Squall
Somebody told me it was possible to be in control of what you dream, or what you do in your dreams. It sounds possible, but I'd like to hear about it from anyone who's had a first-hand experience. So, does anybody know what I'm talking about, done it themselves, or know how to do it? Gravy Train
Yeah, I think that it can happen sometimes but only when you are about to wake up or something. I once had a dream that a bunch of Indians (no, not from India) were in my house. For some reason I realized that it was a dream and after I saw what a stupid dream it was, I commanded one of them to kill me so that I could wake up. Well, he didn't so I proceeded to kick the crap out of them until I go bored. I then dumped off the side of the "dream" stairs and then woke up. Being in control of your dreams is really weird, but it has only happened to me once. It would be cool if it happened more often.
Skye
Oo! *waves hand in the air* Pick me, pick me! I have so much fun doing it! I can control what I do, and sometimes I even realize I'm dreaming, and laugh in the face of danger. Okay, that sounded wierd to even me. For instance: I had a dream where I fell into water. So, I had to hold my breath. When I couldn't get out, and couldn't hold my breath, I had to breath. And I could breath water. In another dream, I attempted to hold my breath under water, and then thought to myself, "Oh yeah. I can brbeath water in my dreams." and then started breathing the water. Has anyone else had the experiance where you fall, and you never hit the ground because you're afraid to get hurt? I used to do that, and no matter what I thought about the dream, everytime I fell a long way, I would just fade out, and not hit the ground. I've found out a way to control when that happens and when it doesn't. :) Its useful. Really, Tyler, you should try it. You can fly, too, if you just try. I usually just tense up my muscles. Of course, recently, I've just been jumping high and far. *frowns* I need to try to fly again tonight... Heh, now I'm babbling. But it's all true! A couple nights ago I survived being shot with an uzi, and had to pretend i wasn't breathing so the people would leave me alone. I taunted them for the rest of the dream. It was interesting.
Retribution
Well... lemme think. Morpheus came to me in my dreams. He was hovering about 2 feet off the ground. The dream goes as follows. "Hey, you can't do that! That defies the laws of physics! You can't float" I shouted at him. "Yes I can. And so can you. Free your mind. Realize... there are no laws of physics. Break all those rules." I concentrated for a while, and began to float with difficulty at first. Then I could fly without really trying hard. "Very good. You can also control your dreams. They are also illusion. Free your mind." He said mysteriously. He smiled, and then made ninjas come at me from no where to test if what he said was right. "DiE!" I shouted. They just flopped over, and died. I gasped, and looked at my hands. So yeah... Morpheus taught me how to control my dreams. I mean, he is the God of Dreams, isn't he? Later on, I had another dream: I was in my church... only it looked like a board game. More specifically, Chutes & Ladders. There were chutes in the cielings, and ladders from every which-way... from the walls, ground, mid-air. Everywhere. There was a ground of kids there, being hunted by a vampire. I had a cross-bow, and I made the kids run out of the church. They ran off screaming, and bawling down the street. Then I faced the vampire. He came at me through a chute in the ceiling, and I shot him with my magic-crossbow. T'was an awesome dream.
Panda
Ah, the joys of being able to control ones dreams. It really is fun. I have done this quite a few times. One time I can remember is a dream where I was on stage infront of hundreds of people playing the piano. Beautiful music was filling the air. As I am playing the piano I realize that I don't know how to play the piano like that. I tell myself as long as I don't look down at my hands everything will be fine. So I continue on with the dream, playing this wonderful piano piece until it was finished. I got a standing ovation then I got the heck off of stage! Another dream was one where I was standing on the edge of a cliff. I was looking over and thinking to myself that I really should move away from the edge since it was dangerous. I then decided I didn't like the feeling of it at all so I just changed the dream so I was on a beach. I like being able to control my dreams. :D
Rei_Man
Well, I have a limited experience in this,, but I think I'll join in anyway. Most of the time, when I realize I'm dreaming, I end up waking up suddenly. One example of this was when I pulled a locket out of my pocket. I suddenly became conscious of the fact that I was dreaming, and this light started shining out of the locket. I woke up, opened my eyes, and saw the sun right where the locket had been in my dream. Freaky.... Then there was this one time when I managed to stay in the dream. I was walking around this semi-futuristic city with this big hill in the centre, and as I was walking up it I realised that it was a dream. I had to try really hard to avoid waking up, and it was as if everything seemed even more real than before. I could feel the wind, the ground under my feet, and so on. I decided to test the whole 'lucid dream' thing and stopped at the top of the hill. Of course, the prospect of invincibility was very tempting, and - just like that - a group of thugs appeared at the bottom of the hill. When they approached me, they tried to start a fight, and so I beat them into unconsciousness with a conveniently placed metal pole. I'd say that pretty much proved the invincibility theory. :haha:
Harry
I used to take some pills that would give me lucid dreams. Might have been just a placebo but they are quite fun. It's basically being able to play God.
elfpirate
I used to do that a lot- almost every night, actually. It was usually a flying dream that I would be having when I would realize that I was dreaming and that I could change my dream to suit my whims... so I could fly to wherever I felt like flying and could change the scenery that I was flying over, etc... But I haven't done it since I developed a couple of parasomnias... like night-terrors, for one- and OH, how I wish I could control those... (Imagine having the most terrifying dream possible, but you believe that it's really happening to you... then, imagine that you "wake up" from your terror and the horrifying subject of your dream is there in your bedroom with you for a while...like it followed you out of your dream...and you can't escape it until it slowly fades away and you finally realise that you were only dreaming) yeah... I really wish I could control my dreams still. Especially because I also lack the chemical that is supposed to paralyze you while you're dreaming, so I frequently flail about and punch the wall as hard as I can in my sleep and other stupid crap like that. I actually gave myself a concussion... head-butting the concrete wall that my bed was up against... because I was ducking an attack in my dream...not a pleasant way to wake up... If I could still dream lucidly, then I could get rid of the night-terrors entirely... but I would probably still flail about like an idiot...:D
