B-SPEC

[ NOTE ]

Before I begin, I want to point out that this is essentially a re-posting of an older RPG of mine. I want to re-start it with new characters (save for my own). It may also have a slightly different spin on it (hence the B-Spec sub title). If you were in the older RPG, please feel free to sign-up with a new character. Thank you.

This RPG is based on the Maverick Hunter series of RPGs, which was originally created by Warlock and Final Flash. Due to the fact that this is the third in the series, it is my hope that any of you who are new to the series will take a glance at the two previous RPGs before joining. I know that this requires extra effort, but it is pretty important. The Maverick Hunter series has a great story, with characters that have really taken on strong personalities. I want to maintain that here.

Anyone who was a part of the previous two stories is, of course, welcome to join in. However, you may not use your original character. The Third Succession takes place approximately 260 years after the end of Maverick Hunters: Personification.

If you're new, once again, I recommend taking a look at the older RPGs. And knowing a little about Mega Man would be very useful here (as this story is very loosely based on Mega Man). Knowledge of that game is not terribly important though, as our series is mostly pretty different; it just retains a few names and character design styles.

Also, if you have no intention of sticking around for a while in this RPG, please do not sign up. My own time is as limited as yours, but I'm going to try my best.

[ A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF OUR HISTORY ]
2000 - 2250 A.D.

The 21st century unfolded on turbulent times in mankind's history. Terrorism and war were paramount in the minds of many. And yet, at the same time, great advances in technology were becoming apparent. These advances, as time would demonstrate, were both positive and negative in nature.

Indeed, the key to the story of man's history during the 21st century can be found within the creations of one man: Dr. William Light. Dr. Light was a scientist who bucked the trend of many in his field during the early 21st century. While many were focusing their work on the development of weaponry and security systems, Light's work was focused on one passionate goal; to create. That is, to create rather than destroy. It so happened that Dr. Light's work led him invariably to the development of highly advanced artificial intelligence, or A.I. This intelligence, combined with Light's work on advanced robotic systems, led to the creation of the Reploid.

The Reploid's life during the first half of the 21st century had an undeniably positive impact on the human race. Despite the fact that several models had become uncontrollable and dangerous (and subsequently destroyed), the vast majority of Dr. Light's reploids provided important services in human society. Reploids were used as field surgeons during war, relief workers in war-torn countries and even mine clearers. And, eventually, reploids took their place in mankind's everyday life. While they were too intelligent to be used as home servants or anything of the sort, they were often employed for physical labor purposes. As it turned out, most Reploids who posessed free will ended up joining military service or civil police forces.

Despite the few bumps along the road, the 21st century heralded a new world order for mankind. It was an order where man and machine lived happily side-by-side. And, toward the middle of the century, world peace seemed to be an achievable goal. But, as with many things, the good times and prosperity were not to last.

Sometime during the 21st century, a terrible disaster occurred. To this day, we do not know the exact nature of the disaster. Nor are we aware of the exact year that the disaster struck. However, we do know that it destroyed much of the earth's population. Approximately 4.8 billion people were killed as a result.

Out of the ashes emerged a new sense of hope. Although mankind's worst tragedy had occurred, the human spirit endured.

The nation states that were spared (or what was left of them) came together to reform the United Nations. However, the UN's purpose was now far more real -- it effectively became a new World Government, with responsibility for all of the territories on Earth. And, in keeping with the concept of a SGN (Single Global Nation) policy, a World Capital City was established. It was named Novus Concordia. The city was constructed on what was left of the Commonwealth of Australia, which had suffered the brunt of the worldwide disaster. Novus Concordia was man's finest achievement. It sprawled over the entire continent and at its peak, was home to approximately 1 billion people (or, almost half of the world's population at the time).

And, as the decades passed, mankind was somehow able to grow anew. Novus Concordia's economy boomed and the remaining nations of the world shared in global prosperity. Poverty and famine were virtually nonexistant during this period. And, once more, the Reploid began to enjoy an increasingly prominent position in society.

But even so, mankind was unable to avoid tragedy. A computer virus known as the Maverick Virus began to infect reploids across the planet. Reploids infected by the virus became known, simply, as Mavericks. Mankind's conventional military forces were unequipped to handle such powerful beings. Reploids are, by nature, far more physically powerful than human beings.

The Maverick Virus' spread lead to what is known as the Maverick War. The Maverick War was fought on a global basis, with millions of human troops. The war lasted for several years and during the latter half of the war, mankind began to rely even more heavily on Reploids for assistance. Reploids were recuited into regular army units and were used as a way of evening the playing field between Maverick and human.

Finally, the war ended. But man did not forget the negative effects of the Mavericks and was afraid that they may someday return. And so, the United Nations established its own defence force, known as the Maverick Hunters. This new force was housed within a massive complex, known as Maverick Hunter Headquarters. MHHQ was located within Novus Concordia, but was marked as its own territory. It was the size of a large city and was surrounded by expansive titanium barriers. MHHQ developed a powerful Reploid Army, as well as an Elite Squad, who were responsible for fighting Maverick outbreaks around the world.

The years following the MHHQ's establishment were turbulent to say the least. The Mavericks rose again, though in more limited numbers. An attempt was made to infiltrate the leadership of MHHQ and last but not least, a terrorist organization known as Red Alert launched a war against the organization. You will find more information about the war in the next historical file.

[ A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF OUR HISTORY ]
2250 - 2510 A.D.

The second major war involving the Maverick Hunters is known as the Protogen War. The Protogen War lasted for approximately 15 years.

To understand the Protogen War, one must first understand the organization that perpetuated it. And, perhaps more importantly, the leader of that organization must be explored.

The Protogen War involved the Maverick Hunters and a terrorist organization known as Red Alert. The terrorist organization was headed by Dr. Lucia Karman. Dr. Karman had worked as an associate to Dr. Light in the early 21st century. And initially, the arrangement had worked well. However, unlike Light, Karman was interested in the concept of moulding both human and robotic parts together to create living organisms. These organisms are known as Cyborgs.

The Cyborg, a creation of Dr. Karman, was roundly rejected by the scientific establishment. It was considered to be inferior to the Reploid, but on a broader level, Dr. Karman's use of human organs was considered crude and unethical. Dr. Karman engaged in illegal actions in order to obtain many of the organs used in her experiments. When Dr. Light made this discovery, he disassociated himself with Dr. Karman and her research.

In the years that followed, Dr. Karman continued to pursue the development of Cyborg technology. And even more disturbing, she began to develop military-grade units that were capable of operating firearms and heavy military machinery. Her research culminated with the development of PS-100, a Cyborg created to look like a small boy. Karman became obsessive over her creations and labelled PS-100 as her very own son.

At this point, Dr. Karman's life took a dramatic turn for the worst. An airstrike that had been ordered on a sector of Novus Concordia (on the very block that Karman's laboritory was located), completely destroyed most of her research. The strike also destroyed PS-100. It is important to note that the airstrike was ordered by Warlock, a former member of the Elite Squad within the Maverick Hunters. As a result of the airstrike, the Maverick Hunters dismissed Warlock. The specific circumstances surrounding the strike are sketchy as of this time.

Nevertheless, Dr. Karman barely escaped the attack. She was horribly injured and fled to North America.

In an effort to repair herself, Dr. Karman employed her own Cyborg technologies. She charged a group of her very own Cyborgs with the task of operating on her damaged body -- they transplanted synthetic body parts for her own damaged ones. It could be said that Dr. Karman's very soul was destroyed as a result of this operation. Her appearance was much younger (she was around 50 when the operation occurred) and she was at least 50% machine.

The next few years are, as with the rest of our history, somewhat blurry. Just after her operation, the terrible disaster occurred. Dr. Karman managed to survive, by housing herself in a bunker deep underground.

Despite the personal losses that she had suffered as a result of the disaster, Dr. Karman primarily had the Maverick Hunters in her crosshairs. She held them responsible for the airstrike that killed her "son". And so, she commenced a compaign to destroy the organization.

It began with the establishment of Red Alert, a terrorist organization with five primary locations around the world. Dr. Karman used the organization to research and develop new Cyborg beings. Some of them were sold commercially, through a front organization known as Black Thorn Inc., a company created ostensibly as a defence contractor.

The sales of Cyborg units boomed, all while the subversive Red Alert festered in the shadows.

Finally, Dr. Karman developed a very unique unit. Not a Cyborg, but a Reploid. It was named P-180, or, Proteus.

Proteus was sold to the Maverick Hunters by Black Thorn. He was considered important, because he was the first Reploid of his kind. Proteus featured a unique technology called ACM, or, Active Cellular Modulation. In other words, Proteus was able to reform the titanium in his limbs, which enabled him to form a wide variety of weaponry (as opposed to the regular buster weapon that most Reploids were equipped with). Dr. Karman expected Proteus to be activated as soon as he was shipped to the HQ. But that wasn't the case. The Maverick Hunters placed Proteus in storage for several months before activating him. He was activated by Flash, a member of the Elite Squad.

Dr. Karman had hoped to remotely control Proteus and use his ACM capabilities to destroy the Maverick Hunters. But her attempts were unsuccessful. To this day, nobody is entirely sure as to why Dr. Karman was unable to manipulate Proteus.

This failure resulted in further desperate measures. Dr. Karman began constructing Reploids known as Protogen. The Protogen were similar to Proteus in physical appearance, but they were manufactured on a large assembly line. And they were, for all intents and purposes, a mere shell with which high explosives could be housed. The Protogen were mindless, brainless machines. They were, in effect, suicide bombers. Dr. Karman used them to launch a series of attacks on MHHQ over several years.

This is what led to the Protogen War.

The Protogen War ended when Dr. Karman herself was killed in battle. She was confronted by Proteus and it was he who destroyed her. At the time of her death, Dr. Karman was approximately 285 years old. Those who saw her true form (her form without an elaborate body-cloak) were mostly committed to mental care institutions. Karman was said to have become a horrific mutation beneath her unassuming disguise.

With the Maverick Hunter Headquarters almost completely destroyed and with much of the Elite Squad killed in battle, the future of the Reploid was uncertain.

The world changed greatly over the next two centuries. Reploids were no longer relegated to military service. And, by virtue of their increasing technological sophistication (and increasing similarity to human beings), Reploids began to take their place alongside man as equals. And, ironically, Cyborg technologies became far more safe and commonplace. The average life expectancy for human beings rose from 80 to 120 as a result of cybernetic implants. The oldest living human was recorded to have died in 2478, at the age of 146.

Proteus was beginning to reach the end of his natural lifespan. Reploids were able to live longer than humans, but they were not invulnerable to the ravages of time. After the Protogen war, Proteus travelled around the world. Eventually, he decided to take up University study. And after only two years of education, Proteus received his degree in Advanced Robotics. Proteus also studied medicine for several years, eventually becoming a doctor in the Novus Concordia Institute of Neurosurgery.

Proteus died in his home, in the Nebula Heights district of Novus Concordia, on November 10, 2499. He was almost 400 years old.

[ THE PRESENT DAY ]

Today, the world is at peace. Reploids are now very much like human beings. Their skin is organic, as is their hair. Although they are still fundamentally a machine underneath. Reploids continue to be born with human emotions, as they always were. And today, with advances in micro-robotics, Reploids are able to reproduce. Reploids are divided into male and female sexes and reproduce sexually. A female reploid would be able to give birth to an adult Reploid if she were appropriately sized, but because of body size limitations, female Reploids give birth to infant offspring.

And so, Reploids exist as humans do. Though there are noteable exceptions, particularly with regard to physical strength, lifespan and various other abilities (such as various in-built site displays, satellite-based navigation and self defense systems).

Despite the peace that exists in the world today, recent threats have arisen. Two years ago, a powerful new computer virus appeared on the scene. The virus is received only by Reploids. It attacks the Reploid's NeuroSyntronic brain whilst he or she sleeps. Currently, we do not know how the virus attaches itself to the host. Nor do we know where the virus originated. However, upon analyzing deceased Reploids who carried the virus, we find a single email file that includes the following:

"Welcome to our new world. Paint the streets with their blood and you will live in eternal peace as one of us."

The virus is known as X-Virus.

X-Virus has various effects on an adult Reploid. Most Reploids who are infected simply become violent, though they do not attack other Reploids. Instead, they attack human beings exclusively.

In response to the virus, a special task force has been set up by the Novus Concordia Defense Department. It is known simply as "X-Hunters".

Unlike Maverick Hunters, X-Hunters is a relatively small group. It consists of around 20 individuals, who are responsible for investigation as much as physical combat. Most importantly, the X-Hunters are responsible for discovering the truth about the X-Virus virus and its origins. It is believed that a new force is at work behind the scenes -- one with familiar links.

Remember, your character will be a Reploid if you are in X-Hunters. You can be "freelance" or "neutral" if you like. And you can also be human.

If you choose to be a Reploid, please bear in mind that ACM does not exist in current generation Reploids. That is, you will need to choose firearms and body attachments. You can be creative though -- remember, this story takes place in the distant future. But please, nothing "invincible" and so on.

And finally, bear in mind that current generation Reploids look exactly like human beings. The only difference is in the internal physical structure and the advantages that it brings (as mentioned above).

Name: (If you're a Reploid, you'll have a "traditional" human name, but you will also have a compulsory callsign).

Callsign: (ie: Proteus, Warlock, Flash, Demos, et al).

Age: (Be realistic, in keeping with the history).

Appearance:

Personality:

Biography:

Affiliation: (If applicable).

Primary Weapon: (Laser gun, arm-mounted buster, beam sabre, etc).

Secondary Weapon: (Grenades, Remote Mine, Proximity Mine, etc).

Defensive Capability: (If you are a reploid, you can choose one defensive ability -- ie: a collapsable shield, a force field, etc etc...but please try to avoid making it invincible).

And that's it. If you have any questions, please ask them within the thread. That way everyone can see, incase they have the same question as you. I encourage members who joined in on the former stories to sign up, but I also encourage new players who have read the history.

So there you have it. My sign-up will come shortly. No chapter system here, folks. It's all old school.

Name: Hawatari Hikage (Last name listed first)

Callsign: Ronin

Age: 23

Appearance: Ronin

Personality: Hikage is calm, collected, and cares little for emotions. He believes firmly in his duty, and refuses to be brought down. He is determined, strong-willed, and loyal.

Biography: Born twenty-three years ago to a Reploid family mired in Japanese tradition, Hikage was named for the "shadowed edge of a blade". Intrigued by his name, he studied ancient Earth history and found his passion lay for stealth, subterfuge, and loyalty to a master.

Hikage was assigned a master of the martial arts, Ninjutsu and Shaolin in particular. He excelled, becoming one of his master's best pupils and accomplishing feats impossible to other reploids, such as sticking to and running along walls and ceilings, or disappearing and reappearing behind an opponent. Throughout all this, he kept his belief in the honor system, doing only what is right.

Training hard and using his skills and traditions to their utmost, he became a full-fledged ninja, exceptionally skilled, and applied for a position in the Novus Concordia Defense Department. His skills were considered perfect for a position in X-Hunters, and he was accepted, young as he is.

Affiliation: X-Hunters.

Primary Weapon: A katana and a pair of wakizashi.

Secondary Weapon: Throwing kunai

Defensive Capability: His titanium-crossthreaded scarf acts as a shield capable of deflecting up to 180 kilograms/square inch of pressure. It does nothing against buster shots.

Hope that's okay, bossman. PM me if you need anything changed.

Name: Ariana "Aria" Kaze

Callsign: Sakura

Age: 22

Appearance: Here

Personality: Aria a very calm reploid and she doesn't raise her voice very often except when fighting. Often she speaks with a soft calm voice. She thinks quickly and if she's been given a task of any sort, she'll be determined to do it, no matter what the circumstances are. She's very loyal and won't betray anyone unless she doesn't trust them.

Biography: Aria was born into a mixed reploid family, her mother was a Japanese reploid, while her father was western. So when she was born she had a mixture of both of her parents, her hair is redish brown from her mother, her skin tone is from her father, and she gets her eyes from both, one of them is green while the other is blue. Aria's closer to her mother, which is why she follows the Japanese culture.

As she grew up, she asked where her name originated from, since not many people, let alone reploids were named Ariana. Her father told her that it was Italian for wind. After that, she set about to be like her namesake, and be as the wind. So she started to learn to become swift and agile, and to speak as softly as the wind whispers.

As she worked hard, she became more skilled and her parents got her a master to fine tune her training. Aria worked hard and determinedly as her master pushed her to her limits. Finally they thought she was ready and she went to apply for a position at Maverick Hunters, they decided that she had the right skills and capabilities to be in Sygnosis X and was finally accepted.

Name: Ran Jun-Li (surname first)

Callsign: Zero

Age: naturally 23 years

Appearance: Ran Jun-Li (The sword in the pic is how her Energy Blades look like.)

Personality: Blunt. Aggressive. Independent. There is no other way to explain this reploid. Jun is a reploid who stands by herself and speaks her mind. She believes that there is no sugar-coating the truth or whatever it is you must say. If she feels it, she'll say it. There is no hiding back feelings for Jun and there is no escaping her wrath.

Of all the emotions that a reploid or human could feel, anger, rage, and temperament are the three that she feels the most. There is no explaining why, but they say it connects her to a mysterious past.

Biography: "As the night approaches, I prepare myself for escape. They have no need for me here, nor do I have any need to stay. They used me as a test subject, a puppet, and a mere toy. When I became disobedient and grew a mind, they threw me into the garbage and left me there to rot. Little did they know that I was not defected, nor was I broken. I was in perfect working order and the other "toys" that they threw out soon became mine to work with and turn into dangerous weapons.

Tonight, I make my escape and there shall be no one to capture me. I shall set myself free from these idiots who believe that they can turn me into a weapon of mass destruction. I shall take to flight from this horrendous place and the people that placed the Ares Virus Chip into me. It shall be their demise that shall make my reputation known. I am Viral Project Ares Zero, commonly known as Zero. This will be the new beginning of an old ending to this chapter in a story.

A letter was found on the door to the CEO of the people who placed the AVC into Zero. It was written beautifully and gracefully, as if her handwriting was gliding in air. After the letter, came a recording that was found on the table where the men met with the CEO. It played over and over, the sounds of a beam gun shooting at its targets. Then a voice came at the last target. The next sound was not a beam gun, but a quick gasp and a thud. The voice was unrecognizable, but the words said after were dark, mysterious, and nearly ghostly.

"The clock strikes twelve and I have finished what I was to do in the beginning. These twelve men who sit here today were the ones responsible for my being. I have said that I would escape, but not until a few gifts were given in return. I have made my mark and now it is known that Viral Project Ares Zero, commonly known as Zero, is not to be taken lightly. It is my verdict and upon that verdict, I shall lay to bleed the fiends who cursed those like me.

I am the weapon of mass destruction that these men have told me to become. I am the assassin that they wanted me to become. I am Zero, the ghost who has come back from the dead and haunts those who cross her path."

At the end, it repeated after each message had ended. A never-ending message, told to those who entered the room. Yet, another message was found inside the CEO's inner jacket pocket. Looking at the small disk, they had opened it on a computer and began to read it slowly. It said this:

"To all those who have found the third message:

I am a mere prototype to your first of many experiments, I know this. Yet, you cannot conduct any other experiments for I have destroyed all work and research recorded, deleted all that was used in the creation of the Ares Virus Chip.

The Ares Virus Chip had only one task and that task was to control me. To create me into the perfect weapon for all mankind and reploids alike to see, yet you humans have not even noticed the defects it had upon me. It not only gives me the stamina and stealth, but now, given unto me is a greater poison that courses throughout my blood. This venomous virus is only known to corrupt my body and mind, giving me uncontrollable outbursts of rage and berserk states.

I tell you this, because of the disapproving days and horrid hours I have spent with you, I have become a deadly creature who only takes form when the scent of blood arises and meets the air, when I hear the blood curdling screams of the weak, when all I can think of is all the deaths that I have seen while I worked for you, without a choice.

Alas, it does not pain me nor does it give me any incentive to work for those who have wrong morals and values. It has made me stronger in will, in mind, and in heart. I am no longer a lackey to those who think they are greater than I. I have belief that no one is greater, but inspired.

Without further ado, I leave with only these words: Remember that Zero sees all, hears all, and knows all. Take heed, ladies and gentlemen, for I will return."

The people who had lived through this ordeal looked to one another and knew that she would return. They feared that the AVC would create a monster within reploids, but they didn't realize that the prototype had added material within it. Therefore, the people still continued the work, beginning to perfect the AVC.

Who she is, no one truly knows. A mysterious past and a mysterious present, esoteric and ghost-like is they know how she is. The one sure thing that they do know is she will become the saviour of the disabled, the incapable, and those who fear no one can rescue them.

Affiliation: Free Lancer, soon teams up with Sygnosis X.

Primary Weapon: Twin Plasma Blasters

Secondary Weapon: Twin Retractable Energy Blade - This weapon can become chained kunai, when connected, but also it can become energized with a strange energy that can drain the power of a reploid and at times, electrocute them. It depends on how strong the Blade is at that moment.

Defensive Capability: Telekinesis - Although this does not help with escape, Jun's defensive capability is, by far, just as great. It allows Jun to create small force field domes around her or several others, take control of material objects, create shields and the like. It also allows her to create illusions of herself or others which confuse the enemies.

OOC: I hope this is better. If it's not, then I tried.

Name: Trey laRogue

Callsign: Jester

Age: 28

Appearance: At six foot five Trey isn't easily missed in a crowd, though it would be hard to miss him otherwise. Long thick blonde hair and blue eyes make it impossible to ignore his presence, as does a wide mouth that always seems to be flashing its pearly white grin.

He has the frame of an Olympian god, which he showcases with a tight black singlet and loose black jeans. His muscular bulk is unique in that can shift from relaxed and soft to a solid fortress of muscle at the drop of a hat, making him invaluable in ambush situations, and a heart throb to any woman who crosses his path.

For all his photogenic qualities, though, Trey's perfect body is marred by an arm of cold steel, a cybernetic replacement that had to be installed when he was 15 years old. It's a crude barren mechanism, with exposed wires and hydraulics, but it's potential for on the go modification is what keeps Trey from replacing it -- every other cybernetic arm he has found is completely hard wired.

Personality: Trey is a very happy-go-lucky person, who delights in playing with machinery and telling jokes to a responsive audience. This is a sharp contrast to the rest of his mercenary kind, who he sees as too serious and grim. He often makes light of this around them, and thusly finds himself in trouble more often than he should. He still doesn't learn, though.

Biography: Born into a wealthy family, Trey was arrogant and rude until his fifteenth birthday, representing the rich teenage stereotype to a tee. But after a horrible accident - a practical joke involving a remote mine gone wrong - his outlook on life changed. After having a brush so close to death he realised just how precious life is, and made it his mission to live life to the fullest.

After his arm was installed (which he later pulled apart to make it what it is today), he toured the world, meeting thousands of reploids and humans he is proud to call friends, and partaking in hundreds of different occupations until, at 22 years of age, he settled on mechanic, quickly learning to love pulling things apart... and eventually putting them back together. However, he became bored of a life tied down in one spot, and decided to take his job to the road: becoming a mercenary who just happened to specialise in dismantling mechanics and robotics.

Affiliation: Mercenary

Primary Weapon: Laser, a big wrench when required

Secondary Weapon: Remote mines and grenades

Name: Zaeon P. Carter

Callsign: Auricom

Age: 28 Natural Years

Appearance:

Personality: Auricom is a born leader. Both his mother and father were highly independent people, with commanding roles in Novus Concordia's society. And Auricom is the result. Whilst he has the ability to lead others, he is not without a sensitive side.

When the time calls for it, Auricom has the ability to put emotion over logic. But generally, Auricom is a clear thinker who sees things in a very three dimensional way. He values friendship and loyalty above most else, though he does tend to put the mission at hand before his own personal needs. Auricom is, by nature, a servant of a higher cause -- in this case, the NC Defence Department. He tends to feel somewhat useless if he is without a cause to defend.

Biography: Auricom is, as mentioned above, a result of his family history.

Auricom's father is Proteus Carter II. His famous name comes from his father, P-180. As we know from Novus Concordia's history, P-180 served the Maverick Hunters for many years of his life. And after that, he became a renound neurosurgeon. Proteus became dedicated to the preservation of life, rather than the destruction of it. In a sense, he had always lived up to his basic sense of duty, despite the original intentions surrounding his creation.

When Proteus left the Defence Department to become a civilian, he took on the last name "Carter", which was a name that had been held by one of his greatest human friends, who had died several years earlier.

While studying at the University of Novus Concordia, Proteus fell in love with a striking young woman named Elena Novus Carter. Elena was only just beginning her career in the world of defence -- she was, quite literally, a missile scientist. Elena was researching ballistics and advanced anti-gravitational technology. Proteus and Elena fell in love almost instantly and over the coming years, they decided to have a child. This was, of course, impossible. Proteus was a Reploid and Elena was a human being. However, new advances in robotics technology allowed Proteus and Elena to "create" a specifically-engineered child, one which took on their combined traits. Their child -- a new generation Reploid male -- was simply named, Proteus Carter II.

Proteus Carter II, like his parents, became a scientist. His mother died when he turned 50. She had died from a rare disease that had attacked her neurological system. This was partly what drove Proteus Carter II's father to the field of neurosurgery.

Eventually, Proteus Carter died. His son, Proteus Carter II, took up work within the defence department only five years later. And while working there, he encountered his future wife, with who he had Zaeon Proteus Carter.

For years, Zaeon Proteus Carter has worked in various areas of the Defence Department. He never liked the desk jobs, though, and when offered the chance to head a special new unit (X-Hunters), he gladly accepted.

X-Hunters was established in the underground of Proteus Carter II's expansive estate in New Hokkaido, on the outskirts of the city.

Proteus Carter II was killed by the X-Virus just after the establishment of the X-Hunters facility. There are rumors that the creators of the virus knew of his involvement and deliberately targetted him.

(Note: New Hokkaido is Japan's capital city in the current time. It is where Proteus Carter II moved after his wife's death. The estate that he owned was also owned by Proteus Carter, which is why it is now being used by Zaeon. The Reploids who are working for X-Hunters are recruited from various places in the world and for various reasons -- some worked within the United Nations, while others worked within the UN Defence Department and were sourced in that way.)

Affiliation: X-Hunters.

Primary Weapon: Twin Pheyton Blasters. Pheyton is a powerful plasma-like substance, which can be highly explosive upon impact. In addition, Auricom's highly accurate aim and physical agility allow him to operate the weapons with a strong sense of control.

Secondary Weapon: Retractable Beam Sabre.

Defensive Capability: Teleportation. Auricom is capable of limited teleportation. His synthetic body enables his action, though it requires large reserves of physical energy. In addition, Auricom cannot teleport long distance. For the most part, he relies purely on his physical agility to avoid dangerous situations.
Remember, your character will be a Reploid if you are in Sygnosis X.

I'll take a crack at this. I haven't been in contact with any MegaMan games for a while, and not with the X series since I was 9.

Name: Daina Mikalauskus (need to check spelling, given name first)

Occupation: Writer of fantasy novels

Pen-Name: Shibata Yukihime (surname first)

Callsign: Snowflake, or Flake for short

Age: Appears to be adolescent; has been writing for 20 years (translation: she's lost count herself)

Appearance: Pale bluenette with braided pigtails, dark grey eyes, and a cute East-European traditional outfit for public appearances and book signings. Wears a shimmery gray, low-cut evening gown for black-tie events, and a jeanskirt, tights, furry boots, and a gray furry parka for day-to-day. I'll attach a picture later.

Personality: She enjoys the following mental disorders, to the point of bragging about them:
Schizophrenia
Multiple Personalities
Obsessive-Compulsive
Bipolar
ADHD
and a mild form of Kleptomania exclusive to candies, though whether or not she eats them is a different question entirely.
Practically speaking, she's immature and quite aggressive. She also tends to make inappropriate innuendos to cute guys, though she's never actually been with somebody, and she might actually prefer girls. You never know. She keeps mostly to herself and her somewhat pervie friends- GoldenKat and Blondi (who is brunette). She's outspoken when she wants to say something, though it isn't always important, she just thinks it is.

Biography: Flake comes from a loving family of Reploids- Romantique (her mother), ChemPlant (her dad), CarAlarm (her sister), and Lardo (her brother, who really is fat). Her mother's side of the family is mostly of Irish descent (they can trace her ancestry back to Irish makers over 1000 years ago), and her father's side is almost exclusively East European. Being, of course, a flake, Flake left home when she entered college for a dual major in Creative Writing and Computer Animation, and as a result, she does all her own cover art.

Affiliation: She hasn't been affiliated with anything since she left the college fencing club. Freelance all the way!

Primary Weapon: ChemPlant and CarAlarm made a custom blaster for her, which spews liquid nitrogen, but it takes up a lot of energy and has to be used only sporadically, so it can recharge by absorbing nitrogen from the air. She can recharge it with ammonia if necessary, and often has a bottle of the nasty stuff in her purse.

Secondary Weapon: Her voice. No, seriously. Flake can make a shock-wave with her shrieking, as well as alerting anything and everything within a 500 meter radius. She has a seriously loud voice.

Tertiary Weapon: *wild laughter* Just kidding!

Defensive Capacity: She can't dodge, put up a shield or a force field, or pretty much anything useful, but she can scream for reinforcements.

Am I in?

Name: Christopher M. Twanton

Age: 24 Natural Years

Callsign: Ranger

Appearance: [Secretary Report - HQ] - "His dark brown hair shot towards the heavens, with spikes that looked like they had been cemented into place by an industrial gel. Whilst his eyes played 'Snap', the deep irises of a dark brown, pools of experience and wisdom.

His figure was athletic, slim, but showed obvious signs of exercise by training, or the practice of other sports. The odd chisel scattered here and there along his bi-and-triceps. Whilst his legs were long in stature, showing signs of potential in agility and speed.

Height-wise, I'd say he stood at about 6'0" to 6'1", an average height in this day and age. Not too small so as to be blown to smithereens by a grenade, nor too large to make a marksmans' job easier. He also dressed in a trend he seemed to have developed by merging primitive styles with the new. He called his trousers 'jeans', that were loose fitting, dyed blue, whilst he wore a long-sleeved black top with a turtle neck. A silver necklace could be seen hanging from his neck, and his footwear were of the newest fashion. Mr. Dennett reflected on his clothing by stating that his uniform in Sygnosis X was completely that of what Sygnosis X would be seen wearing.

Overall, he was a very handsome man. He was polite, clever, and obviously experienced."

Personality: Ranger is an incredibly deep person. Having experienced much loss within his lifetime, he has now developed a very negative mindset, in that nothing lasts forever. Yet, despite this, he comes across as outgoing and laidback as much as possible when one has experienced what he had. But if the subject about his past or family arises, he can become closed, quick to temper, or irrational.

If the time comes, the mission is put first, and even though he prefers to lead, he does not give a second thought to falling into line as long as it does not affect the mission for the worse. Yet during a task, Ranger constantly looks out for his comrades, sometimes not even bothering to care for his own safety.

Due to his father's profession, Ranger is quite intelligent and can be very cautious in dangerous situations.

Biography: Ranger was born into a parental war zone.

His father was a scientist whom excelled in the subjects of Neurosurgery, and also Ballistics. Two subjects that contradicted each other completely, but proved to allow him a very varied career. For example, his knowledge in Ballistics allowed him to develop the research of Nanobots*. A calm, witty, and incredibly intelligent man, with the ability to inspire so many, his colleagues would've rather been titled 'Disciples'. He loved his son.

Ranger's mother was also a scientist. But she preferred the subjects of Synthetics, and the Science of Tactical Warfare. A greedy and cold woman, whom though beautiful, was capable of scaring the opposite sex away, rather than attracting them. Her thirst for power drove her to compete for the highest of positions in Novus Concordia. She hated her son for not being 'perfect'.

Yet despite these differences, Ranger's parents married for their love of Science.

When Ranger was born, everything grew pear-shaped. For one, his father, Zaylos H. Dennett, was overjoyed at the creation of this new child. Yet, Ranger's mother was horrified for she discovered that still, in this age, technology was not being created by human beings.

Arguments began to take place, and they were usually involving Ranger and his career. His father wanted him to pursue whatever he wanted, as long as it made Ranger happy, as a parent's love for a child ensues. However, his mother demanded that Ranger was drafted into the special force about to come about, Sygnosis X.

When he had turned 19 years of age, Ranger was kidnapped and forced into a laboratory, where his crazed mother was waiting, alongside a handful of specifically chosen individuals. Here they would operate; Replacing his right arm with a Blaster, enhance the aesthetics of Ranger's eyes, for they were his father's blue, and not his mother's dark brown; and fit a Durasteel leg that replaced Ranger's left leg, capable of releasing a Beam Sword by impulse. Ranger was being changed from human, to half-Reploid. A war machine. And was then reserved as an agent within Sygnosis X.

Outraged at the news of this incident, the shock deemed Ranger's father mentally unstable by the Supreme Government of Health, forcing him to divorce Ranger's mother immediately. And though Zaylos H. Dennett had followers willing to die for him in the name of Science, he took it upon himself to command his 'Disciples' to strap him full of explosives, and then charge into his ex-wife's house, where her new husband slept. Where he would ultimately...detonate.

Ranger was adopted at the age of 21 years of age by a former-senior member of his father's team, who was named Michael Twanton. Unfortunately Michael Twanton died at the age of 84, but taught Ranger to love again.

To this date, Ranger has been serving Sygnosis X with sworn loyalty, despite his mother forcing him there in the first place.

----------------------------
*Nanobots were devices that were capable of charging electrical surges into communications outpost that would explode. Their goal to shut off an enemy's communication ability. These were deemed too dangerous for they were thought to be easy for terrorists to acquire.
----------------------------

Affiliation: Sygnosis X

Primary Weapon: A Blaster that fires short plasma blasts very rapidly. The Blaster was designed so that its functions could be customised according to the mission at hand. Stealing energy from Ranger's biological electricity, there is no ammunition needed as such, but can make Ranger feel very faint if overused.

Secondary Weapon: A collapsable Beam Sword that is contained within Ranger's synthetic leg. The blade is two and a half feet long, the beam of a glowing pink.

Defensive Capability: A Beam Shield. Ranger's synthetic leg is said to be capable of surrounding his body with an extra layer of protection. Temporary, in that the effect lasts only about five minutes, and is only capable of protecting the body from blaster fire, this shield is not one to be depended upon. Therefore, Ranger relies on his Blaster's quick rate of fire, and agility.

Whew. Apologies for the length.

"An unnatural selection?"

"Something like that, but these are desperate times...right?"

"I don't wee why we have to send him out instead of pushing developement in the military district. Acon is just chasing a pipe dream."

"That, someday, Reploids will be in need of medical facilites and treatments suited to their needs exclusively?"

"That's exactly what I was going to say, why a medic? Reploids are built with the capacity to regenerate more efficiently than humans."

"Nothing is perfect, even Reploid units require human-built medical treatment from time to time. Besides, Acon's flagship model seems quite fitting for the work."

"I still don't see why Acon has to get the budget for the project...though. The UN knows that unit isn't going to fight for them, and yet they still funded Acon to aid in its completion..."

"Don't jump to conclusions, Acon's unit actually showed excellent performance in our initial testing. It has a maximum capacity for speed and balance, and its tactical and reconaissance skills showed far greater promise than some of the military units."

"That was only the initial testing? This thing hasn't even gone through military training yet?"

"Acon says they didn't want to push it. They still seem undecided as to whether or not their flagship is prepared for combat."

"Well, can it fight or can't it?"

"Acon's report said..."

"I don't want to hear what Acon..."

"No! This part is important, Acon claims that their flagship model cleared basic military tactical training with exceptional results. It has excellent capacities for combat and is known to be extremely fast and effective at taking down targets. Furthermore, the Acon unit does not seem adverse to fighting for the UN's cause, as it is completely aware of the situation going on in the outside world."

"Then why in the hell hasn't Acon sent the model down to the UN Defense for advanced testing yet?"

"Well, Acon says that the flagship model...actually, no, that's not the right way of saying it."

"Then what is the right way, damnit?!"

"Acon's CEO is currently holding the unit as a private experiment...because..."

"Because what?"

"Because the CEO has a son..."

---------------------------------------------------

"Okay, so, if I were to manually adjust the drive like this..."

"Whoa, wait, don't do that."

In the middle of his experiment, the teenage boy looked up at his work sitting in front of him. Coloured wires stuck out of its belly and chest.

"Why not?"

"Devin, if you try to manual adjust without shutting off the ear canal testers first, they'll overheat and drain all of the fluid out of my ears, and I'll lose my hearing and balance. You have to find another way to adjust the spinal column without interrupting the rest of the experiment."

Devin looked up at his work with incredulity, then laughed as he let himself fall backwards onto the floor from his sitting position. His work turned back and looked at him.

"Just what is so funny?"

"I'm good at doing this, I really am. Whenever we have a test on this at school I usually ace it; but whenever I try and work on you, I always make a stupid mistake like that somewhere."

"Is your humour supposed to reassure me, Devin? Come on, you can do this right."

Devin sighed and returned to a kneeling position, whereupon he moved around to the back and tried twisting a few different knobs.

"Devin, you can't do that either. Activating spinal column testing while I'm in active mode will cause me to manually shut down from a command error."

Devin ignored his work as he continued to twist the knob further upwards, trying to hit the right signal.

"Devin, are you listening to me? I'm going to shut down and the experiment won't work, Devin...Devin!"

Devin twisted the knob slightly higher and then pressed a small button on the terminal in front of him. His work immediately shot it's back into a full upright position, and did not move a muscle.

"Devin...how did?"

"The spinal tuning does not cause an automatic shutdown, silly. You're thinking of automatic organ and nanomachine tuning."

The work gave Devin the same look of incredulity he himself had given just a moment ago. Now it was the work's turn to laugh.

"Gee, that's strange, the data I was given said that testing on a Reploid unit's spine will cause an automatic shutdown if it's not in active mode."

"You're right, but my dad's people must have forgotten to add in the updated information from your own model type."

The work looked down and plucked a long white cord off its chest. Devin then proceeded to type a bit on the terminal and then remove a few more wires. The work looked back over his shoulder as Devin typed a few notes into a laptop.

"So, what does your teacher happen to say about your work?"

"That I belong in the senior class of Cellular Mechanics at Acon's university, and should quit wasting my time in high school."

"Well, I suppose it helps being able to do this stuff to me everyday, does it not?"

"Yeah, and the Acon U thing shouldn't be a problem, considering, you know, my dad owns it."

The work stood up when Devin finished typing and walked over to the back of a chair, whereupon he pulled out a gray shirt out frun underneath a plie of laundry, shoes, and even a few pieces of machinery.

"Aren't good scientists supposed to be neat and orderly, though?"

"I find order in almost everything I do, so no, I don't see why Acon would complain about a bit of dirty laundry."

"Acon may not, but your parents sure do."

"My dad'll probably forget the clothes even exist when the university diploma goes up on the other wall, that's all he ever wants to think about."

"Yeah..."

The work proceeded to take a few steps out the door, before Devin threw a heavy wrench at its spine. It did not react, it merely turned and looked back at Devin.

"That's my shirt, man."

"Sorry, I'll only need to borrow it for today. It's just a few more military training exercises today."

"Yeah, my last shirt was nearly completely dissolved last time you came back from one of those."

"Okay, my only mistake was that I didn't know those things could be modified with corrosive weapons. If I can trust you to take care of my body, then I'm sure you can trust me to take care of your shirt."

"Ok, man, but if the shirt does not come back in one piece, then you shouldn't either."

"No problem."

The work flashed Devin a cocky smile before disappearing out the door.

"Later."

Name: Andrew O'Reilly

Age: Body was synthesized from scratch, so it is actually 4 years old, but it has the appearance of about a 20 year old.

Callsign: Caduceo

Apprearance: -->Link<-- He is the person in the middle (sunglasses, gray clothing), and stands at about 5'4".

Personality: Despite the rather mysterious look and taste in clothes, Caduceo is actually a completely simple-minded person who is incapable of being anyone other than himself. That having been said, he is a rather argumentative preson who will let his opinions be known in any given situation, and yet does not mind what other people think of him. In short, he possesses the mentality of a child. However, Caduceo can also be a very calming voice of reason and can soothe even the most distressed patients with a few words. This quality was dubbed "The Bedside Effect" by Devin, who was, at the time, studying the manner of doctors who used to treat their patients in ancient times. "The Bedside Effect" is Devin's way of explaining how Caduceo can be so outspoken and brutally honest one minute, and then be trying to convince everyone that everything would be all right the next. Devin is fairly convinced that somebody screwed up in programming this quality into Caduceo, but it seems to benifit him and those around him more often then it may cause problems.

Biography: Caduceo's body was originally synthesized by a company known as Acontium Pharmaceuticals (otherwise known as Acon) for the purpose of finding methods of efficient field surgery on Reploid units. Caduceo is known in the innermost circles of Acon as "the flagship model", as he appeared to be the one that passed all of the standardized testing with the best results, even though some of the other units seemed to use more recent technology in their completion. However, Caduceo is still defined as being far from complete, as he still possesses but a few live combat skills, but that is not necessarily where his greatest strength lies.

Caduceo, having been created by a pharmaceutical company, was built to operate on Reploids and humans with a wide variety of medicinal components built into his body. To name a few, he is able to synthesize multiple antiseptics to deal with human wounds and preventing infections, as well as acid burn treatments like calcium gluconate gel. Caduceo's relative worth in combat is often questioned because most of his abilites only apply to human patients, but, according to Acon's report, possesses other unusual combat abilites which could easily catch an enemy off guard. He also has skills in negotiation and reconaissance, sinceh is small frame and rather casual appearance belies that of a professional soldier

Caduceo's past, however, has been one of much peace and relatively normal living. Since his synthesis, he has been living with the CEO of Acon's son, Devin O'Reilly. Caduceo's body, having no biological parent, did not have a name, so Devin gave him "Andrew O'Reilly". Devin's explanation being: "I have a lot of friends with weird new names, but Andrew is a really old one, and I kind of wanted to have a good friend with a normal name that I could pronounce."

Caduceo often found himself on the recieving end of Devin's homework in an amateur bio-mechanics course in high school. Through experimentation and study, Devin is slowly learning how to manage the robotic aspects of a Reploid, and even Acon says that Devin's work has been benificial to Caduceo's body, and, to a certain extent, the formation of his personality.

Caduceo says that he is not terribly crazy about entering military service yet, and still requires a little testing before he can join. However, he does seem eager to see just what is going on in the outside world, as, due to his young mental age, he also posesses a great curiosity about the world outside of Acon.

Affiliation: Acontium Pharmaceuticals (mainly neutral)

Primary Weapon: Stun Sword

"This would hurt if you ever poked yourself with it, and I should know."

Being built with the purpose of being a field medic, at a glance, he seems to have no kind of offensive weaponry. However, this is not the case, as one quickly realizes when attempting to engage Caduceo in unarmed combat. Attached to his left wrist, (normally concealed by his shirt) is a small device that uses controlled nuclear fission as a method of generating electricity into a small "stun gun" like device. Although the device is normally used to cauterize deep wounds, Caduceo can turn the juice up, so to speak, in order to change the small prongs on the wrist into veritable lances, and turn a device normally used to close wounds into a devastating electric sword. Even more effective is this weapon when Caduceo uses his vast knowledge of human and Reploid biology to aim at his target's weak points. Furthermore, if things get extremely desperate, he can remove the sword and cause an overload inside the fission reactor that powers it, turning it into a small bomb with an extremely short fuse.

Secondary Weapon: Acid Bomb

"This trick doesn't really sting much...or maybe I can't really feel my arms anymore"

This is a technique used only for the most desperate measures imaginable, as its results can deal heavy damage to humans and reploids in a wide radius, but it is also an indiscriminate attack that will devastate both friend and foe, and, to a certain extent, Caduceo himself. By enticing the nanomachines in his bloodstream to work at a faster rate than normal, Caduceo can grow an extra layer of skin just above his own, and then allow the nanomachines to synthesize flouride crystals and water in combination just underneath the extra layer. The resulting reaction produces hydroflouric acid (HF), an extremely powerful corrosive that can cause attacks of acude pulmonary edema if inhaled, and also cause sever burns on both on the surface of the skin and the blood vessels and bones underneath. Once the synthesis of the extra skin and HF is complete, Caduceo can cause a temperature spike inside his body and cause the skin and acid pocket to explode, sending clouds of acid into the air in all directions. Caduceo is not damaged by its inhalation, as he can generate calcium gluconate (a countermeasure to HF) inside his body, and the acid will only burn his body if he is not careful when generating the extra skin layer.

Defensive Ability: Cellular Fluid

"This will probably heal any wounds you have, but don't go cutting any limbs off just because I said that."

Caduceo's greatest skill as a field medic is the generation of a live-cell paste that can actually exist as an organism outside his body. However, since it is essentially single-cell, like an amoeba, it does not have any immediate use as a living organism. However, when the paste is applied to another person or reploid, it will work in conjunction with that organism's own cells in order to replair serious wounds to the body almost instantaneously. This skill, if used correctly, can even be said to regrow organs and parts of limbs. However, its usage comes at a high cost. Caduceo's body, being synthesized (and still at a young age, for that matter) requires a series of extremely well-calculated reactions at high energy levels in order to actually produce a living organism. His body actually contains a cell culture maintained at perfect temperature at all times, and, in order to produce the paste, Caduceo must divert nanomachines from his body into the cell culture, causing them to secrete a fluid which reacts with multiple other chemicals to produce the paste. Since the process is so complex, it takes both a lot of time to activate, and it causes fatigue almost immediately due to the redirection of the nanomachines that keep Caduceo functioning normally. Furthermore, in a worst-case scenario, such as being hit while in the process of generating the paste, the reaction may go awry and the resulting paste will be useless. Finally, since Caduceo cannot regenerate the nanomachines in his body, any accidents involving large groups of nanomachines damaged during this process may cause side effects, the least of which may include the reduction of Caduceo's expected lifespan and, possibly, failure in the nanomachines' functions and proper operations in the future.

Okay, thanks to everyone for signing-up. I'm going to be closing sign-ups soon, so if anyone has anything to change/add/etc, please do so promptly.

Just a note to Wondershot about your character, bear in mind that Reploids are not biological. They are synthetic. So, if your character is able to produce a biological substance internally, he presumably wouldn't be drawing from his own internal biological structure -- but perhaps generating such material could reduce his energy in some other way (ie: it takes a certain amount of processing power to create even simple biological material, so this may make him tired). I only mention that because there are some reasonably strong dividers between what is and isn't possible in the world of Maverick Hunters. So I'm really just trying to give you a way to explain what you've chosen, without actually having you change your choice.

I'll post a list of those who were successful very soon.

Edit: Please be aware that the names for certain things have changed as per the RPG's B-Spec nature. The changes are as follows:

Sygnosis 40 Virus is now known as X-Virus.

Sygnosis X is now known as X-Hunters.

Cyan is now known as Auricom.

These changes have been made to bring this RPG a little more in-line with the two older versions (for example, Maverick Hunters and X-Hunters will work together in some missions, potentially).

Here's goes:

Name: Sir Asim The 29th.

Call Sign: The Dreaming Peacock, called Dreamer for short.

Age: 29.

Gender: Male.

Appearance:

He is about 6ft5 in height, has a well-toned body, and is in top athletic form, and ability. His eyes are dreamy, and pitch black; they have a mysterious, enchanting charm over women. He also wears black leather gloves, and sometimes black shades. His skin was tanned by the desert sun, and his hair is originally darker, but it was bleached by the salt water of the seas, and oceans where he meditates under the crashing waves.

He also has a motorcycle (Above), in which he uses most of the time. It can go at 300 MPH, and it runs on a small non-radiant energy fusion core that lasts for at least a couple of hundred years, protected by an impenetrable two layered Titanium shield. He is perhaps the only human that can handle it, and use it properly.

Personality: A bit Playful at times, but always honorable, and valorous. Relaxed, speaks his mind, and seriously dislikes hypocrites. In a battle he strikes like the wildest of beasts, but with the strategy of a wise sage. He has a balanced personality. He can be prestigious, and formal, or simply practical when it is needed. Sometimes he can be cruel, and cold-blooded, but always for a good reason. Can sweep women off their feet with a glance, whether they were human or Reploids, and can be considered to be somewhat of a playboy. He is a proud man, a and worthy warrior, but can be seen as a bit distant, and arrogant hence the call sign Dreaming Peacock, although he really isn't.

Bio: He is the 29th son of the 30th generation of an ancient war clan that has participated in both the Maverick, and Protogen wars. Since the beginning they opposed the work of Dr. William Light, but the world turned a def ear to their calls, and so they based themselves in a secluded area far from Novus Concordia, and started to train their sons in battle from the moment they?re born. Stretching their abilities to the limits of human endurance, they taught them to use the full extent of human stamina, strength, and speed.

They did this because they knew that the invention of the Reploids would eventually lead to war, and mayhem. Finally war broke out, but the clan did not join forces, with the army nor the Hunters, instead they fought on their own, and defended what was theirs. The training they had endured proved to be unefficient for their strength did not match that of the Mavericks, and so they were almost wiped out, suffering from many life losses during the battles, and far from the global lights.

When Peace reigned they continued with even tougher, and more difficult training to increase their strength, but they failed again. When the second war was unleashed they were not ready, and they did not really care about the hunters, so they did not participate, but observed, and studied the weak points of the enemy. After that war was over they stayed in the darkness, and continued to develop ways for what was left of their warriors to be able to fight against Reploids, they tried every method of training possible with each generation that came to life, but some plague or disease struck them, and greatly reduced their numbers. It also took the life of their finest scientist, and set back their research.

The clan gathered what they found of the scientist's papers, completed the research, and learned to harness much of the hidden potential in the human mind, in the form of extreme concentration, and newly developed or discovered reflexes of the neurvous system. They came to the conclusion that the human mind is the greatest of all weapons against the Reploids, since it was its ideas in the first place that engineered the Reploids. The result was learning how to use the human body, and mind in every way, and with perfect harmony in battle. This enabled their warriors to see through any flaw that the enemy makes, and take full advantage of it. It greatly improved the functions of the neurvous system, enhancing their reflexes, and giving them acrobatic abilities, in addition to enhanced speed. They can now react with the most chaotic of battlefields, see through every detail they whish to focus on in it, and inexplicably feel their way to the right moves that they should make instantaneously.
Also due to their techniques their average life spans were slightly increased without the use of machines.

Now the X-virus, which affects Reploids, and causes them to attack humans, is spreading, so seeing that this would be an appropriate time to use their powers, and interfere, the clan sent one of their most praised warriors to take action, a certain Sir Asim, that has even surpassed his fellow clansmen, and is more than a match to any Reploid in strategy, and technique. He even devised his own weapons. The clan trained him in various forms, for example his training grounds were the merciless deserts, and his meditation areas the raging seas where he spent very long periods under the wildest of tsunamis, due to these, and other forms of exceptionally hard training, in which he endured, his senses, reflexes, and concentration were greatly sharpened, and polished. He was also educated in the ways of most of the world's civilizations, and languages. Although his physical strength cannot match that of a Reploid, he can enter states of extreme concentration, that increase the efficiency of any chosen sense of his five senses to an extreme limit. He studied Reploid structures, and knew them inside out, he also studied the general psychology of a Reploid, it's behavior patterns, and the complex A.I system that was used in their production. The secret areas that were used in his mind also enabled him to be in touch with magnetic fields wherever they're found. It also enables him to use a very complex, but instantaneous technique he developed to interpret the movement of the electrical pulses of the brain, whether it's synthetic or biotic into movements or thoughts. This gives him extreme tactical adavantage, and makes him always one step ahead of the enemy. His ability his forefathers had, but used it in a more primitive, and instinct based manner without even knowing of it.
Sometimes he feels that he can control these magnetic fiels, but he is still exploring, and studying this possibility. He's revised every ancient battle plan, and record available in the vast library in the castle he lived in to inspire his style of tactical battle.

Although the existence of the clan was forgotten by the world, they were always up to date with everything, from news to weaponry, and technology. They had established mansions in secret areas of the world, where their spies lurk, and collect information.

He was given the task of roaming the earth for an entire year as the final course of his training, fighting a massive number of targeted battles against exceptionally powrful infected Reploids to gain more battle experience, and he also investigated the origin of the new virus, but only found a few weak leads. Then he went to Novus Concordia, and offered his services to the government, but did not mention his clan. They welcomed him, and because of his unique mind abilities, and immunity to the X-virus because of him being a human they enlisted him as a member in the elite group of fighters called the X-hunters. He was the first of his clan to ever fight along the side of a Reploid. The clan's true purpose of sending him was to end the current threat while supervising the actions of the X-hunters, in case they get infected then Novus Concordia, and what was left of the human race would not stand a chance of surviving. If Sir Asim sees that the group are on the brinks of getting infected,or failing he would destroy them with the source of the virus even if it means the loss of his life in the process.

Affiliation: X-Hunters, but he could suddenly leave, and work on his own.

Weapons:

Primary Weapon:
Hyper Velocity Gun: A four-barreled revolver like blaster, each barrel is 15inches long, and all together the four muzzles form the shape of a square. It uses magnetic fields to fire highly concentrated blasts of pure energy, very accurate, and extremely powerful. Even with its large size Sir Asim is quite a stylish, and lethal trick shot, and quick draw when using it. He keeps it in a decorated holster strapped on his left thigh.

Secondary weapon:
White Nova : It is a retractable saber of pure energy with a long black polished hilt, and a white blade of extreme intensity, and radiating heat. It also has a black extension hilt, which greatly elongates the blade, and charges it with more radiating energy.A branching shape much similar to a bolt of lightning is etched on the first hilt in gleaming white, and it is complemented on the second hilt in the same colour. The original hilt is kept in a holster strapped to his right thigh, and the extension hilt is hidden in shoulder holster under his coat. He is quite a remarkable fencer with this weapon.

Well that's it, I've finally finished editing the character, so let me know what you think

Heh nice of you to sneak this on us, although I thought you were supposed to be doing a prequel to Personification rather than a redeux of The Third Succession. Anyway it?s great to finally get to sign up for a Maverick Hunters RPG, this series has done a lot for OB and the fact that it?s being done all Old School should hopefully bring back some Oldies from their hiding spots. Sorry about the length but when it comes to writing biographies I have a tendency to keep writing until I?ve reached the conclusion.

[Name]: Malcolm Kane

[Callsign]: Mirage

[Age]: 27 years of age

[Appearance]:

[Personality]: Mirage?s a hard person to figure out, unusually quiet he appears to be happy to live and work in almost complete silence. In the event that Kane actually does say something it usually has relevance, even if that relevance isn?t noticeable right away. When he does make small talk, and that?s more of an ?if? than a ?when? Kane actually has a very compassionate personality. Kindness and honesty are two of his most obvious traits, though again his lack of communication does tend to make it a little hard to see those areas of his personality, mostly when someone has earned his trust they?ll see it through gestures, rather than words. Kane sees himself as more of a soldier than a leader, uncomfortable with the mantle of being one, though when the time calls for it he is resolute, fair and willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

[Biography]: Mirage is the creation of one Nathan Soong, a gifted Robotics Engineer with more than a passion for productions involving robots. Soong would spend hours just watching old syndicated television shows or cartoons, looking for inspiration to make the next big break in terms of robotics. Two particular productions fixated him, the first was a television show featured an Android who struggled to become human, or at least to understand what it was to be human. One particular fascination he had with Data was the fact Nathan shared a very similar name with his creator, that being Dr. Noonian Soong. The other show to hold his attention was a cartoon from roughly the same period of time in the 1980s, the production dealt with the battle between two sets of giant transforming robots, one group fighting for good, the other fighting for evil. Soong became quite obsessed with the story that was The Transformers, his support lay squarely with the Autobots, and many of the characters intrigued him.

However Soong had other influences than in the realm of science fiction, Dr. William Light original creator of the reploid also ranked very high on his list of those who inspired him. Although Soong was gifted he was nowhere near as ingenious as Light had been when he conceived the idea of the reploid, all Soong hoped was that he could create a unit that Dr Light would approve of. Soong didn?t have any family, he had been an only child and had never married, his work had been all he lived for, in the hope he would make the world a slightly better place. He commenced work on creating Mirage in the middle of his life, aged roughly 60, he journals tell us that he hoped to finish the project by age 65. Because the usual method of creating a reploid was now reproduction Soong endeavoured to try and be a father to what would be his son, he knew the loneliness of growing up as an only child. He began work on the reploid from scratch, crafting his artificial structure first, laying the very foundations of a new life.

Six years later, and at the grand age of 67 Soong finished his work on Mirage and watched eagerly as his son took his first look at the world around him. Soong had built Malcolm in the same manner that present day reploids were born, he would have the ability to age and mature. Soong had put a lot of himself and his dreams into Malcolm, though neither would?ve quite imagined the chaos that would follow. Nathan had absolutely no idea of how to be a father, after all he?d never married and his parents were no longer around to teach him. On the other hand Malcolm had little understanding of the world and knew Nathan to be his only family. The two made a rather odd couple, a happy father and son although neither had any idea whether they were doing things right, at least in the first few months. Considering Nathan had been self-employed, or at least he had only ever worked on his own projects in his later life he was able to move his business back to his own birthplace in Ireland.

Ireland and Europe were far from Novus Concordia, though Europe had once been a considerable political and economic force it?s cities and towns were now far smaller and more styled in it?s ancient architecture. Malcolm grew up and enjoyed living in Ireland, something about the scenic beauty of the country left it a lasting impression of him. He would spend hours as a young boy roaming the rolling mountains and valleys, to him they were infinitely more preferable than busy cities. His father?s work was now mainly consultant-based, although Malcolm didn?t appear different to any other reploid, at least internally, his creation did generate some interest from robotics companies working in Europe. In his mid teenage years Malcolm spend much of his time studying life; medicine, neurology, biology, human physiology, xeno-biology, anything he could get his hands on he would read. Malcolm wanted to become a doctor or enter some profession that would allow him to help people. And although his father secretly hoped his son might follow in Nathan's footsteps he said nothing, above all else he wanted Malcolm to follow his own dreams.

When he was roughly 19 his father began work on a second unit, a sister for Malcolm. Although Malcolm felt that it?s creation was more out of loneliness by his father, as Malcolm had intended to leave home just before his father began construction. Working from the same parameters from which he created Malcolm his sister Fiona was created in a mere four months, as opposed to the six years it took to create Malcolm. Although Nathan had created Malcolm in the appearance of a baby, Nathan had created this new offspring in the appearance of a young woman, and in the end she looked only a few months younger than her elder brother. Malcolm decided that the ?birth? of a sister was a good time to leave home, although Nathan never said it, Malcolm knew that his father would have liked him to stay. He travelled back to Novus Concordia, deciding to enter university and become a fully-fledged physician. However while browsing different universities he was approached by a representative from the Defence Department and interviewed as to whether or not he?d like to join the Defence Forces as an M.D.

Malcolm had never been comfortable with violence, however he knew that the military provided him with ways to challenge himself that would not be available to him simply working in a hospital, he agreed and signed up. Malcolm found that although he had no affinity for violence he was well able to perform in combat, his body being constructed of a more durable alloy than most reploids. Although Malcolm did possess these skills he had no interest in putting them to use against another being, he was perfectly content to be a doctor and deal with the duties which that role put forth. Malcolm?s unit was mainly composed reploids as they had far faster responses and reflexes than humans, however there was one human in his unit with which Malcolm became associated with, perhaps his first true friend. Gavin Ambrose had become a surgeon for many of the same reasons that Malcolm, both shared an enjoyment of nature as well as a taste for silence when the time called for it. Gavin?s reflexes and response times were very high for a human, his speed and ability often raised the question as to whether or not he had cybernetic implants.

However when Malcolm received word that his father was dead, and that his sister was in custody for the murder he was forced to take leave to return home and find out exactly what had transpired. He learned that his sister had killed his father in cold blood for apparently no reason, this left Malcolm in a complete state of shock. Fiona refused to co-operate with police and had merely instructed for them to send for her brother, only then would she divulge her reasons for killing her father. When Malcolm faced his sister he was filled with anguish, here was someone whom he had helped bring into the world that would kill her own father so easily, and all without reason. Fiona told him that humans were weak and would eventually destroy themselves, and that reploids, Malcolm?s real family would be the only survivors. Malcolm could only disagree with her, he told her than humans were good and honest and that she had committed a grievous crime in killing a man who represented many of humanities finest qualities. His sister was momentarily unabashed by this and merely called her brother foolish, however a darker side to her personality emerged as she broke free from her restraints and attacked several human police officers. Malcolm could only act, and pulled his sister down before activating her termination code, a safeguard that he and Nathan had build into her, if the unlikely event that something would go wrong.

Malcolm later learned that Fiona had been a victim of the X Virus, the only reported case in Europe at that time. Something inside him told Malcolm that his father had been targeted, and that his family had been used. Malcolm requested a transfer from his current assignment to the new unit X Hunters, and although his superiors were slightly wary about his reasons for asking for the transfer, his field abilities proved to be the decider in his favour. His father?s death and his sister?s murder (he refers to her X Virus infection as being her murder) has left Malcolm even more quiet than he was before, although behind his quiet façade is a hurt young man with no family left.

[Affiliation]: X Hunters

[Primary Weapon]: Highly Modified H.T.L. Unit. A weapon who?s design was conceived in the late 20th century the H.T.L. [Hyper Titanium Launcher] or ?Rail Gun? as it was more commonly known is capable of firing titanium rounds at almost the speed of light. The technology itself was only ever experimental, blasters and other units that used pure energy for ammunition generated more interest and as such were given funding for their creation. Malcolm however was intrigued by the technology and using modern technology he managed to create not only a working model of the weapon but one who?s usefulness actually ranked along side that of busters and blasters. The unit itself is capable of firing several different types of round, depending on the requirements of the situation. The weapon is bordering on fully automatic and is capable of firing up to 200 rounds a minute, unlike its predecessor units this one has practically no kickback force when fired.

[Secondary Weapon]: Retractable Beam Sabre [Blue] (Yes I admit it, it?s the SW nutter in me that has to have this)

[Defensive Capability]: Internal Cloaking Device, as one would guess this is where Mirage gets his name. One of his more unique features this allows Mirage to render himself invisible to the eye using the stealth generator in his body. This invisibility however goes beyond cloaking from the normal eye but cloaks him throughout the light spectrum, however the drain on his internal power systems is quite large meaning Mirage can only use it for a number of minutes at a time.

Okay, here we go. I'm going to list those who did and didn't get in. For those that didn't, I'll just briefly explain why. Also, I thought I'd add an "in question" bit, for people who may still get in if they change something in their sign-up that I'm a bit concerned about. So if you're in that category, it's your choice whether you make a change or choose not to. ^_^

Accepted:

Legacy [Ronin]

Ohkami [Sakura]

Alan [Jester]

Zidargh [Ranger]

Wondershot [Caduceo]

Kane [Mirage]

In Question:

Neuvoxetere [Zero]: The concern I had here was regarding the AVC transformation. Transformations like this really don't exist in the current Maverick Hunters world. So that would have to be eliminated and replaced with something else. Also, it might be a good idea to ensure that the Ghost ability isn't too invincible (in terms of destroying almost anything). If these things can be altered and corrected, then I'll probably accept your sign-up.

Asim [Dreamer]: I generally like your sign-up, but I have a couple of qualms. First and foremost, human beings are physically inferior to Reploids, regardless of training. They can definitely posess better tactical knowledge or something, but by design (by nature of their human bodies), they are physically inferior. It is unlikely that a human being would have fought against Mavericks or the Protogen, given that the world's human military force itself was pretty impotent in terms of facing that force. Thus the whole reason for the Maverick Hunters to exist.

So, I like having the idea of humans in X-Hunters, but...in all honesty, there are some serious factual issues that your post kinda exaggerates (the primary one being human strength, but also the whole question why this guy would join a force that involves Reploids, if his entire family has not liked them from day one). So yeah. If those bits can be replaced by something a bit more in-line with my thoughts here, that'd be cool. Up to you though.

Not-So-Accepted:

Sheikahmon [Snowflake]: I kinda liked your sign-up, and maybe it would work really well with another RPG. But it's a bit too outlandish for Maverick Hunters I think. It sounds like your character belongs in an asylum rather than a para-military organization (I don't mean that as an insult, I think your character would be ideal for another type of RPG -- just not this one. ~_^)

Thanks again to everyone for signing-up, I really really appreciate your effort. I welcome people to make changes to their sign-ups if they are in the in question list. Sheikahmon, you can submit an entirely new sign-up if you want, but that's up to you. I'll only keep this open for a couple more days though, so be on your toes. ~_^

Name: Joshua

Callsign: Red Baron

Age: 12 years since activation

Appearance:

Personality: Josh is earnest, and retains, even now, a form of social disorder. He is unfailingly honest, and has an inability to see past fallacies. He isn't incredibly comfortable in social situations, and would rather act as a lone wolf, or in partnership with another Reploid. Humans personalities tend to agitate him, full as they are of lies and half-truths. Josh is solid and dependable, but can often be hard to adjust to in terms of communicating effectively.

Biography: Red Baron first appeared in UNAF [United Nations Air Force] at a recruitment day. He flew a perfect 412 mark on the simulator, and was promptly taken as a protege by renowned fighter pilot Yusef Haddad. The usefulness of a fighter pilot in these times has been doubted, but in addition to his pilot training, Josh has also undergone extensive operative training [comparable to SWAT levels, or USMC levels]. Upon his graduation from the UNAF academy, he was sought out by X-Hunters. Joshua has previously been involved in the running of military organisations. He was involved heavily in the security surrounding Stanford 009, and suppressed the information available to the media in it's demise. Nothing else is known about his origins.

Primary Weapon: Conventional appearance sub-machine gun, that uses liquid-nitrogen filled capsules for bullets.

Secondary Weapon: Blowtorch.

Defensive Capability: Joshua has a cloaking device, but it is only effective when he is absolutely still, and has no shielding capabilities. However, he also has an amazing turn of speed, which he can use to outrun pursuers.

Name: Shaun

Callsign: Spyder

Age: 18

Appearance: Black, short spiked hair, black top with a number 3 emblazoned on it, and ripped jeans. (pic shortly)

Biography: Shaun, or Spyder as it were, was one of those faithful models, a great service to his community, and a dear friend to those whom he served in his daily life. Spyder wasn't of the dissenting type.

That all changed on December 7th 2507, Spyder was overcome with a fierce rage after waking form a terrible dream. The rage was all-encompassing and very powerful. Spyder, no longer able to control his rage, lashed out at members of his family, killing them, and also at those whom he served.

This had a profound effect on Spyder, after all, what made him do such a horrible act? Spyder, concerned for the safety of those remaining in his family, took flight out of the center of Novus Concordia, and planned to live a life in the shadows, of the far reaches, where he could hurt no one.

Though, after a while, spyder came right. He discovered that a mysterious virus had overtaken him. After all, those who did not know of this virus were only the kind found living under rocks.

He also knew that there was no such cure for this disease, so how did he survive it? Spyder came to the conclusion that the virus had only partially entered his system, and while controlling him, had no time to fully incubate and download. He was one of those lucky ones.

About the same time, he had heard of the X-Hunters, a squadron of Reploids determined to see an end to this evil. This interested Spyder greatly. He had no qualms about bringin the "spyder brand" brand of justice to these anonymous jerks who had taken his livelihood away from him.

With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Spyder ventured out to seek the X-Hunters, to join the cause, and bring about an end to this menace.

Affiliation: X-Hunters

Primary Weapon: modifiedlaser gun. Finding a gun was pretty interesting, a valuable find. But finding it didn't work? Now that was a pain in the ***! thus, the modifications came about. About the only physical change is the colour of the laser, which went from blue to green. As much as Spyder thinks that it has improved accuracy, it's all psychological. He still frequently misses targets and is "in training" as it were.

Secodnary weapon: Since Spyder has no other weapon as of now, his matrial arts training is more or less the equivalent.

Defense Mechanism: Spyder has a force field, that he activates with a password. that he is able to place on himself in mere seconds. This force field can deflect almost anything, yet it does take considerable damage form the heavier blows. Still, it has come in handy in so many of those desperate situations, that he would never be able to part with it.

Name: Elizabeth ?Beth? Nesbitt

Callsign: Golden Lion

Age: 22

Appearance: Beth

Personality: Beth is one who believes in the tactics of retreat rather than arrogant attacks. She sticks to her claim that retreat is nothing to be ashamed of and is only a method of self-preservation. Many think that this is merely because she is afraid of fighting, however, Beth is the opposite. She has a tactical way of thinking and always looks before she leaps, hesitation may be a bad thing for her when in a heated battle, but she always pulls through. She lacks in confidence and is somewhat of a recluse, however she will trust those who deserve it and remains loyal to her friends.

Biography: Beth was brought into a single parent family, her father having left to join the army, never returning to his wife. Beth?s mother was a nurse and a good one at that, though she still lacked the qualifications to become a doctor at one of the main hospitals in Novus Concordia. She always wanted her child to grow to become what she was, helping others to get through illness and war, she never could have imagined that Beth would become a Free Lance Hunter.

Beth left home at the age of 19 and chose to train by herself, stories of the old wars fresh in her mind from studying. The old Library in one of Novus Concordia?s suburbs was her favourite visit; dusty books filled with information on the legendary Maverick Hunters enchanted the young Reploid and she longed to be like them. After honing her skills to a satisfactory level, or so she thought, Beth applied for a position as an X-Hunter, but because of both her age and certain imperfections, she was refused and told to become more of a skilled fighter.

Now she prefers to stay Free-Lance, though she is at the beck and call of the X-Hunters, if they ever do need any help, she will try her best to assist. Beth remains loyal to herself, and only trusts those who earn it, she has many friends and few enemies, and as of yet she has not experienced a true battle.

Biography:
Edric was "born" into a good family, his father was a deffence pilot in the military and his mother was a nurse at the local hospital. It was there that he got the nick name Ace from his fathers wing man.
Growing up on and around the Airforce Base Edric found himself facinated with two things, Jet fighters and the Maverick Hunters, both of which he found to be the elite fighters of land and air.

Edric's life was normal untill a few months after his 17th birth day, when his father and mother were both killed by a Reploid infected with the X-Virus. Edric had been sitting in his room, reading, when a sudden yell came from down staires. Edric ran to the stairs to see his mother lieing on the floor dead, and his father fighting a strange man. The man killed his father and was ready to kill him as well. Edric escaped by jumping from his bedroom window and running to the nearby Airforce Base.

The next morning his fathers squadron arrived in there briffing room to find Edric in the corner. He told them what had happened. A few days later they buried both in the local churches cemetary.

Edric joined the Airforce to become a Deffence Pilot, in honor of his father. But a Special Ops Recruter noticed him and he was transfered to a special unit where he trained for covert ops and counter terorists missions. He was trained to be placed into a special anti terorist divistion that worked with MHHQ as a special force for assaults against human terrorest groups. After twelve successfull missions Edric was contacted about a position in the X-Hunters. After finding out that the Reploid that killed his parients was infected with the X virus, and that the X-hunters worked to distroy such Reploids as well as find out the cause of the virus, Edric signed on.
