Gaming Mega Man X Collection

Following last year's Mega Man Anniversary Collection (which was arguably one of the best compilation packages in quite a while) Capcom has now officially announced its intentions to offer a Mega Man X Collection. Here's a link to the article:

Interesting points worth mentioning are the inclusion of Mega Man Battle and Chase as an unlockable game, that the game will seemingly be multiplatform, and more hints being dropped concerning a Capcom Compilation (which many people have been looking forward to for quite some time now).

What are your thoughts on the Mega Man X Collection? I'm a fan of the first three games in the series. All iterations following the 16-bit titles lost my interest completely. However, one package featuring a majority of the games in the series sounds like an attractive bargain worth investigating. Especially if the great interface from the last collection is built upon and more enticing extras are added. Although Mega Man Battle and Chase is another kart clone, I?d say it?s definitely a step in the right direction compared to the secret arcade games found in Anniversary Collection. This one could actually be worth toying around with.

I also wonder just how many X titles will be included. That is, I wonder if they'll throw in any of the abysmal Playstation 2 efforts.

I've only played the versions of X that came out on the PS1 and PS2, so I wouldn't know how good the earlier ones are. If they can manage to get X5 on their, though, I'll be happy. I lost my copy a while ago.

Whether or not they do include the newer X's, I need to get it. I feel like I would be more enriched by seeing Zero in 8-Bit form.....uh.....if he ever was 8-bit......

By the way, could you play as Zero on the earlier X's? That would definitely make the game worth buying.

As for Battle and Chase, it'll be interesting enough to play, but there's usually a reason games aren't released in the U.S.

I'd say that they'll include the ones for SNES and PS1. With todays DVD-9's, that should be no problem.

I hope that the extras are like activision anthology. Comercials, box shots, full manuals, etc.

I'd assume the collection would have all of the ones prior to the 3D versions on the PS2. Capcom wouldn't bother to include games that are still for sale, for obvious reasons.

I was wondering when this would be formally announced. The rumors have been jumping around about it all week.

Yeah, the rumors were almost overshadowed by the announcement of Capcom's other new games (which don't look particularly interesting to me right now). Including Mega Man X7 wouldn't necessarily be a bad move though, considering it's not lighting the market on fire. Wasn't it part of the $4.99 Circuit City sale?

So were quite a few games that did well... Most Circuit City's just sold absolute trash in that sale, the good stuff was a rarity. I don't think many of them actually had all that much left over, excess stock to sell in that sale.

Anyway, IGN's original story says the game includes X 1 to 6 and Battle and Chase.

i used to love those games for super nintendo. i played those all the time.i actually still have one. the aniversary collection was very good. i liked how it went from the early ones up to one of the newer ones. i thought that, that was very interesting. i think mega man is one of the best games to come out. also its been out for so long and dtill gong. thats pretty impressive

I'm not sure if that happened or not, but it's hard to say what version would be on the compilation. Nothing has really been said.

On the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Capcom actually put the inferior Playstation version of Mega Man 8 on the disc instead of the far superior Saturn version. It wouldn't be unexpected for them to stick with the poorer versions.
