I'll read anything I can get my hands on! :D Now I've been playing a lot more video games (just got an xbox), and thats taking up most of my out of school life. Xander Harris
Well, one of my main hobbies is RPG games. Not the kind on message boards (although those are fun too, when I have the time and energy to do them properly), but the tabletop kind. I enjoy reading a lot about the industry and Gming games. I also enjoy writing about everything under the sun. I like video games of many varieties, although I usually get my butt kicked when it comes to realtime strategy games... I collect and read a lot of comic books, and enjoy good novels and nonfiction books when I have the time, as well as watching movies. I also just enjoy talking about life and theology and philosophy with people and batting around ideas. And singing. Typically in unorthodox venues. And making people laugh. Retribution
I enjoy tinkering with photoshop, photography... alot of artistic things. Writing floats my boat too. I used to play Warhammer 40k... but nobody in my area does anymore, so I stopped too. I also read manga, and manage my own website.
Sol-Blade
Well, I do have a few hobbies, some are just there to kill time. For one, I am a photographer and I usually take lots of pictures of the world around me, here in Vegas. I usually do freelance work, but I've been hired once or twice to take photos. Ahem, I am getting off topic, but yes I take my camera everywhere and I take alot of pictures. Another thing I do is a I love to sketch little fanart of my favorite shows (Hence, the reason I ever began to like anime in the first place).I'll probably never host my work online though, I really only do it for personal gain. And to show off to my friends and impress my girlfriend! :D I also love to mix music. Nothing else brings me joy, than to rip apart several songs and string them together to make one really, really harmonic track. Lastly, for those of you who don't know yet, I am a collector of anime OST's. I have countless, numerous soundtracks to many shows. There is something about very intriguing about a show's music selection that just draws me in so much. It's one of the main reasons I ever continue to watch a series. Plainly put, I. Love. Music. So, yeah...animation, photography, and music!
Miryoku
I have quite a few hobbies but most of them are pretty boring by most peoples standards my big one is doing, watching, and listening to just about any thing japanese well and asian for that matter. i've watched anime all my life and just got into mangas this year. I've read a little fake, some Love Hina, and every Gravitation manga to date. I also like to cook. I can cook just about any kind of food. Mexican, European, american, Asian you name it. I'm hoping for a sushi set for christmas.I also like Interior design and fasion, i know those are weird for guys but i'm "different". I also draw but i'm not vary good at it. My biggest hobby is vary misunderstood by most people, I metel detect. Most people picture detectorists( thats what we call our selves) as weird junk collectors who are on a beach looking for treasure, but were not like that inf act most of us are not like that. The main point for doing it is to find items with a historical back ground, like old coins trade tokens(things used as mony at a particular business), military artifacts. the best places to look for this stuff is at old battle grounds, forts and just regular old houses that have been around for a hundred years or more. I also do regular stuff I go to the mall' shop' play vidio games( mostly DDR),and check out guys.

Oh how I admire you so... *sigh* Ah well. Being a DJ is one of those burnt out dreams. Just like being an astronaut.
Juu
Well, first off, I love singing. Not sure if I'm any good at it, but my best friend's mom offered me a record deal audition last year... which I turned down. But for some odd reason, I haven't been singing as much as I used to. I guess it has to do with the fact that I live in a San Francisco flat, and all the neighbours' windows are pretty much less than two feet away from ours. X_X; Arr. And I just started electric guitar lessons three months ago, so it's been a lot of fun erm, attempting to play and sing at the same time. So, just music overall. I love photography. *points to clickable banner* Especially since I just recently got a better camera. Until about two years ago, I've always wanted to become a photographer. So, during the time after I threw our first camera into a lake, we'd buy a disposable camera every week (and we've still got about twenty undeveloped ones left). Then we bought a really crap 2 megapixel fuji, and after my friend slammed that one on the concrete, we bought a 4 megapixel Canon S410. Well, it's an improvement. >>; I take it everywhere - as boring the place may seem, because the best photo oppertunities seem to turn up in the weirdest situations. Acting is also fun. Just goes hand-in-hand with performing on stage, basically (singing and whatnot). The feeling of being on stage is just exhilarating. Writing is fun, too. But rather blog-like than story-type. Writing stories is frustrating for me because I can never, ever bring one to an end. Starting stories are fun, but finishing... eh. Hmm. Oh, going out and about with close friends is also great, but 'close' being the key word. I tend to be rather standoffish with newish people most of the time, but otherwise, it's a blast. *thinks* Besides those, I guess I'd have to say traveling. Our family (dad, mom, me) is really big on travel, and we've moved to a new city/state/country/continent every three years maximum, and I don't think there's been a single year where we were in the same state, or three years in the same country. I love culture, and people-watching, basically. Can't really imagine being in the same place for a long period of time. =x Lastly, being lazy. Just curling up/sleeping whenever/flopping around/etc. Everybody loves that. ~.~;
Heaven's Cloud
My favorite hobby is commenting on my favorite hobbies on internet message board threads labeled "Hobbies Anyone", "What Are Your Hobbies", and "n00bs hobies #1 fan". I find it almost as rewarding as finger painting (oh! that is hobby number two). I would probably say that playing music is my favorite hobby, while reading is the hobby I most frequent. If I could get paid to read books that would be so awesome.

I wanted to hang them from my ceiling, but I never got around to it. Much like Tori, I feel like I just don't have time for hobbies anymore. I keep an eye out here, and try to post on myO with something approaching frequency, but that's all the time I have right now. I do write a lot of letters, but I'm very behind with those right now. Lunai
My hobbies are: Magic: The Gathering. I just recently started this one, since I only learned how to play mid-November. But I have a pretty cool deck. thanks to my boyfriend. He used to do tournaments. Reading. Right now I'm reading a book by CJ Cherryh, and another one by Stephenson; "A Lady's Illustarted Primer". It's by the same guy that wrote "Snow Crash", another favorite of mine. Photoshop. This one I just started this week. I created one greeting that's on TheOtaku. I'll get better, I'm sure. The internet is something of a hobby for me. Just because it seems like I'm constantly on it. MyO especially. Video Games. Currently playing Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events for GBA (& subsequently stuck 13% into it) and Chrono Chross for PSOne. Art. Watercolors & sketching. Guess that's it.

Personally, I don't care how simple something is to fold, so long as the simplicity doesn't make it boring. The paper cup for instance, who knew one could make something so functional, with only a few folds, not to mention the fact that the design has no corners from which to leak from? The frogs are cute too. :) As for paper cranes, I have this goal to fold 1000 of them, just like that Japanese girl Sadako did when she got leukemia. I loved it. Seriously, it was incredible. What was really neat too, was that my friend Dave (a computer science major) and myself (a linguistics person) both honestly enjoyed it. A lot. I skimmed over a lot of the more technical stuff, and he completely skipped the whole bit where they started talking about Babel, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was just so engaging, heh. Two people with completely different interests were thrilled with it. Plus, Hiro has the greatest name. Ever. foreverinfinity
I love drawing. I like making something that is not exactly the same as anything anyone has ever seen before. Even if you have to share everything else, you can keep things like drawings, writing, or songs you made to yourself if you want to. You don't have to tell anyone about it and you won't be forced to share it. I also love to play the guitar and sing. Listening to music is fun, but when you get to play it, not only is it fun but you feel great because you accomplised something that you can actually enjoy. It's not like getting a good grade in school where afterward you go, "okay, now what?" but you can then elaborate the song or do a more complicated version or play with other musicians to get a fuller, more exiting sound, as well as an even bigger accomplishment. Think about it, you can learn everything there is to know about math within twenty years, but it would take more than a lifetime to learn all the songs in the world in every version of every instrument known to people! There is no limit as to how far you could go with music. Wow that was a mouthful.
Xai
I love to draw. I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil and still do to this day. I'm not perfect at it, but I'd like to think I'm pretty good with all the practice I've had. ^^; Well I don't just like drawing, I like just about any type of art. Gaming is fun for me too. I'll play anything as long as it's fun, but console RPGs are my favorite. I'm not as big of an anime fan as I used to be, although I still like it, but I'm just not obsessed anymore. Sara
Something interesting: In past threads, I've always noticed a lot of people say that listening to music was one of their hobbies. I always thought that was kinda silly (although, to be honest, I didn't listen to much music. When I was in the car, usually, and occasionally in the afternoons I'd turn on the radio or CD player in the living room and dance around. Which is awesome fun, by the way.) Anyway, this past summer (as a graduation/college present) I got a little iBook, and I put all my favorite CDs onto it....and I have to say that these days, whenever I am in my room, I am listening to music. It's incredibly different from what I'm used to otherwise, but no matter what I'm doing--homework, chatting, drawing, writing, even sleeping--I've usually got music on, and I love it. Just made me think of that, I guess, Hehe. fo' rizzle, Sara
