What was the reason you came to OB?

I was reffered by a friend at a birthday party. I was really looking for a board like this. I had been on G4's Boards and they were way too crazy. I joined and found that, while the rules are stricter than other boards, you can pretty much do whatever you want. It was also a plus that most people here aren't idiots. Why did you come?

I never posted in one of these threads, so why not start now?

I'm just a refugee from Kiji Anime. I joined Kiji Anime to discuss .hack, but due to obvious reasons, I left (and I brought a friend with me, haha). .hack was the first anime I really got into, and made me think more of anime than before. I had seen other animes (like DBZ, Ronin Warriors, etc.), but .hack is really what made me a fan of the medium.

It was a nice experience, as I learned a lot about the series by hanging out here. I decided to stick around since I was obviously going to watch other anime series. But really, if it weren't for Shy and Solo's very nice hospitality, I wouldn't have stuck around. So, blame them if you have a problem with my (omni)presence. :p

I actually came about three and a half years ago looking for Dragonball Z pictures to draw, haha. Back then, I was really into the show, and loved to draw various characters, so I typed something like.. "dragonball Z images" into Google and this page kept coming up. I ignored it for a while; this was covered in words, not pictures! How could I possibly find something to draw? After a while, I was starting to get really desperate because of lack of good images elsewhere, so I clicked the link which took me to the Dragonball forum on this board. Looking through, I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did stumble across many topics which I was eager to reply to. Somehow I managed to register to the forum under.. what was it now? I think it was something like.. gohan_rules#1. XD!! This was on June 6th, 2001.

I was quite the spammer when I started out, being the DBZ fanboy I used to be. In fact, I went to the very beginning of the Dragonball forum and tried to answer every single thread that I could, and eventually the members made a thread trying to stop me, haha, because moderators really didn't do anything back then.

I've obviously come a long way since then. :p

I kept looking for the name of the cat from Trigun. I stumbled on www.theotaku.com (the Trigun shrine) and found it. I wasn't a member on TheOtaku long, I just mainly looked at the fan art. :p

I wasn't too interested in this site until I was bored really late at night. I was looking around and just said what the hell, it's free, and joined. I really haven't been here long, I think I joined July 7th. First post: the Case Closed thread in the A.L.

My goodness.
I can't remember why I joined OB! Surely, the reason must have been related to anime.
I guess I was just looking for a nice anime forum. I didn't find what I was looking for but am still happy to be here.

Love and Peace!

I joined back in 2003, April. At first I was a crazy DBZ fan and was looking around, and I found theOtaku. I listened to music there, looked at the pictures, and then I found OB. I started off as a n00b among n00bs, but guess what? James gave me another chance, and it's a good job, because without OB I couldn't have become so mature. I learnt more things on OB than a lifetime of school and documentaries, all thanks to James and the moderators giving me a second chance (Mitch, for one, seemed to have been the most pissed off at me, I think anyway)

I originaly joined way back in V2 ( cant remember dates) Under a different name... When they switched from v2 to v3 i had to re register ( i beleive everyone did) So i got this new name... But it was a While after that i joined...

I joined originaly because i was looking for help with some games I had. Legend of Zelda games to be exact. I got the help i needed and sort of left... A year later or so I found OB again accidently and was like "Wait a moment.. .I remember this place" So i got a new account here and ov been here ever since... Which has been a very long time in my opinion. Most of my friends rom way back when have left... But i have stayed here... Mainly to RP..

The nameless (AKA Jake) was always messing around on this strange site when we'd hang out at his house. Being a big fan of anime and other sorts of these dramatical things,i quickly took Jake's advice to join up as soon as i could.
It was also a plus that most people here aren't idiots.
I'd have to disagree with that. Ive seen more sacreligous, egotistical, self inflated people on this site than ive seen in my whole life.

Well, I found this place because I was looking for quizes, and then found TheOtaku, which led me to OtakuBoards. The only reason I stuck around really was because... Well, my life at home kinda sucks. I'm a hillbilly, and the nearest kids are 2KM away, and only speak french, and, dispite living in a French area, speak very little french. So I rarley see my friends at home, so I dont really have much else to do besides Warcraft 3, and various other VGs.

The reason I came to otaku boards was not so long ago when I was even newer to anime. I had just been looking for something on Yu-Gi-Oh! And stumbled upon theotaku?s Yu-Gi-Oh! Shrine. I then being terribly new to anime explored it trying to find as much as I could about any anime there was. I suppose I was just looking around the site when I noticed otakuboards. That was when I was just joining any forums I saw (which is why I have this stupid user name! ^^) and so I immediately joined? I suppose it wasn?t too much later that I posted and now that I look back I was pretty ashamed at those posts. I think I managed to look like a total idiot and upset quite a few people. After a while I realized this so kinnda stopped posting until recently. I?ve seen more interesting topics and have the slightest bit of maturity so haven?t made (as big of a) fool of my self.

EDIT: oh I remember more of how I got from theotaku to otakuboards!! I think I actually fond theotaku when looking for .hack music. When I saw the jukebox I decided to try it and realized I had to be a myotaku member. I immediately registered so that I could listen to music and some how stumbled upon otakuboards.

and is it just me or was there another topic like this somewhat recently (it would have to be recent if I rember it! ^^) because I remember some of these stories...

I too, found this site through Google. lol

One day, I was looking for some good fanart sites, more specifically fan art of Evangelion. Well after looking through about 2 or 3 pages, I came across this site. It took me the the Evangelion "Shrine", and I was so impressed by it's quality that I decided to check out the rest of the site, eventually making my way here.

I had lost a link to another boards that I belonged to and was searching for it on Yahoo when I came across it. I just clicked the link and I thought it was good so I decided to join. Kinda funny, I first learned to Rp here.

And it's really interesting that most people found theOtaku first, while I found OB first.

I think the reason I joined was because of the different types of things that happened and the different types of forums.

Remember that little thing around 2001...you know, aah, what was it. Pokemon? Well, I was [strike]ludicrously obsessed[/strike]...[strike]mildly rabid[/strike]...kind of interested in it, and I stumbled over this place whilst browsing. I drifted away within weeks due to lack of a home PC, and then one boring afternoon in May 2003, I remembered it and came back.

And I still haven't left.

I was drawn into the OtakuBoards via theOtaku. I was wandering around Goggle looking for something to kill time, like an anime quiz. I soon started to wander around the network and came across the message boards. The very first thing I noticed was the heavy moderation of the boards. Most of message boards that I had signed up for in the past had very spammy threads of very little quality. Here on the OtakuBoards there were actual discussions going on!

Free time on the internet brought me here, the quality of threads and interesting people keep me here.

I joined because my friend Anna (I'm sure that NO ONE remembers her) was a member and I thought it looked neat. It was actually my first message board. I'm glad to say that I wasn't VERY spammy, but I really did enjoy employing the smileys to the fullest extent without them being annoying or misplaced.

That was way back in November of 2001. I've been here three whole years! And what a fun three years it's been. I loved being a moderator, but gah, I so needed to retire. I'm really glad I did. I haven't been in the Anime Lounge since... >.>;

I remember going to theOtaku in search of anime pictures...but I don't remember exactly why I decided to come to OB lol. I suppose that I was just curious about the message board for one reason or another. And I clicked on the link, and registered. What an amazing story.

However, I stayed at OB because of the video game conversation. I'd never been to a place where the people who posted about games had been so damned informed. There were several people on my level and above, and it continues to be that way, even today. As I've stayed here, the Adventure Arena/Inn and OB Anthology have received a lot of interest from me, too. So, yeah, OB appeals both to the dorky gamer and wannabe writer in me.

I came upon theotaku.com when I was in search for good anime sites. It seemed pretty good, even back in the olden days lol. I was one of the people who would send their art in by email, unlike the new system we have with myOtaku.

I decided to check out OtakuBoards out of curiousity. I registered and account but never statred posting until myOtaku came out. OtakuBoards is the first forumI ever visited.

I joined back in 2001 when version 3, or 4, was up...I think. I ran into this place from theotaku, and like everyone else, I was lookin for some great DBZ pics, I eventually joined, but I was under a different screen name back then. I posted every now and then because I didn't have a computer at home, I even introduced my friend Tara to it (Avalon), haven't seen her in a while...
But anyway, I left, came back in 2g3 and had to get a new screen name, left again and here I am, in all of my cheeseyness!! :D

I was looking for a forum just because I was bored and the forums I went to before were quite nice. Well so thats my reason. How? Google. Why did I stay? Because I don't dare go outside ever since I saw my first horror movie. Ehm.. No because other forums i've seen are mostly a pile of quality lacking poopheads together. :<

James invited me. We originally wound up speaking to eachother over AIM and such when I e-mailed theOtaku's now deceased Xbox game site. Xboxotaku or something.

I wound up here under another name and posted maybe 30 times, I'd guess. I wound up running into Crazy White Boy thanks to link from James. It was some argument over what was the best upcoming system or some nonsense. I wound up leaving shortly after.

James and I continued talking and months later I wound up here under this name. By that point, CWB was a mod, much to my surprise... but the whole previous "debate" was largely considered a joke by that point. To explain it all to people who weren't around would take a whole new thread.

The place, at the time, still had a rather strong gaming community, largely because of the gaming sites that were once hosted in addition to this. People stuck around after those sites went down, but gradually faded away, leading to a whole new group. Somewhere around that time I became a mod, which was my main reason for being here so often, I'd say.

I remember Anna.

I joined atfer stumbling upon this website whiole looking up on .hack//sign. I looked around and saw that this was mainly dedicated to anime, most of the people were around my age, it had good rules and no weird people and there is a lounge jus to talk about anything.
