i have a comic but i don't know where to put it.

many people say that keenspace.com is the best way to go, but they require an address and phone number which i am not willing to give out. someone told me you don't really have to give it out but i do not know if it is true or not.

so... is keenspace really the best? do you have to give out your real address and phone number? and if you do, what is the secondbest place to host a manga?
you could always toss it on geocities or tripod or some other such free web space... if you know anything about html?
yes i do but free web hosting always makes the site like... unavailable when too many people look at it

Right... The both of you need to put a bit more effort into posting in the future. Grammar and punctuation is a big part of staying around OB for a while. Keep that in mind, won't you?

Anywho, Keenspace does require that you give your information and that you have an FTP client to upload them.

It's also true that bandwidth can get used up pretty quickly on Tripod and the like with free webspace. So your best bet is to try to find some reasonably priced webspace and go from there.

Adam (the founder of the boards) runs a web hosting service called Velegant that's very good. You could give that a whirl.

Ohhhh great, now i get to use the evil shift key.... too bad it's not like word where it is automatically capitalizes... o_O; eh, anyway...........

I don't remember reading about FTP clients on keenspace... better go look that up. I'm kind of new to stuff like that so... maybe i should look into Drunk Duck instead. xD

I've recently found some webspace called HostUltra which apparently offers unlimited bandwith for free. Has anyone else heard of it? Is it any good, or is there some hidden catch to it? x_X

I've heard DrunkDuck is quite good, but having browsed a few of their sites while deciding on hosting for my comic, I found that they're quite prescriptive with a lot of the stuff that goes in your site; that is, when people hit a link to your site, they can immediately say, "hey, it's one of those DrunkDuck sites". Personally I preferred to have a bit more freedom to adapt my site: the only things KeenSpace insists on are the ad banner at the top and the "this site hosted by KeenSpace" plug at the bottom.

As I told you before, it's true that KeenSpace ask for personal details, but a lot of people have the same reservations as you do so they're pretty lenient. Take a look at the Help Centre on the KeenSpace Forums and you'll find that Kisai doesn't really mind people putting zeroes for their phone number and '101 Imaginary Road' for their address, so long as that person doesn't then land themselves in legal trouble.

KeenSpace does have a lot of bugs in the signup system, but if you grit your teeth and trawl through the ENTIRE signup problems thread in the help centre it should arm you against any and all problems that come your way. And finally, yes, you do need an FTP client to upload your comics, but KeenSpace Gear has really good straightforward tutorials for that. I picked it up in about twenty minutes. I heartily recommend Core FTP; it's free and really simple to use.

Hope all that helps.

:Edit: RUN AND HIDE from any service that claims to offer unlimited bandwidth. It quite simply isn't possible and they're trying to fleece you.
