What was the reason you came to OB?

I don't remember why I originally joined, I was most likely incredibly bored, so much that I surfed the internet (on my 56krap, which is gone now) and found this. Oh, wait a sec, on of my friends was on it. That reminds me, he's gone now. Like I was, but now I have more time.

But now I'm back after a long hiatus. Pretty much band got in the way. But I'm back because I want to get back to writing, so I figure going back to the place where I started would help. It seems like any good addiction, you just keep coming back.

Oh..my...god..Radaghast?! *pokes to make sure he's real* You're back! I think I am going to cry!

Oh, anyways. I joined the OtakuBoards by default. I was looking for anime pictures to inspire myself and got the Fan Art section. I started to browse around on theOtaku.com and found the OtakuBoards. Ever since then, I've never truely left, hehe.

I've established a wonderful group of friends and love the writing.

I came to OB ... January last year. Now that I think of it, it's been a year or so here. w00t for me.

Anyway.

I came here, in search of Gundam stuff, and Google retrieved me a link to the Archive. I signed up, and tried to post in there, only to my amazement, all the threads were locked, and well expired. Needless to say, I was very sad I couldn't revel in all the Gundam-ness, so I hit the X-button on my browser.

Fastforward to Summer, 2004. I stumbled here again because of my newly adopted manga craze. This time, Google brought me back a link to the Manga forum, which I found rather dull. I decided to explore the index of OB, only to find that it said I hadn't been here since January, something or other. This time, I decided to post. I immediately got my newcomer reprimand from Dagger, begging with heart and soul for post quality, coherence, and no double posting. *sigh* What a feeling. Anyway, I was sort of frightened, not because I spoke it l33t, but because I had already broken a rule on such a wholesome community, where the moderators actually cared about post quality, flame-baiting, and foul language.

So I posted, until August or so. Then I started making my own website, which bumped OB down to last in my priority's list. I came back here because I was bored sometime around October, looking for anime again.

So, I'm still relatively new here, only being 1 year old, but I like it here. w00t for OB

I've been here for two years. I think it's amazing because it feels like three months, four tops and looks that way if you compare my post count to some others. I joined at first because a friend asked me to. She was really active in the anime lounge, but I can't remember her username for the life of me. I should ask... Whatever the case I didn't have a home computer so I pretty much forgot about this place. Then one day I joined again under some user name that involved the color blue. I had a computer at home but I never posted here. I lurked now and then when I was bored but nothing special. Then I rejoined under this name and I still didn't post. I think what kept me around was myotaku.com and the people I met through there. I've come out of my not-posting shell much more as of late so that's good, I guess. ::shrugs::

I joined in V4 (three years ago when it hits May), after about a year of hanging around pokecheats.com and looking for Dragonball Z pictures. Before that, I visited this other Dragonball Z site called planetnamek. ...net/com something, and posted in their forums, but after it disappeared, I started frequenting the theOtaku chat. Then I joined the forums after finally noticing there was another button close to 'chat', and found myself here. ^__^;

After about a year, I was 'banned' by family for a year then returned because I missed the people.
The reason I came to otaku boards was not so long ago when I was even newer to anime. I had just been looking for something on Yu-Gi-Oh! And stumbled upon theotaku?s Yu-Gi-Oh! Shrine. I then being terribly new to anime explored it trying to find as much as I could about any anime there was. I suppose I was just looking around the site when I noticed otakuboards. That was when I was just joining any forums I saw (which is why I have this stupid user name! ^^) and so I immediately joined? I suppose it wasn?t too much later that I posted and now that I look back I was pretty ashamed at those posts. I think I managed to look like a total idiot and upset quite a few people. After a while I realized this so kinnda stopped posting until recently. I?ve seen more interesting topics and have the slightest bit of maturity so haven?t made (as big of a) fool of my self.

EDIT: oh I remember more of how I got from theotaku to otakuboards!! I think I actually fond theotaku when looking for .hack music. When I saw the jukebox I decided to try it and realized I had to be a myotaku member. I immediately registered so that I could listen to music and some how stumbled upon otakuboards.

and is it just me or was there another topic like this somewhat recently (it would have to be recent if I rember it! ^^) because I remember some of these stories...
I know exactly how you feel Junkobakaiba (By the way I love your name, its alot better then boring ol' Pumpkin hehe) Anyways I will tell you a story of how I came across OB. (Be warned its a long and confusing story, bare with me)

Once upon a time there was a person named Purplefire who was a beautiful evil scientist bent on world destruction (don't ask), she registered at a site called AO (Animeonline.net) and began to post away and made lots of friends. One day the Administrator could not afford to pay for the site anymore, meanwhile one day it dissapeared. Poof. Half of the members created another forum for talking called AT (Animetalk.org) who all considered themselves well how you say "Elite" or the "Old-school" members. The rest ventured off to MT (Minitokyo.net) meanwhile, AT was fastly dieing, so Purplefire began to post on MT. Soon enough, AO was up and running again, and she registered at her favorite site. No more then three weeks, all the old people of the forum were replaced by people speaking in 1337 speech and famous posts like "DuDE that site ROx!! DIS anime is KOOL!" and after a migrane or too, decided to take a break from the chaos. Even MT's topics started to become more too common and stale such as "Whats your favorite color?" and in search she used a program entitled "Google" and eventually typed up Otaku. There she came across a place called Otakuboards, and decided to try it out. Alas, "Pumpkin" was born on 9/23/04. Although she still talks to some mods and friends from AO, she remains here to this day.

Actually I can't believe its been five months. If you don't believe how bad at AO is, you should check it out yourself. I dunno I didn't like the new layout, many of the people I actually talked to and got to know well before never came back (to my sad dismay) and I like the fact that this place is so strict about their posts. I love the old AO, and hated to see it change like that. It actually affects you to a certain extent believe it or not (not like i cried or anything but still it was my favorite site at the time) By the way I have nothing against MT, except that they have the most repeated topics in the history of forums. One thing I like about this place, every thread is unique. Or atleast somewhat. So I'm proud to be an OB'er...even if I don't know that many people here.

Quite frankly, I'm not even sure how I got here. I believe I just stumbled here and I had never even heard of these forums until that moment and I started out as KiaraStarr and then changed to Arika, then to Neuvoxetere. I am obviously hooked to OB and will be forever, well not forever, but for a long moment.

I came here initially only to post artwork and get feedback. I was doing that with my other account, Vash IDK, but then after doing my first RPG, Kurakow Training Acadamy, I had officially gotten hooked into RPGing. So I guess I still stick around here just for the stories..... and a few friends I have here. :)

I found theotaku.com about 2 years ago searching for something anime related. I put a bookmark on it and maybe came back a few times. Now that I'm not working myself to death and only going to college full time, it gives me a chance to check out these boards and talk with people with similar interests.

I came here not too long ago. (and I really wish I could post and interact with you guys more, cause you all seem awesome, but my schedule is so rediculous. ) I came here because I dont really have any friends who are into anime or manga, especially not as much as I am. I mean, I did meet a few people in school, but we dont keep in touch as often as I would like. I figured, however, that this would be a perfect forum to share my views and opinions on things that I just dont have the chance to do in my outside life. New Jersey isnt exactly the anime-hub of the country. So far, I found OB to be a really wonderful place for fans to get together and share the love. ^_^

I came upon here by, well, somehow finding TheOtaku.com. I mainly just hung around the old chat room. I was there for a few months, then realized that there was this forum. And I've been here ever since.
The OB was actually the first message boards I had ever joined. Out of all of the forums I've visited and registered to, this is the only one I still come to.

I guess this place if just special. ^_~
