Game Endings That Disappointed You
I have a question bout the spoiler tags. Why are they an issue? You don't need to go into detail about a games ending if you just want to say they sucked. Halo 2 and Tales of Symphonia's endings both sucked big floppy donkey dong. There its said anybody whose played agrees and everybody wins.
The reason is simple: saying that a game sucks isn't enough. We want you to tell us why you didn't like it. If we simply had a list of people saying what sucked, we'd not have any interaction or discussion. It'd just be a list. And that kinda defeats the entire purpose of the site. ^_^

Agreeing that the ending to Soul Reaver was lame, but the rest of the games pretty much made up for it... except for maybe the ending of Defiance,
which pretty much leaves you with Raziel in the Soul reaver, Janos possessed by -something-, the squid burried under rocks, and Kain doing a lot of brooding about Raziel and "hope" and things T_T I will so die if that's the last game.
The ending to RE4 was a bit disappointing as well T_T With a game that good, you'd think the ending would've been cooler
but you get Ashley trying to get Leon to put in some "over time", Leon angsting over Ada, and then and Leon hitting on Hunnigan ~_~ WTF? It wasn't a game about all Leon's women *dies* Though hopefully the lack of closure means another game soon XD
Golden Sun...
Saturos & Menardi die.
That's bad enough.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age...
HONESTLY, DID YOU HAVE TO KILL KARST OFF, TOO???
Stupid Camelot people. Hopefully the third game brings them all back... if there is a frikkin third game...

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories...
Axel is the only Unknown who lives to show up in KH 2!?!?! I mean, I could probably deal with losing the Riku-clone, and maybe even Vexen (I like him, ugly old hagman that he is), but EVERY FRIKKIN UNKNOWN DIES!
]Hmm endings that really dissapointed me.

First off, I want to say something about Resident Evil 4. What GTK said wasn't everything that happened.
Ada also stole the "sample" from Leon, which hints at something happening with that, whether the sample falls into Umbrella's hands or not is seemed to fit, although Weskar could do anything with it. Also, what happened to Krauser that allowed him to rip that sword out? That was way cool.
I actually didn't mind the end end too much.
If they had ended it with something other than everyone being OK and whatnot, I would have been disapointed.
And if you didn't see
Ashley's hitting on him
coming, then you really didn't watch the cutscenes, did you?

One that really dispapointed me was Half Life: Oppsing Forces. What was up with
The G-Man grabbing Sheppard as well? WHat did he have that Barney didn't? I figure it was better to not have Barney,
but I still feel kinda bad for him.

Interesting, most interesting.

To be honest I was fairly disappointed with the ending to Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, the whole game I felt was living up to a big finish and then
you go back in time, kill the Vizier and it's over
. I mean I nearly had a heart attack, you put up with those damned
sand monsters through the whole game, that take ages to kill off,
and that's the ending you get... It just seemed unfinished, but then again I suppose that's where Prince of Persia: Warrior Within comes from.

As far as endings go all the Grand Theft Auto games never feel truly finished, I suppose that's because you can go on after the final "Boss Fight".
I mean in the first game after Catalina is killed you can just waltz on an complete the game, same goes for Sonny and Tenpenny in Vice City and San Andreas.
I mean I'd like if there were different endings depending on the level at which the game is beaten before the final fight, or maybe I'm just insatiable. The ending of GTA:SA really disapointed me too. I mean when you go in there and
kill Smoke, he is WAY too easy. The whole ending took me one try to get used to it and then a second to actually beat it.
I don't think it should have been frustratingly hard but come on, that was flat out easy. I also hate that you don't get to
kill Tenpenny, I wanted to do that soo bad.
I think I will have to disagree just a little bit on VC. That game did have a nice ending, and at least the final level gave some challenge, and I just overall liked the ending better. I mean come on, that felt good feeling like you
had control over the whole city. :wigout:
To me Suikoden IV had an ending that mad me want to tear out all my hair. first
You take time to find all 108 stars, you train them make them stronger, and all it says for the hero's ending is " After unleashing the rune's true power..."
It dosn't even say what happened to him

To me, the end of Halo 2 really disappointed me. the last level is
almost just like any of the others, except it just ends! I didn't even know the last brute was the final boss until the credits started rolling! ::frustration:: In my opinion, Halo 2 was much too short.

Devil May Cry 1 would have to be the worst ending for me. Ok it may be an old game but that dosnt matter. Anyway after hard work of fighting off Demons, Dante
decides to go home and rename his shop
:animeangr what a wally
Halo 2's ending made me cringe...playing hrs upon hrs to get that "ending" was just insane.
Halo 2 was TOTALY disapointing... nothing even happened!

Pretty much along the lines of "Stay tuned for the next episode of Halo, here in 3-5 short years on a system that doesn't even exist yet, and you'll have to pay $300 MORE to play!"... *BLAH!

This is a difficult thread, I'd ask "why" when people post about a bad ending, but I'm so scared that no one is going to use spoiler tags lol.

There are far more bad endings than good ones, really. I remember back in the NES days when you'd finish a game and usually you'd be treated to "Congratulations!" (or even "Congraturations!" -- seriously). I guess it was a step up from the Atari 2600 days when games never even ended.

I can't think of a recent ending I've been all that disappointed in. I'm sure someone will cite RE4, but I really do not think it was all that bad. Certainly more could have been done, but it was enough... maybe all the unlocked stuff just eased the pain.

What is a game with a very bad ending, discuss this in the thread.

I would have to say that Final Fantasy X has a very bad ending.
That's cause it's meant to have a sequel! Which, by the way, had a bloody terrible ending. XD

Worse ending I ever found was in Altered Beast for the MegaDrive. OMG, battle through x amount of levels with the ****** controller, and, basically, 'congratulations! =D' It was so frustrating, especially because the gameplay didn't amount to much.

That game should have spit money back out at you when you finished it just because it was such a chore to play in the first place. Of all the things for people to be nostalgic over... Altered Beast is so awful.

Well, what do you expect from those old games that you're on about? They?re not supposed to be great in terms of graphics and storylines. You just play them for fun, which is pretty much the intention the developers had for them in the first place. I hate to sound so serious, but that's just how I see it.

Anyway, I can't think of any games with bad endings, although there are plenty among them. Along with bad endings though, I really, really, can't stand long endings. While watching long endings (or sequences even), I've found myself shaking my leg in impatience. So for me, it's short and sweet, but like I said, it's not like you come around the sweet ones every so often. :animesigh

All fighting games except for Namco's have very bad endings. It's actually more appropriate to say they have no endings. It's only in the sequel do you find out what really happens.

I thought Ninja Gaiden's ending (the XBox one) was pretty tame. Yes, everything had closure to it, but I think they should have mentioned
him venturing to America
so as to link the game to the NES trilogy.

Metal Gear Solid 2 was just too mushy and philosophical to me. They were all going on about what's really important in this life and stuff. It just made me gag, haha.

I usually defend Metal Gear Solid 2, but I'm not really going to bother defending the game's ending. I agree that it wasn't very satisfying at all. Maybe the worst non-"Congratulations!!" ending of any game I own lol. It's really anti-climatic.

La Generica brings up a good point - there really are way more bad endings in video games than there are good ones. Even if you completely ignore the past fifteen or so years in video games, I'm pretty sure that you'll find more games that make you say "...that's it?" when you get to the end of them. Of course, most games aren't trying to offer up some multi-layered story with an incredible ending when you play them, anyway. lol

I don't think it's too much to ask for a little scene or even some sort of graphic. Even Pac-Man had little scenes between each group of levels and that was one of the earlier arcade games. Some games honestly just said "Game Over" when you finished them.

Regardless, it doesn't matter to the extent of this discussion "what" they were trying to do, in my opinion.. I'd be hardpressed to say that I was satisified with a "Thanks for Playing!!" message after playing a game even in the early NES days, no matter how much fun I had with the game itself.

I don't remember playing many games where the ending made me go, "whoa, that really sucked". Most of the ones I've played (that I can remember) have had endings that were worth playing the game.

The only one I can think of that I was a bit disappointed though was Tales of Eternia (Tales of Destiny II). That stupid final boss battle that was crappily done to make it seem hard but was so difficult to time that last attack that was required to do in order to win because they didn't give much info on how to do it... (Long sentence, whoa, haha.) And then they give me a not-really-worth-the-irritation kind of ending that didn't make me go "WOW!" but more towards the "hm, that... was so not worth the time." It didn't suck, persay... Just wasn't worth it. ¬¬; Am I the only one who had trouble in doing that last attack? Blah.

So yea... Maybe Tales of Eternia does count in bad endings for me. Hahaha.

I dunno why but the Legend of Zelda endings really make me mad. I finally give all I have and then all this happy stuff goes on during the credits that makes me both glad, depressed, and angry.

Glad 'cause I finally kicked the boss's booty-
Depressed that it's all over-
and just plain Angry 'cause I beat another game and have to wait until Christmas to get another one!!! :animesigh

I agree with Lunai on this one, I've played FF9 a bunch of times, and the ending does kind of suck, although it is a happy ending, and I fell in love with the story, especially after 4 disks of play, and it was a bit disappointing

Finally beat Kingdom Hearts 1, American version (wish it was KH: Final Mix, American version)...

What the... *considers language* ... heck?!
Riku gets sucked into darkness with King Mickey, Kairi gets left all alone on Destiny Islands, and Sora's STILL STUCK ADVENTURING WITH GOOFY AND @#&% DONALD!!! ANSEM DOESN"T DIE FOR 4 BATTLES, AND SORA"S STILL STUCK WITH THAT &%@# DUCK!!! Square doesn't even tell us whether Sora's love interest is really Kairi or Riku (I know I'm a shonen-ai fangirl, but even my 10-year-old mentally-defective brother can point out Riku's innuendos!).
*rants for days on end* I knew this was coming, 'cause it leads into the Chain of Memories intro, but puh-lease!!!
