Brasil
The title of this thread is fairly self-explanatory, but who cares, I'll elaborate a bit. Comedy Central is running their Best of 2004 marathon this weekend--rather, was, as it's roughly 2:40 pm on Sunday afternoon. But, it gave me a chance to actually think about how much Comedy Central has these days. I think it's safe to say that their entire line-up (hell, and the station itself) owes itself to South Park. I think that without South Park, Comedy Central would have flopped most heinously. With South Park's success, however, I feel that Comedy Central's programming is something of an anomaly. There's The Daily Show, Drawn Together, The Graham Norton Effect (which is a total riot, I highly recommend it), Crossballs, Primetime Glick, Reno 911, That's My Bush!...the list goes on and on. I swear, Comedy Central has struck line-up gold. What do you all think? What are some of your favorite shows on there? What do you think of Comedy Central? Dagger
The Daily Show is the only non-animated television program I watch with any regularity, so I guess that's indicative of... well, something. It actually makes me laugh, which is more than I can say for most sitcoms and so forth. Their election coverage, if obviously slanted, was priceless--and I loved reading about the furor that ensued when Jon Stewart took on Crossfire's hosts. ~Dagger~
Sol-Blade
I've seen some of the things they do on the Graham Norton Effect, and needless to say that...was funny stuff. My personal favorite quote, "Oh man, our bleep machine is going to run out of batteries tonight!" :D Reno 911 is a very, VERY funny show. I especially love the episode where Dangle and Junior are having a standoff with the old woman throwing the flower pots down at them. Ah yes, Dangle decides to scare her away and throws a brick. She then falls off the roof, to which Dangle replies, "Go, GO man! We were never here!" Drawn Together is another great show, just because it really does poke at alot of things on many different levels. The most obvious, is making fun of reality shows, to which they pull off their small parodies really well. I loved the one with the food competition. Captain Hero's team had to find a cure for polio, and Foxie's team had to successfully place an egg in a bucket...all within the same time-limit. Oh the humanity!!! It was great when Foxie's team finally won, a big box labeled food hit the ground next to him, and a big box labeled Humilation hit Captain Hero in the back of the head. Primetime Glick...didn't really click with me. The show was funny, at times. But was mostly a head-scratcher. The whole obese/fat man can't get around eventually got old. I mean, seeing Martin Short fall out of a chair once, funny. Seeing him fall out of a chair again, and again...shame on me. But I have to add, that my all time favorite show on there would have to be The Daily Show: With Jon Stewart because Jon is just 100% smartass, I love it. Some of their "segments" are by far, the funniest things I've ever seen. Stephen Colbert's (That last name might be mispelled) This Week in God makes me fall out of my chair when I see it. "Show me the salvation!", was priceless. But really, Jon does make some actual good points on his show. Obviously, he makes sarcastic jokes about them, but some valid point's while he is at it. He deserves another Emmy, er I meant another Emmy Nomination. What was I thinking? lol
Manic Webb
There was a time when I couldn't turn the channel away from Comedy Central. I expect that point in my life to end eventually. I have to agree with what everyone has said so far. I can't miss an episode of The Daily Show, Drawn Together is an onslaught of parodies, and Dave Chappelle is rich, b***h! And really, the network does owe a lot to South Park. Not only did its ratings pull the network out of the toilet, but it seriously pushed the envelope. Thanks to South Park, shows like Drawn Together can get away with some of the incredibly raunchy and crude material they show (ie. the entire episode about Clara's Octopussoir). Hell Raizer
Chappelles(sp?) Show. Oh My God its funny, epecially season 2. To me, the funniest skits are the most underrated ones: The R. Kelly "Pee on You" music video and the one where the muppet rip-offs were teaching kids about safe sex
James P. Galvatron
That episode was Rich Raizer its a Neheh Day that was so funny. I love South Park it has my favorite qoute "Can I Still Kill Kyle". I love last weeks episode with the psychic Detectives and Drawn Together is just hilarious I love the episode when they found out Xander was gay. I also love the Daily Show and Reno 911 both good shows I love Comedy Central I hope they keep dishing out the Funny Especially The World Stands Up seeing Hilarious Comedians from other countries and their specials where they give certain comedians a 30 or 1 hour show. WW2
Comedy Central does have a pretty good line up right now, even though they stopped making The Upright Citizen's Brigade. I have to say that the best show they've got goin' for them now is Chappelle's Show. I really liked this past season with the Lil' John and Rick James sketches, and the episode with Wayne Brady was hillarious. I can't wait for them to release season 2 on dvd. As for season 3, I just found out its coming in Feburary, but I don't remember the exact date.
