And why. You have to tell why or else the thread is just pointless, right? And it doesn't have to be your favorite favorite. It can just be one that stuck in your mind for a while. And don't forget band name and maybe the name of the song too. Oh, and you can do more than one.

Mine is one I saw last night/this morning at 4:58AM on Nogin. It was NewFound Glory's I don't want to know video from their Catalyst album. The reason it's so memorable to me is because they showed an interacial couple going through all this stuff in a relationship on a park bench. I liked how they went through the seasons too. But I think the most memorable part of the video was the fact that it was an interacial couple. You don't get too many of those.

I think my favorite one of all time was Cyndi Lauper's Girl's just want to have fun video from back in the 80's. She had a pro wrestler playing her dad and all these girls were running through the house freaking the guy out. I remember this one because Seaseme street had Prairie Dawn doing a version of the song where she sings about brushing her teeth. Aw those were the days... sorry, flash back.

So, what are some of your favorites and most memorable music videos?

It should almost go without saying, but I'm saying it anyway. Michael Jackson has made some of my all-time favorite music videos.

Thriller
One of the longest music videos of all time, and just fun at watch on Halloween. The dance of the zombies is one of the few choreographed dances that anyone of any age can identify. Vincent Price is The Man. And who could forget Michael with the zombie-face? A preview of things to come, I assure you.

Billie-Jean
The glowing side-walk slabs. 'Nuff said.

Smooth Criminal
Come on. He shot half the people in the room without using a gun. Who else can get away with that? And who isn't familiar with the lean? The massive groping scene half-way through the video made this complete.

Remember the Time
Sand.

Scream
One of the most expensive music videos of all-time. The set was huge and the special effects costed a grip. The only reason few (if any) videos have surpassed this one in price is because the special effects have gotten less expensive to make. It also had Janet, who I was completely in love with when her music was good. Jeeze, have you heard Damita Jo?

Moving away from the Jackson family...

Now, I was never a fan of the Backstreet Boys, but I loved the video for The Call. When I saw that video, my initial reaction was "holy [censorship]! Did they just get shot?!"

I can't walk away from this thread without mentioning Virtual Insanity by Jamaroquoi. There's nothing more fun than moving walls. His crazy hat only helped make the video more memorable, in my opinion. Then there's the weird blood on the floor, and those roaches. The video made absolutely no sense, and that's what was so insane... virtually.

My, my. The one video that sticks in my mind? I haven't watched music videos in so long. Well, the one that immediately pops into my head is Marylin Manson's revamp of "Tainted Love". Maybe it's because I just watched Party Monster, and he was in that..Any how, I don't know if the music video to his version ever played on television, but it's on the DVD of Not Another Teen Movie.

Now, I'm not a big fan of this next band, but their video really stands out. Bowling for Soup's "1985". C'mon, all of the 80's referrence just forces me to watch it.

One more that screams at me is A Perfect Circle's "Outsider". This is the video that inspired me to create the Bikini Bandits. Several women dressed in bikini's running about a neighborhood destroying lawns and making naughty gestures..yeah, that would leave a mark in your mind.

As undeniably gritty as it is, I've always loved the video for "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. First off, "Closer" is a great song. Second, there's just so much craziness going on in the video that I can't adequately describe it lol. It's just so bizarre, but it's really a great, great video.

Pick and choose any of Weird Al Yankovic's videos, and I'll undoubtedly love any of them. In my opinion his videos are just genius, and actually make his songs funnier than they already are. I honestly don't think I could choose my favorite video of his.

Perfect by Simple Plan. Even if you don't like Simple Plan, This video is true about anyone. Your parents want you to be perfect, and you can't be perfect. It just felt so right.
Honorable mentions:
Beautiful by Christina Agulara: Yet again, as true as it gets.
Don't want to miss a thing by Aerosmith: I litterally cried.
What's My Age Again? by Blink 182: Let's all run around naked.
Amish Paradise by Weird Al: More laughs than some ENTIRE movies.

Hmm...lets see. I've always been a fan of Blink 182's music videos, which are usually pretty funny.

I also like a few 80's videos like Thriller and Take on Me.

The best video I've seen lately has to be Go with the Flow by the Queens of the Stone Age. Their use of black, red, and white (my favorite colors) really creates a visually stunning video. Plus the song Rocks!

....but thats just my opinion. :D

Aww! He took my answer! I was going to say Take on Me by Ah-Ha as well. That was practically revolutionary back in the day. A perfect mixture of real footage and animation, with extremely cool transitions to back it up.

The best part was when they had the screen cut in half, and it was half animation and half footage. That was just the neatest thing I saw back then, and it still pretty much is.

Besides that, I'd have to go with the Black and White video from Michael Jackson. :D

The video for Got the Life by KoRn has always left an imprint on me heh. It's a song they wrote about fame and expectation, and as such they live out some famous people's dreams I guess: Destroying fast cars, smashing paparazzi cameras, etc etc.

After that would be Freak on a Leash (also by KoRn) cause of the coolness of it all. It starts off in an animation done by the guy who does Spawn, then merges into realness and you watch the bullet from the cartoon just smash through everything in it's path, till it gets rebounded and goes back into the animation. Very cool clip.

The video for "Chop Seuy" by System of a Down was cool. They, like, totally, like, melted into each other. It was so rad.

There is a promo ad for an abandoned TV show in Britian which featured The Who doing sketch comedy . The show never got aired, but the advert for it was the song "Happy Jack". It resurfaced on The Who's documentary "The Kids Are Alright". It's funny. You should see it and laugh.

Any Beatles video will do as well. Just 'cause.

Honestly I haven't watched many music videos, or at least I can't recall many. But out of the ones I have seen/remembered I Disappear by Metallica would be my favourite, it was actually the music video that got me into Metallica in the first place, the video itself comes on the Mission Impossible II DVD. Actually sitting here I can't recall any music videos I like apart from I Disappear, and all together I can only think of about six I've seen. Perhaps that comes from either never watching MTV or sitting here typing this at nearly 6 AM.

Hmmm acouple favorites? well definately "Breaking The Habit" by Linkin Park, its very cool that they put anime-style animation into their music videos. Really is different from the most standard videos that you get. Another one that sticks to my mind really is that song "You and me baby ain't nothing but mammals so lets do it like they do on the discovery channel" by the bloodhound gang. Come on you know you loved that song ^.~ lol I liked the video where they were dressed as monkeys. dancing monkeys. you gotta love it. Also another video that sticks to mind is "The real slim shady" by Eminem. Yes seeing a bunch of blonde headed white boys walking around in jeans and a white t-shirt amuses me. What of it? It does infact stick in your head.

It is hard for me to pick a favorite music video because I am not all that interested in the videos themselves. Usually if I like the song I like the video, not vice versa. So here are some videos that I think had quite an impact on the music industry.

Thriller- I remember this video scaring me when I was a wee tike, but I really liked it when I was a little older. When I was a little kid (kindergarden or so) Michael Jackson was considered really cool and not at all a spooky bizarre alleged pedophile, and his Thriller video was one of the coolest things anyone had ever seen, definitely the most influential music video ever.

November Rain- Guns and Roses was very popular before November Rain came out, however, this huge powerful ballad video, with orchestral background, really launched G&R into mega-stardom.

Straight Up- Not a very good video, but Paula Abdul was the first woman I found hot so I thought it was worth mentioning.

Cryin?- The video for Cryin? launched Aerosmith?s return as the most popular American rock band of the time. Most of this was due to Alicia Silverstone, the poster girl of the mid nineties.

Sweet Dreams- Manson gave us something we really hadn?t seen before, and whether you liked or hated the video you couldn?t deny its unique-ness (which is ironic considering it is a cover song).

So many great videos have already been mentioned. Here is my short list of videos that I could come up with off the top of my head.

Virtual Insanity, Jamiroquai: Stunning video. The way the room moves while Jay Kay dances around the room is so simple but effective. The song is great and the Jay's dancing makes this video simply amazing. No flashy special effect, no half naked dancing girls, no overused video cliches...just bare walls, sofa and chair for Jay to dance around as the wall moves and turns. I love it!

Every Breath You Take, The Police: This black and white video is perfect to set the mood of the song. Sting playing the double bass singing his haunting lyrics really is a perfect blend with the black and white medium. It is no wonder that the video won Best Cinematography at the first MTV awards. Nothing like a good stalker song!

A-Ha: Take on Me: This video is the first time we see rotoscoping in a music video. It is perfect for a music video, not so good when using it for an animated film (ie Bakshi infamous Lord of the Rings). I remember seeing this video for the first time and being totally amazed by the visuals. It still rocks today.

Jeremy, Pearl Jam: What can I say, I love Pearl Jam. An amazing song and video about bullying, parents who don't understand and teen suicide...basically being a teenager. It is such a strong visual piece it produced so much controversy that the band didn't make videos for six years. Lots of symbolism in the piece. Absolutely love the song, the band and this video.

I Believe in a Thing Called Love, The Darkness: What can I say, I am a sucker for a great cheesy glam rock video. Space ship, space squid and super power lasers that shoot out of Justin Hawkins' lovely flower crown...how could you possibly go wrong with that! Love it, absolutely love it!

Perfect Drug, Nine Inch Nails: Very Poe-esque, Mark Romanek is one of my favorite directors. I think that Trent Reznor is very sexy in this video. The blue shade of the entire video sets this eerie mood that is perfect for the dark and brooding gothic look of the band. Beautifully filmed each shot of the piece is a wonderful piece of art.

And of course any They Might Be Giants video. Ana Ng, Don't Let Start, Birdhouse in Your Soul...all great videos. The Johns are very witty guys and their personalities really come through in their music videos. They really do rock my socks.

I'd have to say my fav music video is the one for "Breaking the Habit" by Linkin Park.

It goes so well with the song, and it's all drawn. And the Linkin Park band members are in it. It's got feeling to it, and the way it's drawn is intriging (sp?).

Well, I think my favorite music video lately is Drop It Like It's Hot with Snoop Dogg and Pharrell. I think it's just really cool looking and the song just sounds really pimp. Plus pharrell is freakin so hot in it too. :)

I don't watch a whole lot of music videos but there are a couple that stand out to me. I definitely agree with Thriller - I've had so much fun in theatre trying to remake that dance it's ridiculous, lol.

Next to that, I've always loved Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice video. Yes, this is the one where Christopher Walken dances through the entire thing in some crazy hotel lobby. It's so beautiful, and every time I think about it I want to get up and start dancing down hallways and on furniture.

Ooh, that's a good one, too. I'm not too into Fatboy Slim, myself, but that video rocks. Christopher Walken is the man. :D

Oh yeah, Radiohead is always good for nifty videos, as well. I like "Knives Out" in particular.

I'd have to agree with Weapon of Choice, it's just such a cool video. lol

I think my favourite is probably Windowlicker, by Aphex Twin. It goes for about ten minutes and the first five minutes is just really stupid and funny. It also includes two very cool remixes of the song within the clip (as the clip is kind of like a story/movie) - oh how I wish they'd released those seperately.

When you combine the homage to Michael Jackson (albeit a grotesque homage) and the really cool/funny combination of sexy bodies/grotesque faces, I think you have a classic. ~_^

Thriller is good. I also like most of Marilyn Manson's videos.

I'd say the best one I've seen is Pearl Jam's "Do the Evolution". It's a great animated video. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned yet. I'm even more surprised that I was the one to bring it up first considering I can't stand the group.

"Go with the Flow", as mentioned, is also an excellent video. The use of color is something that I really enjoy (I go for similar things with a lot of my work). There's also a ton of simple symbolism in it that I think is pulled off well.

OOOHH, interesting topic. Anyway
1.KoRn: Freak on a Leash. Its just so cool how it starts off as this wierd animation, goes to regular, then goes back to the animation.
2.Alot of Wierd Al's videos. What can I say, they're pretty funny.
3.Linkin Park:Breaking the habit. Its kinda like watching a mini anime.
4.KoRn:Word Up. What can I say? It has dogs with human heads. Creepy and entertaining.
5.Pearl Jam: Do the Evolution. I have to agree with Semjaza Azazel . Its a really good animated video.

I loved Linkin Park's "Breaking The Habit." Great animation, great band. I thought the imagery was terriffic. :) BTW, the video is anime. The guy who did the anime bits for "Kill Bill" did it. Not only that, in LP's "Somewhere I belong" video, on the shelf was some Gundam models. They were Wing Zero Custom, the unit 2 full Verionion Gundam, Char's Sasabi, and I forget what the last one was. Maybe someone in LP is a anime fan. :D I can also sypathize with many of their songs. Mostly "Somewhere I belong." And I loved Daft Punk's alblum that had the great Leji Matsumoto do the animation for the videos. Great stuff. I was exspecting Harlock to have a guest shot or somthing. That would've been cool.
I also liked U2's "Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me", from "Batman Forever". It was very cool, and looked liked a comic. Not many people know this one, but it was "Reel Big Fish's "She has a girlfriend now." It was silly, very silly indeed. Another fun one would be Denis Leary's "Merry ******* Christmas" video that was on "Mad TV." Very funny video, and a very funny song.
And lastly, Godsmack's "I stand alone". From "The Scorpion King" soundtrack. It was an okay movie, but Godsmack is a great band, esspecially since their from my hometown of Boston!
(86 Years! The curse has been Broken! Now let's get Drunk! Boston Pride! )

I'm not a Sox fan, I just love my town.

"KAMEHAMEHA!"
