WW2
Well its been many moons since I've started a thread, haven't had much luck, but something some what interesting happened today. Today, like most Tuesdays, I went to the local video rental store to see what new movies were released. When I got there I was surprised to see that a great number of new movies had come out, leaving me distressed over which one to spend my money on. I ended up renting Shaun of the Dead, but in doing so I came up with this thread. Since new releases come out every Tuesday I thought it'd be a good idea to have you, the wonderful people of OB, to give your veiws on which movies to buy or rent. This will surely help others like me who have trouble making such decisions. Still with me? Ok heres this weeks big new releases: King Arthur Anacondas 2 Brothers Surviving Christmas Shaun of the Dead The Manchurian Candidate Napolean Dynamite If anybody has seen any of these movies and has any recomendations, feel free to give some feedback on em'. K? I'll be back next week with more movies, in an attempt to make this thread an ongoing thing. That is if it doesn't die by then.
Doc
I have heard great things about Shaun of the Dead and Napoleon Dynamite from friends and critiques alike. I really want to see them both, but since it is so close to christmas I can't rent them.:(
WW2
I have heard great things about Shaun of the Dead and Napoleon Dynamite from friends and critiques alike. I really want to see them both, but since it is so close to christmas I can't rent them.:( [/color']
Yeah Shaun of the Dead was actually a good comedy/horror movie, that is if you like British people. I found it to be pretty hilarious in some parts and quite grusome in others. All in all it was a good rental. As for Napolean Dynamite I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet, but I did see Colateral which, despite what my friend Annie said, was a really good movie. Well thats me... does anyone else have anything to add about any of the new releases?
Sword Breaker
Well, of the new releases, I can simply say this. Do not, under any circumstance, see King Arthur. It is one of the worst movies I have seen in recent years, and is just all round crappy, and makes little to no sense. There were a few cool parts, but nothing really worth spending money on. I've heard relly good things about Napolean Dynamite, and that is definatly a movie worth checking out. I'll probably see it on PPV, since the nearest bvideo store is far away. As for the rest, it all depends on your taste. If you like action, go for Anacondas. Thrillers? Mancherian Candidate. Sappy/family type stuff, 2 brothers. I can't say much for the rest. Doc
My parents made me babysit my 7 year old sister when they went to see it. WHY COULDN'T THEY BRING ME TOO?!??! They said it was a pretty good movie. Yet they also said they giggled through most of it. ^_^
WW2
Hmm...its seems my thread isn't doing too well. I created it so that others wouldn't have to make individual threads about the movies of the week. Eh...oh well. Hey! Its Tuesday again, meaning more new releases. There are quite a few interesting titles this week also: Anchorman: Starring Buddy the Elf Garden State: Starring that Scrubs guy Open Water: Ahh! Sharks! Resident Evil: Apocalypse: Heard it was horrible Wimbledon: Starring a blonde Mary Jane Watson and that kicker from The Replacements. I've been wanting to see Anchorman for a while now, so now I guess I finally get my chance. As for the others, some looked interesting, so I might check em' out too. Well...thats it. If ya wanna coment or share any insight on any of the movies feel free to. I'll be back next week with more titles.
GuyYouMetOnline
Haven't seen any of those, but I expect good things from Resident Evil: Apocalypse. It just seems like the kind of movie I'd enjoy. As for last week's, the only one I've seen is Shawn of the Dead, and that was absolutly hillarious. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Doc
I have two things to say... First off, Resident Evil has had bad reviews from everyone and their mother. I know so many people who have seen it, and actually wanted their money back. Now on to my second point, and main topic of this post... Anchorman is hilarious. It consists of non-stop stupid humor. It... it's....it's... fun?! The movie has many a funny scene such as
They spontaniously brake out into funny songs, such as Afternoon Delight.
They also
Have "gang wars" with rival newstations crews. In a scene Will and his men meet up with some other people, and they use swords, and a gun, and knives and all this crap... Then one of Will's friends whips out a mace spike ball...
It's very funny.
WW2
I just saw Anchorman last night, and I have to say it was pretty hilarious. Like Doc said its got a awkward comedic style to it and many great scenes. Where else could you see
a biker punt a small dog off a bridge?
Oh and I also saw the movie Wicker Park...which I forgot to list this week. It stars Josh Hartnet and is a damn good thriller/mystery....that is if you take the time to pay attention.
Doc
I am now the proud owner of Anchorman (uncut ^-^) and Napoleon Dynomite. I'm going over to my dad's for the weekend and watching them with him. ^-^ It's going to be a great time.
Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. I have to admit there's really only one film out this week that I'm interested in buying, that being Vin Diesel?s Chronicles of Riddick. I saw the film a few times before and I really enjoyed it, should make an excellent addition to my movie collection. As for King Arthur, I dub it to be one of the worst films ever made. Honestly just sitting down and watching the last thirty minutes of it was nearly enough to give me a stroke from its sheer dubiousness. I can only advise anyone thinking of renting or buying it to keep their money or rent a better film, and by better I mean anything other than this.
GuyYouMetOnline
Well, I just finished watching Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and it certainly met my expectations. I really don't see what the problem people have with it is. Unless they expected something that wasn't a zombie-action movie, that is. Seriosly, Apocalypse isn't the kind of movie that has a great plot, but I don't mind. That's not why I watch movies like that. If I want a good plot, I'll watch something like Antitrust (which is an excellent movie, by the way) or The Mancurian Candidate (which I'll probably watch tomorrow night). WW2
Yeah its Tuesday again...blah blah blah. Here are the new movies: Troy: Featuring Greeks with both Australian and English accents! Little Black Book: *cough* Chick flick Harold and Kumar go to White Castle: Stoners! Thats about all that came out this week except for a little known movie I rented and watched today called Employee of the Month. It stars Mat Dillon, Christina Applegate, and Steve Zahn, and was surprisingly pretty good. If ya rent it pay attention to Dillon's speech at the begining, it really foreshadows whats to come. GuyYouMetOnline
Not a good selection last week, which probably explains why nobody's posted here. However, I'd like to know what came out yesterday, so do you think you could post that information?
natetron46
Yeah its Tuesday again...blah blah blah. Apparently when any ancient culture spoke english (which was actually never) they sound like they are english. Bad Pitts not even english, why fake an accent. Stupid....Decent movie, but if you read the Illiad, you will be disappointed.

Heh...better late than never I guess. I'm afraid this week doesn't have much of a selection either, but oh well. Paparazzi: A heart warming tale of a crazed actor killing crazed photographers. The Village: Which I heard was Shamalamadingdong's worst movie. Without a Paddle: Which looks sorta funny....but you can't trust trailers these days. Well thats it. Maybe I'll post next week's if I'm not too busy, and hear what you guys think of Catwoman!!! :D
GuyYouMetOnline
Personally, I think Without a Paddle looks very good. Oh, I saw Harlod and Kumar last weekend, which has to be one of the funniest movies of all time. Seriously, they have some hillarious stuff in there, including getting a cheetah stoned and the only example of 'toilet' humor I've ever seen a critic actually like. What all was released this week?
