OOC: I'm back. Sorry it took so long. It might be crappier than usual, I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things.

"Wow, our first tournament! Are you excited, Frost?"
Indeed I am, Max. A veritable parade of pugilism, and I am permitted take part! What a joyous occurence!
Max chuckled. "You're no fist-fighter, man. C'mon, let's go sign up."

--------

The woman at the desk welcomed Max to Japan's first MN tournament and instructed him to plug his MC into the terminal. Frost appeared in the digital field, hovering in mid-air as usual.
"So that's... Nietszche and... Frost. Wow, another one."
The small comment seemed out of place tacked on to the end of such a uniform speech. Max did not fail to notice. "Excuse me?"
The woman's face grew nervous. "I'm sorry?"
"You said, 'Wow, another one.' What did you mean?"
"I meant-" her eyes darted. "I meant it as in, 'Wow, another ice creature.'"
Max was sceptical at best.
"I keep track of them, you know." She seemed to regain confidence as she continued to weave her explanation. "It's such a repetitive job that I like to keep track of Plat-" Her eyes widened more than Max thought physically possible as she cut herself off. She slumped to the desk.
"Well, thank you for registering me."
From her face's position on the desk, her mumbled, resigned, monotone reply was barely audible. "Your first opponents will be Hatoun and Hive you may fight them as soon as you find them."
"Right," said Max, as he began to walk off. He stopped himself, however, and walked back to the desk. He tapped the woman on her shoulder. She looked up at him.
"Sorry," he whispered. She nodded. "Shouldn't you see about the line?"

--------

"It's nice of them to equip the MC with a GPS. Now we can find Hatoun easily."
I await his discovery with great earnest.

They found Hatoun enjoying the shade provided by a stand of trees. A large hornet was buzzing amongst the lower branches, but he didn't seem to notice.

"Excuse me," called Max. "Are you Hatoun?"
The teen, who looked to be about 17, sat up and regarded Max. "I am." He had a friendly face, with open, trusting, hazel eyes. A small pair of glasses perched delicately on the tip of his nose. His hair was dark brown and curly in a large mass at the top of his head, and he had a small goatee on his chin.
"I'm Nietszche, and this is Frost," He gestured at Frost, hovering over his shoulder.
Pleased to be of acquaintance, Frost said audibly.
"But you can call me Max. We've been assigned to battle in the tournament."
"That's cool, man. You can call me Hiro. This is Hive." The large hornet strayed from its circuitous route around the trees to buzz around Hiro's head. "Your Monster talks? That's crazy, man. I wish mine did. I think someone posted something like that on one of my gaming forums."
"Yea, that was me."
"No way, man! That's pretty crazy. So, we gonna battle?"
"Yea. Let's go!"

OOC: I was a bit surprised when I saw this back up. Lol.

Sakura looked around the park at the many people.
? How am I going to find this guy?? she muttered. Zephyr suddenly appeared out of the MC in a flash of white light.
? I think that?s him over there!? the little sphinx said, bounding away.
? Wait for me Zephyr!? Sakura shouted as she ran after the sphinx.

A few minutes later, Zephyr stopped at the playground near the tournament. An older boy sat swinging on a swing with a sand-coloured snake sliding in and out of the hot sand around him. Sakura walked up to the boy, smiling.
? Are you SandSlider?? she asked kindly.
The boy looked up. He had green eyes and brown hair, earthy looks. His Monster matched him perfectly.
? You?re Storm right?? he asked.
? Yup. Shall we battle??
He stood up, ? Sure.?

Facing each other with their Monsters between them and their screens in front of their faces, Storm and SandSlider started.

Sakura scanned over SandSlider?s statistics. Her eyes stopped on the level of his Monster.
? Oh no! His Monster?s level is so much higher than Zephyr?s!?

? Slider, Fang Attack!? SandSlider commanded. The tan snake dived into the sand and circled Zephyr threateningly.
? Zephyr, watch it!? Sakura yelled. Slider, the snake, reared up behind Zephyr, poised to strike. He landed his strike on Zephyr?s side. Zephyr skidded over the ground hard, rolling over and over.
? ZEPHYR!?
? I?m okay,? came a little voice. Zephyr stood up wonkily. White fur lay scattered around him.
Sakura looked worried. She looked up at Zephyr?s health bar. Two thirds were left. Two more hits and it was all over.

? Zephyr, use Spark to paralyse Slider!? Sakura yelled out the attack. Small lightning bolts gathered around Zephyr as he charged for the snake. Suddenly, it disappeared underneath the sand again.
? Bugger!? Sakura exclaimed. Watching the sand, she saw the flicking of the snake?s tail as it moved.
? ZEPHYR! NEAR THE EDGE!?

Zephyr pounced on the snake. SandSlider smiled.
? Bad move!? he said, ? Slider! CRUSH ZEPHYR!?
The snake coiled around Zephyr and started to crush the little sphinx. Zephyr squeaked as the air was constricted out of him. Sakura watched Zephyr?s health bar slowly decline into the red.
? Oh Zephyr, I wish you were stronger!? she whispered, ? I wish I was stronger!?

At that very moment, Zephyr?s coat suddenly shone silver.
? What?s happening?? Sakura wondered.
? A Platinum Monster!? SandSlider exclaimed.

Zephyr?s body began to grow in size. His wings became larger. Soon, the silver shine faded and Zephyr had grown to the size of a tiger with his wings as big as an albatross?.
? Zephyr, what happened?? Sakura asked in amazement.
? I don?t know. I just felt empowered all of the sudden?? he said. His voice had grown deeper too. It was like he?d grown from a kid to a teenager. He looked much much stronger than before. The snake tried to squeeze Zephyr again but Zephyr just shook him off with ease.

Two beeps caught Sakura?s attention. They had originated from her screen. Two new attacks appeared on the list ? Lightning Ball and Lightning Strike.
? Ok Zephyr, let?s teach them not to mess with a Platinum Monster!? Sakura shouted excitedly. Zephyr stood ready. He swiped at the snake, nicking it by its tail and whipped it onto the grass.

? ZEPHYR! LIGHTNING STRIKE!?

An ominous dark cloud appeared in the sky as Zephyr?s eyes glowed a brilliant yellow. A single lightning strike streaked from the cloud to the ground, electrifying the snake under Zephyr?s paw. Sakura saw Slider?s health bar go to 5, then the match ended.

? Yes! Victory for us!? Sakura said, running up and hugging her new and improved Zephyr. He smiled.
? Yes, one for us!? he said, closing his wings about her in a hug. Soon after, Sakura shook hands with SandSlider and told him he put up a good fight.

? Well done to both of you!? said a voice from behind Sakura and Zephyr. They twirled around to see the woman in blue who was at the registration desk.
? Thanks?I guess?? Sakura said cautiously. The woman smiled.
? I?m Michelle. I?m an executive from the company that made Monster Network, G-Games Corporation,? the woman said, introducing herself, ? From the moment you registered, Storm, I knew you had a Platinum Monster. Now, would you care to talk with me for a while, while your friends finish their battles??

Hiro and Max faced off in the grove of trees.
"Let's do this, man! Go, Hive!"
Max's MC uploaded Hive's stats. Oh, snap! He's a way higher level than Frost!
"Be careful out there, Frost. He's a much higher level than you."
I shall exercise the utmost vigilance, Max.

Frost and Hive circled cagily, neither wanting to be the first to attack. Max gave in first, shouting, "Frost, Icicle!"
Frost fired several icicles, which Hive easily dodged. Hiro countered.
"Hive, Blitz!" Hive flew stinger-first towards Frost, rotating faster and faster.
"Look out, Frost!" Frost almost dodged, but Hive changed course at the last second, damaging Frost. Max, glancing at the health bars, saw Frost's gauge drop by one fourth. Three more of those and Frost is done. And that wasn't even a direct hit...
Hiro took advantage of Frost's momentary daze. "Blitz again, man!"
This time, with Frost still stunned, the Blitz caught him full-force. His health bar dropped to 25%. Frost fell to the ground.
We should have leveled up before this. Frost wasn't ready for this caliber of play yet. If only he was stronger. If only I was a better handler.
Suddenly, Frost began to glow. It was the same glow as the night of Oni's attack, but dimmer.
Hiro noticed this too. "No way, man! That's a Platinum Monster! You're so lucky, man! I should have guessed, what with him talking!"
As the glow subsided, two beeps sounded from the MC. Looking down, Max noticed the "Attacks" button was flashing. Opening the window, two new attacks were listed, "Avalanche" and "Glacier." Frost had changed as well, transforming from a small blue wisp to a waist-high snowman.
"Frost?"
Yes, Max?
"Let's show 'em what we can do! Glacier!"
Right away!
Frost pointed his hands palm-first at Hive. The ground behind him began to freeze as swirls of frost circled in, gathering in an icy barrier in front of his outstretched hands.
"Quick, dude! Blitz!" Hiro desperately instructed Hive. He barreled towards Frost, but the ice wall had completed its formation. Once launched, it proved an impassible barrier for Hive, freezing him in midair. Encased in a block of ice, Hive lost all upwards lift and crashed into the ground. Hive's health gauge plummeted to zero, and the battle was over.

--------

"Nice job, dude. That was amazing."
"Hey, don't congradulate me. It was all Frost here."
Hiro bent over to shake Frost's hand. "Nice job, little dude. Good luck in the future."
Why thank you. Hive was a worthy opponent.
Straightening up, he turned back to Max. "Maybe we can battle again some other time, dude. Next time I won't hold back!"
"Yeah, maybe. It was fun."
Hiro walked off. "See ya, man!"
"Yeah, later!"

He noticed someone clapping behind him. Turning, he saw the woman from the sign-up desk, the girl that had called the meeting, Sakura, and her monster, Zephyr, who had also evolved, it seemed.
"Bravo, Max, bravo. Congradulations on your Platinum Monster's first evolution."
"Great job, Max! I saw the fight!"
"Well, thanks," said Max. "But really, it was all Frost."
"Ah, yes, Frost," said the woman from the desk. "I knew all along he was a Platinum Monster."
"That, I could guess," said Max.
She coughed nervously. "In any event, my name is Michelle. Care to join us while your other comrades finish up?"

Rin had signed up earlier, and paid no mind to the woman acting oddly before her. She, plainly, didn't give a shit. Uindo, not bothering to notify her (knowing she would either ignore it or forget soon after), walked along beside her looking for his next opponent.

Lippi, Lippi, Lippi.. he seemed to chant. After a while of this, Rin stomped her foot in front of him. He wasn't paying attention, and ran straight into it. Oww! he shouted in exasperation. "Shut up. Stop chanting that damn name. I know who we're looking for, so you don't have to remind me.." she snapped.

Oh? Then why don't you tell me their names? The user and monster, then, hmm?!

"Fine. Whatever. The user's name is Lippi, but how could I not know that?" She said this with a sarcastic smile spreading across her face. "And the monster is named Guar."

Damn. You were listening, Uindo yawned, beginning to walk on. "Phht. Can't stand it when I show you that I'm not so stupid, huh?" she smirked, nudging him forward from behind with her foot. He glared at her for a moment, then continued walking on in a very prideful manner; as if to show the other monsters he was greater than them. Oddly, Rin would have to agree.

"Um... Kitty and Uindo?" a timid voice squeaked. The two turned to see a young girl (no older than 12) and her little armadillo-like monster at her ankles. "You're Lippi?" The girl nodded nervously. "Wait.. You're Lippi? I'm fighting you?" Uindo snapped at Rin's heels, making her jump a bit, then scold him for nagging her.

Don't be so rude! "Shut up, you," Rin warned him. He stuck his tongue out, but showed no more signs of protest.

"Well.. Shall we begin?" The smile on Rin's face was beginning to come back, her confidence intimidating the young girl before her.

--

As the two opponents stood across from each other, monsters in the middle, their MC's began to download the others' stats. Rin looked up as a little moan escaped the girl's mouth. Uindo was at the same level as Guar. But Rin ignored that; she concentrated on the attack stats comparison.

Uindo had much more strength, but less stamina and defense. Their speeds were similar as well. But how would Uindo fare against such high defense? "Only one way to find out," Rin whispered.

Standing up tall, preparing for battle, Rin called out to Uindo what she would usually chant to herself before a fight: "Whatever you do, don't make an ass out of yourself." He chuckled a bit. Alright. As long as it's to make you look good. If the situation were different, she might have protested and given him a piece of her mind. But now, she concentrated on actually playing the game.

"Guar! Iron Roll!" "Iron Roll..?" Rin whispered to herself after the command rang out. The armadillo curled up in his ball and began to roll around until it got used to the earth beneath it. Then it shot off like a cannon, due straight for Uindo. "Jump out of the way!"

Uindo bounced up into the air, hovering a bit with the help of his ankle wings. "Dive at it!" she shouted, the tone in her voice serious. Uindo fell from the sky, his sharp claws on his front legs held out to attack with.

When he came in contact with Guar, he seemed to just fall off. The impact did put the armadillo into a bit of a daze, but Uindo was in worse shape. "Come on! Get up!" Rin persisted. Lippa was jumping for joy at the sight; she thought she was winning. But Rin wasn't about to let her celebrate. "Shove it!" she shouted, now seeing Lippa as nothing other than an annoying brat in her way. An annoying brat she was going to get by, one way or the other.

"Uindo! Get up." Uindo struggled a bit, but pulled himself up, balancing with his tail. "Shock! Now!" Uindo's wings on his ankles began to brighten until there was the sound of sparks. As the sparking popping noises got louder, the light began to crinkle and jump from wing to wing until there was one line of electricity showing brightly at once; connected to each wing.

Uindo jumped towards Guar, but this time, was smart enough not to touch him with his own paw. But the wings brushed against his shell, sending the current through the opponent. As the armadillo spazzed around a bit, Lippa began pouting and shouting out to "Iron Roll" again.

"This'll be over in a matter of seconds.." Rin estimated. But, unfortunately, she spoke to soon. The shocking wore off and Guar came out with a bang. From the dusty hole he'd rolled into, he popped out rolling at high speeds straight at Uindo. "Jump!" But Rin was too late. The roll hit Uindo square in the belly, sending him flying into the nearest tree. "Uindo!" she shouted.

"Shit," she cursed under her breath. She started repeating it over and over as she watched Uindo struggle to roll onto his feet. "Damn it.. So close." But, at this point, Uindo began to shine.

"What the..?" Rin whispered. Lippa began "ahhhing" at the light. Rin ignored her, though; no point in listening to a kid drool over something. When the light subsided, Uindo wasn't the large dragon Rin had seen once before, but a smaller one. Still bigger than his normal one.

"Oooh.. That's a silver monster!" "It's Platinum!" Rin cried. She remembered what the boy who had attacked her called Uindo. "You're a Platinum monster. I get it now!" Rin was beginning to catch on.

-Beep-

She pulled her MC up to her face. "New attacks eh? Let's try this one..." She smiled her devilish little smile and looked up. "Uindo! Tornado!"

Uindo was about up to Rin's ribcage, and had large wings emerging from his back. And his tail grew about another five feet, giving it total of about ten. Uindo was fierce looking, but not as fierce as the large dragon he had once become. Rin was determined to bring that out again.

At her latest command, Uindo stood still, merely flapping his wings. Lippa began squealing nervously, calling out more commands for her monster, only confusing him horribly. As the beating of Uindo's wings got faster, the wind began taking shape into a cone shape. After the first one formed, it grew about twelve feet in height, scarring the tiny armadillo into his shell. But after the first, came three more. And after those three more, came another five more. More and more and more of these funnels of wind appeared, each one a bit smaller than the last, but damaging none the less.

Come out, come out, my little desert turtle, Uindo taunted. His voice was deeper to Rin. Not the same, young, child-like voice she was so used to. When he first spoke, she was confused as to what he was talking about. But then she realized that Guar had recoiled into his shell for sanctity like a turtle; except Guar was obviously an earth creature.

The dark winds picked up the little ball and threw it around in every direction, hitting trees, or sending it into other funnels of ferioucious silver winds. "Come on, come on.." Rin chanted, wanting Uindo to glow again. Suddenly, out of the clouds, Guar shot again like a cannon straight at the dragon. He seemed startled, but pulled his wings around to cover his head, and also seemed to summon some of the army of tornadoes before him, stopping the ball in its tracks, and repeling it in the other direction.

"Just a bit more.. Come on.. Change again, damnit!" she cried in frustration. He glanced at her. Are you disappointed in me? he asked her, not paying any attention to the monster flying around above him and the cries of protest from the little girl. "No. I'm not. I just wanted to see you..." See me what? "See you--"

"WE GIVE UP!" Lippa cried. Rin nodded, and the tornadoes disappeared in a small poof, as if they had never been there. But the surroundings showed much evidence of their being there. "Run home," Rin suggested to the tearing Lippa. "Sorry about that," she sighed, not really knowing what to say.

When the girl had left, Rin stared at Uindo, then bent down to look him eye-to-eye.

"Not much of a challenge, huh?" No. But that's alright. I did get to change, didn't I? "Yes. Yes you did.. And I'm beginning to understand this 'Platinum Monster' crap." Really? Oh. Rin? What did you mean by 'Change again'? "Um.. You don't remember that?"

Remember what?

"Didn't think so.."

There was the sudden sound of clapping, and Rin spun around quickly. "Oh.. Max? Sakura?" She recognized Max first, then Sakura. And the woman with them she remembered as the check-in lady. "What the hell..? What are you doing here?" Rin shouted, standing close to Uindo.

"I?m Michelle. I?m an executive from the company that made Monster Network, G-Games Corporation. Your two friends, along with yourself and a few others, all have Platinum Monsters. If you don't mind, Kitty, would you please come with us and chat for a bit?" the woman said in, what seemed to be, one long breath.

Rin looked to Max. He nodded, signaling that she could trust her. "Okay.." She followed the woman with Uindo and the others.

Takahiro had stuck around to see Sakura's victory. He was glad that Zephyr had seemed to change, but was worried about the woman that was talking to Sakura. "Meh...nothing to worry about...Sakura and Zephyr can handle themselves." Takahiro said to himself. He returned to his search for his opponent. He had come to a bench in the center of the wooded area when he saw someone sitting down. Takahiro tapped them on the shoulder. The player looked back. "Sorry to bother you but are you Rakuhouha?" Takahiro asked.

"Yes that is me. Are you the player known as 'Ryu 01'?" Rakuhouha replied, pulling his MC out of his pocket.

"Yes...are you ready to battle?" Taka responded, pulling his MC out of his pocket.

"Thought you'd never ask..." Rakuhouha said summoning his Monster, Shadow, his dual sword weilding samurai type monster.

Takahiro summoned Kayin to the grounds and checked Shadow's stats, "Crap...their level is much higher than ours, Kayin...."

"We'll see about that..." Kayin said looking up at Shadow. He drew out three Kunai, one in each hand and the other between his teeth.

"Shadow, Meld into the darkness!" Rakuhouha shouted.

"Right...' Shadow seemed to do just that, becoming invisible to Kayin and Takahiro.

"Aw man, where is he?" Kayin said in a muffled sound since he was holding the other Kunai. He looked around carefully so as to not be caught off guard.

Takahiro looked around too and saw something jump over him. "Kayin watch it!" Takahiro yelled.

"Eh?" Kayin turned around with hardly any time to block with his Kunai. "Aw man that was way too close...." He said still holding off Shadow's blades. He was starting to get pushed down from Shadow's strength as he grew more and more tired.

"Okay Shadow...Dark Force!" Rakuhouha shouted.

Shadow's swords turned blacker than they already were and literally forced the small Kayin into the ground hard. "Now you lose!" Shadow said about to drive one of his swords into Kayin.

"No!! Kayin! Disappear! I don't want you to get hurt!" Takahiro yelled.

Kayin didn't disappear...instead as the blade reached him he blocked the sword with a single kunai and completely stopped its movement. "I won't get hurt...I promise..." Kayin shone silver and the light blinded Shadow temporarily. Kayin he stood up from the ground and seemed to transform, or at least get older. He had a different outfit and was now weilding a Katana of his own. "Hm...interesting..." Kayin said in a deeper voice as he studied his blade.

Takahiro looked up, "Kayin...you evolved..." He noticed a sound come from his MC and looked to see that two new attacks had shown up: Thor's Fist and Zeus' Strike. "Hm...Kayin...let's test out your new skills."

"I agree," Kayin replied taking his sword stance. Kayin appeared in front of Shadow and slashed both of his blades away. "Now...you lose." Kayin said.

"Thor's Fist!" Takahiro shouted. Kayin punched the ground sending a powerful shockwave at Shadow, which slammed him into a tree.

"Shadow!!" Rakuhouha yelled. He ran over to Shadow. "You did good buddy...I'm proud of you..." He said calling Shadow back to his MC. "You win Ryu 01...I'm glad to have met you. You are a very skilled fighter...take care..." Rakuhouha said walking off.

"Thanks..." Takahiro said. He turned his direction to Kayin. "Looks like my lttle boy is all grown up now." He said laughing.

"Guess so..." Kayin said sheathing his blade.

"I'm real proud of you for winning you fight like that Kayin." Takahiro said.

"You should be very proud of Kayin and yourself Mr. Ryu 01..." a woman's voice said. It was the woman who was talking with Sakura after that match.

"Good job you two." Sakura said from beside her.

"Thanks same to you." Takahiro said.

"I see you changed too Kayin," Zephyr stated.

"Yep sure did." Kayin said still happy with his transformation and first tournament victory.

"Why don't you join us on our walk?" The woman said to Takahiro.

"Sure." He said. Just so I can keep an eye on you... He thought. They all started walking to find another of their friends.

"Amor and Vita, your opponent is Mad Haxor and Leet." The lady at the computer said.

"Wah? That sounds like a newbie's name." Austin whined. She clicked the mouse several times.

"Well, you are a newbie too. It says you've been in only one battle. The tournament is set up so you and your opponent have a fair chance against each other." She answered him. Austin heard a beep come from his MC. He looked at it, and a dot moved towards him. Austin couldn't believe it, his opponet was comming towards him. Vita turned her head, and Austin looked at what she was looking at.

It was a kid, alot younger than him, running towards him. His grey hooded jacket bouncing with his small body, and out of his pocket was his MC. It beeped faster and faster. The Haxor character took it out, and slide to stop as his black hair bounced. He eyed Austin.

"What kind of name is 'Amor'?" He asked, loud and sarcastic.

"What kind of name is 'Haxor'?" Austin asked. He looked at the women at the computer with a face that screamed What did I do?.

"You two are holding up the line." She told them, smiling at Austin like she was enjoying his torment.

"Come on kid, I guess we are going to have to battle else where."

"Okie dokie." The kid bounced to an open area in the park, with Austin behind him. He pulled out his MC, and pressed a few buttons. A flash from it appeared, and a tall, dark armor medieval knight came out. It looked more like a suit of amor, a shadow filling it. Two yellow eyes starred soullessly, and Vita walked up to it. She poked the monster called Leet, and it stood still, like a soilder gaurding the queen.

"Vita, come here, we're about to battle." Austin shouted to her. She rans towards him, and then the suit of amor moved it head where Vita used to stand. So that was it's weakness. It was slow to react.

"Okay, let's do this!" Haxor told him. The suit of dark amor ran towards Vita, with a large sword readied. He swung it at Vita, but she easily avoided it. She moved her arms in a pushing movement while in mid-air, and vines wrapped around Leet's lower half. The vines tripped it, and the suit of armor then swung his sword at them, freeing his legs. Vita rans toward him, and Leet swung his sword at the air. A wave of air rushed towards Vita, and hit her directly, throwing her backwards. Vita stayed on the ground, and the dark armor walked to her.

"No!" Ausitn shouted. Haxor wouldn't understand their connection, he was in this for the game. The armor stood above Vita, sword raised above its head. Then, Vita's eyes opened, and a jungle of vines rushed upwards from the ground below her. Leet was tanggled in them, and could not get free. The sound of something scratching againist metal filled the air. Vita got back on her feet, and moved her arms. The vines withdrawed back to the ground. The dark armor, that was once Leet, layed on the ground, scattered.

"It's a good thing Leet is a amor monster. He will be fine." Haxor sounded more mature than he was sounding.

"Good match kid." Austin said. Leet returened to his MC.

"Good match, Amor." Haxor said. They went their seperate ways.

OOC: For a time there I thought this thread was going to fade away too early. Let's see if we can get it running again.

Paul walked for what seemed to be nearly twenty minutes before find his opponent. The tournament had taken up quite a large area, and many people were running about or gathering for battles. While on his search for Punk Queen and Anubis, the opponent he was to face and her monster, Paul began to worry about the behavior of the young woman at the registration desk. She seemed to react differently to Ryusei and himself then she did to others, but as Ryusei had mentioned to him before, he was probably just being paranoid.

"Hey, you!" A harsh voice shouted from behind Paul. He turned around to come face-to-face with a girl about his age, wearing a jean jacket, jeans with torn knees, multiple piercings, and a spiked mohawk dyed orange. "You're the one known as Dragon Tamer?"

"Yes, I am." Paul said calmly after a pause, an act that seemed to agitate the girl greatly. "Fine then" she replied, "let's get fighting. I have a tournament to win, and you're just a bump in the road."

The two of them faced off on a blacktop area used for basketball games. Punk Queen was quick to release her monster, a five-foot stone statue of the Egyptian god Anubis. Paul was not in such a hurry, and let Ryusei coil around him as he reviewed the opponent's data. "This will be a tough one. Her monster has a high defence an decent attack, but it doesn't look like it can make too many attack before tiring out." Paul spoke as he read, but Ryusei finished his train of thought. "So, I'll just have to keep dodging and let him wear out." "Exactly."

"Yo!" Punk Queen shouted, "You going to fight or just chat with yourself?" Ryusei hissed at the girl and uncoiled herself. The two teams faced each other as the fight began. Anubis was suprising fast for his size and mass, but still not enough to hit Ryusei's slender, darting form. Occasionally Paul would tell Ryusei to hit the statue with a fireball, but the stone monster's defense was too high to cause real damage. Still, it was enough to irritate Punk Queen even more as her monster failed with each strike.

As is to be expected with any fight, Ryusei's luck finally ran out. While pausing to respond to another fireball command by Paul she was hit by Anubis's scepter, and when flying onto the blacktop, dazed and unmoving. Punk Queen gloated over the hit and commanded Anubis to finish off the weakened dragon. The order was shortlived, however, as flames engulfed Ryusei, and grew brighter until the formed a white light. As the light dimmed Paul was shocked to see that Ryusei was much larger, had grey skin, and shined brightly.

A beeping caught Paul's attention away from the sight of Ryusei's new form. Looking at his MC he noticed that slots two and three on the attack list had been filled. "Looks like the odd have tilted, Ryusei. Let's try our new talents out. Hit Anubis with your Plasma Charge." The light around Ryusei seemed to fade for a second, before it reformed at the edge of Ryusei's open mouth. The ball of white light formed and lauched straight into Anubis's chest. The stone monster staggered, and pieces of him fell off, leaving a scorch mark and fifty-percent health.

"Still standing?" Paul said. " Ryusei, how about we see what Awakening does." This time the light surrounding Ryusei grew brighter, and several more lights formed on the ground. From each light a dragon of pure fire arose, thirteen by Paul's count. The dragons began to circle above, and all hope faded from Punk Queen's face. One-by-one the dragons swooped into and through Anubis, shaving points off of it health. The damage was small, but with so many of dragons it added up. To make matters worse, Anubis was having trouble damaging them. Each took several hits, but only a few fell before the monster literally crumbled to the ground. The fight ended and the stond monster faded into the girl's MC.

The shock finally wore off, and Punk Queen was back to herself. "YOU CHEATER!" she shouted loudly. There is no way that was a fair fight when you altered your monster like that." "Actually, it was completely fair." Both Paul and Punk Queen looked over to see the young lady from the registration desk approach. "I am Michelle, and I work for G-Games, the company that produces this game. So I can assure you that this fight was legitimate. There were a select few players that received rare monsters when they signed up. These monsters are able to change form and stats during battles." Punk Queen looked ready to explode, but the cold stare from the young woman told her that she wouldn't win this fight either. With that, Punk Queen stomped away from the Tournament, leaving Paul to be congratulated by Michelle and the group he had joined with earlier.

Sakura waited until Paul finished his fight. He was the last one.
? Well done Paul!? Sakura congratulated him. He nodded his thanks.
? Yes, well done all of you!? Michelle said, stepping in. ? Now, I?d like you to all follow me. I have something very important to tell you all.?

The group followed Michelle into a white tent of sorts, obviously it was for this particular purpose, although, it did look like it was put up in a bit of a hurry. Sakura and the others followed Michelle into the tent. There was plenty of seats around. Michelle grabbed one, flipped it around and sat down, facing the others. All of them sat in front of her.

? Now, as you might all know, all of you have Platinum Monsters, correct?? Michelle began. All of them nodded.
? Good. Well, Platinum Monsters are actually not part of the game we released. At first, we thought they were just glitches in the system. But when we saw that these glitches actually became monsters, something was definitely up. We didn?t not to delete your monster?s programming because we knew they had become friends with some human somewhere. We?re just lucky that you are all in Tokyo.?

? Excuse me,? Takahiro interrupted, ? But why did you drag us all in here? Just for that??

? No,? Michelle said firmly. ? All of your monsters possess powers that no other monsters have. It?s because they were glitches that they have these powers.?

? So, what you are saying is that our monsters are mistakes?? Max piped up.

? Technically, yes. But I don?t think that way. Monsters are beautiful creatures and suit their players individually. What I am trying to say is that, expect the unexpected and always keep your MCs on you, no matter where you go,? Michelle said.

? Would this have anything to do with LIVE?? Paul asked solemnly.

A shocked look was upon Michelle?s face. ? How did you know??

? We?ve already had a run-in with them,? Sakura explained. ? All of us have been challenged by them. They had monsters so advanced that they would have wiped us off the floor.?

? Very well,? Michelle added, ? But do you know anything more about LIVE??

? Just that they want our monsters for some diabolical scheme,? Austin replied.

Michelle nodded knowingly. ? All right then. LIVE is a band of players that have rebelled against G-Games Corporation. Their leader, we suspect, is a hacker by the name of Martin Sheen. He claims that we stole his idea of ?Monster Network? and now has hacked into the system of MN and is trying to bring it down by viruses and worms. There have been reports of Monsters that appear out of nowhere and destroy actual buildings. They also report that there have been no player with them and these monsters are extremely advanced and powerful. Platinum Monsters are the only hope we have for Monster Network. We haven?t been able to pinpoint who is a LIVE member and who isn?t, although, Sheen might have copied the code and made a sector of the game himself.?

? Then that means even if you searched for the player?s names, you wouldn?t be able to find them on your network?? Max asked. Sakura?s head was slightly spinning from the information given to them.

? That?s exactly what I am saying. Whoever the members of LIVE are, we can?t find out any statistics on their monsters or them whatsoever. You will have to fight them alone.?

? What do you mean fight them?? Takahiro asked.

? This is the whole reason I brought you here. I wish to offer a proposal. G-Games Corporation and I would like the ask all the players with Platinum Monsters to help disband LIVE and restore Monster Network to the safe, enjoyable game it once was. So, how about it??

The group murmured to each other. Michelle looked at them anxiously, waiting for their reply. Sakura nodded to all the others when they finished discussing everyone?s opinions and turned to face Michelle.

? We accept?? she said but was cut off by Michelle.

? Excellent!!?

Sakura cleared her throat. ? But there is two conditions.? Michelle looked at Sakura sternly, as if to bully her into no conditions. Sakura stood fast. ? The condition is that our Monsters will not be destroyed after all this is finished, as we all suspect they will. And two, we are not to be disturbed by you people after this.?

? All right I agree. We will contact you when we get wind of the movements of LIVE.?

Sakura nodded and the group stood and left the tent. All of them felt a little intimidated in there, with Michelle asking them so much when they were only starting at this game. Zephyr walked beside Sakura proudly, Takahiro on her other side. She turned to her brother.

? I hope this doesn?t interfere too much with our lives??

OOC: Ok guys. You need to start your post with some thinking about the offer, and end it being at school the next day. You can have your monsters go wild or something. Whatever you like.
