This thread is about your Favourite RPG Main character. Don't be shy with your responses, they can be anyone from Aribeth (Most major NPC in Neverwinter Nights),Squall or Tir Mc'Dhol to Ryudo, JC Denton ( Deus Ex is a FPS/RPG) or even Dink Smallwood.
Who is your favourite choice for this topic? None is judged for their choice.

My nomination is Dink Smallwood from the game Dink Smallwood which is Shareware. I chose him because of his wicked sense of humour ( I don't know which is funnier Dink or the actual game. Very Funny). His best quote in the game ( My favourite ever in fact from a game character) is when he punches this girl-that-he-likes bed and says " Better Get ready for Me Bed". favourite video game quote ever.

My favorite RPG character would be Cliff Fittir, from SOTET (Star Ocean: Till the End of Time) :D I think he is cool, because he is a Klausian, which is a very strong and fast race of people in the game. He has kinda of an immunity to bullets too, that would be awesome to have

Whaaaa? No Chrono from Chrono Trigger?! What is this blasphemy?! That is one of my favorite characters from any RPG I have ever played. I was also a fan of the main character (the young kid - excuse me for forgetting his name) from Suikoden III.

I am not putting any answer on your poll. . sorry, you hurt my feelings by not putting Chrono!

(Ya, I could have put None of the Above, but didn't really care, it didn't look like the 'right' answer to put)

To be perfectly honest, I found myself not really caring for Crono at all when I played Chrono Trigger. I don't think that he was expressive enough to be a really good silent character. He was just some random dude who was helping to save the world. I liked Magus, Lucca and Robo a lot more, really.

EDIT: Off this list, I'd go Dagger/Zidane, because I'm more partial to FFIX than the other games on that list. Overall, though, at the risk of being called a biased Nintendo fanboy, I've always loved Bowser in Nintendo's RPGs. He's not nearly as deep or as thoughtful as many RPG characters, but he's so hilarious and entertaining. And, frankly, I enjoy that a lot more than some depressed, psychologically traumatized pretty boy, or whatever. Bowser is funny, he entertains, and I love him for that.

Well, I had to vote "None of the Above" bacause I really loved the relationship between Luna and Alex in Lunar: Silver Star Story for Sega CD.

I've been playing RPG's for quite a while and I base my descition in the fact that for me, the best RPG's are the ones that leave an impression on you that lasts even when new and improved RPG's arrive. I can't get out of my head the scene where
Alex and Luna are at the port and they say goodbye to each other, nor when they get together again at the end of the game
.

Sure, there are some great RPG's in this list, but I had to be honest and mention the one I find has the best Main Character/Couple in an RPG.

My favorite charachter from any RPG.... I can't decide. I really liked Auron from Final Fantasy 10. He had that whole cool attitude.

Oh! I know! I like Isaac, Ivan, Garet, and whats her name! Never heard of them? Those are the four main charachters from Golden Sun! Golden Sun is probably the best RPG ive ever beaten. (the only one Ive ever beaten). Sure there wasn't much charachter development, but those little dudes rocked. Garet being the talkative one with all the questions. Ivan was the little nice guy. Isaac was so clueless. And whats here name was a needed deviation from the game chick steriotype. Great charachters. Then there was Saturos and minardi, who were like the evil version of Teem Rocket. (no teem rocket is not evil.)

I have TWO favorite characters, as both are freakishly accurate in representing me as a whole: Rikku, from FFX/X-2 and Sheena, from Tales of Symphonia.

I have Rikku's energy level and retardedness, and I can get annoying (usually when I'm happy). Although she's three times as outgoing and cheerleader-y than I am, we're both kids at heart, and love hopping around and acting kiddy.

Sheena, on the other hand, is a bit reclusive/elusive. We're both somewhat too proud to seek help, but when we do we feel guilty about it. Somewhat hard shell and soft center.. :(

And both my favorite characters have neat outfits, lol. ...Is it me or are the characters I grow fond of in RPGs overlooked assassins and thieves? :p

Ah what the hell...let me partake in this.

My favorite RPG character (We are talking "pre-set" character's right? Because I happen to like several of my custom characters in a few games! :D) would have to be 'Hero' from Suikoden II. Note, for those of you who didn't play Suikoden II, 'Hero' was character that you named, nothing else, kinda like all the FF games.

'Hero' was a dynamic character on many levels. For one, he was very emotionally stressed through-out every portion of the game, and he shows it. By first being severely scared in the beginning (
Loses his best friend, finds out a foreign army is looking for him, being taken captive from a bunch of mercenaries
), to having to take on a major respondsibility (
Being elected leader of the Revolutionary Army, building a mighty castle, defending the surrounding lands, and taking on the various rival armies around him
), to finally facing his ultmate destiny in the very end (
Having to face, and invade the land of Highland aka Arch-Nemesis and deciding on what to do about his lost best friend, who he found out was leading the Highland army all along
).

Like wise, 'Hero' goes through alot of physical pain fulfilling his destiny. He is constantly thrown into battle against relentless invading armies thus recieving all sorts of physical injuries in the process, to being bit by vampires, to fighting giant dragons, and becoming possessed by demons...he went through it all.

Did I mention he was very, very young at the time? I forget the exact age, but definitely in his teenage years.

Truly a character you feel emotion for, I felt bad when he suffered and (Yeah I admit it...what! ^_~) cheered when he triumphed.

You know, it's funny when it comes to RPG characters, because most of the time you're faced with a character who is usually cold, angst-like, and somewhat self-centred, yet, this is the common stereotype that most players tend to dislike as it's too "cliched".

To be honest, I don't care for this, because there are two RPG main characters whose attitudes and dialogue in general made me want to vomit, and they were those of Marche and Newt from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Think about it, they're terrible, and further more, they seem to be the complete opposite of the type of characters who I mentioned above. I don't know if this is how players would like future characters in games to be like, because as I said, RPG main characters are generally stereotyped as cold bastards, and is what people seem to hate.

For me, I think a character who suits Zidane's personality from FFIX is a little more settling than the usual kind of guy. Even though I never actually liked FFIX, Zidane made me feel more welcome to the game and gave it a different feel for me. He wasn't at all dark and secretive, and neither was he too friendly and mercy-driven like Marche, and he'd crack in the funny joke that'd just about make you chuckle every now and then. Though, it was a joint effort, as half the things Zidane said almost always involved Steiner as the laughing stock, and it was his reactions that made the situations funny.

So, I think I'd vote for Zidane as it stands, though there are other possibilities, like for example I've never played Suikoden before, so I've no idea about characters in that game, but yeah, Zidane.

I played Xenogears and it's quite a cool and unique game. I did love Fei's character and how his multiple personalities/incarnations/personas, whatever it is, evolved. He's a little angsty but a reachable, down to earth, and sometimes even funny, character. Reallly lovable.

Hero from Suikoden II isn't very appealing to me. At such a young age, he went through all those physical and emotional pain and he was just quiet all about it, following and obeying what other and older people said. And though he's the leader of the said army, he didn't really do much for it. His men/supporters did a lot more and it was like he was just there so the army can say they have a leader.

I haven't played FFIX yet but I read about it a lot and I could say Zidane's character is also quite interesting. I think he's not much of a jerk like Squall. A cheery guy. Cheery, yeah. >.>
