Whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah (think I spelled that right), Quanza, or any other similar holiday, everyone has at least one tradition. What are they?

Christmas morning, while unwrapping gifts, we usually listen to music. Up until my sister moved out four years ago, she picked what we listen to. Ever since then, it's my duty. *big grin* I think I'm choosing Josh Groban's Closer this year, since it's calming.

And on Christmas Eve, we always go out and drive through several different roads of Jackson and look at the Christmas displays. They used to be spectacular when I was a kid! But now, half of the houses aren't decorated, and it really is dishearting.

Well, I wouldn't really call this a tradition, but my family always opens one present on the night of Christmas Eve. My parents would bring a present for each of us upstairs, (The Santa Thing done and overwith). It would always be something small, like a CD, but it's something.

My family listens to all sorts of Christmas music during December, but during Christmas day, we do different stuff. My brothers and I all wake up at like... 5am ( I think 4am was the record) to open presents. Then, after that, we have to throw away all the wrapping paper which sucks. Then we usually have to clean up the house for Christmas dinner at my house, but this year we're having it at my aunt's house.

my fam. doesn't really have a tradition, but we normally open one present chritsmas eve, then the rest in the morning, my mom listens to a BUNCH of christmas music which drives me up a wall cause it's stuff that'll put the dead to sleep, other than that nuthing really, bug dinner and maybe a friend'll stop in. MY family is boring but I live with them so I love them.

Every Christmas Eve my family congregates with the rest of the family and we have a really good time. I always look forward to Christmas Eve, because I like spending time with the rest of my family quite a bit. The only real Christmas Day tradition that we have is that we go out and see a movie every year. This year we'll be seeing A Series of Unfortunate Events.

My family has a few traditions. On christmas eve, we go over to my Grandparents house and spend the day with them, which is where I am now a day early, which is no problem ^-^. Then that night, we open presents at their house and just have a very good family gathering. We end up leaving near midnight often.

Then on christmas day, my family is weird about this, but we sleep in until about 8 or so, and then wait until after breakfast (really an early lunch time wise), and then open our presents. All while just enjoying eachother's company, since we don't all get to be in the same room often. My parents work A LOT, so this is great family time. It is like this most holidays and on most of the weekends/days off. ^-^ My family is special that way.

Every Christmas eve my grandparents come over to our house at some time before 11 (no clue when) and then at 11 we always go to the latest Christmas eve service at church (and this year I actually get to acolyte in it! Yay!) Then when we drive home we usually look at all the Christmas decorations. We always listen to 97.1 (which is playing Dominique the Donkey right now! Yes!) On Christmas day we go to dinner at one of our family members house and the next day our hole family goes up to a ski resort to ski and we stay there till past new years. (Lately we?ve been going up to Blue Knob, PA because we recently bought a house up there!)

Interesting, most interesting.

My family's traditions are pretty usual, more Christmas Eves we usually get a bunch of relations who come over and have drinks and food, then we either play cards or monopoly until about two in the morning. Christmas Day is usually just the family going to mass in the morning and then coming back and opening up most of the presents. Although before the "big secret" got out it was usually myself and my brother getting up at about 4 AM going down stairs and looking for presents. Tomorrow we'll probably just go to mass, come home and open the rest of the presents from one another and then just watch a movie and eat dinner, simple but fun.

Ah, Christmas traditions. Things, as all things, changed over time. Now that all the "kids" are grown up we meet up at my parents' house and we eat a huge lunch together. Usually it is my parents, my hubby, me, my brother, my inlaws and my brother inlaw. We have the "traditional" holiday fare of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, rice, sushi...you know, the usual. We open presents after that and play games while listening to holiday music. It's always a good time.

After Christmas but before the New Year my family makes mochi. Mochi is a traditional Japanese sweet rice cake that you eat on New Year's Day. We have been doing this family tradition for years and years. One of my favorite memories was being at my grandparent's house as a little kid and making mochi with my entire family. This is definitely one tradition that will never change. :D

Haha, I think Christmas is my favorite time of year because of our traditions! My family usually decorates the tree sometime during the week before x-mas day, and we always, always put on x-mas music while we work. It would actually probably feel too strange not to have Amy Grant or Anne Murray singing Silent Night and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. It wouldn't feel Christmasy, although, Christmasy is a difficult feeling to manage anyway in southern California with no snow and 70 degree weather in December o_0
Oh, and my mom makes cookies too! There these little jam filled ones sprinkled with powdered sugar, and they are really good. I look forward to those even more than presents!
Then on Christmas day, we've almost always had relatives over, usually my aunt and uncle and my grandparents. We listen to more music, eat, drink, and just generally be merry ^_^ It's fun, and reminds me of how much I love my family.
