MetallicMink
This has to be one of my all-time favorite movies. I love the plot, characters, music, everything! I know many who think it is just plain weird, but I just can't get enough of it! Just for the record, I was wondering if there were any more TNBC fans in the wonderful world of Otakudom, or am I alone? Also, I would like to know what appeals to you in the movie, whatever it may be. Jack Skellington Forever!
Dragon Warrior
I, for one, was freaked by that scarecrow at the beginning when I was kid. Meh, it's not scary now. If you have any punk/gothic friends around, they usually enjoy TNBC. I've popped into the store Hot Topic and there's endless amounts of merchandise from that movie. It's because Tim Burton's stuff is gothic, dark, and weird--which in our minds is cool! I think the designs are quite intriguing and I find Tim Burton's work fascinating. But the Boogieman is the best part ever just because of the way Tim depicted him. He's a creature made of bugs and stuff sewn up with fabric. And he can be seen in the moon. Now that's cool. The movie gets me because it shows an artistic view of the holidays, like how the forest has doors in them to each specific celebration. I'd say that one cliff-thing that unravels has got to be quite the odd, but strangely beautiful presentation. EDIT: I'm actually writing a story inspired by Tim Burton's work. Fun fun. Moi
I am a big fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas. It is a great movie, and like you said, it has a great cast of characters, great plot, and great music. I love all of these things, but the storyline really hooks me. I love how they kidnap Santy Claus and steal Christmas, it's fantastic. The Boogie Man is great, but Jack is my all time favorite character in this movie. I love this movie, and I would rate it 9/10. Tim Burton is a great film-writer also.
Doc
I have always loved TNBC, and have been watching it many times a year since about the time it hit theaters. It has to be one of the most unique movies I have seen, with that spooky theme, and just the charaters. I have even had my little sister sit down and watch it with me, and she loves it. But there is one thing I don't get now, is that there are so many people at my school that wear TNBC sweatshirts, and beanies, and have never, ever seen the movie. I guess that they just like the design, but I can't believe they had never seen the movie PS. I was so surprised when I found that TNBC was a level in Kingdom Hearts, which is my favorite RPG, and I didn't know about it until I reached that level by accident. I WAS SO HAPPY!!!:D

They're such cool designs and concepts that people find it shagtastic. For some reason, humans find the dark and gothic atmosphere intriguing ;^D
Muad'Dib
Yeah... all the goths and such really just love the stuff because it has to do with dark, scary, semi-evil stuff. Anyway, I saw it for the first time in years a few weeks ago. It must be the best stop-motion animation in existence. Maybe not... but it is in my mind. For a Disney musical, the music wasn't bad. Whoever did Jack's voice had some great pitch. And who'd of known the Boogie man gambled?
Dragon Warrior
Ah yes, I like how the Boogie Man is a gambler. That's cool. His fortress sort of has that Texas Gambler look or something XD I too believe it's a wonderful stop-motion animation. In fact, Tim Burton is working on yet another stop-motion film that's set to release in 2005 called The Corpse Bride.
Idiot2.0
TNBC has to be my favorite movie. It creeped me out when I first saw it, but now I force my family to watch it with me. It seems all my friends love it to. Infact I will get into fights with them about which song is better, The first one in the graveyard with jack, or the one in Christmas town. My favorite characters have to be Lock, shock, and barrel. But I find it had to belive that people will wear the TBNC merchandise with out knowing what the story is about. To me it is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen.
Doc
I have to agree with you Idiot 2.0, that it is a good movie. Yet, the people who wear it without knowing what the story is, seem to just like the disigns, whether the people are goth or whatever.
KarmaOfChaos
Believe it or not, Danny Elfman was Jack's singing voice. For those of you who are big Tim Burton fans, you'll know that Elfman and Burton frequently collaborate when making movies (Danny Elfman does the soundtracks). I love both of their work, and it's absolutely fantastic when the get together to work on something. I'm almost positive they worked together on Scissorhands and Big Fish, and probably others but I'm a bit too lazy at the moment to look it up. But yes. About The Nightmare Before Christmas. I actually just saw this movie recently, since I have been deprived of many of the 'basics' of movies due to my mother's rather distrusting view of media. I absolutely loved it. The characters were, despite the surreal, fantastic world they lived in, very human, and I think many people could relate to them. It was also great on a satirical level - the best example being the two-faced politician. And the artwork itself...well. Everyone here already worships and adores Mr. Burton's artwork, so, 'nuff said. The sheer creativity employed in making this is amazing, as is the originality, which is why it became so popular, and still is. This movie is also, in my opinion, one of the best examples of a good Disney musical that you can get. Traditional Disney is famous for its music (see: Under The Sea, Circle of Life, A Whole New World, etc), and The Nightmare Before Christmas didn't fail to live up to these standards. Music is very important to a movie, and Elfman manages to incorporate strange yet addictive music which greatly compliments the visuals. Definitely one of my top ten favorite movies of all time. -Karma PS: Don't worry, the fad will die out soon, just to be replaced by another.
Dragon Warrior
Perhaps the fad will die out when The Corpse Bride comes out? XD I'm pretty sure Danny Elfman did the music for all Tim's films aside from a select few like Ed Wood, which was composed by Howard Shore. And yes, I was aware Danny did the singing voice of Jack. I'm wondering why he didn't just do the full voice rather than hire Chris Sarandon. Perhaps because he was too busy with making the music? Well, then maybe they should've hired an actor that can sing and do the voice XD But if you have TNBC Special Edition DvD, you'll see Danny Elfman writing all the songs and singing them on piano, so I guess that would contribute. What was also cool on the DvD was the way they made the characters and such. Little robots (I forgot the names of them, damn me) are inside the foam structure that's covered with clay and they just design on it. But facial expressions were a tad different. For characters like Jack, they had to make over 200 seperate heads for each facial expression with every mouth movement and such. For Sally, they just made a lot of face masks because creating that many of her heads with her hair would suck big time. I love watching behind the scenes stuff on these kind of movies. It's so damn interesting XD
CaptainAnarchy
I adore it. Its something me and my family can watch together. Its very dark, and morbid...Tim Burton is a genius. I just watched his movie "big fish" last night. He has such a unique way of directing movies. I love it.
MetallicMink
Yay! I'm not alone! XD Yes, the movie is great. Another thing that appeals to me is that it has a surreal, gothica atmosphere, yet has such a simple, innocent plot! It's great, kind of like goth without all the blood, death, and depression. Just how I like it! Jack Skellington is scary on the outside, but is so nice on the inside. Unless he does that thing where he scares Lock, Shock, and Barrel. Remember? :D Heh. I will stop raving about Jack now.

At the moment i have the songs in my head because i watched the film a couple of weeks ago. My fav song is it Kidnapp Santy Claws one because its funny. Not that many of my friends have actually seen and so even heard of the film, which shocked me as it has been on telly a few times at christmas.
