The sixth Harry Potter book is called Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and it's rumored to come out next summer. Some bookstore lines have even gotten memos saying they should expect a summer arrival, so I hope it does come out next year.

The Half-Blood Prince, huh? I figure that the last two books are going to be pretty freaking gruesome, considering the level transcended with the fifth one. It makes one speculate, you know? I can't wait to see how the series is concluded. I only hope that Fred and George made appearances still. What will the last two years of Hogwarts be without them? ;_;

Actually, from what I understand, the bookstores have gotten memos saying that they should expect a release date in January -- January being the time when they release the exact date of when the books will go on sale. This is in line with the other books, and the release date was in January, and the books, following that release date, came out in June. Since then, other bookstores have also been told to expect a release date in January with a view to a June release, heh. Odd what rabid fans can detect when they put their minds to it, isn't it?

As well as that, you should check out JK Rowling's site. She updates semi-regularly, and so far she's given out the title of the next book, an short excerpt from the book, and the chapter titles.

The passage from the new book we were given:

He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp.

Cool, hmm? But yeah, the site is a fantastic place to go if you're looking for more information on the upcoming books and JK Rowling and what's happening with the upcoming books. It's a great site.

*grins* Isn't this going to be fun? I can't wait for the next book, hee!

Yeah, how could J. K. possibly live with herself if she didn't have the Weasly twins? they're obviously the backbone of the entire story. Ok... slight exageration...
Anyway, it seems like we've all waited far too long for the sixth book. As if anticipation has distorted time itself... maybe not. It's odd how each Harry Potter book gets more serious. As if, as the characters get older, the plot becomes more mature. Funny how the first was so light hearted, and now we're seeing the end of the wizarding world as we know it.
Go kick some ass Harry.

Rabid fans indeed.

Obviously some huge excitement going on about book 6, although I think some of the hype has died, it's still hugely popular. I can't wait for the next installment myself, it's a fantastic and amazing world that Rowling has created.

Random note: Rowling was once a poor single-mom, and the Harry Potter series was mostly bedtime stories for her daughter. A friend told her they were very good, and suggested she write them down and try to get them published. The very first time any of it was written down was on a napkin.

I would like to see the entire series written entirely on napkins. That'd be fantastic.
2004!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

umm...please say it ain't so, I'd have to hurt myself if it was out for this long and I never yet picked it up.
It was a typo, she meant 2005. It's good stuff, I'm looking forward to it, heh. Who would have thought, only one year since the fifth book?
Well, in the beginning she did expect the rate to be one book a year.
Wow. If Rowling goes at that rate she'll finish before I graduate. Some friends and I were hypthosizing over who the Half Blood Prince is. I think it's someone Harry knows and who will finally stand up for the mud bloods and create a revolution within the world of witches and wizards. Or some crap like that. I read through Order of the Pheoniox so fast I think I missed some things. I need to re-read before this next book comes out or I'm going to be outta luck.
