Heaven's Cloud
I picked up Batman: Gotham Nights #61, Intimates #2 to #4 and MK Spider-Man something or other. Spider-Man was enjoyable, largely because of the events, but it honestly seems like the quality of the writing is slipping. Is it just me?
Spider-Man was okay last week, but I wasn't overly impressed.
I am not sure if I liked the Avenger/Super hero save
. Hopefully the series will have a clean wrap up. It is unfortunate that Mark Millar is ending his run on the series because, so far, he has done a great overall job. Edit: Did Books of Magick: Life During Wartime come out today? I thought it was supposed to, but the local comic shop owner said that it didn't...Am I being lied to? Semjaza
I picked up quite a few books today. Excellent week for comics, as far as I'm concerned. I've only read Ex Machina and the new Runaways opener so far. Ex Machina was good as always. Runaways, however, was simply excellent. It was great seeing the characters return after a few months break. I missed them in a way. The current arc, just based on what was in this issue and what is likely to follow, already seems far better than the whole first run. Really well written, great art... Just more of what made it good in the first place and then some. Pick it up if you haven't.
Doukeshi
I picked up JLA: Classified today which had a pretty good story dealing with the Crime Syndicate of Amerika, who are the Justice League but from a different world. I didn't catch a couple of the previous issues so I don't know the details but I could pick up the gist from what was going on. It looks pretty good. I also got the new Nightwing issue. I like what they're doing at the moment, its a Year One sorta thing where they're dealing with how Dick became Nightwing and a couple of early adventures. I had been going off the guy previously but the writing seems to be picking up. Still not too keen on the artwork though.
Semjaza
I read through all the stuff I picked up last night. Great issues all around, except for one: Astonishing X-Men. Is it just me, or is this comic just falling apart? The last few issues (basically anything since the return of Collosus) have been incredibly disappointing. One even had them battling a Godzilla-knockoff. The ending of the last issue was so ridiculous that I almost threw it down in disgust. I'm not sure if I should even bother with it anymore. Intimates was fucking awesome though. I'm glad HC convinced me to pick it up. It kind of fills that void that was left when X-Statix ended, I think. They remind me of eachother to a strong degree, just really because of the character development and situations. The heroics take a backseat to their normal lives in both series, it's nice. satan665
Hmm, didn't really know this thread existed. I recently got into a couple of new series', the intimates, Invincible. Love of the walking dead got me to try out Invincible since its Kirkman and I'm pretty glad I did. Its only up to #20 so it shouldn't be too hard to catch up. I've also been on a Mike Allred kick ever since I picked up a couple of Red Rocket 7 books. It makes sense to, being that he lives in town and goes to the comic book store I bought them from. I popped on eBay and won the full run of Allred X-Force through X-Statix for cheap. I have a few X-statix issues but its hard to get into one at a time and much more rewarding to read the trades. I love Batman, but the art hasn't been too good lately and I dropped all but Batman, which I hope picks up. The Azzarello,Risso run spoiled me as far as Batman goes. Anyone read Blade of the Immortal? Its my absolute favorite comic for art and story. It would be hard to jump in now near issue 100, but it keeps getting better and better. Highest recommendations.
