Anime Do You Like Demons in Anime?

[COLOR=RoyalBlue][FONT=Comic Sans MS]Do you like the idea of demons in Anime? I do, and I have several favorites. I like Hiei because his element is my favorite ( fire rules! :flaming: ). He also interests me with his dark attitude. Yoko Kurama is also a favorite of mine because I love foxes and wolves, and it's awesome how he was smart enough to take over a human to survive. Sesshomeru's cool because he has an awesome dog form, and I love his nickname (Fluffy). Koga rocks because I love wolves and I would love his power to control wolves. Finally, there's Shippo, the only litle kid demon. He's cute, and he can change into anything he wants (love his tail, too). If you have a favorite demon, please tell me about him/her.[/FONT][/COLOR]

Demons kind of general, I think they're sort of played out honestly. But if you DONT mean demon in the literal sense, then i have a few favorites.

Legato is a DEMON! Super hell of an evil bastard. [spoiler]Causing someone ultimate pain and suffering by forcing them to put a bullet in your head.[/spoiler]

Oh yeah, and of course, the "demons" that appear in both the ninja scroll series and movie.

:flaming: fire :flaming: ice, dog, wolf, or fox, demons rock. I have to say though, hanyous are kawaiier! ;) Anyway, Hiei is awesome, and so is INUYASHA! w00t! :sweat: anyway.. demons + anime= match made in heaven.

This thread got off to a nice start (thank you very much, Hiei's_lil_girl, for paying attention to my earlier suggestions). However, I'd like everyone to keep in mind that post quality is important. Try to follow the topic creator's example; she has done an excellent job of explaining why she's fond of the demons she listed.

Anyway, I can't remember whether or not Ryoko (from the Tenchi franchise) is actually a literal demon. It's been so long since I watched that show. But if she is, she would have to be one of my favorite demons--assertive, absolutely gorgeous and capable of kicking some serious ***, yet still occasionally gentle and shy. Her selflessness in Tenchi Universe simply blew me away.

Demons are a nice addition but they are not necessary.... Hey look at several of the great anime's without them Such as Cowboy Bebop and Ranma 1/2 they are great and need not the help of using the demons.

:babble: But me in particular, I love the way that demons are portrayed in Inuyasha. Mainly because they run in tribes, but also because some are blood-thirsty and vicious, and others are just powerful and high maintenance (i.e. Sesshomaru, Naraku, etc.). I also like the way that demons are potrayed in Princess Mononoke, but instead of demons, they're called gods.[/color][/font]

[COLOR=#503F86]I think it entirely depends on the genre of anime it's shoved into. Obviously, a demon in a romantic comedy probably needs a great deal more script-working in order for it to sit properly and not look out of place. With things like Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho which are pretty much written around demons in the first place, it's obvious to see how they work.

RahXephon never had any 'demons' as such, and I don't think it lost out as a result. More fantastical series like Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop had their share of demonic [i]things[/i], but they weren't integral to the plot.

So really, I couldn't care less so long as they don't seem out of place.[/COLOR]

Well demons in serious animes like Gundam or Cowboy Bebop would just suck. But demons in something like Naruto would be and are sweet. :wigout: :laugh:

Demons in anime are pretty cool depending of course on the type...my favorites are..


Yoko Kurama - because he's tricky, and calm and collected like Sesshoumaru with just a bit more emotion

Legato - Because he's just plain crafty, evil yes, but he has talent....

Hakudoushi - (SLIGHT SPOILER) [spoiler]he's from Inuyasha if you don't know[/spoiler]......he's just cool....he kind of has Kanna's creepy atmosphere because his form is that of a child....but he's wicked strong

InuTaisho - Inuyasha/Sesshoumaru's Dad....you don't ever see much of him....but gathered from stories and such....he was a noble demon who believed in having something to protect and looked after his family....he was also incrediably strong..I think his compassion only making him stronger


Karasu - (YYH) he was a pretty cool demon for an evil guy...the fight between Yoko Kurama and Karasu was probably the best fight I ever watched in Yu Yu Hakusho....w00t

Sesshoumaru - I like Sesshoumaru because even though he seems cold as ice and indifferent he always does things now and then especially with Rin around that show us a glims at a would be heart inside... :D

[color=darkviolet]Well, if having demons in an anime makes sense then I'm all for it. For example, Takahashi's InuYasha would make absolutely no sense if there wasn't atleast once demon since Yasha is another word for demon.

Or some kind of magical girl anime where the main characters need villains to fight. SailorMoon did pretty well with pleanty of demonic youma to fight against. Ok so the plot became redundant, but the demon thing worked.

However, if demons make no sense I wouldn't like them in anime. I think Princess 9 and Angelic Layer do pretty well without them. I don't know where demons would fit in with girls trying to play baseball alongside boys.

So in conclusion I think that as long as demons are necessary to an anime's success and don't seem silly they should be allowed in anime.[/color]

hey whats a good anime with out a few demons in the mix, i'm sure everyone would rather have demons in there animes, as long as it fits the story line, i mean you cant just pop a demon into Cowboy Bebop you need some kind of a crazy mad man for that....lmao but sure you could in inuyasha...

Demons in animes gets a A+ from me...^_~
