SaiyanDestroya
BRR....Colorado is cold. Anyway, this may seem kind of weird, but me and my girlfriend are sitting here trying to think up strange concoctions for hot chocolate....anybody have some strange recipes or additives to the classic warm drink for the holidays? Retribution
Instead of making it the way they tell you on the pack with hot water, I use hot milk. It tastes ALOT better. I also add a little bit of a chocolate bar, so that it actually tastes like chocolate. Not just some water with powered-chocolate mix. Yuck! I put real hot milk and add in a few milk chocolate bars, it tastes so good that you literally feel warm in minutes. Its the best. I find the very idea of chocolate-y water vaguely repulsive, so I've always used milk instead. It ends up tasting much richer and smoother. In fact, I think I'll go make some hot chocolate right now--it's rather rainy and dismal outside. ~Dagger~
DBZgirl88
I don't drink hot chocolate as much as I do cocoa. But, cocoa is hard to make! It takes alot of effort to dissolve the power, but here are a few tricks. First, spoon out cocoa powder and mix it with equal amounts of sugar. Add a little milk, just a little, and then mix it vigorously until you get a smooth, thick paste. It helps if you heat the paste in the microwave a bit, and then at a bit more milk. Then spoon the paste into mugs filled three quarters up with milk. Then, heat the mugs up in the microwave. Try adding cinnimon to the hot cocoa to spicen it up a bit. Altron's idea of adding some pieces of chocolate is also good. Chocolate chips work well. I also add chocolate chips to my coffee sometimes.
SaiyanDestroya
Hmm cocoa sounds good, but not as convenient as hot chocolate lol. I tried chocolate chips in my coffee today, pretty damn good :D
Queen Asuka
I don't use the little packet, powdery things, I use chocolate syrup in hot milk.
Why has this never occurred to me? I always end up leaving it cold cause that's the way like my regular chocolate milk. I should really try it though for convenience's sake. Takes up much less time.

My friend Elsa fills her cup about a quarter full of chocolate chips before adding hot chocolate (pre-mixed and warm, from the dispenser in the cafeteria). I agree that hot chocolate is infinitely better with milk. It's just....yummier. I also make tomato soup with milk, yum. Actually, buttered toast dipped in hot chocolate is a wonderul winter snack. I encourage everyone to have some. Heh. I actually just had some hot chocolate that (upon closer investigation of the container) turned out to be hot chocolate expresso. It's quite good, and I'm quite untired. Heh. three french hens, Sara
