kyosuke
this is an old school 80's anime (which was made into a crappy american movie) it's about this boy named Sho who comes in contact with the Guyver Unit the guyver is a bio booster armor, which enhances sho's abilities, as well as giving him some new ones, but there is an evil corporation after the guyver as well as it's two other counter-parts, now sho must protect his family and friends. a lot of people say that they hate this anime, i really like it, anyone else with me? the down side is that they only finished 12 episodes:(
AzureWolf
You know, Gantz reminds me so much of this show, which I hate. I hate both of them, and for good reasons, mind you. The artworks are as homely as mud. You look at them, become mesmerized, and just wonder, "How did they manage to capture the essence of ugly?" From an artist's technical perspective, I guess that's an achievement. For a generic anime fan such as myself, I thought throwing up would just not be enough to reflect my opinion of the art. Moving past Gantz, though, I thought the Guyver just didn't make sense, and was too much of "My powers are so great, so I'll be tormented by them" and not enough of anything else. I didn't see all of it, but it would be the "badguy of the week" scenario, where the badguy is like, "OMG! I want u" and then you have the whole thing where, since he can't harm the guy, he'll harm his friends, and the girl he has a crush on. Rinse & repeat for the next episode. Of course, the badguys either got tougher, or there were more of them, but in every case, the main character wasn't in danger, but was just thrust with the same dilemma of "succumb, or have your love destroyed." Anyway, I saw this anime on bootleg VHS, and someone gave me a volume of the Guyver manga (or was it in this house when we moved in?). So, if you are unhappy with the anime, it's possible that the manga goes farther or something.
Endymion
A good number of people may dislike Guyver, but my dad and I like it. I plan on making a costume of Guyver 1 for the Big Apple Animefest this year. I mean the episode storylines weren't that well planned out.
The only episodes I found enjoyable were when the Hyper Zoanoid Team 5 attacks his school, and Sho/Guyver 1 are almost killed, the next episode when he is killed, and then the last episode when Sho gets impaled but manages to push through the mental torment of killing his father and saving Mizuki
Dragonboym2
I thought the Guyver was great! During the anime mini boom during '95, I wanted somthing more mature to watch. Everything seemed to be to cut and edited, or childish, or both. I liked the idea, and I ended up watching the live action version. I was kind of dissipointed with it. The anime was much better. WAY better. But, it was never finished. So, I got the manga, that exsplained what happened next, but it was never finished either. Still, "The Guyver" was great. I just wish they finished it. "KAMEHAMEHA!" Dragonboym2
Endymion
I've only seen the anime series. I own it on dvd. I've yet to read the manga. Not that I can find it anywhere. Just to get Berserk #4 I had to go on a multiple hour quest through traffic to get my addicted hands on it. I may have to venture into NYC, where I'm told there is a very large store with quite the selection of manga, according to my friend...but before I get any Guvyer manga...I need Berserk #5 before I go through withdrawal T_T
kabapu
of the episodes i have seen, i think that the guyver rocks. but unfortunately, i can't find the third VHS, so i can't see the last few!! :flaming: sure, it's cliche' with the badguys always becoming stronger or the "succumb, or have your love destroyed." paradox. but still, in a place where the only anime i can come across is chibi, the guyver ain't bad.
