QuincyArcher
A friend of mine turned introduced me to this series a few weeks ago, and after watching the first couple episodes I became hooked. I couldn't find any existing threads for School Rumble so I thought i'd go ahead and start one. The general plot for this series seemed fairly run-of-the-mill at first sight, dealing with an average Japanese high school and the students and their various 'crushes' and i was kind of reluctant to get into it at first. But characters in this show is what hooked me. All of the characters in this show are extremely diverse and have their own little hillarious quirks, after just a few episodes Tenma Tsukamoto is already one of my favorite characters in anime. I guess one of the best ways to describe this series is that it's like a combination of Love Hina and Azumanga Daioh, so if you're a fan of either i would highly recommend it. Anyway, has anyone else been watching this series? your thoughts/opinions on it?
Dagger
It's a fun series, reminiscient of both Sensei no Ojikan (a personal favorite) and Azumanga Daioh. But for me the jokes are pretty hit-and-miss--I have to be in the right mood to watch the show, or else it's just sort of annoying. The mini-episodes are nicely paced, though, and I've never felt as though School Rumble was actually wasting my time. I particularly loved the episode with the portrait-drawing, as well as the Initial D cameo which appeared early on in the anime. Tenma's obsession with that oddly named samurai television drama is always hilarious. The OP and ED themes are great! I really could listen to them all day. As for favorite characters, I can't say I have any--Tenma's antics and antennae are cute, but she's sort of empty between the ears. To me it looks as though Harima is slowly starting to replace her as the main character. ~Dagger~
Noside
Great anime with some really funny scenes. Dagger's dead on with the mention of the hit and miss jokes. I was the only one who caught the Initial D cameo, but everyone still laughed that they were faster than cars. The opener and closer themes easily get stuck in my head from time to time. Favorite character's gotta be the biker(his name escapes me at the moment). His attempts are hilarious and expressions crack me up. Only seen a few episodes, but this is definately an anime I suggest to people who like to have a laugh.
Dagger
So has anyone been watching the latest episodes? I ask because I haven't bothered to keep up with School Rumble (not since the whole Media Factory fiasco). I figured that it would get licensed (not fake-licensed, real-licensed) sometime in 2005 anyway, and it's not exactly the kind of show that keeps you up at night wondering what's going to happen. Would you say that continuing to follow School Rumble now--rather than later--is worth it? ~Dagger~
QuincyArcher
So far i've watched up through episode 10 of [W-F]'s subs and i would say it's still worth keeping up with. when i watched episode 9 i had kinda thought the series had hit a low point with the entire episode just focusing on Harima sulking and being depressed, but then i watched episode 10 and it seems like they had picked it up again, the whole thing with the animal fortune telling and the curry shop was hilarious. It looks like they just released episode 11 too, so we'll see how that one goes.
Sanada
I just recentl y got into School Rumble. I found it to be quite amusing, but sometimes the jokes aren't my kind of humor.. Another good thing about this serie is that the voice acting is very good (IMHO) I just LOVE the seiyuu for Yakumo and Akira! Harima's seiyuu does a pretty good job too, and so does Tenma's, although I needed to 'warm up' to her voice at first. Anyway, Anyone knows how much episodes the show is scheduled for? I hope it's gonna be a 26 episode series, or shorter, definately not longer.. That'll kill the humor.
