Dagger
I think I've re-watched RahXephon more times than any other anime series (Boogiepop Phantom and the Shamanic Princess OVA are two possible exceptions). It's a show I really love, and it never seems to feel stale--my enthusiasm for its characters, plot and premise has yet to wane. Whenever I revisit RahXephon, I get something different out of the situations and emotions it presents. Revolutionary Girl Utena is another anime I re-watch for similar reasons; my interpretation of the series changes subtly every time I see it. Then, on the other hand, there are anime like Gravitation and Descendants of Darkness, which I pop into the DVD player whenever I'm bored or simply need to relax. Once you've finished a particularly good/entertaining anime, do you usually (or ever) feel compelled to re-watch it? What shows have you returned to most frequently, and why? ~Dagger~
PWNED
I quite often re-watch either Cowboy Bebop or my collection of Ranma 1/2 OAVs. I also watch Furi-Kuri (FlCl) a lot because sometimes I have nothing to watch or I have finished all my work/ games/anything. I watch Cowboy Bebop quite often because of the fact that It is a very cool anime and am thinking of picking up a manga of it (If there is one). FLCL, I watch because I am trying to catch the hidden gags in episodes which there are quite a lot. Ranma 1/2, I watch cause I'm just bored is all. Meggido
The series that I re-watch are actually series that I haven't collected the full set of. These are Final Fantasy Unlimited and Neon Genesis. I also re-watch Bubblegum Crisis on occasion which I have completely collected. If I had Trigun I would watch that over and over again. EVA Unit 100
Evangelion is the anime series to rewatch. It's so deep and entertaining that it almost requires a second or third viewing. I'm also enjoying watching Kenshin reruns on Toonami. Usually with more episodic shows, like Bebop and Azumanga, the quality of the episode usually determines if I'll rewatch it or not. Azure Rose
Well, I don't own very many dvds, but of the ones that I do own, I probably re-watch Fruits Basket and Azumanga Daioh the most. Hehe, they make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside ^_^ But seriously, whenever I'm down or need a good laugh, I just pop in one of those dvds and within an episode or two, my mood has done a complete 180. Lol, to me Furuba and Azumanga are like chocolate, they just make you feel good about life. And honestly, if Yukari sensei doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what will!
pbfrontmanvdp
I'll have to agree with Dagger and say that I have re-watched the RahXephon series the most so far. I have watched the series straight through a good 7 or 8 times so far; mainly at first to understand it more, but later on because I loved it so much. So far no other series has had this great of characterization in an anime and along with the art its just perfect to see over and over again. Probably a close second would have to be GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) not only because it is funny, but that I am pursuing an education career as a teacher. Half the stuff that happens in this anime is funny as hell, but would never happen in real life, or at least I haven't heard of it happening. Anyway though this show is just halarious and I wish they could have made even more episodes but oh well. Even my roommates at college who hate anime love this series as well for some odd reason. Great series to watch over and over again. Oh almost forgot the first part of the question. As for re-watching animes in general, I usually watch every anime I have twice in both sub and dub no matter what (even if its the worse anime I've ever seen) just because I usually always miss something here and there. After 2 times though it has to be something I really enjoyed to watch over again or possibly because im bored at like 4 in the morning with nothing else better to do. QuincyArcher
hmmm... i've watched Neon Genesis Evangelion countless times. Cowboy Bebop twice, Azumanga Daioh 4-5 times, Love Hina countless times, Chobits 4-5 times, FLCL twice, Mahoromatic countless times, Last Exile 3 times, and Ai Yori Aoshi 4 times. Hevn
I can watch Chobits, Get Backers, and Great Teacher Onizuka over and over again mainly because they're fun and relaxing. As for Chobits, there's lots of funny stuff there that could ease my mood when I'm in a really bad shape. It's good to watch them with other people though so you can share the laughs. Ezekiel
Digimon all the way, I've watched Season 1 four times I believe and season 2 three times. I've also watched Digimon the Movie 15 times to date ^^;; I haven't even bought the DVDs yet, but I'm going to in a few days time. I don't know why I love the Digimon series so much, guess it just reminds me of my very first anime obsession. The Gundam Wing Endless Waltz OAV is another good one, I've watched that about three times I think. Slayers Next is also something I'm working on watching repeatedly, wonderful series, I laugh no matter how many times I see it.
Guest Ninelives
Lets see, Trigun is a definite replay, everyday of the week, i cant get enough of it. Dunno why it could be cause of many reasons including the fact that the damn animators are stalking me 24/7 taking my personality and looks and throwing it in the anime *beats away animators with a blunt stick* Another anime that i love to watch is coewboy Bebop the movie cause it is an incredible anime with a suprisingly deep plotline
AzureWolf
Most watched anime: Naruto Good reason for why it is the most watched: N/A Because I'm in college, the only reason I would watch a show more than once would be if I liked it. If I see enough quality, innovation, and depth in an anime, that means I'll watch it twice - at the most. Naruto, however, is a special case. No, there's probably less depth in the show than most of the animes I enjoy. What makes me watch Naruto more frequently than two times? The answer is simply "other people." Aside from everyone I know that follow Naruto and can't d/l it themselves, my brother has assorted friends that do too. Why don't I just leave my computer running while they watch the show? Well, that's because I have my e-mail open and my IM program connected (yes, if I ever cursed at you, that wasn't me). And since everyone has their own lives, the Naruto circle is over at different, random times, so I have to watch each episode a few times. I mean, I do enjoy watching it over, but it does feel like a waste of time by the third go-around. Eva Unit 100, I'm calling you on that: there is, in my opinion, no show that requires more than two viewings to take in everything it has to offer. Something I would like to discuss (is this thread ok for that?) if you disagree.
Pumpkin
I don't know why but I tend to re-watch the animes Marmalade Boy, Magic Knight Rayearth and Hana Yori Dango. I like the older anime types for some reason. Hana Yori Dango I can't seem to get enough of, its like it changes my view everytime I watch it. The first time I saw the anime, I thought poor Tsukushi going through all that trouble, and how much I hated Rui for what he did (not stating cause of spoilers) but the second time I watched it almost gave me like a different impression. I started liking Rui alot more, (still love Doumyoji the best you know) and starting seeing Tsukushi as a brat. Everytime I see it seems like I have a new opinion. Its wierd isn't it? but I understand what you mean. Revolutionary Girl Utena was a hard anime for me to grasp, its very different, although i liked it, its too ...um...depressing for me to watch again. DeathBug
None of these are anime, but I like re-watching Buffy the V ampire Slayer, classic Simpsons, and Scrubs. When I re-watch the anime I own, I like to watch the whole thing over a period of several days, so it's not a casual decision.

Guest Eli67
I get withdrawal symptoms if I don't watch Full Metal Panic at least once a week. The combination of humour and action does it for me every time. And Sousuke Sagara's totally inept grasp of normal life compared to his efficiency in the field is delightful. Have watched Rurouni Kenshin often. Prefer the OVAs with the excellent art and deeper story lines but Kenshin is fine wherever I can find him. Only having access to DVDs I buy myself it has taken awhile for the collection to grow big enough to have a choice. Fortunately a local video store has just opened with a great selection of anime on DVD. I prefer to watch in Japanese with sub titles. I know you can't learn Japanese from watching anime but I'm doing my best!
Eternal Snow
I watch "Full Moon Wo Sagashite", mainly because of the dramatic stuff and somehow seeing Meroko in the show makes me want to watch it again :D
Gatsu
AD Police : To Protect and Serve because it's one of the only complete series that I have access to and I like cop/detective stories. Hellsing : Alucard and Walter are two of my favorite characters of all time, I like the dark horror atmosphere, I like vampires. A few weeks ago I watched the whole 5hr series in one sitting. When Outlaw star and Gundam 08th MS team aired on Cartoon Network I watched those complete series several times, once I finsh completing the series that I have volumes 1s and 2s of those will be the next series I buy. Why? It's hard to explain, but basically the series is THAT good. At a first glance, it's your typical "Jack of all Trades" type of show, but deep down there is a great story and excellent character development. Did I mention how stylish and innovative the art is? And to top it all off, the OST is the best anime soundtrack, ever. Words cannot describe the extremely masterpiece of the music. I mean, I've listened to Maaya Sakamoto sing Hemisphere so many times, I know all the words by heart...in Japanese. lol, considering I don't really care at all for the lanuage. Other great songs like Garden of Everything and Tune the Rainbow make this CD well worth it, this OST is way better than Cowboy Bebop or Initial D ever was. Hittokiri Zero
There are really only a couple of animes I rewatch. Rurouni Kenshin would have to be the series I rewatch the most. It being the first anime that I ever really got "addicted" to I can never get enough of all the RK goodness, not only do I enjoy all the action scenes but the storyline and the characters always seem to touch me every single time . It's much the same way with Full Metal Alchemist ;). Every now and then i'll rewatch parts, or atleast the ending of a Gundam series, just because they usually tend to have dramatic endings where one or more of your favorite characters go bye-bye... Eh... Then there's Initial D which is what i'm currently addicted to, the end of Second Stage is a realy beaut' and some of the race scenes in Fourth Stage are just amazing (Takumi vs. The Todou School Rally Driver, is probably my favorite race of all time!). ziopheth
i mostly re-watch at least: King of Bandit Jing Peace Maker Lain Inu Yasha Kino's Journey & then just other anime i watch every now & then Instead of providing a straight-forward list, try to explain why you re-watch these specific titles. This adds a lot more to the discussion than simply throwing out names. ^_^ ~Dagger~
Guest Kimmy
The one I've rewatched the most has most definitely been Fruits Basket since.. I.. well, just love it and so do all my friends. Another one I've rewatched a ton has been Gravitation cause, hey, the music is catchy and Shuichi and Ryuichi are just plain ADORABLE and hilarious. If for some odd reason I'm feeling a tad depressed or sick: Samurai Deeper Kyo has many comical moments plus action that takes my mind off whatever's bothering me. Mai-HiME (not often yet, since its new, but its one of my favorite series ever so I will be) has that romantic tension where I'm split between who she should be with because I love both guys, but really am rooting for one and its just.. exhausting x.x Bleach (same as Mai-HiME with the not often yet/new thing) has comical parts and action. Aishiteruze Baby (same as Mai-HiME and Bleach) is just plain ADORABLE!! The poor baby girl is just precious ^-^;; Triangle Pop Session is upbeat, catchy (yet overplayed) music and touching storyline. Weiss Kreuz has bishiness all over it. So I need a better reason? Flame of Recca also has bishiness (although my friend and I constantly fight Recca vs. Mikigami. I mean, come on. Mikigami is just awesome!) and action. Kare Kano and Hana Yori Dango are total shojo animes that are just awesome romances to daydream over and such. And just because I love them and so do my friends: Full Metal Panic, Saiyuki, Flame of Recca, Kare Kano, Triangle Pop Session, Gravitation and Fruits Basket are all the anime I've been as close as you can come to forcing me to watch anime. My friends basically just pop them in and I don't really argue. Hope that's long enough for ya'll! XP
Venge
The only anime's that I can think of that I can watch over and over again are Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT, and Inuyasha. I've watched most of Z and GT, but I'm still trying to watch all of Inuyasha on Adult Swim on the CN. DBZ: One main reason; the fights. I like many of the fights and twists as the story goes. And, I also get an adrenaline rush whenever I see certain scenes (Goku transform to Super Saiyan for the first time, Vegeta blow himself up, Goku and Vegeta fight for the first time). I just can't get enough of this series. DBGT: Not as good as Z, but pretty well. It's mainly just straight through fighting throughout the series, with not much plot development (not to mention all the plot holes =P). But, none the less, I still get a kick out of watching Goku and Vegeta transform to Super Saiyan 4 and then fuse to become Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. And I like to watch Omega Shenron get blown to pieces by the Universal Spirit Bomb. >>Matt
Guest Misukii
I've watched Inuyasha alot of times ^^ because it has cool music and I love the story plot :) it also has romance which I like very much plus it shows on adult swim but I still watch it :p I watched Fushigi Yuugi a bunch of times ( I haven't got the complete series yet though >.<) it's a very interesting anime I love Tamahome and Miaka's relationship ^^ their so cute together I like it because it has a good story plot not really good as inuyashas but it's my second best anime well that's about it the other anime I just watch it and then go buy the next volume ^^;
I, Colossus
As far as series go, I think that Cowboy Bebop is the only series I've watched multiple times in it's entirety. The main reason is, I simply don't like much else anymore. It has been my favorite anime since the first time I saw the ending, which was quite a while ago, I think I was in 7th grade. So, a little more than 3 years now. The reason it never seems to get old, is because Cowboy Bebop, has a timeless sense of style. The 50s Jazz thing that I'll always find cool. Not to mention it, at times, blends genres. When I pop in a DVD I'm not confined to gunfights and drama, I can always watch Mushroom Samba and have a good laugh. Also, everytime I watch it again, I still feel for the characters. Even though, I know their end results, I still have a sense of worry when they're in danger, ect. If we're talking movies/OVAs too. Then I've seen the Street Fighter II movie an astounding amount of times. Not to mention the Samurai X OVAs, which I rewatched almost immeadeatly. Snoogans.
