SPAM area

A Spam area would only deteriorate the quality of Otaku Boards. The moderators and many other OBers have worked really hard to keep OB a quality place, a place (relatively) free of topics like:

do u thik kagome is hott?! i do. she is hot. she should b wit inuyasha!11!1!11one!

And aside from that, a spam area has no real use, except take up space and rot away the boards. I'm sure other people will explain what I mean in greater detail, but for now, just know that it will never happen.

Wow, now "spam" is some kind of acronym? I guess you really do learn something new every day. ^_^;;

Out of [strike]morbid[/strike] curiosity, what makes you think that people want to read stupid, pointless and annoying messages?

The hilarity? Though you could just get a myOtaku and wait for people to sign your guestbook. I guarantee that within minutes you'll have plenty of pointless and annoying messages. :D

If you look at KyZeR's other posts, you'd realize the new member would feel most at home in a SPAM area. I think that's the motivation here.

O_o

Boards with spam areas are often unable to contain the utter garbage that goes on within them. It's a mindset. I come to Otakuboards for intelligent conversation. I visit GroupSounds for humor. I frequent my guild forums for spam and nothing of note, really.

I'd bet you money that if OB were to have even a spam thread, posts of the caliber would show up more frequently in other places as well. It's like opening Pandora's box.

Wow, a SPAM area (Love the acronym) would just so kick-***. Why don't we put up like, 7 forums of SPAM? [/sarcasm]

I couldn't even being to imagine what kind of stupid, pointless, annoying, messages would be posted! lol

That's all I got to say. :D

Ahem.

Yeah, I think everyone's pretty much answered this question. I think I need to create an enormous message on OB that points to the rules page. Basically, we pretty much describe what we view as spam there. Other forums have different rules about spam, but yeah, to each his own.

I've frequented a board with a SPAM area for some time, and, while the idea behind it looks good on paper, (that if we give the spam an areas to be in, then the rest of the board can be quality). it just doesn't work.

This other board, which I won't name here, is still a great, fun place to be, it's just it has tons of mindless garbage that seeps from it's rants and spam forums like a virus.

And that's why, it's a bad idea to have a spam forum. ;)

I'm all for a giant popup for new members, which directs them to the Rules page. You know, one of those annoying ones which you can never close? And it stays there until they've scrolled to the bottom of the Rules page ;)

Oh, and it has to flash in gaudy colours.

I dunno, maybe someone could explain to me the concept of a forum solely for SPAM, please? It seems to me that habits formed while posting in that forum would eventually leak over into other forums.

Its not like posts are that hard to write. They just need to be concise enough that we understand what people are saying. And that can be done, even if you don't have a complete grasp on grammar and the English language. I'm not an English teacher by any means, but writing a message that all can understand doesn't come that hard.
