Is there any GOOD or PROMISING anime you are expecting in 2005??? If so give us some details about the anime itself and maybe you could also add up by posting a link directing to its trailer if it does have one. Thanks in advance..

Coming to America -

Princess Tutu: I've heard great things about this anime, and lately I've been craving a good dose of shoujo. The official site is located here.

Elfen Lied: One of the best series of 2004, in my opinion, and it's going to look absolutely ravishing on DVD. You can view a trailer at ADV's main page, but people using Firefox might have better luck with this listing.

Kyo Kara Maoh: A thoroughly good-natured fantasy romp with shounen-ai jokes to spare. It has a surprisingly large male fanbase, perhaps thanks to its silly comedy and unthreatening atmosphere.

Phantom Memory Kurau: I've seen only the first two episodes, but that was more than enough to convince me that BONES (Wolf's Rain, Scrapped Princess) had hit all the right marks once again. This seems to be a more serious show, with fluid animation and beautiful music.

Some others: Fantastic Children, Gunslinger Girl, Gravitation OVA, Kenran Butousai, Scrapped Princess, Kodomo no Omocha, Samurai 7, Tactics, Madlax.

Premiering in Japan -

Kino's Journey - Nanika wo Suru Tameni: Kino's Journey (Kino no Tabi) is one of the most thought-provoking and beautiful anime I've ever seen. I can only assume that the upcoming movie will live up to the standard set by the thirteen-episode show.

Loveless: You can't go wrong with cat-girls, cat-boys and a plethora of female-oriented fanservice. Based on a manga by Kouga Yun (who also created Earthian), Loveless is one of the main reasons that 2005 is basically going to be the "Second Impact" of shounen-ai. The series does not yet have an official website, although some lovely character designs have been released. The animation studio in charge of Loveless is J.C. Staff.

Haru wo Daiteita OVA: Haru wo Daiteita is by far my favorite yaoi manga. It starts off as pure, unadulterated smut and slowly, sneakily evolves into something much more moving and meaningful. I don't expect that level of emotional depth from the OVA, but seeing Youko Nitta's character designs in full color and motion will definitely be worth the price of admission.

Sousei no Aquarion: An upcoming mecha series that will probably follow in the footsteps of anime like RahXephon, Evangelion and Soukyuu no Fafner. The trailer is almost too stunning for words; this seems to be a production with respected, experienced staff members and a lot of financial backing.

Eureka Seven: All I really know is that this is another mecha show, animated by Studio BONES (RahXephon, Kenran Butousai). Considering that pretty much everything BONES touches turns to pure gold, and considering how much I enjoyed their other big mecha anime, I have high hopes for Eureka Seven.

Cluster Edge: The character designs are adorable, and it's rumored to be shounen-ai. That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge, heh.

Some others: Trinity Blood, Speed Grapher, Pretty Cure Max Heart, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, episodes 18 through 26 of Samurai Champloo, Kyo Kara Maoh season 2, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. In my sig, you can find links for a couple of the series listed above.
Thanks for the info Dagger :D I'm really looking forward to a domestic release of Elfen Lied.
No problem. Personally I'm kind of concerned that Elfen Lied will get overshadowed by (or treated the same way as) Gantz, another disturbing and ultra-violent anime. This is is almost hysterically ironic, considering that the twenty-six episodes of Gantz are going to be distributed over thirteen DVDs. Unfortunately, I can't help but think that ADV's marketing technique ("Blood! Boobies! Cheap! Too hot for Japanese TV!") just may work out. I'll be very bitter if they try to pull the same thing with Elfen Lied. *sigh*

Oh, I forgot to mention Air Master and Slam Dunk. These are the first titles Toei will be directly releasing in the US. From what I've gathered, Air Master is a twenty-six or twenty-seven episode fighting series... Slam Dunk, as the name implies, revolves around basketball. I think it's something of a fan favorite.

I'm kind of interested in Air Master, because I've heard that the hand-to-hand combat in the series is pretty much unparalleled, but I'm going to wait and see how Toei handles the release (esp. in regards to its English dub).

I visited the official Eureka Seven site today and all I can say is i'm sold on the series. The animation looks like it'll be top-notch and considering the fact I never had the chance to finish Kenran Butou Sai (or Soukyuu no Fafner ;-;) this should be a good pickup to fill the mecha void in my life. Well not that there's a "void" because I just finished downloading episode 15 of Gundam SEED Destiny >_>... But many series produced by BONEs have started to appeal to me over the last few months or so.

Scandalous! Soukyuu no Fafner's ending (and by that I mean the final few episodes) is easily the best part of the show. ;)

Have you seen the trailer for Sousei no Aquarion? It doesn't play too well on my computer, but you might have better luck--just click the button in the center of the page. Even with choppy/erratic video and audio, the clips look pretty amazing; it took me a surprisingly long time to realize that the mecha shown there was CG. If you ever have the chance, be sure to check it out. :)

Wow i'm not sure what to say about the show, I did get the trailer to run perfectly in BSplayer but the show looks like it could be a good mix of a few other great mecha series. While the show originally hit me off as something similar to Soukyuu no Fafner with a hint of Tekkaman Blade thrown in i'm not really sure what to think of it anymore :P. It seems to have a his of escaflowne-ness to it .

On a side note >_>... Is Kenran Butou Sai worth finishing? Soukyuu no Fafner i'm going to finish but probably not until spring break but i'm debating whether or not Kenran is worth the downlolad.

I dropped Kenran around episode fifteen or so, right around when it was licensed. ^_^;; I actually do plan to finish it when it comes out on DVD, but I can't say I felt a huge incredible urge to continue with the show. For whatever it's worth, I've heard that the ending is very well done and fits the series nicely.

On a slightly different note, ADV recently put up a Madlax teaser (just scroll down until you hit the "Madlax" listing). Seeing it has gotten me all re-energized about the show. I was debating whether or not to buy it as it came out, but the trailer reminded me how much I enjoyed certain parts of the series. Plus, it's going to look very lovely on DVD. Fans of Noir or other Bee Train anime should definitely give Madlax a try.
