What does everyone think about the collaboration of JAY-Z and LP? I think it's a great album they've made; I really like the song Encore. It was a good idea they had I would say. Do you think any more bands will do this in the near future as a result of this?

As an old-time fan of hip-hop and a budding fan of rock, I encourage as much fusion between the two genres as possible, so as long as they're good. I like this collaboration, and this is an album I'd definitely love to buy. Linkin Park has gotten a little stale to me lately, and a little spice from Jay-Z is just what they needed. It helps that Jay-Z is one of the few rappers of today that I actually respect.

However, I know there have got to be plenty of LP fans out there who dislike hip-hop. Much like Reanimation, this is an album they should avoid (although I'd like to point out the irony of a ravenous Linkin Park fan only liking half of their albums).

Yeah I think that this album is going to be awesome. The only songs I have heard are Encore and another one obviously, but I can't remember the name. Overall I think this is a good idea,

Reason 1. Its been a while since Linkin Park has put anything out. Its about time they have.

Reason 2. Linkin Park is my favorite Band also, so i've been waiting for something new.

I to have felt that it was a well thought out collaboration. Some of the songs like, Numb/Encore, or Jigga What/Faint, had the same tempo, making it sound very cool, but their was one song I just wished They left alone like In the end, I mean, why use that song, that song alone sounds good. Will their be another band doing the same idea LP and JZ did? Well, the next day after I bought LP/JZ's album, I heard Mash up between, Boulevard of broken Dreams from Greenday and Eminem's Sing for the moment. There was this other band on the mash up, I just forgot what they were called. I think that was remixed by a fan but I it wasn't as good as Linkin Park and JayZ's collaboration...

I haven't heard the entire album, but I did hear one song that they did on the radio and I honestly hated it. I like rap/hip-hop, and I'm a fan of Linkin Park, and if they had done it differently I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more, but it just seemed all wrong. Jay-Z was just rapping to a repeated part of an LP song, and it sounded awkward and out-of-sync. I kept waiting for LP to do some singing too, or for Jay-Z to start sounding better, or for the melody to change, but it just kept on that way throughout almost the whole song, until I finally just changed the station because the song annoyed me so much.

I don't know, maybe the rest of their album is better...

I personally felt this album was a good idea. The only dissapointments I have are that A. Some stuff sounds kind of weird and B.Linkin Park cusses in these songs!

I KNOW there will be other bands that will do this, mostly because its the studio that puts this crap together, and also because on the live TV version it wasnt called "JZ+LP it" was called "MTV ultimate mash ups"

Honestly, I'm an LP nut and casual Jay-Z fan who thinks this should not have happened. What's the point? Get two big names like Jay-z and Linkin Park, have them play their beats to each other's songs for twenty some odd minutes (twenty minutes, not even the full half-hour like Hybrid Theory and Meteora had the decency to give us), and see how well it sells.

No thank you. While the Encore/Numb fusion was pretty good, and I like some fusions, others just didn't sound right. I'd prefer if Shinoda and the gang just did original music instead of all the gimmick albums like Live in Texas and Reanimation (an album I loved but still see as a gimmick in some ways).

I admit, I just don't like "Izzo/In The End", and I only recently found out it's impossible to buy this 6-track CD without the "behind the scenes/live" DVD. But the mashed-up songs that I like are done pretty well. It's not often the artists themselves do this type of thing, and they pulled it off better than any fan could've. A few original tracks would've made this album better, in my opinion.

Why did LP have to remake In the End twice? I love the song the first time around, and it took me awhile to warm up to the Reanimation version, but another remake is just weird. And played to Izzo?

I do think that Dirt off Your Shoulders/Lying from You was an inspired combo, especially since they combine my favorite songs from either artist(s) with an awesome new beat. How did these two hook-up anyways? Jay-Z and Linkin Park were two names I never expected to hear in the same sentence much less the same CD.

You know what? I wonder the same thing. Personally, I don't like Jay-Z, but I'm an lp freak, hence my username. But I have the album, and although it's not very long, it's got a lot of kickass songs on it..well, except for Izzo/In The End.
Personally, my 2 favorites off the album are Big Pimpin'/Papercut and Points of Authority/99 Problems/One Step closer but I like Points of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer more, because it has my 2 favorite lp songs in it.

Well, I'd just like to say that though this was an MTV concoction, it was originally only intended to be only one song. Mike Shinoda thought that it would be fun to do more, and the others agreed I guess.

The cd is basically just a mix of Linkin Park and Jay-Z songs, and I love both of them, and the CD turned out really really well. I loved it. I admit there were moments were the songs didn't quite mesh entirely, but I still enjoyed every track.

Oh and Omar Harris, I have to really disagree with you on Reanimation, considering most of the artists featured are really unknown underground guys. I see it more as Linkin Park (well, mostly Mike Shinoda and Joseph Hahn) expressing their appreciation and fondness for hip-hip.

I'm totally with you on the Live In Texas thing though.

I was just talking about this on another board, No I dont think it was a good idea. I like the original versions so much better. I mean it ruined the songs, I think I might feel this way because I just hate rap.
Well, LP is pretty much comprised of rap so I don't get how you can say that. Anyway I really love this album, ever since I heard numb/encore. I think remixes and collaborations are great ideas, new ways to look at different songs in different ways. In other words, it's all good.

LP/JZ to me, was a great idea and was carried out great. Jay-Z, my favorite MC of all time, a Linkin Park, one of my more liked rock bands coming together was like a dream to me. It like "The Best of Both Worlds", but without the alleged sex-offender!

But seriously, this was a pretty good idea. Although I really wish they would have included a few more than six tracks. I mean, I was going threw the "Blueprint: The Gift" album and was shocked they didn't do a version of "Takeover" (that little battle track Jay recorded, using nothing but a bass guitar and drum beat) which would've sounded great with Linkin Park playing for him. Aswell, why didn't they do a "Breaking the Habit" remix? They could've used "Moment of Clarity" from the "Black Album" and made a great song.

I loved the CD, I just wish they would've done a little more with the potential they had. Oh, and if your an LP fan and don't like Hip Hop (or Jay-Z for that matter), thats a bit heretical, seeing as how almost all of their songs include an MC and DJ, both influenced in style by artists such as Jay-Z. Just my thought...
