Ok, I should've put this up before Pearl/Diamond but whatever. :p Anywho, I've decided to clear up the deal with Emerald Version for the sake of the uninformed. ^_~*

Release date: April 2005.

Now, there has been an unofficial bootleg versions of Blue/Red/Yellow under the title 'Emerald version' for the Game Boy (as Des pointed out in the Diamond/Pearl sister thread), but nothing more. Just came...and went.

And now, here's the real deal: like Yellow is to Red and Blue versions, Emerald is to Sapphire and Ruby versions. Rayquaza is the "mascot" of this one. Right, I can hear a lot of you moaning "Oh, good God above, not another one." Well, what about Yellow and Crystal versions? I didn't quite hear much complaining about those two, plus they were good anyway. XD But then again, I'm not sure if I'm dealing with the majority or minority lol. I know I'm gonna get it, but mostly because I'm a fan of the series. :whoops:

Ok, now for the surloin steak, the official game, screens, art, and other side dishes. X3

Here's what I've picked up so far.

I personally think the color coordination pf the characters' outfits are a bit off-putting: green, red, black and white?! o__0 Yeeck. But the main characters' outfits look pretty snazzy though, especially the boy's pants/leggings. I like the boy's artwork altogether--he doesn't look like some stunted middle-aged man, lol. He actually looks like a preteen. But the girl, c'mon. Her torso's smaller than her head! But then again, that's just the style I guess. X3

Apparantly, it looks like Kyogre and Groudon are gonna literally duke it out in this one. And according to the info on the page, there's gonna be new areas. I certainly hope it isn't a bunch of remote, boring-a** islands. Seriously. After
FireRed/LeafGreen
and the Windwaker, I'm getting sick of them! >_<;

Ok, now for IGN-ness. :p

Whoohoo, Pokemon animations are included, similar to Crystal version. I've checked Nintendo.com for anything more, but nothing's really there except the release date. x_X

This definitely sounds interesting. It's going to be released in English right? Thanks for clarifying for the uninformed such as myself ^_^

I think this one, from the way it looks is going to be an improvement since unlike the yellow/crystal it integrates the story. Rather than rehashing or in fact, duplicating the original storyline. Besides, what pokemon trainer in their right mind would want to miss seeing the almighty Kyogre and Groudon have a go at each other?

Even though I plan on buying it, I couldn't resist and nabbed the ROM for it, just for the hell of it. :p So far when you first enter you bedroom, you have an orange GCN instead of blue. And the Pokemon movers downstairs are Vigoroth instead of Machoke. I haven't started the game as a boy yet, because I think the color of the bedroom rug/desk chair/clock changes depending on the gender you picked, because mine're all purple. I dunno if it even holds true for Sa/Ru.

I love both Groudon and Kyogre, so I'm not really siding, lol. I don't think one or the other'll win. I'm sure Rayquaza's gonna have a say in the storyline this time. Kinda neat though, because Crystal was about the three legendary dogs, and now Emerald's about that psycho-dragon that has been sleeping above the clouds for only God knows how long. :whoops:

Oh, and the items and whatnot have pictures just like in FireRed and LeafGreen, which I think is cool. I've always wanted to know what the Acro and Mach Bikes looked like. :p

And in Litteroot Town, there's a girl guarding the exit to Route 101 and the boy's inside your rival's house. o_0

The sign that appears on your screen when you enter an area is all shiny and wooden-like, which is pretty cute. ^_^

hmm.. you're making the game quite alluring.

However even if Raquaza has a say about these two fighting, he'll probably plop down onto the screen and tell them to knock it off. Although I just and an interesting thought and I think it'd be cool if you got to direct Rayquaza to battle the other two in order to stop the fighting.

I'll have to put the game in second place on my list of wants, I can't possibly put off buying an ipod for the sake of pokemon games again ^^"

Interesting, most interesting.

Well as I own and have beaten Sapphire a number of times I don?t think I?ll bother with this game, although I do find the storyline to it to be slightly intriguing. Honestly once you?ve played one Pokémon game on the GB series you?ve played them all, there hasn?t been any serious improvement since Gold and Silver, and even then Nintendo removed a lot of what was cool about them for Ruby and Sapphire. Honestly I?d be more likely to check out Pearl and Diamond when they come out, although going for a trip down nostalgia road with Fire Red and Leaf Green might be one the cards. Overall though since I?ve played Sapphire I don?t think there?s really any point in getting Emerald because beyond a few changes they really are the same game.

I don't think there's was ever any real reason to buy Yellow/Crystal/Emerald, unless you missed the first two versions in the series or you're completely obsessed and have money to spare. Or, in other words, if you're the type that buys both initial versions in a set.

Though I think there was more reason to get Yellow than any of the others. (No, I'm not biased just because I own Yellow, so hear me out, heh.) The reason being, you got Pikachu as your starter Pokémon, but then you also got all three of the normal starters later in the game. Being able to field Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise all in the same fight was fun. Plus, Pikachu was made stronger, so it's actually a kick butt electric type in Yellow. By the time I got to the Elite Four, my Pikachu's Thunder attack could KO Lance's Gyarados in a single hit, as well as most of Loreli's water type Pokémon.

I usually just buy two per series: I have Blue and Yellow, Gold and Crystal, and Sapphire--and I will buy Emerald when it comes out. (I also have FireRed.) Besides, I usually buy more Game Boy games than console ones because they're cheaper and I love the simple graphics anyway.

Whaaat? Pikachu sucked! lol I couldn't even evolve the little crap! I just stuffed him in the PC and just got the three starters! Well, three others, too, Nidoking being a personal fave. And yeah, Gyarados is pretty bad against any Electric attack, lol. XD

Guest Crimson Spider
First thing I thought when I saw this topic: "Oh please don't slaughter the metagame any more than FR/LG did."

I'm gonna need a little more persuasion before I'll go out and pick up this title. I've heard that they are going to edit the storyline, but I hope it isn't going to be like the rest of the GBA games with an extra part or two added on. That was one the parts of Colosseum that I liked.

What I am eager to see is the extra moves that they are going to teach every other pokemon that they aren't going to learn in any other version. FR/LG made Sword dance avaliabe to pratically every pokemon out there, changing the metagame into a "who dances up first" thing. There might be something of a saving grace that could possibly balance out what I find very uncomfortable in the high-leagues as strategies. But... most likely not. The only versions I've seen that has givin the game any sort of benifical strategies from the previous releases are G/S.

I don't know if I'm interested in this one or not.

I hope that there's more room to roam in this one; it seems that in every new game that at least one part of the world is cut off. I want to visit all three (there are three, right?) parts.

I'd also like to see the storyline changed, or maybe even a job you can have after you beat the Elite Four (i.e. Elite Four member --- you get to fight other trainers who've made it, Gym Leader, etc.).

But I do hope that this is one of the last games; Pokèmon is sort of getting redundant.

Emerald = Must buy for breeders and competitive battlers in the real world.

In emerald if a pokemon has the ability "Magma armor" or.. I forgot the othre ability if on your team and you have an egg, the egg will hatch 2x as fast.

Competitive Battlers, Typhlosion HAVE THUNDER PUNCH AGAIN!!!! Since there is pokemon move tutors for all the elemental punches.

Also pikachu can finally learn volt tackle legally,
Steven is no longer the elite 4 champ, it's wallace now :)
, the elite 4 and gym leaders have new pokemon and 1 new gym leader :). And also, if you're caught in between 2 trainers, you don't fight them seperately, you fight them at the same time :).

http://www.serebii.net/emerald/ <--- my source for pokmon information. There is a Diamond/Peal section there but the only thing worthwhile knowing in there is that Snorlax gets a new pre-evolution called MunchLax. But I call him Gonbe since MunchLax sounds stupid.

Yeah, I want my Electabuzz to learn both Ice Punch and Cross Chop lol. I had one that had those in Crystal version and he pwned like nobody's business. :p Then I forgot to trade it back to Blue when I saved over my Crystal file. >_<;;
Also pikachu can finally learn volt tackle legally...[/color']
Legally...lol, y'make it sound like it's against the law or something (although I do know what you mean). XD

I heard that the only way to get Volt Tackle is to hatch a Pichu while the mother Pikachu/Raichu is holding a Light Ball...and I think the father also has to be a Pikachu/Raichu, but I'm unsure. <:-/

I hope the Elite 4
grows stronger second time through like in Fire/Leaf.
I found that as a good way to train; I just absolutely cannot stand training through Wild Pokemon, even if it's for EV training. >_<;
