Onix
Yes, you read right. The Dread Pirate Roberts, legendary scourge of the Seas. For all of you not immediately familiar with the name "Dread Pirate Roberts," you may procede to sterlize yourselves now, as you do not deserve to procreate. Moving on...this will be a farsical comedy revolving around the good-hearted, slightly hapless, and a bit odd Dread Pirate Roberts...well, the new one, anyway. If he can get that far. Bernard Habbershaw was captured by the current Dread Pirate Roberts...who isn't the real Dread Pirate Roberts. He is actually Inigo Montoya. He didn't inherit the name from the real Roberts either. He got it from a man named Westley, who got it from a man named Roy, who got it from a man named Cumberbund. The real Roberts has been retired for 20 years and living like a king with his plunder and wenches. Moving on...Bernard was captured by the DPR (as Dread Pirate Roberts is too time-consuming to type), who promised to kill him. However, Bernard managed to convince the (not-so-evil-and-heartless-afterall) old pirate not to kill him, claiming true love...an utter crock. He just heard that it worked before, and decided to try his luck. Now, he has to become an accomplished man of the see, outwit the various armadas out for Roberts' hide, and find a "True Love" before he ends up dead in the water. Fun, eh? ***** Tales of the Dread Pirate Roberts will be running far more structured-ly (not a word, I know) than my previous RPGs as I finally implement...the Chapter System! Woo. Before the Sign-Up form, there are some roles I'd like filled: Bernard - ULX (obviously) Inigo Montoya - The "True Love" - Some Salty Sea-Dogs - Bernards wily and sarcastic best-friend (which all good adventurers need, eh?) - The Armada Leader(s) - Anything else is fair game. SIGN-UP Name: Obvious. There is a strong European-ness to the Princess Bride world, which will be carried over here. Names like Westley, Inigo, Fezzik, Vizzini, Max, Valerie, and Tyrone are not out of place. Age: Runs the gammut, really. Inigo is not going to be 17, the True Love isn't 50, and the Armada Leader(s) aren't 10. Go wild, but use yer 'eads, mates. Gender: Bernard is not gay. He isn't. Don't listen to his best friend, cause he isn't gay. At all. Role: If you are playing one of the afore-mentioned roles. Weaponry?: Not everbody needs weapons, but the Sea-Dogs are obviously armed. Special Skills: No magic powers, no eastern martial arts. Boxing, fencing, wrestling, science, tracking, etc. Appearance: Personality: Bio: Now, the HERO: Name: Bernard Habbershaw (this is perhaps my favorite name to date) Age: 21 Gender: Male Role: The Hero/Bernard Weaponry?: Bernard is armed with your standard rapier. Nothing special. No finely crafted blade, forged by his wise master who was killed by a band of brigands. Just a sword he picked up in a pawn shop, okay? Special Skills: Fencing, a fair bit of hand-to-hand, sailing, and above-average survival skills. Appearance: I'll find a pic later... Personality: Brain-dying. Later. Bio: Refer above. This will be in the same vein as The Azure Prince: convention demolishing satire, so go wild. Be funny, be wacky, be clever and crass and witty and quixiotic (bonus points to anyone who knows what that means). -ULX
Pumpkin
OOC : I was suprised when I saw this! I love the Princess bride, thank you for this RPG. One Question Can I be Buttercup? lol j/k. I hope I can make up my own character in this as well. Hope that is okay. Fit me in whatever category if you must, Inigo rules. By the way the rest is coming soon. Name: Galendra Cadwell Age: 19 Gender: Female Role: Sea-Dogs (Pirate right) Weaponry: Carries two daggers on the side of her pockets. Special Skills: Fencing and Tracking Appearance: Personality: She has never been one to trust men, let alone people. She seems mean, but most that know her just realize she is strict and see her as a good pirate among the sea. She has loved the sea since she was a child, and has always been stubborn but good nature. She's not untrustworthy, and always keeps her word. Even if the consequence is death. She fights with honor and bravery, and is not scared of almost anything (spiders are her worst fear) and is skilled in most fighting techniques. Admired for her fighting, she has trouble making friends since she comes off as indimidating. Bio: Galendra grew up in the country with her father and her mother in a small village. Everyone in the village was close to one another, that is why when Inigo Montoya's father died, most people were in grief. She was a small child then, with not so much of a memory, but it was said left scars upon his face. One day Prince Humperdink (bad spelling) had arrived at their home and forced them to pay a tax or else they could not keep their home. Not having much money, they were forced out of their own house. They stayed in many homes, until word got out that anyone who was seen holding them in their stay would also be kicked from their homes. The village people had to hide them but it was no use. They were no longer welcome. Starving, they fled into the jungle to search for food. They were chased by wolfs, exhausted, her mother and father fell behind. She had tried to run back to save them but they had insisted her to keep on running. Her parents both died. And she was left homeless and all alone. By age 15, Galenda was working at a saloon, serving drinks where she came across a paper that read "New Opportunity in America". Interested, she decided she needed to start her life over. Scraping every penny she has, she traveled on a boat headed towards America. She was soon stopped by the Dread Pirate Robert's ship, and when they were about to slaughter her, she did not hesitate. "Why are you not scared girl?" They asked confused. She did not fear death she said because there was nothing left to lose. Amused by her bravery, he let her live for a week to prove her usefulness. Providing hard tasks and chores, Grendela proved herself to be as useful as the men on board. He soon promoted her to become a head pirate. Now her goal is to make enough money as she can, and to make use of her life, and maybe to find something that's been missing in her life all along. elfpirate
I, too, am a huge fan of The Princess Bride, [and pirates in general--note the screen name ;) ] so this immediately caught my attention, though I must admit, I am new to both RPG's and computers in general, so you might have to put up with some general stupidity from me. I would like to join as: Name: Rowan Macpherson Age: 17 Gender: female Role: sea dog (possibly the True Love?) Specialties: Swordsmaster, stealth, and expert of weapons and infiltration Weapons: Though proficient with any weapon, her duel swords are her weapons of choice. Appearance: Beautiful as a young woman, though she bears a scar across her cheek and brow, and is able to disguise herself quite well as a male, despite her beauty. Personality: Mysterious and quiet, though extremely intelligent. She is always there when her crew needs her and tends to watch over them vigilantly even when they don't realize that she's there. She would give her life for her crew in an instant, though there are few that can match her in her skill, and it is unlikely that she would be bested in battle. She is loyal to her shipmates, but lethal to her enemies... and not one to be trifled with. Bio:Orphaned at a young age, Rowan (out of necessity for survival) learned quickly the art of stealth and theivery... an art that she had nearly mastered when she was unexpectedly caught by one of her victims. After beating her rather harshly and leaving her with a scar across her cheeck and brow, the man then took pity on her for her malnourished and pathetic state. He decided to take her in and nurse her back to health. During that time, he became attached to her and decided that he would train her in weaponry. Seeing her as an adopted daughter, he feared for her life if she were ever captured by someone less forgiving than himself, and knew that if she were going to survive, she would have to know how to properly defend herself. She trained under him for several years until the old man fell ill and died. Having nowhere else to go, she took a job on the docks and quickly fell in love with both the sea and the ships that sailed them. She made up her mind to set out to sea and leave her homeland and all of her painful memories behind. She knew that the sailors would never allow her on their ships, as females were considered bad luck on any sea voyage, so she disguised herself as a boy and joined a crew bound for a whale-hunting voyage in Greenland. In the middle of the night, their ship came under attack by the Dread Pirate Robert's and his crew. She fought to the teeth, and was the only member of her crew that was spared- simply out of respect for her fighting prowess and expert swordsmanship. The pirates took her on as one of their own, though haven't yet discovered that she is female. She keeps her secret, believing that she will be killed if her identity is discovered. She soons becomes an indispensible member of the crew and is well-respected ( and somewhat feared) by all of her ship-mates-- and dreaded by their victims for her skills. She discovers that piracy is like second-nature to her and takes to it immediately. She is quite mysterious, however, and doesn't speak a whole lot to anyone, lest her voice reveal her gender. Although this bothers her shipmates a bit, they know that she is an excellent pirate and that they can count on her in any situation. They constantly try to get her to share her thoughts but she rarely says a word. After a while, they learn to read her expressions quite well and seem to understand what she's thinking... but they constantly try to get her to open up and speak...or to join in a shantie... but they know when to stop pushing her when they see a flash of irritation behind her eyes (- she is not one to be messed with...) Her crew is always being startled by her presence... suddenly, they'll catch sight of her sitting in the darkness, watching the sea or the stars... and they'll swear that she wasn't there a second ago... though she had been sitting there for quite some time... just watching everything around her... as silent as the shadows themselves... She loves and respects her shipmates deeply ( after all... they've become her family), but she won't reveal her feelings to anyone... at least not intentionally...
