Zenriek
Post riddles you've found or have made and see if anyone can solve them. Alright, there's a riddle in my agenda that took me a while to figure out, but I'm still not sure is right. A lot of people in my class are saying that I'm wrong and such, so I decided to post the riddle here. If today is Friday, what is the day that follows the day that comes after the day that precedes the day before yesterday? It got me really confused at first. I think it's Wednesday. Figure it out and tell me what you got. (I didn't know where to put this thread, so I just put it here...)
elfpirate
I figured it out to be Thursday, but don't quote me on that because I've been up for days without sleep and am no longer functioning at optimum capacity... *elfpirate drools down the front of her shirt while staring at a crack on the wall...* yeah- I think it's Thursday... This thread has the potential to get spammy, I think... maybe people could post other riddles?
Zenriek
Thursday? Hmm... I'll try it again when I get home, but I'm at school right now. Having other people post riddles is a good idea. Alright then, everyone else shall post riddles! Post!
Panda
It is Thursday because there are two negatives and only one positive which would leave it on yesterday. This thread does have the potential to become spammy but as long as we open it up to be a riddles thread I see no harm in it. Keeping to that plan, here is a riddle for everyone! I start with the letter E. I end with the letter E. I usually contain only one letter Yet I am not the letter E! What am I? I am not the best riddler so hopefully Sara will be here soon to really ask some good ones!
Retribution
Envelope. It starts with E, end's in E, and only contains one letter. w00t to me. And I got ... monday for the first riddle. I worked backwards. And sorry, I can't contribute any good riddles.
Panda
You rock Altron! Envelope is the correct answer! I will add another riddle for you since you said you couldn't add one. Think of it as your prize since you got my riddle right. My first is in Sally and in Sam My second is in Ian but not in John My third is in Mark and in Mandy My fourth is in Owen but not in Kevin My last is in Jason but not in Matthew Who am I? elfpirate
I think you're Simon- because if you use the common letters (or uncommon letters, as the case may be) in each set, you come up with Simon. ...and I'm trying to remember some riddles for this... but I'm quite sleep deprived at the moment. I did get the first one, as well (the envelope one) but didn't want to respond w/o adding another riddle...so I'll get some riddles going in a moment. Retribution
Is the answer Samson? I really have no idea how to solve this one, except choosing which letter fits in and is excluded in each name. It's probably wrong. Meh. Thanks for my prize, Panda, but I have no riddle to riddle you with.
elfpirate
Okay, I thought of one, but it's kinda lame. He starts and ends two common English words- one painful in love and the other painful in everyday matters. What two words does he begin and end? I'll come up with some better ones in the future...I swear...
sinna
Here's one: I am mountains without stone, Forests without trees, Oceans without water, And land without earth. What am I?
elfpirate
That's a good one, Sinna... I have no idea...but you can bet I'll be trying to figure it out until I do...or until someone else posts the answer :smirk: Here's another: I am a 9- letter English word. I am a new English word every time you take away a single letter... from 9 letters down to one. What word am I and what are the words that are created by removing my letters one by one? This one, too, is kind of lame because I'm sure there has to be more answers than just the one... sigh... I'm doing my best with this state of caffeine-induced quasi-consciousness... Panda
The answer to my riddle is Simon! You rock elfpirate! Let's keep this from getting spammy by explaining how you came up with your answer. Now, moving on to the new riddles...
He starts and ends two common English words- one painful in love and the other painful in everyday matters. What two words does he begin and end?
Heartache and Headache. The "he" in question are the first two and last two letters in the words heartache and headache.
I am mountains without stone, Forests without trees, Oceans without water, And land without earth. What am I?
I think you are a map! Maps have all those geological features but they are only drawn on paper, not the actual items.
I am a 9- letter English word. I am a new English word every time you take away a single letter... from 9 letters down to one. What word am I and what are the words that are created by removing my letters one by one?
The first word is startling. Taking a letter away from each subsequent word results in the following list: starting, staring, string, sting, sing, sin, in and I. My contribution to the thread is this riddle: What do these 3 things have in common? Dogs, Diamonds and Double-plays?
Retribution
Here's one: I am mountains without stone, Forests without trees, Oceans without water, And land without earth. What am I?
Nothing. And I have no idea about your new riddle, elf-pirate. Sorry if my post was short/spammy, as I have nothing but an answer to contribute to this discussion. -_-;;
sinna
One point to Panda. Here's another: I bite with no teeth, I sting with no stinger, I kill with no blood. What am I? QUOTE]What do these 3 things have in common? Dogs, Diamonds and Double-plays?
Far as I can figure they all have the letters d and o in them. Thats my lame attempt at solving riddles. Gin
Bleh all the ones I know have been answered but for the: What do these 3 things have in common? Dogs, Diamonds and Double-plays? I?m going with the D and O too? plus the D is the first letter for each. ...I suppose if I spent some time thinking about it I might come up with the anwser but *sighs* Oh and: I bite with no teeth, I sting with no stinger, I kill with no blood. What am I? Might you be poison? I er? don?t really know how to say I got this answer. But poison doesn?t sting you or bite you and it draws no blood? you could also die of natural causes I suppose? like old age? But anyways I have one too: You go to a village and the people are going to kill you. They tell you that if you tell a lie you will be thrown in to a pit of lava and if you tell the truth you will be drowned. What do you do to escape? Bleh I can?t remember the correcting wording but still I like that one. I have actually quite a few more but I?ll wait till you guys get the answer to this one!^^
Baron Samedi
@Thread-starter: Thursday. @Sinna: Is the answer Ice, or Wind? Ice and Wind can be biting, and they can sting you, but they can also kill you... @Junkokaiba: Say: "I will be thrown in the lava". Thats an old one, lol. Now a riddle for people who like old movies ;) You come upon two old men guarding two old doors. One door leads to safety, One door leads to Death. One of the Guardians will always lie, the other tells only the truth. Using one question directed at one Guardian, how do you find out which door you should enter?
Morpheus
The question is "Are you a guardian?" If he says yes, enter his door. If he says no, enter the other door.
Panda
Sorry I wandered away from this thread for so long. I missed a few good riddles. I will use spoiler tags if some of you still want a shot at guessing. The answer to my question is this:
They are all someone?s best friend. Dogs:Man, Diamonds:Girls, Double Plays:Baseball
I will have to think about some of the new riddles. If I have a guess I will be back to edit in my answers. Sheesh, I forgot to add the riddle I was going to ask everyone! I think I need to go to bed. If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter "A"? Baron Samedi
Sorry Morpheus, you're wrong. And neither Guardian is guarding a specific door, heh. @Panda: One hundred and one?
Morpheus
Baron: How about "Which door should I go in, and what color is it?" Panda: One Thousand.
DarkOtakuBoy
You come upon two old men guarding two old doors. One door leads to safety, One door leads to Death. One of the Guardians will always lie, the other tells only the truth. Using one question directed at one Guardian, how do you find out which door you should enter?
Years ago, I also heard that riddle with two computers, so I'm thinking its the same answer. Answer: What door would you tell the other guardian not to go through? Somehow you get the same answer no matter which guardian you ask, right? Me and my friends tried SO hard to figure out how it exactly works and couldn't. (again, i heard it with computers and trap doors instead of guardians. but it sounds like the same riddle.) My riddle: (sorry if its too easy) A man is driving fast down a road in a jet black car, duing a town-wide power failure. And his headlights were broken. A man in all black, black hood and everything is walking on the newly paved black road. The man in the car, about to hit him, suddenly stopped short and he avoided hitting the man in black. How did the man in the car know to stop?
instantramen14
It was during the day. Here's mine "I am in rock but not in stone I'm in marrow but not in bone I'm in bloster, not in bed. I'm not living I'm not dead. What am I?
Panda
The answer to mine is One Thousand. Morpheus you got it right! Baron, I have no idea on yours. I like DarkOtakuBoy's answer. It seems like it would be one of those roundabout questions. I do have an answer for instantramen14's riddle!
I am in rock but not in stone I'm in marrow but not in bone I'm in bloster, not in bed. I'm not living I'm not dead. What am I?
You are the letter "R"! The letter R is in rock but not stone, in marrow but not bone, in bloster and not in bed. Since it is a letter it is not alive or dead! Here is another riddle for you guys! It's an easy one. Forward I am heavy, but backward I am not. What am I?
Morpheus
C'mon Panda: Ton. Is the question "Which door is right, and which door would the other guardian say is right?" If you get the liar, he will tell you the wrong door and say that the truth teller will choose the same door. Only one part of the statement is false, but that makes it a lie.You would then choose the door he didn't mention. If you get the truth teller, he will tell you that he will choose one door and the liar will choose the other. You then choose the door he said was right. Here's mine: Jon has been told that he will be a part of a performance of a Marvolous one-man show when one of the actors dies. Is it possible for John to get from Hollywood to New York and back in 2 days?
Decadence
Ok since I have no idea what the answer to morpheus' is, or how its a riddle I think i'll just put one up. ( I personaly hate it) I am a 7 letter word I came before god. I am more powerful then god. I amMore evil then the devi.l The rich need me. The poor have me. Every thing came from me. And to me everything shall go. What am I?
