DBZgirl88
My younger sister's class was exchanging holiday cards with another class of kids living in Japan. They recently recieved the cards from Japan so she decided to show them to me, to see if I could read some of the japanese writing on the cards. As I was looking over the cards, I noticed something a bit disturbing. One of the cards had a sticker or the the playboy logo, you know, that rabbit. The child who had sent the card had also written "playboy" right under the sticker. I know that pornography was more popular in japan than in the west, but not to this extent! What the hell was a 10 year old kid doing with a playboy sticker? I'm hoping the kid doesn't know what it means, and just happened to have the sticker and decided to use it because it was just a cute bunny. But still, is it possible that these children are exposed to playboy and other porno magazines at such a young age?
Retribution
Really, chill out. I see 12 year-old girls wearing the playboy bunny on a necklace, and wearing a play-boy bunny shirt. People State-side do this stuff too. This doesn't mean that these young 12 year-old girls are exposed to porno and whatnot (maybe they are... ::shrug::). I don't think it's that disturbing. The kid might not even know what Playboy is, and just like the bunny rabbit symbol. I know I do. ^______^
Morpheus
Actually, it does. The World beyond the americas is almost reversed. We are fine with violence but uptight about sex. They have nudity and sex on cable television. It's a completely different society.

Its an acceptable brand logo that's all over the place, on jewlery, t-shirts, hell I even saw a pair of socks with it on not long ago.

Just walking around a mall there are many things that are suprising to see. Such as baby doll t-shirts for girls that say things like "Porn Star" on them. If you have ever been in those Gift shops in the mall you can find all kinds of adult marketed merchandise like t-shirts (Playboy, alcohol slogans and the like), jewerly and keychains. Whenever I am walking by one of those stores in the mall they seem to be over flowing with giggly pre-teens. The kid could have gotten it from a big brother or an older kid in the neighborhood. In our day and age who knows if the kid really knows what that bunny stands for.
Annie
Actually, I am not surprised. Young child? Yes, indeed. However, the Japanese (please capitalize) culture is different from most cultures around the world. Things that aren't that acceptable here in the States or Europe may be perfectly normal in Japan, or Asia. No matter the age. Why is this? Do you think anyone really knows? I don't thinks so. Does this justify today's youth's and pornography? No. Perhaps the kid thought it was something stylish for Americans, and didn't know the actual meaning behind the bunny. It's quite possible..as are many things.
AzureWolf
I don't think all of it has to do with different cultures or regions. I mean, I'm always surprised at the stuff kids know at increasingly younger ages these days. It'd be a different story if they just heard a word or two, but they actually KNOW about sex and what-not. It's kind of creepy when little elementary students say they want to get laid soon... Anyway, I'm all for awareness, but c'mon, it's too soon. I don't care if you live in Japan, Africa, or Juno: there are just some things that kids, regardless of mental state due to different cultures or times, should not know at young ages.

When I was a kid of, oh say 7, I had respect for my elders...well okay, maybe not, but I knew enough not to piss off the 'older' kids, ya know, teenagers. Anyway, I go about now and you get groups of these kids swearing and blinding at you with words I'd never even heard of when I was that age, let alone said. Such audacity, it's weird. Kids getting pregnant at 13 and having sex even before then. I feel so old lol.

I guess I really need to catch up to the times. But anyways, the "Bunny-logo" is just a fashion icon now, some little kids don't even know what it's for and just see it as a bunny logo from a magazine they know of. Plus playboy really isn't that bad, yes it shows nude pictures, but its alot better then, how you say some others like Penthouse? It's not exactly a porn magazine since there are articles in there too. Playboy is popular now. Everyone is wearing it. Even a guy in my class wears the symbol on his hat, and alot of little girls on their shirts. I don't think wearing one is a big deal since I doubt that means they like porn. Not trying to sound mean but I think there's nothing to worry about. I highly doubt shes ever even SEEN a playboy magazine. This in NO way means I support it in any way...but really what can you do? ;/ Times have changed. By the way I feel old now too. Japan
When I was about 12, and my best friend, only 2 years younger, she gave me a green playboy bunny sticker. I still have it in my scrap book. >_> I agree that it is a fashion icon nowadays. You can find anything like this in stores like Hot Topic and Spencers. I see pre-teens and older go in there all the time. I was surprised that a girl I was baby sitting for wore mini skirts, high heels, and knew what a thong was, and she was only 10! I didn't do any of that stuff, let alone knew about how to have sex and other things like that at that age. >_<
Juu
Oh please, our school has eleven year olds having sex and flashing half of their thongs in low-rider jeans. And yet, our school is supposedly 'the best public middle school in San Francisco'.

XD I don't think you should worry about it, to be honest. Like has been stated (many) times before, it's a logo now. It's progressed beyond porn, lol (not that Playboy is even porn by today's standards). It's like the Billabong or Nike logo now, heh. That said, it is Japan, so it could be more sinister. I mean, this is the same country that only abolished paedophilia less than ten years ago (and only did so by making the legal limit 13). I wouldn't be surprised if the kid did know what Playboy was.
MissWem
eurgh.. yes it is rather disturbing and quite disgusting in fact to think that children that young are already so involved with sex in several forms. Of course, it's one thing to know that things like that are going on. However it's always the greatest shock to witness it first hand. Fortunately I have never heard, first hand, (these 'children' as we can so eloquently describe them) them talk about who've they've done/going to do/how they're going to do it etc. etc. The worst I've seen is a 13 yr old that is nowhere near puberty at the moment upset because some guy breaks up with her after one weekend. Weird stuff. The Playboy Bunny logo is commonplace as other people have said. I can go into any number of shops at the mall and see the infamous bunny on jewellery, wallets, clothing, bras and anything else you could probably stick it on. eh. Although, "old"? C'mon... never... I just feel like a prude :p
Sol-Blade
Yeah, I've seen it around here. It's all too common now-a-days. I get a kick out of little kids ands teenagers walking around with *Hot Stuff* right on their arse or having a charm that says *Booty*. Ah yes, how funny (And yet sad at the same time) to watch young people walking around strutting in hip-huggers. Yes indeed. Infact, I remember seeing some Freshman girls with the Bunny stickers all over their binders and backpacks. It's really more common than you would figure.

Here, in Hickville, Ohio (Jackson), there are a lot of teens with Playboy merchandise. The actual magazine included. There are t-shirts (which, inevitably, will be turned inside out before the school day is over), stickers, binders, whatever.

So I have to agree with Alan on his statement. But anyway back to the topic on hand. The kid may have not known about the Bunny being the symbol of Playboy (Kind of difficult not to know in the present day and age) so It could have been an accident.
