All right, I was wondering where?s the farthest place you have gone to visit, why you decided to go to that place, and what did you do? :therock:

I myself have recently, two summers ago, visited Iceland. I was there to visit my family, which was awesome. While I was there, I went to the beautiful Island called Vestmannu Island. The town?s houses were painted with lots of colors: red, orange, blue, gray, white, yellow, green and purple. It greatly resembled a rainbow. The townspeople, at that time, were celebrating a volcano that had not erupted in over thirty years, so they had a big airplane stunt show. Puffins covered the cliffs of the Vestmannu Island, so it was a significant photo opportunity. :freak:

However, the best part of my trip was going to all the breathtaking water sceneries. The beaches there have hundreds of shells of all sizes and color spread across the wet, dark sanded beach. I also went swimming in the Blue Lagoon, which people from all over the world come to swim in. Supposedly, the lagoon is known for its healing powers, but I have been in there tons of times, and I think it?s bogus. :smirk: :blah:

Okay, okay, okay I also went to the one of biggest waterfalls in Iceland, Gulfoss. The water was clear with mist covering the bottom fall, and the most beautiful rainbow shinned over it all making it outstandingly perfect for taking pictures. There was the coolest cave underneath the waterfall that made it even cooler.

:grumble: Anyways that was my farthest trip!!!!!!!!! :grumble:

Fathest I've gone? I live in California and I've never been out of the U.S before, so the farthest place I've ever visited would have to be New York. Manhattan too. Its a huge city and nice to look at. I'm going to mexico for the summer and I might go to Venice or Paris in Europe as well. I'm probably going to visit Hungary too so I'm looking forward to finally seeing anything other then the state (its just different you know?) so yeah.

Since I live in Australia, the farthest I've been was to the USA. More specifically Florida, California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona.

My dad took us there on a business/holiday trip. Lol. My dad's a stonefruit grower so we looked at peaches all the way around America. Quite funny. But we went to DisneyWorld and stuff like that. Lol.

I live in the States, Washington state to be exact. The farthest place I have traveled was the Bahamas. I have been there twice. I doubt I will go again since it was actually a bit depressing. The first visit wasn't that bad since I had gone there while on a cruise ship. We came into port and basically stuck around in the touristy areas which were pretty nice. My second trip back was more of an eye opener.

My husband use to be a banner pilot in Florida. His former boss owns part of Chalks. Chalks is a sea plane company. He gave us tickets to the Bahamas for our wedding gift. We flew out of Miami and first stopped at North Bimini. This picture I found on line and I wanted to use it as a visual.

The white building on the right is the Customs officer's office. Where the plane is going is towards a ramp to get on the land. The three story building is actually the thing that made us feel that we weren't in the States anymore.

On the right side of the building in really big black messy letters was spray painted the message. "NEVIL SHUNT YOU ARE NEXT!". Needless to say we just hoped that who ever wanted to get Nevil didn't come back right then and mistake us for Nevil! From there we flew out to Paradise Island. To get to the resort we were staying at we had to drive past the residential area. It was very economically depressed area. A major contrast between the big money resorts and tourist traps. It really made you feel guilty for going on a vacation seeing how many of these people live. Of course without the tourist they wouldn't have employment so in a weird symbiotic relationship where everyone is benefiting in some small way.

We stayed one week then got back on the sea plane to fly back to Miami. It really was an eye opener. I really don't think I will ever go back to the Bahamas again.

Michigan. It took three days by car and is the farthest place I've been to.

We went there (me, my mom, dad, sister, and 2 brothers) because my dad's parents (plus one step-mom) lives there, and we were going to visit them.

We had sort of a family reunion there... Well, sort of. Most of my dad's family members and their friends came there and we had a barbecue and watched the fireworks (it was the fourth of July).

Then we went home after about a week of doing almost nothing (we saw family members and friends off and on).

It was fun, but also long and tiring.

I live in the USA, and like Panda, I live specifically in Washington state. Four years ago, I lived in England. When I was there, the farthest I traveled was Translyvania. A pretty depressing place in parts because of all of the people living in the streets, a lot of uneducated people, and many orphans as well.

The reason for going to Translyvannia was to give one kindergarden class construction paper, and also...in Romania, give this one orphanage money for a milking cow, and tractor. Also, we went to this one hospital with a bunch of mamed people living. We gave them stuffed animals that we collected. Some of them were so cute, and I was really happy. One mentally challanged man received a Tickle-Me-Elmo. He was so happy. He laughed and laughed.

I also got to see Dracula's castle while on that trip. Spooky place!

The farthest I've ever been would be to the Virgin Islands. Those are US territories, so therefore, I technically have never been outside of the US. I went there when I was 10 for a family reunion. And it was SO awesome. I went into the water, and I saw small tropical fish swim by, and I could actually see my toes!

That's a new experience for me at the beach, because in the States, our water is surprisingly dirty compared to other places.

I hope you like it here Aggiegirl! It'll be winter when you come here.

Sydney's pretty cool. Just don't go to the dodgy places. Lol.

And since you're going to Cairns, you'll probably stop at Brisbane! That's where I'm going to move to in a couple of weeks!

Enjoy yourself!

I've been to every state West of the Mississippi river and 3 States East of it. I've been to Mexico, but that wasn't too far at the time because I lived so close to the border that I could have beaned a Mexican national with a rock if I had felt like being a scumbag.

I've also been to Canada- Vancouver, to be exact, and lived in Hawai'i...

I'm not really sure where the farthest place I've travelled to is, because my travels always begin at different parts of the nation, but I've done quite a bit of travelling. Mostly in the US, though... so far. I plan to move to Australia or New Zealand within the next six months...

The farthest place I've been has to be when I came to Australia from Malaysia. My parents, my brother and I haven't left Western Australia since we got here, 15 years ago *groans* My sister's actually in Malaysia right now, so she's lucky that she's left WA, it gets pretty dull around here.

I'm from Canada and the farthest I've been in Canada is Quebec City for a school trip. The farthest I've been in the World is St.Kitts and Nevis in the West Indies. I went for a family reunion on my Dad's side. It was a very beautiful island :D , with alot of chickens and stray dogs rooming around the place. Also, there was alot of rastas and dirrty boys who like to whistle at you cuz its like they have a sense that your not from around there!! That was my first ever trip on a plane and when I went, I came back a little before Aaliyah died in the plane crash and September 11th! :(

Well, my family has moved around a lot. I started my life off in New Hampshire, then we moved to New York and moved around a couple of times there. Finally, we came out to Iowa.

Until last summer, I would say that was the furthest I had traveled. But last summer I went to Mexico with my Spanish class. That was an experience...
Mexico was fun. Lots and lots of walking, but fun.

A few amusing annectodes from Mexico, which are far funnier when I tell them in person with my Mexican accent, but are hopefully at least mildly entertaining as prose:

Everyone in Mexico wants to sell you something, and everyone is a tour guide. One fellow took us around to his mother's, father's, Aunt's, Uncle's, and distant relation's shops, and wouldn't take 'no, we would rather find our own path' as an answer. At the end of our little side-treck he says 'You give me dollar for being good boy? I take plastic money too!'

Thongs are immensely popular in Mexico City. Every block had a vendor with a great big bin of lingerie, and a crowd of women swarming around it and digging in like they were looking for gold. I swear, they must not wash their underwear there, just buy it fresh every morning, with the amount of stuff those vendors were selling.

And there is pirated music and movies everywhere. Those street vendors had DVDs of movies that had only just been released in the U.S.

Some guy walked up to one of my friends and offered him cocaine.
I forgot a few things back when I wrote that, though. Such as the fact that it's almost easier to find alchohol than it is to find pop. And anyone can buy the stuff.

And the time the guy tried to sell us a handmade blanket at the pyramids. "One dolla'!" He yells. "One Dalla'!" "One Dollar!?!" we ask him. "Yes, one dolla'" he replies. We walk over to him and start examining the blanket. It is of very nice quality... "One dollar, you said?" we ask him again. "Yes," he replies, "fifty and ONE DOLLA'" I wonder if he had been quietly saying the fifty earlier, too. Either way, it was a clever trick for luring customers. But we didn't buy the blanket. ;)

Other noteworthy places I've been to but didn't have to travel terribly far for include Niagara Falls and the Six Flags in New Jersey (which weren't too far away while I was in NY).

Since coming out to Iowa I've been to Minneapolis/St. Paul a couple of times and down to Des Moines once. Both take a couple of hours of driving to get to, but aren't really all that far away.

When we went out east a couple summers ago to visit relatives, I went to Hershey's Park and the Pennsylvania capitol building.

That's about it for my travels.
