This legend started in the times of ancient Rome. Five women were discovered with extraordinary talents in the black arts of death. The Black Maidens of the Vestal Virgins ? protectors of the weak, abused and suppressed.

On the discovery of these Maidens, the Emperor of Rome hired them and posted them at various points in the northern parts of the Empire ? present day France, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Russia. The Black Maidens singularly helped the Roman Army defeat many powerful foes. With peace now spread over the land, the Maidens were rewarded with large lots of land to settle on in their respective regions.

There lies the roots of the Black Maidens Legend ? 2000 years on.[/I] ?

Isabelle closed the old tattered book gently, after making an inscription in it. It was time for the five Black Maidens to ally together once again. The last time their lethal skills were needed was in World War II.

However, a much more threatening and destructive force now loomed over an unsuspecting world. There were already indications of what was to come in the dark future. Bombings in main populace areas in Europe and throughout Asia. A surge in weapons trading and knowledge in the black market. All were signs Isabelle and her predecessors as the Priestesses of Vesta, hoped wouldn?t appear during their reign.

A strange combination of features she has: black hair, gray eyes and pale rose lips. Since she got a chin-length haircut, bad hair days (which she had always been susceptible to) stopped coming. She?s usually seen in her uniform but totally abhors its color. She prefers red over any color and is very sentimental which might explain why, from her notable collection of gloves (last count=46 pairs) her favorite is a pair of red gloves her father gave her.

Background Story:
A policewoman who sidelines as a novelist. She?s currently working on her fifth book, A Sky of Strobes.

Farsightedness had always been both a gift and an obstacle for our Sasha. Though she is able to easily knock off a liquor bottle at 300 yards, she is seen as a scrutinizing woman because of the unpleasant squint she gives people she meets for the first time.

Her life has been pretty uneventful, save for odd tidbits like her mother had been training her in marksmanship since she was 5 and that her father died in the same line of work she is in now (and that he had always warned her not to follow his footsteps). She liked both her parents? jobs so much that she pursued both careers. By the way, it is worth mentioning that her mother was also policewoman; the novelist of the family was her father.

Oh and there?s that issue about her lovelife being, well, dead. She says, ?Not true.?

Appearance: Angelina has long black hair, down to her thighs, which is held back with a headband decorated in skull patterns. Her skin is tan, and her body quite curvy. Her eyes are green, which is uncommon for a Spanish woman. She wears hooded black shirts (not jackets) with, as you could have guessed, skull patterns. She wears a long, low-rider skirt knitted by her great-grandmother with what look like red rivers. And on her feet, she either wears sandals or black, knee-high boots.

History: Angelina was born into a decently rich family, with 3 older sisters and an older brother, and followed by 3 more younger sisters. Her mother and sisters all made rugs and paintings and pots to sell in the town. Her brother would go to school, and she rarely saw her father. And, up until he died when she was 7, she had no idea what he did for a living. As it turned out, he was a hitman working for the government and earning enough money to buy his family a decent house on the outskirts of the small Spanish town.

After his death, however, their tiny fortune began to dissolve. Her brother was "adopted" into the Hitman profession at the age of 18, when Angelina was 10. He was not seen again until Angelina was 15. But while he was away, Angelina's oldest sister traveled to America illegally, eventually going to college and getting married to a Spanish-American business man. Her other two older sisters both stayed in Spain and married into rich families to support themselves and their mother. They would send in some money once a month, and would visit often.

When Angelina turned old enough to be married off, however, her mother gave her a skirt hand-sewn by her great-grandmother. And she also told Angelina the story of her ancestors. They had all been great assassins in the past. And, when each woman in the family came of age, they were invited by their mother to join the profession, whether or not they, themselves, had adopted the tradition. Angelina's mother had not chosen to follow in her mother's footsteps, nor had Angelina's older sister's. But Angelina was amazed. She accepted immediatly, and was shipped off to Northern Spain to train with a family friend.

There, she spent two years training, and she learned fast. Very fast.

[B]Appearance:[/B] Adrianna stands a fashionable 5'4 with velvet black hair that hangs past her shoulders; dark brown eyes that look almost black, but with hints of hazel; and a vuluptuous body that holds no secret. Her beautiful body makes heads turns, jaws drop, and women smack their significant others' heads. It's amazing as to how men react when a beautiful woman walks in, but they never realize the beautiful woman that stands next to them.

On her upper body, Adrianna wears black or dark colored business suits more often than not, but beneath the business tops, she wears casual, but formal type shirts. She also wears a black, silk jacket that comes a little past her waist. She is rarely seen wearing any other color than black or dark colors. Adrianna is known for her dark style and therefore intimidates people when she meets them. She has her ear lobes double pierced, her left cartilage pierced, her tongue pierced, and the last is her navel. She also wears a silver ring with three obsidians embedded into it and something engraved on the inside, and over her hands are gloves- she wears certain gloves depending on the weather, where she is going, and what she is doing. Around her neck is a silver chain that comes down to her sternum and on that silver chain is a black spider with a circular black stone on its mouth, as well as a spider wrapped around a miniature dagger.

Business pants, pinstripe pants, whatever feels comfortable is what Adrianna wears. She is never seen wearing a dress or a skirt, she wears pants only, but if she feels that she wants to feel comfortable, she wears shorts. She also wears black boots, high heels, or formal wear.

But when it comes down to it, Adrianna also wears her [URL=http://www.desktopheroes.net/images/496_catwoman4_800.jpg]black suit[/URL] when her business suits get in the way (excluding the cat-like hat and glasses).

Not many can say that Adrianna is the one to wear casual wear. She is rarely seen wearing anything else other than formal. It simply puts her as the business woman that everyone knows her to be.

[B]History:[/B] Born into a life of crime, Adrianna is known for who she is, where she came from, and what she does. She is the epitome of the italian mob boss, the exact replica of a mafia leader. She represents the Corinthos mafia to a 'T', yet no one says otherwise. She was born into a life where crime happened everyday, where life was threatened, yet she grew into a woman who feared nothing. She was introduced to her father's lifestyle, Adrianna was not ashamed to say that she was the daughter of the wealthiest, respected, and most feared man on earth. She was not afraid of her heritage, nor was she afraid to accept it.

[U]Vipera Lama[/u] - Unlike many others, Adrianna uses a whip called the Viper Blade, or Vipera Lama. It is a whip that has spikes on it and tears away at the skin of anyone who is entangled in it. It is also poisonous and can be quite deadly. Many say that is resembles a viper and the way it strikes.

[B]Skills:[/B] Strong, agile, nimble, stealthy, accurate, and reflexive. Adrianna is known to be the entrepreneur of the group, the business woman who handles all affairs. She is also the tomboy, the fighter, but, then again, they all are fighters. Adrianna is labeled the dark one, as her name suggests. She keeps to herself and is known to be quite like a shadow if needed.

Another talent that Adrianna holds is the talent to read people. She is able to know who people truly are, what fears they hold, what desires they have, whether or not they tell lies or truths. Adrianna is known as a seer, an empath, a telepath, even, for the way she knows people the moment they look at her. She is also deadly with any weapon in her hand, particularly those of japanese descent.

Appearence: Vahn stands about 4'8", and has burgundy colored eyes, with stark black hair down to his ankles. He wears what seems to be a miko's outfit, but it is made for a man. It follows no traditional colors, it is only black, and he wears fishnet-style clothiong underneath. His other outfit is a naval school uniform, and it is black, with brass buttons to fasten it.

Bio: Vahn is the best assassin in the world, and his past is locked away inside his mind, far from his own child-like curiousity. He knows no allies, only the underground, and the languages of the world. He's a skilled medic, a photographer, a school boy, a master swordsman, a bargainer, a conesuier, and a master of persuasion. He is much more, too much to tell.

History: a bright student and promising young gymnast is high school; Paul enlisted in the Special Forces. Four years latter he was deployed in Bolivia as part of a black Opps mission. The mission was a failure and lieutenant Bayl was the only surviving member of the operation, something he saw or did affected him deeply and he was discharged shortly after his recovery as a ?section 8?. Paul became withdrawn and depressed which resulted in alcoholism followed by a messy divorce. Almost a year latter owing a great deal of money he was forced into his first contract, a three man hit in Amsterdam. There after he began to freelance, building up a reputation as a man who excelled at what he did. His exposure to advanced electronics and lethal tactics make him a force to be reckoned with. However heatless he seems he is haunted by the blood that stains his soul, unable to shake the past he stumbles forward from pay check to pay check.

Appearance: Chris looks good for someone who sees blood on a day-to-day basis. He has a very creamy complexion with chestnut brown hair and blue eyes. He has a medium build, weighing 160 lbs. This is on a 6'0" frame. Chris is usually seen sporting a brown trenchcoat that covers his hunting knife and Beretta. He wears a black muscle shirt with blue jeans and brown boots under the trenchcoat. He also carries a strand of fishing wire in the chest pocket of his trenchcoat.

History: Chris doesn't have the codename Psycho for nothing. He is a ruthless, relentless killer. The only real thing known about Chris's history is that at the age of eighteen, something snapped inside of him and he murdered his parents. As he grew older, he had urges to kill more and more frequently. During these murders, he became more skilled in the art of assassination and began to grow confident in his skills. Of course, Chris began to offer his skills to any person, whether the victim is innocent or not. This assassin does not ask questions.
