ChibiHorsewoman
I'm really bored, and I couldn' t think of a better thread than this one about nicknames. I'm sure that everyone has a few, some of you may even be using them as screen names (tho I hope Farto isn't one of them) well, share if you like. Also, if you have nicknames for other people or nicknames that you just don't want to be called you can share those as well. As for me, well, my name is Megan, so of course the standard nickname for that is Meg. I get called that a lot. I also call other Megans Meg, like my husband's cousin Megan. It's like the standard Megan nickname and a given that anyone named Megan can call another Megan Meg. Whoa, that was really long winded, but I think it made sense. I also have the nickname Cheebs which was given to me by my wonderful husband. The way I got that was we were watching SailorMoonS with ChibiUsa and Lincoln wanted to know what chibi meant, I told him it meant short or small. He got creative and started calling me Cheebs. I really don't like being called Cheebs that much, but since it makes Lincoln happy, I'll tolerate it...so maybe he'll let me call him Linc. I have more, but wel...I'll save them for another time. Now let's get this pointless thread moving so I can feel loved for a few days. AzureWolf
I had a chemistry professor who gave me a nickname because I answered his question "What is another name for a Flathead Screwdriver" wrong. It didn't go outside of class, but in class, everyone would refer to me with that darned nickname. Anyway, the most common nickname (if you can call it that) is just my last name. Everyone refers to me by it, although I'm not entirely sure why. I remember someone made a comment about never meeting anyone else from my family, but I doubt that's the main reason. It's gotten to the point that it sounds weird when people call me by my first name, but it's really annoying when people I don't know refer to me by my last name. I had a professor with a really heavy Russian accent the other semester. Her name was Dr. Svetlana Sukhishvili, but she told us to call her by her first name since it was supposedly easier to pronounce. My friends and I couldn't pronounce either one, so we started calling her Skoog. Skoog was the name of the author of our textbook, and she would always refer to the book by saying "Skoog boog" (remember, accent). So, it ended up that we'd always say, "So, you talk to Skoog?" and such. Another professor, Thomas Cattiabiani dubbed himself "Tom Cat" so we just refer to him as such.
Azure Rose
Haha, nicknames, such fun. Well, my name's Sarah, so you can't really make any nicknames out of that. Although, when I was a little girl, everyone in my family (aunts and uncles and grandparents especially) called me Sarah Sue. It's cute, but honestly, I never really liked it. Good thing I outgrew it...however, I ended up getting a few other nicknames later on, from my teachers. When I lived in Hawaii, on the first day of 8th grade I wore a long-sleeved shirt that had the number 89 on it. My teacher, Mr. Ogata decided to call me that, since he had trouble remembering names at the beginning of the year. Heh, that was interesting, but I'm glad everyone eventually forgot about it. Ah, now, last year I got a nickname that kinda stuck. We were going over an assignment, and my friend Monica raised her hand and said "Me and Sarah don't know what a dialectical journal is." (Bad grammar, I know!) The whole class, and my teacher, Mr. Newman, turned to her and asked her if she didn't just say "Me and turtle." I of course, knew she didn't say turtle, but everyone swore she did, and so, Turtle I became. Of course, most of my friends ended up with nicknames too. What a fun class that was! But anyway, I still get people from my English class last year calling me Turtle, and, I guess I've grown to like it. ~Azure
M.Ali
Well many people on here don't know this, but my name is Joshua >_<...I know, pretty simple eh? Well, in the past, I've had a slew of nicknames, Muhummad Ali was actually one of them at the time (i.e. the screen name), since I kinda look like him. But the nickname that people call me the most now, is J.B., JBeezie, or JBizzle, it's because of my first and last name, but personally, I prefer J.B. :D
Manic Webb
My first name is Kevin, so I got the usual nicknames from that: Kev, Kevikev, Kevo. My last name, on the other hand, is actually Webb. And before you ask, no, Manic is not a description. It's dedicated to Sonic's brother, Manic the hedgehog from the cartoon Sonic Underground. But I digress. When I first started high school, one of my classes had another Kevin in it. I told the teacher to just call me Webb, so we wouldn't get confused. This worked out fine, until the next semester when the other Kevin got transfered to a new class, and I realized the entire class thought my first name was Webb. It took me months to convince them all that my real name was Kevin. I also had a WebTV (now called MSNTV) from 1998 to 2000, so my friends got to calling me Kevin WebTV. When Disney premiered the cartoon Proud Family, I almost changed my screen names to Sticky, after the character Sticky Webb. I eventually decided against it, though. It's impossible to find Sticky avatars.
Revelation
Whoo, this'll be a doozy. Nicknames...yikes. I have tons and tons and I do not know where to begin! I suppose I should explain my nicknames, shouldn't I? Crack Baby: This was given to me in middle school because when my friends would talk about a joke, I would stand there not laughing and then five minutes later, I would laugh. Quite slow, aren't I? Name backwards: I shall not say my real name here, but there are a few that know my name and it's just that backwards. Lady Viscious: Two of my friends and I were going to make a singing group for this one site and we wanted nicknames, aliases you might say, and we gave each other names. I'm Lady Viscious because I'm quite volatile at times, I'm known to be aggressive, and I tend to burst into fits of anger when I'm angered. You could say that I need anger management. Kkangpeh: A korean word for gangster, goes along with Lady Viscious. It was given to me by my parents and my friends. Ms. Shorty: It's actually Mz. Shawty, but for grammatical reasons, I chose to spell it correctly. I'm short and that is the reason for my nick name. Little One: Again, my height goes with this. I actually have another nick name that has Little and my last name. The people at my school call my brother by our last name and they gave me Little. Ddong Kangaji: It's mutt puppy. A korean nick-name given to me by my parents. And there are several more, but I cannot remember. I told you, quite a lot, and I hope you've had fun looking at these strange, yet unique, nicknames of mine.
Pumpkin
My name is Katie. Which was quite common at my schools. Most girls were named Kahryn and called Katie for short. So I got ALOT of teachers calling my names like Kathryn (its not by the way just Katie wierd I know), Kaitlyn, Kate, Kat and yes even Kitty. I prefer Kitty overall.me My friend yelled across the quad one day saying Katie so many times she accidently called me kittyy, and used it all my freshman year. I was actually called "Kitty Kat" that was my nickname and I would sign that when I wrote notes. Eventually it became annoying when people would laugh and pet my head and call me Kitty Kat. In the 7th grade, my friend and I use to call each other Baboon. Don't ask it was like our own little thing. I hate being called Kate. I have been called that since I was little by teachers and I have to ask them not too, its silly but theres a girl on my block named Kate that I always hated. Meanwhile making me think of her everytime I hear that name. Plus I just don't like it. lol. So now Im just Katie, and I'm satisfied with that. As far as my online names go. For forums, Purplefire and Pumpkin. And in most games I roleplay as Karmata or Yavela.
Cat
some of the nicknames I have really different. here they are. 1) Evil: One of the guys at school want to get me mad and so he started to call me that. I really don't mind that nickname. 2) Kitty: I love cats and kittens. So, some of my friends started to call me that. But that nickname is mostly my online friends. 3) Cat: the same a above. 4) Spike: I love the characters in Cowboy Bebop and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 5) Tsume: for reasons unknow. People just started calling me that when ever I post at myotaku site. I think thats all of them I will tell you more if I think of any more. Box Hoy
I got my nickname, which happens to be my screen name (oh my god!) from my friends brother who had made the name and was using it on EGM forums. So I bought it from him for 10 cents. The thing about this name is that it was derived from the japanese lettuce: Bok Choi or some sort of spelling like that. Mrmctwig is my second nickname which I made up form South Park when Mr. Garrison gets rid of Mr. hat and get's Mr. Twig. So yeah. I don't use it these days though so I sold it to my friend Chris. Panda
I have only one nickname, Panda. John, now my husband, gave me this nickname many years ago when I was 16 years old. It all started with a conversation we were having about cartoons and what kind of character we would be. He told me if I were a cartoon character I would be a panda bear. Ever since then he has called me his Panda. I have always loved pandas so the nickname fits well for me. :D
Juu
Most of my nicknames come from mispronunciations on first days of school or by substitute teachers. And we all know when they're at my name on roll call - not by who's before me and blahblah, but because they always squint and go 'wtf o.O;;'. So erm, my name is Dyne Juuthena Seo, and from there I get 'Dyneeey', 'Din', 'Diiiinner', 'Diner','Dymph', 'Dinosaur' (*shakes fist), 'Dyn-o-mite' (*cocks gun*), Juu, Juuness, juujuu, and etc. No titles or such besides 'husby' and 'sexy *** (as in donkey. Inside joke, I play Bottom in A Midsummer's Night Dream, haha.)'.
PWNED
I have a few nicknames which have been given to me for different reasons. One of my nicknames is Wasted Williams, I got this because of my fondness of strong or nasty soft drink and my love of Ginger Beer. I've explained that i drink a lot of sugary drinks because of a mild case of Diabetes and I guess it just kind of stuck. My second is piss pot Williams because of the stated reason above. Last of all is my nickname Mad Dog Morgan because when I play sport i'm like a Mad dog. This is my oldest still used nickname and one of my favourites. As you can tell my name is Morgan Williams
Guest Crimson Spider
I've had many nicknames that have come and gone throughout the years. Sometimes they only last a month. Sometimes they stick with me for life. Other times they are message-board exlusive. I was recently called Bill Nye. In Chem I H last year, I was one of the smartest kids there. And everyone else knew that. I would also get up and do a very hoaky and embarrassing dance about every other time his theme song played from the TV in the Chem Lab. That was a cool nickname. My last name is Gilmore, so everyone calls me Happy. Even my teachers.. That's also a good one. And now for the embarrasing one: My parents (when intoxicated they call me this in public) call me Goog. Why? I don't know! I wish they would stop! It's annoying! But until I can move out, I'm going to be the Googmeister to them.
Lady Asphyxia
My nickname is Lady Asphyxia, because I'm into bondage. Seriously, though. My name's Kathryn, and I've had quite a few 'nicknames' along my 16 years. When I was first born, my mother called me 'Katy', but not long later she changed the spelling to 'Katie'. I changed the spelling back to Katy around year 10, and boy, do I regret that. I don't really like either of the spellings, so generally I take other names now. At work I'm Kathryn, although one of the guys shortens that to Kat, while the others call me Kath. My sister calls me Kate, while my Mum calls me KM. And as for Mitch, Charles and Alan, they call me Kat -- and really, I think I like Kat the best, heh. And, of course, there's all the nicknames stemming from Lady Asphyxia, but everyone knows them. ^_^"
Sara
Interesting, most interesting...Whoa! Where did that come from? Anyway, nicknames....heh. When I was little, my parents sometimes called me Sarebear or Sarabear, which is cute. I was really young, though. (It's one of those adorable little kid nicknames that you'll hear until you're perhaps five...and then never again until you end up with a mushy significant other.) Incidently "Sarabear" would make a cute little character for me to doodle. Hee. My dad also used to call me sharp-eyed girl. It sounds kinda lame now, but I was incredibly proud of it. I loved seeing things, noticing things, and pointing them out, and being called that was this awesome praise from my dad that I just loved. Mom called me my brown-eyed girl too, heh. We've both got brown eyes...and whenever we'd go rummage-saling, we'd have Oldies radio on, and that song would come on, and we'd be driving and laughing and singing. Heh. Good memories...gosh, I can hardly picture the car we used to do that in. It was three ages ago. I have a few nicknames from my grade school years, most of which I probably don't remember. In sixth grade, though, we read Anne Frank--Diary of a Young Girl (and later went to see a stage production, which was kinda cool). Anyway, the book had a photo of Anne on the cover, and someone decided that I looked like her. I suppose, in comparison to everyone else in the class, I might have looked the most like her, but the resemblence wasn't exactly striking. Anyway, people (a few in particular) ended up calling me Anne Frank for the rest of the year. // One girl in my class also called me Martin Martin. (Martin is my last name.) I never really figured out why, and it kinda annoyed me, but she was a lot of fun, so I put up with it. (She also claimed that the bust of Martin Luther that stood in the corner of our classroom was going to come to my room and haunt me...Odd girl.) One of my youth group/Sunday school teachers used to call me Mary Poppins. "Practically perfect in every way" because I always got the Bible trivia right. But it always sort of embarrassed me, because it wasn't that I really knew a lot of stuff that other people didn't...I just had a good memory, and could remember back when we'd actually learned about the stuff, heh. One of the boys in my youth group used to call me Sarah, Plain and Tall. (It's the name of a book.) I'm not really that tall, though...I'm not going to comment on the "plainness." ^_~ There was a boy in my 8th grade class who called me a lot of very nasty things (I never really figured out why, because we sort of got along... Well, better than I got along with some other people, anyway) that I'm not going to mention here. My German teacher in high school, of course, called me by my "German" name(s), so through the years I was Käte, Silke, and Meike. I really liked Käte, just because it seemed so simple and elegant, and a little unexpected. (It's pronounced "Kay-teh," only...not quite. The a-umlaut sound isn't quite the same as the long a we have in English. Anyway!) My freshman year theology teacher also singled me out for doing well in his class, which was both gratifying and embarrassing.. His tests and quizzes were always hard (he'd try to trick you on the True/False questions, which was awful of him), but I usually got 'em right. Unfortunately, most of the class didn't, and he felt the need to point out that (because I had gotten them right) the quizzes weren't impossible. He started calling me simply by my initials, after a while: S. M. Oh, I nearly forgot to say-- from the first day of class, this guy always called each person Doctor [last name]. "And do you know why? It's because I know that each and every one of you--yes, impossible though it may sound, even you, Doctor Barker--have the potential to graduate from college and complete your doctoral thesis. And then you'll think back to old Luchterhand's class, and say to yourself, boy, he sure saw the potential in me. And then you'll give me money or medical coverage at no charge." ...Anyway, that was Pastor Luchterhand. So before I was "S.M.," I was Doctor Martin. I have a few more nicknames from slightly more recent times, but I'm kinda running out of steam here. Maybe I'll pick up and continue this later. kthxdie, Sara
Ezekiel
Most of my nicknames haven't really stuck, except for maybe three, but heck, I've had loads through the...erm...ages O_o; Jay: The most obvious nickname, really (my name being Jamie), but not my first. Most people in Liverpool call me Jay because they are too lazy to say my whole name and most things sound better if they end in a 'y' sound, anyway...well, in their opinion. James/Jim/Jimmy: Because I was a tomboy. Plain and simple. Everyone used this in South Africa (sounds great with an Afrikaans accent!) most boys called me Jim and the girls called me James. Jay Jay: A cute nickname that my friend Melissa gave me. Not one of my favourites, however. Sanzo-sama: (Panda will be proud) When I got my hair cut short, I looked like Sanzo. My eyes may not be purple, but they're kind of sad, like Sanzo's. Plus, when I went to Turkey, I found myself a toy Smith and Wesson M10 (Sanzo's weapon) So, I made myself a paper fan, wielded it with skill, and frightened my friends with a very realistic toy gun, hence the name. Lullaby: Legacy's nickname for me, probably my favourite nickname of all. Imi: Bet you all didn't see this one coming! Long story short, my art teacher is dyslexic (which I can't spell right without referring to a dictionary, how ironic) and when I told him I wanted a character in my Manga to be called Imogen, with her nickname being 'Immy', as it was at the time, he wrote down 'Imi' for simplicity. Meth/Methy: People online are too lazy to spell my username properly ^_~ I think that's all, besides any rude names that people may call me.
sinna
I got two nick-names that stuck. The first is Monk, 'cause in my d&d group I know the most about the monk character class, and play them the best. The other is Stonewall. This one sprouted from me getting into an accident in August. I walked out of the truck with a scrape on my leg, and a bump on my head whereas my truck got totaled

LPpunkrocka
I've got a few too: Ash-since my first name is Ashley, my friend Amanda started calling me this. I hate it, honestly. AC-my initials. simple. I like this one a lot more, a lot of people call me by it. Keiko-chan -If anyone watches Yuyu Hakusho, then you may know who Keiko is. My friends say I look a lot like her, except that my hair is a little longer, and I wear glasses. This is probably my favorite one.^^ LP-I have a site on myO, and everyone there calls me LP, so I guess it's a nickname. Shy Kid--_- Josh and Matt, two guy friends of mine, call me this because I was silent the first two weeks of school, and didn't talk to them until the second month of school. During that time, they just called me Shy Kid, but they liked it so much they stuck with it. Out of all of them, Keiko-chan is my favorite. ^____^
Xander Harris
Some people in my home town call me stuff like Jimmy and Jim. At college most everyone calls me Peachfuzz. Why? DeadSeraphim
I have a fairly boring name, so I've never got many variations on it, heh. People used to try and stick a random word to my face, but I never responded to it so their attempts at nicknaming me nosedived (eg, Decoy :P) I have had a few names though. My Dad called me AJ till I was about five, heh, and my Mum calls me (infuriatingly) Ally. The Manual Arts teachers at my school call me Big Al, lol. [For the record, Man Arts teachers = no originality]. I've also been known to go by Speechless, but not many people bother, haha, cause I never respond. I'm more likely to give my friends nicknames than retain them, to be honest. One of my better friends is known universally as Homeless because of me, and another as The Pimp (and another Bichell, but that's less a nickname and more an attack on his masculinity - or lack thereof). jedite
For some reason, everyone in my Astronomy class, calls me Jim for some reason. Probably, because I'm a big guy, or they sometimes call me big Jim. Which Jim isn't my real name. Also, another nickname is Big A. Some of my friends call me this. Lastly, my darker or eviler side, Jedite, which isn't really a nickname, more like an alter ego.

dMage
Ah...when it comes to nicknames, I've had more than my fair share. Many of them are related with my name. I have only 2 syllables in my name (Omar) so many would take out the o and add a monosyllable in front. thus you have things like: Shop-mar Weak-mar Pimp-mar "The Man"-mar etc. I believe 2 of my friends actually came up with a whole alphabetical list once. I've also been called "the Big O" "O-mario" and "Commando" so yea, thats some of em...one cool thing to note though, a friend of mine draws comics, and some of these nick-name alter ego's are actually really cool characters.
elfpirate
I've had a myriad of nick-names over the years but only a few that stuck...usually I became enraged enough at a nickname to get people to stop calling me by it. When I was about three, a friend of my parents' started calling me "Winifred McGillicuddy" for reasons unknown to this day. My family picked it up and it was shortened to "Winnie". My mom also used to call me Wednesday when I was little because I was sort of morbid and rarely smiled. And Nattie Ghan...again, for reasons unknown. As a young teen, I was known as Twitch (self-explanatory) and later as Roach- because I ate one on a dare- yeah, the bug. Then, I was dubbed Johnny... because someone thought it was funny that I was always looking over my shoulder and was easily startled (Like Johnny from The Outsiders). I, however, did not find it quite as amusing, because it stemmed from my post-traumatic stress disorder- but I didn't protest the nickname because most people didn't know why I was being called that and because Johnny was close enough to my real name to be comfortable. I even use the name myself rather frequently. Finally- I am known to some as Germ and to my mom's husband as Elfchild or Elfdaughter... the former because my initials are JRM and the latter because people think I look like an elf (Everyone says I look like an anime character, as well, but thankfully, no one has christened me by any character's name so far). Oh, wait- I forgot one- my ex boyfriend used to call me Tyler because he said my personality was as unstable (and even resembled) Tyler Durdin's from Fight Club.Eeps! The ones that linger are: Roach, Johnny, Germ, and the "elf" ones. I'll introduce myself as Johnny when I don't want someone to know my real name or when I don't feel like teaching someone how to pronounce my real name, which I almost always have to do. (It's Jenea) I'm sure there were more that I've forgotten about and I'm sure someone will try to give me yet another nick-name in the future... maybe next time it will be something a little more on the positive side of things- or one that suits me better, anyway.
