Cool Backgrounds!

They look cool, but they're the product of about 4 consecutive filter effects. Tops.

The first one looks like a black/purple neon rose, which is cool. The only thing is, it looks like you only used a radial blur, in addition to a few more filters. You could've done without the four stars in the corners, which don't really contribute anything except a hinderance to the focal point of the rose (center of it all).

The second one looks cool as well, and is more intricate than the first. But still, it looks like some sort of radial spin/blur to give it that swirl effect. The navy blue/black in spots detracts from the coolness of the sky blue of the rest of it all.

I'll give it a 5/10. Don't take this the wrong way, that I'm mean or something. You're on the right track. The trick is to use filters without looking like you used them. :)
Stick with it, and you'll be great! How long have you been using photoshop/whatever graphic program?

I'm gonna agree with Altron on the first one... the stars/lens flare/whatever that is in the corners really doesn't go well with the rest of it. Still kinda cool though, with the whole neon rose thing going on (as already pointed out) This would've been hella cool without the little star things T_T
The second one is pretty cool too~ makes me think of smoke XD but it looks like something that's had a filter applied to it and then just smudged around or something O_o and maybe a different BG other than black (navy?) would have been nicer? (which I think was also already mentioned ^^; )
a bit random... but moving the text on the second one so the t (I think it's a t?) isn't cut off of the end might make it a tad better as well (but now I'm just being weird about it)

Like Altron said, they're nice but also look pretty manufactured.

ha, ha, I don't think i said anything that wasn't already mentioned T_T *shot dead*
