A nice convenient thread to post all of those awesome games that no one really noticed.

Astro Boy: The Omega Factor- This was a marvelous game. The on foot parts are done wonderfully, even with controls you would think were impossible if you've never used them. The shooting segments were done in true Treasure style, and it actually has replay value. Making me care about people with only a dozen lines of speech is another noticeable acheivement.

Phantasy Star Online:

I don't know why this game never became very popular. Nothing is more fun than getting 4 people in a room and playing non-stop for 8 hours. The only problem is, without the online hookup you get next to no weapons. I love this game, and consider it MMO greatness, though the conventional MMO player may not like it. :ball: :D

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

It was my favorite game on the GameCube until Resident Evil 4 came along. Unfortunately, ED is a step down from Resident Evil 4 for the most part (especially the graphics and combat), but what game isn't?

Anyway, I think that ED is well worth playing. The story is pretty strong, though the characters aren't quite as developed as I'd like. The cutscenes are top notch and the voice acting is among the best I've heard in a game. It's about as difficult as RE4 is, maybe a bit harder, and the puzzles are good. The magick system is pretty neat, and the sanity system is phenomenal. I love the sanity effects. They work very well, and a few of them are rather devious and mean. They go along well with the overall motif of ED.

The only real downside to the game is that the combat can be boring, at times. When you have some of the cooler weapons (like the Ram Dao, double barrel shotgun, and assault rifle) the combat can be pretty fun, but with some of the weaker weapons, the combat is lame. Resident Evil 4's combat absolutely crushes that of Eternal Darkness.

Otherwise, the game is very good and extremely fun. It's a shame that ED didn't sell particularly well, because it definitely deserved to.

My main issue with ED was the enemies. A vast majority of the game is spent with the same few types, all of which are incredibly similar to eachother in the first place. Later on there are a few new ones, but some have very specific weaknesses that make them a pain to finish off. The bosses were more interesting at least.

I enjoyed the combat in ED because you could target specific body parts. Unfortunately, in practice it's not always as fun as it could have been due to the lack of more monster types. Guns were just a pain because I just hated waiting for the characters to reload them.

Still, I really liked the game. I finished it all three times so I could get the special ending, so that must be saying something lol.
