Aerain
Ok I am new to anime and I am looking for an all around anime like Inuyasha. I made some research on Google but I couldn't find anything on that subject. I am really looking forward a show in which I would get an overall experience. Anyway, do you guys have anything to suggest??? Thanks in advance..
Dagger
I'm a little confused. As a person who's just been introduced to anime, you want a series which will broaden your experience? Is that it? I'm not totally sure what you have in mind, so I've just mentioned a few shows which incorporate action, comedy, romance, etc. and seem to appeal to a variety of fans. Get Backers is fun and highly entertaining. At fifty-two episodes, it's of a much more manageable length than, say, Inuyasha or Yu Yu Hakusho. The stand-alone episodes and mini-arcs are tolerable enough, but the characters are what really drive this anime--it's almost impossible not to pick favorites. Get Backers would be pretty average were it not for its sly, silly SD comedy and quirky pantheon of bishounen. The battle sequences are cleverly choreographed, and the artwork is pleasantly shiny. It also boasts a rather good English dub. Chrono Crusade strikes a similar tone, but it has more of a linear plot and at times becomes very dark. Like demons? Here you'll find them in spades. Though the comedic relief can be grating, the dramatic/tragic moments are pulled off with panache. This anime tackles themes which are in their essence reminisicent of the issues raised in Inuyasha, despite the fact that its setting is totally different (New York City in the '20s as opposed to feudal Japan). Best of all, Chrono Crusade has a top-notch dub and a strong, likeable female lead. Another anime to look out for (although the first DVD won't come out till January 11) is Samurai Champloo, a hilarious and brilliant series from the director of Cowboy Bebop. It takes a new approach to the age of the samurai by mixing the conventions of the genre with hip-hop and tongue-in-cheek humor. The show reeks style, and the action is flawlessly executed. Some other personal favorites that combine drama with great action and comedy are Peacemaker and R.O.D the TV. I would be happy to provide a more detailed synopsis for any of the titles listed above. ~Dagger~
Pumpkin
Do you mean you want Recommendations? If you like Inu Yasha, I could maybe suggest some types you might like. Slayers is a long series like Inu Yasha, maybe not as long, but with three season and acouple movies that you could look into if you want. Its mostly Medieval/Comedy/Fantasy genre and I've personally enjoyed it. *I'll post more later*
QuincyArcher
If you're looking for an Action/Drama series i would recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion (still my all-time favorite), Last Exile, Tenjou Tenge, Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell, Noir and of course Cowboy Bebop. For Comedy, Azumanga Daioh is hands down the best there is. some other good series' are Love Hina, Mahoromatic, School Rumble and Girls Bravo. For Romance/Drama some great series' are Ai Yori Aoshi, Chobits, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, and Koi Kaze. (i guess Love Hina can fit under this catagory as well) and for some completely bizarre but still very good series' FLCL (furi kuri) is great as well as Serial Experiments Lain. hope that helps. 3v1l.l33t
Rurouni Kenshin is good. It's a very smart anime with good action and excellent character development. It's got it's slapstick moments and serious storylines so its a combination of many things. So yeah, its an all around anime.
EVA Unit 100
If you want a good anime, look no further than Cowboy Bebop. Everything about it is great. There was only one episode I wouldn't grade in the A range (Stray Dog Strut), and even that episode wasn't bad. It's an enigma: all of the major characters (not counting Ed, whose just there for comic relief) have very dark, depressing pasts, and yet the show still manages to be upbeat, cool, and sometimes downright silly. A story of tragedy told in the form of a comedy. It's just pure genius. The shows' episodes can be dark, light, and anything inbetween. The characters are all fun and dysfunctional, yet deep enough for you to care for them. Plus it's episodic, although there is a deeper underlaying plot all leading up to quite an emotional ending. It's the greatest anime series there is. Watch it. Love it. Watch it again. 'Nough said.

Dagger
A note to all: please explain your choices. A simple sentence or two should be more than sufficient, but just throwing names at Aerain won't do him (her?) much good, no matter how many anime you list. Thank you very much for taking this into consideration. :) ~Dagger~
KarmaOfChaos
Well, if you like light-hearted, amusing animes with romantic undertones, try Fruits Basket. At 26 episodes it's not intimidating, and it's something everyone can understand, without being too well-read in Japanese culture or anime and manga (such animes as FLCL and Excel Saga require a deeper obsession with many anime genres and Japanese lifestyles). It's great for laughs and exemplifies a lot of things you'll see in 'traditional' anime. It also deals with serious themes, and requries thought and makes the viewer feel something for the characters. Very good overall anime. Unless of course you're macho man and refuse to watch "girly" anime. ;) -Karma
SaiyanDestroya
Good point^ Should be something easy to comprehend as well....so, I would not suggest Evangelion right off the bat. Trigun is a simple, and GREAT anime. The story is awesome, action is good, and very humoroous. Give it a shot.
