-- If you're going to catch a new Pokèmon, you must state so in the post before you actually do.
-- Ash will only be a character mentioned in the first several posts.

I'm using a different beginning just so it flows well.
---------
There was a dim light in another room, then a crash, and the sound of glass falling to the floor. Ash Ketchum jumped out of his bed and ran down his stairs.

A tall, skinny man now, Ash had only just returned four years ago from his Pokèmon adventure. During this adventure, he made many friends, Pokèmon and human alike, and enemies just the same.

Pokèball in hand, he crept through the living room, careful not to make any noise. Then he saw it: a broken window, shattered glass on the floor, and a black Pokèmon he recognized as Umbreon sitting outside.

?Pikachu!? Ash yelled. A yellow, mouse-like Pokèmon came running down the stairs. On the bottom step, he perked his ears up and looked at Ash, then at the Umbreon.

Have your partner stand down.

The voice was feminine, telepathic, and was heard by both Ash and Pikachu. It took a moment for them to realize it had come from Umbreon.

?What do you want?? Ash asked.

?Pika!?

I?ve all ready got what I want, she replied. From her side, a black ball surrounded by a golden aura floated in mid-air. It was the Control Ball.

?Pikachu, Thunder Bolt!? Ash yelled. Pikachu charged through the living room, out the window, and landed in front of Umbreon. Before the electric Pokèmon could attack, though, he was lifted into the air by the same aura that was surrounding the Control Ball.

?Pikachu! Pika!?

Electricity sparked from the red sacks on his cheeks, but could not escape the aura. Suddenly, he was thrown across the yard and into a tree. Umbreon fled, the Control Ball going with her.

Ash just stared at the figure racing away into the night.

?She was working alone. I didn?t see a trainer anywhere.? Ash leaned against a desk in the office of Professor Oak, the leading Pokèmon expert in the world. It had been ten years since he sent Ash off with Pikachu on his adventure. His hair was grayer (if that was possible), and he had more laugh lines around his mouth.

?Be that as it may, Ash, a Pokèmon does not steal something so important on its own. Especially one as intelligent as an Umbreon.? The Professor took a swig of his coffee. Decaf. ?I wish I had seen that Umbreon, I really haven?t got to see one up close yet.?

?Professor.?

?Sorry, sorry. But yes, this is a dire situation and it will require immediate action. I have already contacted my colleagues from Johto and Hoeen, and they are going to arrive shortly.?

?I called Lorelei of the Pokèmon League Elite Four last night after I treated Pikachu. Misty, Brock, May, and Max are on their ways as we speak. May and Max are going to be later than the others, of course, because they?re in Johto right now.?

Professor Oak took another drink of his coffee, and Ash walked the short distance to the window. He sighed heavily, and watched as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Heracross, and Muk played outside.

?I should?ve stopped her,? he said suddenly. ?I?m a Pokèmon Champion, goddamnit, and I lost something really important to one Pokèmon! Hell, Professor, do you know how many Pokèmon I had to fight when I defeated Team Rocket once and for all? I failed this time. I failed.?

?True, the Control Ball is a very important object indeed. It?s power to control any Pokèmon its laser touches is something that should never have been created. But,? he walked to Ash?s side, ?it has been lost before, and it has been found before. Do not worry, Ash, we will find it.?

Ash sighed again.

§

?It?s so cool!?

?Oh wow! I want one!?

?I want to go to the Safari Zone so I can get one!?

Most of the class surrounded the girl and her Dratini, most of the class being everyone except one girl, Noelle. It wasn?t that she didn?t like Pokèmon, she just wasn?t as interested in them as the others, and she didn?t know why.

The Dratini belonged to a fellow classmate named Nikki, who just recently returned from a trip to Lavender Town. She had visited the ghost town to see her cousin, and to celebrate her thirteenth birthday. Her cousin had taken her to the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City for her birthday, and that?s where she caught the Dratini.

?Hey, Noelle, do you want to see my Dratini?? Nikki called over the noise of the classroom with a sweet smile on herself.

?No, that?s okay,? Noelle said politely. She was sure the Dratini was nice, but it just didn?t interest her. She avoided the disappointed look on Nikki?s face as hard as she could.

?Okay, class, time to put the nice Pokèmon away.?

As the teacher took her place in the front of the classroom, Noelle tried her best to pay attention, but it just wasn?t happening.

The sun was shining brightly today, and Noelle couldn?t help but feel something wasn?t right. She apologized as she ran into a muscular, tanned man, and he smiled kindly at her.

Her house wasn?t far from the school. Her house wasn?t far from anything since she lived in Pallet, as it was a small town; everyone knew everyone, everyone liked everyone. And, Noelle thought, she was the only one who wasn?t extremely interested in Pokèmon.

But she did have one, whom she loved with all her heart. A male Charmander that her father had rescued from an attack of Fearow and Spearow in a nearby forest. He had a scar over his left eye from the attack.

Without knocking, she entered her house, and instantly was greeted by her mother, Katherine.

?How was your day?? she asked kindly.

?It was good,? Noelle replied, putting her book bag on a rack by the door. ?Nikki Young caught a Dratini in the Safari Zone.?

?Ah, how nice,? Katherine said, sitting down on the couch. ?So that means she?s going to start her journey here soon??

?I guess,? Noelle said lazily. She knew what was coming.

?You know, you turned ten a while ago, you should have already left-?

?Mom, I don?t want to go.?

?But your father and I had such a great time on ours, and I?m sure you would.?

Noelle sighed. She knew she couldn?t win. ?Where?s Charmander? I haven?t seen him all day.?

?He?s out back with Nidorina.?

Nidorina was Noelle?s mom?s Pokèmon, and she was very high level. She wasn?t her only one, though, but it was her first Pokèmon, thus her closest.

The backyard was spacious enough; it often hosted her parents? Pokèmon during the day. Charmander sat on the ground, his flamed tail wagging eagerly. Nidorina was across from him, and they were rolling a ball back and forth.

?Hey Charmander,? Noelle said sweetly. He sprang to his feet and hugged Noelle?s leg sweetly.

?Nido! Nidorina! Rina!?

Nidorina was obviously trying to get her attention, and when she did, she pointed to the sky. Noelle?s jaw dropped at the sight; hundreds, maybe even thousands of Pokèmon from the forest were flying overhead. There were Butterfree, Beedrill, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Spearow, Fearow, and many other flying forest dwellers.

Noelle sprinted through the house, and Charmander followed. When she opened the front door, she was surprised once again. Large amounts of Rattata, Caterpie, and Weedle were scurrying through the streets, vandalizing anything and everything.

?Mom!? Noelle yelled back into the house. ?Mom, come look at this!?

Katherine was there in almost no time, and her jaw dropped as well.

Then, as they two girls were surveying the incident, several Rattata turned towards them.

?They?re going to attack!? Noelle shouted.

?Nidorina!? The Pokèmon came running through the house at her trainer?s call. ?Nidorina, use Poison Sting!?

Nidorina opened her mouth and dozens of glowing needles apprehended the Rattata, forcing them to back off.

?Charmander, use Scratch!? Noelle yelled as several Weedle attacked. Charmander?s tiny paw began to glow, and he swiped at the bug Pokèmon.

?What?s going on?? shouted Katherine over the noise.

---

OCC: Your first posts will deal with the battles/situation against the Pokèmon that have appeared; I will lead us into the beginning of the journey.

Have fun.

"Dad!" Nikki cried, slamming the back door. "They tried to attack me!" Her father, Michael, ran up to her, checking if she was okay. "Did you lock the door?" he asked her. She nodded silently. "Alright. I'll make sure they don't--" He was cut off by a loud thud coming from the living room, followed by the crash of some tables falling over. "They're in the house!" they heard her mother shriek from upstairs.

"Go upstairs and stay in your room!" "But--" "Trust me. It will be safer that way," he insisted. She sighed, watching him run to the living room.

"Get out of here! Shoo!" she heard him yelling. She knew trying to get the pokemon out that way was not going to work. "Go Jolteon!" Nikki heard him cry. She paused, then remembered that she was to go upstairs. She ran up, jumping a step or two, all the while the sounds of a battle going on downstairs. As she rushed through the upstairs hallway, she passed a window.

Outside herds of pokemon, flying and earthbound, attacking everything in town. What was going on, nobody knew.

Nikki flung open her bedroom door to see Dratini curled up peacefully on her bed. "Com'mon. We're going to help Dad," she instructed, her pokemon happily slithering to her feet. As she went through the hallway, she stopped abruptly as her mother, Angelina, rushed out her door.. "Nikki, dear!" she cried. "What?" She paused. "You coming to help?" Nikki nodded.

"Where's-?" Nikki began, cut off by her mother's Sealeo appearing by her side. "Right here," her mother smiled before all four of them rushed downstairs.

OOC: Sorry if it's short. I wasn't sure what exactly you wanted to happen yet. >_>;;

Quiet, calm and peaceful... that was the current mood of Jon and his surroundings. He was sat just outside Pallet Town, beside a lake, lay down on his back with Squirtle beside him. Jon had his eyes shut lightly and was humming to himself, he was tempted to let Eevee and Gastly out but he was going to get going in a minute back to Pallet Town.

"Well, we have to be getting back now." Jon said, jumping up and stretching his arms out followed by a tired yawn. "I know I should be deep into my journey by now, but I won't speed things up... We're going to leave Pallet shortly, though, and that means you won't have a lot of trips outside your pokeball." Jon explained to Squirtle. As if he were human, Squirtle gave a low groan (still in his name) and lowered his head... he did like being outside his pokeball, a lot more than Gastly and Eevee.

Jon returned his Squirtle to its pokeball, looked at the shiny red pokeball in his hand for a moment, then smiled. He shrink it down to the smallest size and clipped it onto his belt, letting his smile grow and inhaling the fresh air.

Though when he did this he got more air than he wanted. A stronge gust of wind suddenly rushed past him, causing the lake water to jump up and the dirt below him to curve and flick up sand. Jon quickly covered his eyes, not being able to see what was causing the quick rush of wind.

When whatever rushed past him was gone, Jon opened his eyes slowly and removed his hands from his head, only to see a huge Fearow swooping higher into the air with its giant wings. Boy, Fearow had huge wings!

"What was all that about?" Jon asked himself. He was shocked when he heard the sqwuarking and sounds of small Spearow answer his call, lots of them. Quickly he turned around and saw at least fifty Spearow flapping their tiny wings in an effort to keep up with Fearow and heading straight for Jon's position. Jon thought for a moment. There was no way Squirtle could managed an attack on that many Spearow just above the ground, Eevee wouldn't fair as good either, but Gastly was uneffected by normal-type attacks!

"Gastly, go!" Jon shouted, tossing the pokeball which contained his Gastly towards the Spearow. In a whisp of smoke Gastly whooshed out of the ball, chanting his name when he saw the Spearow before him. "Gastly, try a Night Shade attack!" Jon ordered. He knew Gastly wasn't perfect with Night Shade, but it was the perfect escape.

The purple gas around Gastly began to spread out slowly, then in an instant it whooshed out to the sides like a powerful smoke screen and smoothered the Spearow with mystic smoke. The gas turned into pitch-black for awhile, but disappeared slowly leaving a few Spearow to drop to the ground and the ones still flying to turn around and run back to the forest.

"Gassstly!" Gastly chanted, hovering up and down.

"Alright, nice one!" Jon punched the air with his fist in joy, and smiled when Gastly hovered back over to him. "That was strange, I've never seen that happen near Pallet before. Hurry up, we should get back into town before the Fearo-"

"Feaaar!" Jon was cut off by the high hissing bird cry of Fearow, right behind him. Jon could feel the wind from Fearow's wings on his back and hair, but he managed to look around, and wished he hadn't. The Fearow was closer than he thought, it was hovering right in his face.

Jon wasn't going to have Gastly battle it; he knew very well Fearow had some flying-type moves that could easily give Gastly a beating combined with its speed. So Jon made the choice to run instead of being caught up in a fight with a Fearow.

"Gastly!" Gastly shouted his name after Jon, slightly shocked when the Fearow charged right through him. The Fearow flew up high and turned around, on the tail of Gastly and right behind Jon.

"Gastly, wait until we get closer to Pallet town and then use Lick!" Jon decided, looking back at Gastly for an instant. While he looked back he didn't see one of the Rattata beneath his feet and suddenly plunged to the floor, face first in the dusty road and almost laying on the Rattata.

The Fearow was gaining on Gastly, Jon saw it as he got up. Before he could take out Gastly's pokeball and return him, he turn a low hissing sound behind him, a cry which he had heard often in Pallet. Behind Jon were Rattata, lots of them. Hissing with their fangs and bodies ready for a tackle, and in front of Jon was a Fearow with enough wing power to strike down like an arrow from the clouds.

But Jon wasn't going to give up, no. He took out his two last pokemon, Eevee and Squirtle, and called them out.

OOC: Note that I haven't seen Gastly Night Shade attack on the show, sorry if it might be a little wrong.

Aaron walked through the small down town area of Pallet heading for Professor Oaks lab that was seated on top of a hill at the edges of the town close to the forest area. Kecleon rested on Aaron's shoulder half asleep as people in the area bustled around minding there own business. Aaron was still nervous about meeting Oak, he knew his mother very well, but he had never said two words to the man. He wondered if his mom had told him that he would be coming instead of his mother who was too busy with work at the League, which would be starting soon.

Kecleon suddenly twitched and raised his head, his long green tail curled and uncurled as if he was about to pounce on something. Aaron then heard someone yell and many people raced inside stores and other building on the street. Not knowing what was going on, Aaron stayed where he was and watched as many bird pokemon flew over head and a dust cloud appeared heading towards town. Kecleon jumped off of Aaron's shoulder, landing on all fours he growled as a stampede of pokemon rushed into the town.

Other tariners along the street pulled out pokeballs and released there own pokemon ready to battle any wild pokemon that may cross his or her path. A small group of Cyndaquil came charging strait for Aaron and Kecleon.

"Ok Kecleon..." Aaron started thinking of an attack that may help. "Disappear!" Kecleon's body vanished except for the blue zig zag that always remained. The Cyndaquil slowed there pace slightly, hesitant of the blended pokemon, "Ok, now use lick on the one in the front!" Aaron called out.

"Kec!" Kecleon's long tongue flew from his mouth hiting the head cyndaquil head on. The paralysis took its affect and the fire pokemon tumbled to the ground, causing the ones behind it to trip and stumble. Kecleon smiled and waited for another comand.

"Now use scratch!" Aaron called with a smile.

"Kecleon!" Three red marks ripped across a Cyndaquil's face, blinding it for the moment as Kecleon tackled it to the ground. Aaron felt a rush of excitment flow over him, he always felt like this when he battled or watched a battle.

"Ok, now use Tail whip!" Aaron yelled. Kecleon landed in front of a Cyndaquil and sprung his tail out, banging the pokemon square in the head, it fell over and then jumped up and ran away with the others.

"Kecleon!" The chameleon pokemon said in triumph. Aaron grined and was about to say something when he saw the Cyndaquil who had been leading the charge trying its best to limp away from the two. Aaron's grin became ear to ear.

"Hurry Kecleon, use tackle!" He pulled an empty pokeball from his belt as Kecleonramed into the Cyndaquil sending it tumbling over.

I'm going to catch the Cyndaquil.

"Charmander, Charmander!"

Noelle yelled for her Pokèmon as they ran down the crowded street. She had gotten separated from her mother earlier, and Charmander had fled in fear; he had never really battled, and had nearly been beaten by a Fearow.

The Pokèmon kept coming, and coming, and... coming. They were more hostile by the herd, and, Noelle thought, if Pokèmon were always like this, she did not want to be a trainer.

Charmander, she saw, had stopped just up the road, and didn't move at all. "Char!" he then screamed, and turned around and began to run towards Noelle. A swarm of Beedrill came from a spot where Noelle hadn't seen them, and chased Charmander.

Noelle bent down as Charmander ran into her arms. He wanted to keep running, but she kept a firm grip on him, and he looked at her with tears in his eyes.

"Charmander, Charmander, listen to me," Noelle said firmly. "I know neither of us have had much experience in battles but we can't run away from them forever. Now, turn around, and show them what my Char-Char is made of. Alright?"

"Char. Charmander." Charmander nodded and turned around.

"Fire Pokèmon are good against Bug-type," Noelle whispered to herself. "At least I hope." She pointed at the swarm of Beedrill that was steadily gaining on them. "Charmander, use Ember!"

Charmander ran a short distance, leaped into the air, and began swirling around; fire from his tail began to fly out from his little body, hitting several Beedrill. They fell to the ground, but there were many more coming.

"Charmander! Ember!"

Several more fell.

"Charmander! Em-"

"Charizard, Flamethrower!"

A quite large flame zoomed over Noelle and Charmander, and hit most of the remaining Beedrill. The rest flew back towards the forest.

Noelle looked skyward and saw Ash and his Charizard flying towards them. Once they were low enough, Ash reached a hand out to Noelle. "Here, I'll take you to Professor Oak's lab; all the kids are being taken there for safety."

Noelle nodded, took his hand, and called for Charmander. He began to run towards them, but slowed to a nervous walk as he passed Charizard's vision (who winked at him and obviously intimidated him), and he hopped onto the Pokèmon's back.

§

"Starmie! Psyduck! Staryu! Water Gun!"

Water drenched the windows of Professor Oak's lab as the adults outside fought the wild Pokèmon. Ash, Katherine, and Kane (Noelle's dad) were the only adults inside. Noelle stayed close to her parents as the other kids clung to the windows, watching the battle.

"The only explanation for this is the Control Ball," Oak said as Noelle listened. "The Pokèmon had enough intelligence to begin to use it, or her trainer was in the forest, waiting."

"Nevertheless, the authorities have been called and are on their way," Ash said.

Katherine said, "Yes, but doesn't that leave the Control Ball out there? I mean, won't other cities be attacked? Won't they need help too?"

"They will, but that is up to them to provide," Oak said.

"We need to send Ash to get them," Kane said. Ash's jaw dropped as he said this. "You are the only one who really knows the world in Pallet. Who else to go?"

Noelle's parents musn't have thought of her, because Noelle had memorized all the regions of the world...

--

OCC: Your posts will bring you to Oak's, then I will set us off on our journey. Do something interesting when you're getting there. ;)

Taking a deep breath, Aaron sent the empty pokeball rocketing off to the Cyndaquil. The ball his the fire pokemon on the stomach and in a flash of light it was consumed inside the ball which began to rattle and shake back and forth. The red light in the middle of the ball went back to its normal color and the ball stopped moving.

"Alright! That was awesome!" Aaron cheered, picking up Kecleon and jumping around. He was suddenly interupted as more pokemon came rampaging through the town. Aaron quickly picked up Cyndaquils ball and placed it on his belt. Kecleon readied himself for another fight, his tail curling and un curling,"Ok Kecleon let's start out with a-"

Aaron was cut off as a sandshrew busted out from the ground, landing in front of them. Before Aaron could react the ground pokemon kicked up dust and sand from the ground blinding both Kecleon and Aaron.

"Kecleon!" Aaron called out, hoping that the little pokemon would run over next to him. His eyes burned as he tried to rub the soot from his eyes. The sand suddenly stoped and he looked up to see the sandshrew whip Kecleon with it's strong tail sending the chameleon pokemon flying through the air. "Kecleon!" Aaron yelled.

He started to run in the direction Kecleon was heading for. Suddenly, a large pokemon with someone standing on top of it rose up in the air, the person on the large pokemon caught Kecleon as he soared near them. Aaron recognized the pokemon as an onix and the man riding it looked familiar.

Aaron quickly spun around to see many pokemon closing in on him from all sides. He backed up slowly, if he ran they would probably just run after him and eat him. Maybe if I stand here real still... they won't see me...

"Hey!" A voice yelled. Aaron looked behind him to see the Onix coming near him, it lowered its head close to the ground and the man on it had his hand extended out. "Grab on!" He yelled as the large rock pokemon came rocketing past Aaron and the pokemon surrounding him (who started to run away from the rock giant). Aaron reached out his hand and a firm grip grabed his.

Before he knew it he was riding on top of an Onix holding onto the jacket of the man in front of him. The man was very tan and had brown spiked hair. He was holding onto to Kecleon in one arm and with his other hand he was holding onto the spike of Onix's head. He passed Kecleon back to Aaron and gave him a smile.

"Take care of this little guy while I drive." He said with a laugh. Aaron smiled, glad that Kecleon was ok. He looked to see where they were heading and could see Professor Oak's lab in the distance.
--------
"Ah, Aaron! The last time I saw you, were only a foot tall!" Professor Oak grined and shook Aaron's hand. Aaron managed a nervous smile.

"Um... My mum couldn't really make it, she sent me instead." He said. Professor Oak just nodded.

"Yes, she is a very busy women." He then started to talk with Ash and Brock, the man who had rescued Aaron from being eaten by crazy pokemon.

"Dratini!" Nikki cried, her pokemon flying to her feet. The Spearow circled round, Nikki not knowing their intentions. She bent down, carressing him gently. "I'm sorry. Just wanted a little experience for you, that's all.." she whispered, pulling out another pokeball.

"Growlithe!" she called, the pokeball opening to reveal her second pokemon. Her fur around her snout and down her chest was a fire red rather than its normal yellow color.

The small firey dog jumped around excitedly. She hadn't been out of her pokeball for a while now. The swarm of Spearow suddenly scattered. Nikki looked in the sky, startled by its sudden calm emptyness.

"Um... Growlithe? Come over here.."

Nikki motioned a hand to her disappointed pokemon. She hopped over, and pushed her head under Nikki's arm. Growlithe looked to her, as if asking her a question. "I don't know where they went," she answered. Startled at first, Nikki wondered why she understood.

But before she could think more about it, she heard the cries of even larger pokemon.

".. Fearow."

The first Fearow came into view quickly and, Nikki decided, must have been the one crowing. The next few Fearow approached from behind her house. And the rest of the swarm flew up and circled around her backyard. Nikki stood up, clinging to Dratini, and watching her Growlithe take a fighting stance.

"How can she take all of those Fearow? Maybe one, and possibly two. But not at once. This doesn't look good," she thought to herself. But she convinced herself to put a little faith in Growlithe, and give her a shot.

"Growlithe! Ember!" Her pokemon eagerly jumped at the closest Fearow, small flames popping from her mouth and soon engulfing her. The small tornado of fire rushed at the Fearow and burned it severly. Nikki and her pokemon cheered as the opponent fell to the ground.

But she soon learned that for every one you defeat, four more take its place.

"Growlithe! In the house!" she shouted, slamming open the back door, waiting for her to catch up. "Hurry!" she cried, seeing several Fearow attempt to pick her up, and miss barely. She watched anxiously as her pokemon bounded in between the large beaks of swooping Fearow.

But Growlithe was knocked off balance by a Fearow swooping too close. As she fell to the ground, Nikki ran out to her, though she knew she couldn't make it before the swarm. "Dad!! Mom!!" she called. But they didn't come quick enough.

Just as she was about to loose hope for her Growlithe, an Arcanine jumped in, grabbed her by the fur, and walked calmly over to Nikki, dropping her at her feet. "What the..?!" Nikki began, but stopped to check on her Growlithe. She let Dratini down, since he seemed to be able to balance on his own, and checked Growlithe for injury.

"She's fine!" Nikki smiled to Dratini. She looked up to thank Arcanine, but it and the Fearow were all gone. "Huh..?" she asked. She turned to hear her mother shouting, "I'm trying, dear! I'll be out there in a second!" She turned back to see a young man kneeling before her, petting her hyper Growlithe.

"Who are you?" He smiled and stood up. "My name's Gary. Gary Oak. My grandpa is asking to bring everyone I can back to his lab. And I noticed you were in a bit of trouble," he explained, sounding almost as if he were bragging.

"Thank you," she smiled, standing up as well. She returned her Growlithe to her pokeball, then watched her mother and father rush into the backyard. "Nikki!" they shouted in unison, "Who's that?" "This is--" "Hi, I'm Gary Oak," he boasted, as if they should know his name.

"Ah. The professer's ego-maniacle grandson?" her father spoke out. "Michael!" "Oops. Sorry, honey," he chuckled, scratching the back of his head. Nikki sighed, embarrassed by her parents' behavior.

"Well, Gary, I remember you," Angelina smiled, sending an annoyed look at her husband, then looking back at Gary. "It's been a while. I met you when you returned after you took on the elite four. You lost, didn't you?"

"Yeah. But that's not the point!" he sneered. Nikki's parents smiled at eachother. "He's taking me to the Professor's lab," Nikki spoke out. "Oh? Should we come, too?" her mother asked. "If you want. But Arcanine can only carry two." "That's okay," Michael smiled, "I have a Gyrados."

Gary raised an eyebrow, but said nothing more. He released Arcanine again, then held out a hand for Nikki. She crawled up, then held out her hands for Dratini. He jumped up happily, and slithered into a circle in her lap. "Hold on tight. He's a bit fast," Gary smiled. Nikki wrapped her arms around him tightly, then prepared for Arcanine to leap away.

Even though she was holding on, Arcanine's speed nearly jolted her and Dratini off.

"Nikki?" She turned to see Noelle. "Oh! Hi Noelle. How'd you get here? Gary take you, too?" "No, Ash came to get me," she pointed to the young man speaking with the Professor. When Gary came in, Ash glared at him.

"Old rivals?" Nikki thought to herself as the two shook hands. Both seemed to want the other to let go first, as if they competed at everything. "Yep," she chuckled as she thought. She glanced to the window. Her parents were outside, fighting off swarms that attempted to enter the building.

OOC: Hehe, this won't be very interesting but I don't have much to do...

Jon was running down the dusty road, with Eevee running beside him, Gastly flying up above and Squirtle clinging to his shoulder tightly. It took awhile, but Squirtle managed to blast the Fearow away, it learnt its lesson. It shouldn't bother them again... but the other wild pokemon would.

"Rattata!" Jon growled, stopping in a skid when he saw atleast five Rattata before him, all lined up and staring at him with their fangs hanging out and their eyes red. "Squirtle! Water gun!" Jon shouted, pointing towards the Rattata. Squirtle chanted his name, and leapt off Jon's shoulder, firing a fierce water gun from his mouth while in the air. The rat pokemon leapt back, and some got hit, most running away.

More pokemon came forward, but nothing Jon couldn't handle.

"Eevee, you tackle the Rattata and Squirtle, you take on the Pidgey!" Jon yelled. To his left were Pidgey and in front of him were a growing number of Rattata. Eevee and Squirtle ran off to attack their share, and while Jon was about to relax a little he heard the screech of a Fearow.

Looking up, Jon noticed it was the same one, attacking Gastly. "Return!" Jon reutnred his Gastly before it could be attacked by Fearow, but that didn't stop the Fearow from noticing him. It looked around for awhile, then saw Jon, and darted towards him. It swooped down low, and missed Jon on purpose to scare him, causing a gust of wind and sand to flick up again.

As the Fearow came down for another shot, Squirtle turned around from the Pidgey and fired a water gun up at the Fearow, hitting it on the head and soaking its feathers. The Fearow backed off a little, screeched, and then turned, looking like it was leaving for good.

"Quick, we have to get up to the lab, I'm guessing that's where everyone is." Jon said, seeing flame attacks coming from Oak's lab. "Eevee, return!" Jon pointed his pokeball at Eevee and returned it, keeping Squirtle out just incase he ran into anymore pokemon. The Rattata behind him followed quickly, but Squirtle backed them off with a slash of water from his mouth.

Coming up to the lab, Jon could see even more pokemon running around like there was a fire, and seeing the attacks near the lab Jon was wondering if there was going to be a fire.

"Damn, look at that! That stupid Fearow's at it again, looks like we've made an enemy." Jon growled looking up to see the Fearow still screeching above him. "That's it, Gastly, Eevee, Squirtle, let's get this Fearow off our-"

"Get inside, quick!" One of the adult trainers shouted, running up to Jon. He wasn't sure who it was, but it was someone Jon had seen before.

Jon looked back up at the Fearow, wanting to take it on, but quickly obeyed the trainer and ran into the lab.

Noelle sat with Nikki and watched as Jon entered the lab. Aaron was across the room, standing at the window by the door, watching Misty, Brock, and Gary do their things.

Noelle heard Ash say, "I don't know. I just really got settled in, Professor. Leaving Pallet again and then coming back would be... well, I just don't like the idea of it."

"But Ash, this is important!" snapped Oak. He lowered his voice and said, "This Control Ball is a very dangerous device, that's why Lorelei entrusted you with keeping it."

"And I failed!" yelled Ash.

Just then, the doors opened and Misty and Brock walked in. They knew the look on Ash's face. It was a look of anger, disappointment, and resentment.

Noelle couldn't believe what she had heard. Ash, the Pokèmon Champion, declining saving the very freedom of Pokèmon? Even she, one who didn't want to train Pokèmon, knew that this was more important than anything that had happened before.

Without thinking, she leaped to her feet and spun around. "I'll do it!" she blurted out.

Oak, Ash, Brock, Misty, Katherine, Jon, Nikki, and Aaron just stared at her.

"If she's going, I'm going with her," Nikki said, standing beside Noelle.

Jon nodded silently and came to stand beside Noelle and Nikki.

"My mother would appreciate if I helped," said Aaron.

Professor Oak sighed. "Very well."

"No!" exlaimed Noelle's mother. "You don't know how dangerous this is, Noelle. This isn't going and battling Gym Leaders and getting badges. This is to stop whoever --- Team Rocket, or someone worse --- from controlling all the Pokèmon in the world."

"I know that, mom. But I think this will be a good thing for me. It might very well open a new book for me so that I can finally develop relationships with Pokèmon. Mom, this is my calling."

Katherine had a hesitant look on her face, but nodded slowly.

"It's set. You will travel to Viridian City first," said Oak.

Suddenly, a phone rang, and everyone turned to Brock. He took a cell out of his pocket and pressed a button. Someone on the other end must have delivered some bad news, because Brock's face went rigid. He pushed another button on the phone and put it back in his pocket.

He said, "The Gyms have been closed. All of them in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn."

"Go, now," Ash said, turning to the kids.

And they all left the lab.

Aaron smiled, happy that he wouldn't be looking for the ball by himself. He enjoyed traveling with people. The parents who were there said their good-byes and all four of them left the lab at once. They stoped and all sort of looked at each other, not really sure what to do. Aaron and the boy Jon were the only two who had traveling supplies with them.

"Maybe we should stop by your houses and get some supplies..." Aaron suggested to the two girls. They both nodded and they headed off in seperate directions. Aaron would go with Noelle to her house and Jon with Nikki, they would meet back at the dirt road path that lead to Viridian City.

"Pack as fast as you can, we need to hurry and leave before something worse happens." Noelle told Nikki and then they seperated.

Most of the wild pokemon had been chased off by the resident of Pallet and only a few small battles were now going on. They eventually stoped at a two story house. The door had claw marks engraved on it and some of the henges were barely attached.

"I'll just be a second!" Noelle said and quickly ran into the messed up house.

sorry that's short, i'm in a hurry.

"How long have you known Noelle?" Jon asked her. Nikki turned towards him, still stuffing the things she had picked out into her bag. "A long time. We live in the same town, afterall," she replied, turning back to her bedspread. Dratini curled up on her pillow, still tired from his battle earlier.

"We live in the same town, too," Jon added. "I know." "How long have we known eachother?" "I don't know. I probably have seen for a long time. I just never talked to you that much, I guess," she told him. He nodded silently, then waited at her door as she finished.

"Okay. Lets go," Nikki sighed, walking up to him. Jon held out his hands, chuckling, "Ladies first." She smiled, then walked out past him, Dratini circled around her right arm.

They walked out towards the dirt path that the group had agreed to meet at. "We're here first," she muttered. "Wonder if anything bad happened?" Jon asked after a pause. The two stood there silent, before they heard a loud screech.

"Fearow!" they shouted in unison. "Is that.." Jon began, summoning Gastly to his side. "Nikki!" She turned to see Noelle and Aaron running towards her, followed by a swarm of Nincada. "Jon.." she started. Noelle and Aaron were signaling for the two of them to run ahead. "Jon, come on. I think we should go," she suggested, tugging at his arm. "No. I'm going to--" "Now! You're going to be attacked by all of those!" she shouted, turning his head towards the advancing bugs.

She heard him swear, then followed as he rushed off towards a patch of shorter grass. "They're catching up," Nikki commented. "The bugs?" "No, the others," she clarified. They reached the short grass, and hid under a large tree, waiting for the others. "Got your stuff?" Nikki greeted Noelle casually. The two smiled.

"We go to Viridian now, right?" Noelle asked. "Yeah. But that stupid Fearow's gonna keep chasing us. The Nincada won't come past the entrance to this road, though." "Why?" Aaron wondered. "How should I know?" Nikki replied. "Maybe there are bigger pokemon that they're afraid of or something," Jon suggested. "Whatever. I don't care. I just want to get to the next town," Nikki sighed.

"Okay, lets go, then," Jon smiled, running off down the path. "Hey! Wait up, dammit!" Nikki cried, running after him with Noelle and Aaron.
